It works really well, we are lucky that we have 3 Dr's 2 of them full time and the other one does 2 days a week, 2 practice nurses and 2 district nurses.

Getting an emergency appointment is usually not a problem. The practice now has the choice of being able to book on line, for both Dr's and nurses and order prescriptions.

The only thing is they do not advertise that anywhere, only by chance did we find out it was available.

They only give you 10 minutes and it would have taken longer to explain the ongoing problems with a new doctor so I was pleased. Is it 10 minutes with everyone else around the country? I'm half expecting them to have an hour glass half full of sand and to turn it over when you walk in the room

I think our general, on the day appointments, are only five minutes but of course if the problem is more complicated the doctor doesn't throw you out when the five minutes are up. ( was it Monty Python where you could book an argument for so many minutes!!!) Some appointments can be booked online in advance which are ten minutes long. Although five and ten minutes don't sound very long they are usually long enough for more minor problems. Although we can phone at 8.00am for an appointment many choose to wait outside the surgery when it opens and of course they usually get first pickings, even if they have to come back later in the day. The only problem is that if you have a pre-booked 8.00am appointment you usually have to fight your way into reception to get to the booking screen!!! We also have a couple of paramedics at our surgery and they are useful to see if its a less serious/worrying matter. They will always refer on to a doctor if its above their pay grade but given the nature of their previous roles they have probably seen more emergencies than any of the doctors in the surgery!!!

When I did my first aid training, we were told that most GP's will defer to the Paramedics in emergencies, as they see more of them and are up to date with procedures.

Thanks I hope that is the case next Spring wink

It’s been a busy week so far.

Monday we sold 4 new calved cows at a Shorthorn Society pedigree sale. We were very pleased (especially as we had the Champion in the pre show, then realised the highest price.)

Tomorrow it’s our Annual Organic Inspection by the Soil Association. Plus Red Tractor. So much checking, tidying and cleaning round the buildings. And an enormous amount of paperwork . They do like a good paper trail. It will be full day job from 9 am. So dinner is made (we feed the inspector) - Proper Hot Pot with black pudding.

Then maybe a glass or two at night.

Just read about possible flooding on the Keswick site, it's somewhere we like to visit quite often, hope the water levels drop soon.

    We're N.West...that's where "Cumberland" is ya knows!wink

Watching the forecast it would appear that we might just get up to the low 20's, but as long as it's dry it'll suit us.

OOPs, just spotted WN's response to your post...he's up on here a lot sooner than I.

It's been raining very heavily on and off for the last 10 days up in the Lakes & S.W.Scotland. We've been fortunate when we've gone out during the day but most nights have been wet. We were at Keswick on Sunday and it threw it down, on Monday it was pouring down there again (spotted off Binsey). Rain all Monday night and into the morning, then again Tuesday night and from 8:30 last night till about 11 today when we got home. It's no wonder that there's the likelihood of flooding up there.

Guess I'm fortunate as I can't remember the last time that I've had to see my Doctor, in fact I've never seen my appointed doctor and she's been in the practice for years. We are lucky in that they've at least 5 doctors and at least the same number of nurses who do all the injections, BP tests etc.

Just  read on FB that Keswick site is closed to 'new outfits' until Saturday lunchtime, they have been ringing round and cancelling those due to arrive. Those on site seem to be ok at the moment.

Jumped over the border today into Austria and visited Innsbruck, very busy in the Alt Centre.  Had a nice lunch in a cafe close to the lovely Cathedral.  Purchased a digital vignette for our trip through Austria on Sunday.  Had afternoon tea in the van then went for a walk in the high pastures, silage cutting still going on. Weather has been warm but clouds have kept coming in and covering the mountains

Well after a busy few weeks, including a few days in glorious Shropshire and then helping our youngest son in Manchester with a bit of DIY (although not on KjellNN scale) in his new home I'am looking forward to a quiet BH. Although eldest son suggested we host a BBQ tomorrow 😲

Have I missed anything exciting?  Probably! 😉😂

Trevor has been completing a few last jobs on the MG, it's never ending. 😉 We are booked to take it to the GWSR classic car day at Toddington Station in September.

Our little family of hedgehogs are still around, they turn up just after 9 pm every night and boy can they eat. Trying to persuade Trevor to build a Hedgehog house for their hibernation ☺

Weather has been lovely and it's hotting up for the weekend,  hope all those out and about and staying at home have a good weekend.

May try and read some of the posts I've missed, it could take me a while 😯😯

Although plenty of shops selling them I don’t think we are in the market for them now.  I did wear Lederhosen many moons ago when I went to a non military school in Hamburg😜

That's what I hope to be able to say too, or use David's response.

I'm not at all surprised that they are stopping vans coming onto the C&CC's Keswick site. The last time we were there many of the grass pitches got very wet, and if they haven't replaced them with H/S ones I'd not be surprised if they've closed them off after all the rain. Feel sorry for those that are supposed to be arriving today.

Glad that you've had a good time in Shopshire, Helen. Where did you stay this time?

After getting home in the wet yesterday today has been a complete contrast. OH completed the washing and all's dry and away now, and I got the outside of the caravan cleaned, again!!

You are making my mouth water now, brue.  The cheese my sister brought over last year is long gone, though I noticed that the half size piece she brought for our daughter is still in the fridge, unopened!

The Cloudberry jam is delicious, the berries only grow in the wild, more so in Sweden than Norway, so are quite a delicacy.  If you acquire a taste for it, I believe Ikea often have it in their food area, if you are near one on your travels.

We have been keeping busy.......dentist.....another birthday......finishing the gate I was making for DD.....a bit of painting for her.....other odds and ends.......preparing wooden blanks for the pens I plan to make....and of course looking after Callum 3 afternoons per week.     Plus we are having him on Sunday as his parents are going out for lunch to celebrate a relative's birthday, posh place so not suitable for small children.

Had to get a tyre repaired on the Touareg as it was losing pressure over time, found a large nail in it.  It goes for service and first MOT on Monday, so thought it best to get it sorted first.

Going to be very hot today 36C phew so have been out cutting the lavender before breakfast as it was cooler now all done and drying in the sun.

    Have a good weekend folks.

It is the last Saturday that the roads will be very busy from holiday folk going home and OH was reading on his Ipad last night that the 4 Saturdays in August that most lorries are banned from driving due to holiday traffic, we thought it was quiet the other Saturday driving up the autoroute to Bricodepot at Brive with friends for bathroom items there were very few lorries about, rules applies to anything over 7.5 tonnes also the last Saturday in July 7am to 7pm can you imagine that in the UK.

    Good morning one and all.

Beautiful morning so what better way to enjoy it than to go for a walk before it gets too hot. Managed a full hour this morning without too much repercussions. Finding that being in a car is the worst for me at the moment but things progressing.

Friend of ours couldn't believe that lorries over a certain weight are banned from travelling on Sundays in many countries abroad. Exceptions apply but everyone who drives abroad know the difference a long Sunday drive can make to a normal weekday. Only trouble is finding a car park space in the service stations if you are towing or have a large M/Home. It will never catch on here.

We often travel on a Sunday, and it does tend to be slightly better with lorries, particularly on the A1, but what bliss to have them off completely. The M18/M180 area is one of the worst, huge car transporters weaving around, full and empty, towing and froing from docks.

I hope those of you who haven’t been too well are picking up a bit. It’s very hot here as well, so another garden day for me. Taking a hedge out, not a task to look forward to, dusty and dirty.

The combine is still chuntering along behind our home, mechanical problems are slowing it's progress. Buzzards are scanning the cut areas.

KJ, it's been lovely to have a taste of Norway. I thought I'd show others the brown "cheese" as I've never seen or tasted anything like it before, we've pared off thin slivers, it is sweet and a bit caramel like in flavour but hard to describe! Many thanks once more.

"Weather has been lovely and it's hotting up for the weekend,"

Aaargh! Helen - how could you? yell

That phrase is one of my pet hates when Madame Kirkwood uses it! It may be getting hotter,  it may be heating up,  but it's definitely not "hotting up". Unless, of course, in October it's going to be "colding down"! laughinglaughing

Looks good......did they not bring you an osthoevel to attack it with?!

    Literally a "cheese plane".

They are available in UK, but I am very surprised that they have not caught on more here.

You will find them in specialist cook shops and, trying not to sound like I am in their pay, in the market hall at Ikea!

    On Amazon too.....
