Have a good time. I haven't been on a ferry for years because we have tended to use the Tunnel. However I could see that the Harwich crossing could be useful if travelling north. Is it better to have a day or night crossing?

When we got our first LED TV Margaret insisted that it shouldn't be too large. So that is what we purchased, a 32 inch Sony. In the meantime we were used to watching our Son's 43 inch TV and eventually I got Margaret to relent and we got a 43 inch Sony Full HD Smart TV. Even now Margaret accepts it is better!!!  Nor sure we could go much larger but last week at the Birthday Party they seemed to have a massive TV (compared to ours) on the wall. Trouble is with home technology is that it changes month by month so a decision now will be out of date by Christmas!!!

We've had a much better day weather wise too. After rain during the night it's been sunny and dry all day. Drove into Penrith this morning for provisions, fuel and a gas refill before heading back to the van. Spotted what we thought was an overturned caravan on S-bound carriage way of M6 between J 41 & 40 ( see Caravan & M/H Chat posts) Hope there were no injuries. After lunch we had a walk along the side of Parson's Park from Caldbeck before visiting John Peel's Grave in the church yard.

Enjoy your trip "over there" OP.

55 inch samsung linked to a soundstage.. Hate wall mounted, mines on a corner unit.

Link my drone to the telly, main computer, and my phone to either tv our soundstage, the Amazon dot thing links to the soundstage to play music or radio. Awesome.

So much more to tv nowadays.

Our present TV is 32" and we have decided 43" is the biggest we can accomodate. We really dont want it to dominate the living room. The young man in John Lewis was very helpful so I think we have narrowed it down to a 43" Sony but OH wont be rushed into a decision 😁.

We just got a new 32 inch (Lidl offer) for  the "office, sewing room, second living room" we have a 43 inch in the main lounge, cannot imagine having anything bigger!   Just need to get rid of the ancient CRT one we have had through there for ages!

Been to Ikea, again, today to get some doors etc for DD's utility room project, just got enough to use the discount vouchers she had.

Back at her place tomorrow as she always has something for us to do.

Think ours might be a 32'' but could be a 28''. Never really take much notice. Rarely look at it smile

We have used that crossing  twice, we did the day one as it is much less expensive.  Went to Delftse Hout for the night we arrived, which worked well.

With a fixed, limited, income, we prefer to be careful with the spending, and economise where possible

Mmmm, we are finding that we are watching much less TV these days than we used to 10 years ago, but there are still a few programmes worth watching, and I like the News Channel.

Our kitchen floor became strangely slippery the other day, odd as nothing had been spilt on it, so OH tasked me with cleaning it while she was out shopping, and provided the mop and the cleaning stuff.....seems to have worked.  The mop remained pretty clean, so the floor was not dirty, just slippery, very odd!

Brue, sorry to hear you had to give up your holiday, hopefully you can go in the near future.

W&M........I can recommend trying some stuff called KOH, available on line, advertised on Face book.  We got some a few months back and it really is excellent, and non toxic, unlike bleach.  It can replace most of your household cleaning products.

I am sure that there are some things worth watching but I don't have the patience for most of them or the desire to look through programs info. I tend to prefer the spoken word without images or more often written articles.

    Millie

I don't think you will be disappointed with the Sony, ours has a superb picture quality and it's just an ordinary HD TV. Being a Smart TV you can connect it to the internet for catch up TV, Margaret likes that to catch up on the programmes she has missed when we have been away.

David. Thank you for this informstion. The young man suggested we walk around the department with him to watch the TVs from different angles and different distances and the Sony seemed the best.

Mills, tip-steer clear of the Sony Bravia Android TV. If you use the TV for the smart stuff it may be worth the annoyance but if it’s just to watch, think on. I have one(not main TV thankfully) it is very ‘old computer’ like, every so often it needs rebooting due to it freezing. It takes an age whilst Google warms up by passing a yellow ball on screen(not a joke🙄) l deactivated Youview due the the constant freezing. Surprisingly with the Sony native channel choice it hasn’t froze. The other Sonys(sans Android) I’ve had no issues with.

We’re sort of considering a new television . Our is a Samsung 43”? The main problem is the sound. About 30% of the time it vibrates and we consider a new one. Then it’s OK, so I worry about what to do with it if we get a new one. It’s not Smart, but can be via the BlueRay player. A bit of a faff as I have to log in to the router each time.

We bought a small freezer from Curry’s last week and walked very slowly past the televisions . . . .

Ours is Android and we don't suffer such problems. Any system where you have to go through multiple menus to get where you want to be will be a bit slower than just changing from BBC to ITV on the main TV. We find it a lot quicker than the Humax box we use for recording but can also use for catch-up.

Good to catch up on posts.

Hope those under the weather get sorted/diagnosed/better swiftly. My thoughts are with you, this doesn't seem to have been a good year for some folks health wise- certainly in our circle!

Much of the same here, hospital appointments and thankfully an all clear letter following OH's colonoscupy 😃. Still trying to do at least an hour a day in the garden, great plans for today but heavy rain has put pay to that! First load of washing dried before the rain, bedding awaiting an outdoor blow. Will have to potter at indoor  jobs now and I won't be able to see where I've been for very long unlike the garden! Mind you even I can't always see I'm making a great impression outside, so much growth this August 😲

Whatever you do enjoy your day folks 😃

Our TV is smart too but unfortunately our internet connections are not reliable so I've yet to see what it could do. Millie, it's only like your present one in size but the Panasonic sound is good. So many choices, hope you find one you like.

KJ thanks for your previous helpful comments about Norway on another thread I've passed them on to our replacements who are loving their visit!

Thank you for info on this KOH cleaning product.  We have watched the little video of the product in use and it looks good, especially as it has no odour or harmful substances.  Having just spent a while cleaning our shower this morning with our usual stuff I have ordered some and we will check out the difference!

    Well today I went "ARGHHHHHHHH"

Stupidly I thought shops stocked stuff, on shelves, but no, how old fashioned am I then?

"Hello member of staff, I want that", pointing to laptop.

"Ok sir", good so far, I'm happy, "If you would like to follow me to the pay point I can take payment then have it here by tomorrow".

"Sorry what, here tomorrow, I want it now". Anger growing already.

"Sorry sir we dont do that".

"BUT YOUR A SHOP, its what shops do, so I give you money, for me to then trapse back here, in traffic to collect a thing I've paid for but not got"?

    "Yes"

"No, that sounds like you want me to shop at Amazon, which I will, Ta Ta" I walk out, bloke left jaw open. Do I care, NO.

    PC World Wakefield

    God it's gone downhill.

To say its now a Currys and Phone shop combined, its tiny.

If only Asda had them. In there Saturday, assistant helping carry out a telly to car for customer. PC World today, woman dragging telly in box across car park, I went gave a hand.

What's happening? give up I honestly do.

It works best if the surface to be cleaned is dry when you spray it on, DD used it on the tiles etc in the shower when she moved into this house and found using a brush on any grout gave good results.

Cleans glass well, though we do not have hard water up here, and according to OH is great for greasy hobs, and brings up quartz worktops to an impeccable shine.

Also fine to use on many fabrics to remove greasy marks.  SIL had spilt mayonnaise on his tie and suit trousers, dry cleaning did not remove the marks so he was going to throw them out, but OH suggested trying the KOH on them first.....and it worked!

    Good stuff......strange name though.

I remember my grandfather getting a 21" TV from Radio Rentals back in the early sixties and thinking "what does he want a massive great screen like that for?" Times, they are a-changing.

    Suicide.

That's what I'm doing next today.

    Anyone work for argos?

So I'm wanting a new laptop, all I'm after is a separate graphics card with decent amount of ram, loads have what I'm looking for, photo and video editing, my old ones too slow

So Argos, another shop that has baffled me today, got a laptop, brilliant, and its a few quid cheaper than pc world, great, why the hell will they not deliver it to my house, but yet will deliver to the caravan at York?

What on earth difference can that make?

Make no wonder the high street is dead, self inflicted.

    One more time, ARGHHHHHH

It's a good job the cookers electric!

    😡😡😡
