We've woken up to an altogether better morning - blue skies and a nice bit of breeze to keep it cool for walking. I think it's going to be another tough one - the clue is in the name Ruardean Hill! laughing

May well cut our losses and head home this evening though - we're only booked in till Saturday and tomorrow looks pretty grim and wet (not to mention that Mrs M's zumba classes resume on Friday morning!wink)

Got home about 4pm yesterday. Boy did that feel good. Slept for 13 solid hours! Felt great getting a full shower this morning as opposed to a body wash. Could have stayed under for an hour. Felt a bit funny being partially wrapped in cling film though.

Getting to grips with my caravan claim and trying to sort out blocking numbers from scammers.

Sounds like a site to put in my book M.

Hope the scan goes ok for Mr H Millie.

Glad your home WM but no doubt you will have to take it easy for a while.

Car serviced this morning so had a wander around Lowestoft seafront then to the shops.  Looks like we could hav3 a spot or tw of rain which is a pity as I was hoping to mow the lawn

Good to hear you are home WN and had such a deep sleep, much needed no doubt.

Millie, nice to hear another trip to Houghton went well. I hope the hospital visit for your OH goes well too.

I go back for tests next week but also hoping to see improvements. Got to get potassium levels up but am fed up with bananas and avocados!

Apologies for missing out people but have read all the things you are up to and planning. If you're off somewhere, enjoy it! smile

The walked turned out to be a bit of history, some spectacular views and a bit of nature thrown in.

Right in the middle of the forest, with no real signposting, we came across this memorial stone to 5 Miners who were rescued after being trapped underground in a sudden flood. Many had already escaped to the main shaft over a mile away, but 3 of them went back for 2 elderly colleagues and got cut off by 5 metre deep floods. They had to traverse some old disused mine seams to get to this shaft ,  now covered, in order to be rescued. One of them was awarded the George Cross later.

We stopped for coffee at this viewpoint at the top of Ruardean Hill, with views all the way to the Brecon Beacons. You might just make out the shape of Sugar Loaf and Blorenge on the left of the picture.

Then, on our way back to the car we spotted our first wild boar with two little piglets (is boarlets a word?) - scampered off into the trees far too quickly for me to take a picture though.

About to start taking the awning down and then head off for home after tea. A pity it's been such a short break, but it's a marvellous area and we will definitely return to this site in the future. smile)

Word of warning to anyone thinking of getting photos of boars with young. They can be very aggressive and I've been told of people having their legs broken (in France).

Many thanks to you CS and to all the rest of the gang. Much appreciated.

Not only have I been wrapped in cling film but it also seems at times that I've been wrapped in cotton wool.smile

It's been good to hear about peoples travels.

Feel sorry for Brue though, having had to pass up her Scandanavian venture. Best wishes for a full recovery.

laughinglaughing I heard about folk that have a fetish for cling film laughinglaughing

Glad to hear you are now back home and had a good sleep, always makes you feel better.

Better day here today too, bit of housework first then worked all the rest of the day outside  smile  more painting of trellis (oh how I love doing it) wink then more pottering in the garden, now that I do love.

AD we've just changed tow cars so we can get our full sized bikes inside smile we can't carry them on the caravan but we did have them on the back of the car, makes it awkward though for hitching up.  The new car we can take out the seats and have all the space for the bikes and rest of the gubbins laughing

We had a Sorento smile loved that car. New one is a Toyota ProAce Verso think its a bit bigger than the Sorento. Our ebikes are 21 kg each so know how you feel. We are going away for a couple of days to try everything out but think we will have plenty of space. The bikes tyres sit very well in the tracks that the removed seats run on. smile Yes not long now for either of us heading off, we always seem to be going in the opposite direction laughing

So pleased to hear that you are now home WN and had such a long much needed sleep. That will certainly help your recovery. All the best to you.

OH had his bone scan today and is now radioactive😱. He has to avoid anyone who is pregnant for 24 hours or so. So cant see our grand-daughter. She had her 20 week scan this morning. All is well and she is having a boy. I can now start buying baby things😊 We had a few hours to kill between OH having his radioactive injection and the scan so we went into town and had some lunch and then looked at TVs in John Lewis as we are considering buying a bigger one. We have decided that 43" is the biggest we can accommodate comfortably. The young man in John Lewis was most helpful. OH gets is scan result in 1 or 2 weeks.

Hope you had a safe journey home moulesy and hope you got some better weather today nellie. D and G is a lovely area but perhaps not in the rain. Have you been to Wigtown?

The same from me for your journey home M. The site looks just the ticket and we may well try it during our next trip.

We had a much better day today, millie. Not quite wall to wall sunshine but fine all the same. We went to Wigtown when we were staying at Newton Stewart earlier in the trip, but it was very quiet there.

Today we went firstly to Threave Castle but no-one is allowed across to the island at the moment because of Peregrines nesting on the castle. We did see the Osprey on her nest and a quick view of her mate as he flew off. Spotted a couple of deer from the Stepping-Stones Hide and another as we were making our way back to the car park. From there we went to Threaves Gardens and were in time to take in the house tour before a wander round the grounds. I was greatly taken by the variety of insectivorous plants that they have in the greenhouse, including Venus Flytrap.

This is our last night here before heading down into Cumbria to another new CL. Just hope that the rain and winds aren't as bad as had been forecast earlier in the week.

WN, I guess that you will be fast asleep by now but will catch up with the posts in the morning, so just to say that we're very pleased to hear that you've got home at last. Just you take it easy for a while and no more dangerous adventures into the garden for a while, eh? Hope that you have another good night's sleep.

Change in the weather again today frown wet miserable and cold.

Perfect for sorting out the attic  smile that's now done, bits and bobs to go to the skip. Bathroom cupboard also sorted out, old out of date things gone in the bin list of new things to be made and re stocked.

We are getting a visit this afternoon from our eldest son and grandson, while his wife and daughter go off to do something (not sure what)

Bit of ironing to do first then a spot of lunch, nothing very interesting but its what I am doing today.

I am absolutely sure I am not old enough to be a great granny!!

You were obviously in your teens when you had your first child Millie and everyone has followed suit since.smile

Had a good nights sleep but am starting to feel the effects now as I'm stuck on glorified Paracetamol. Just had an unusual and rather disturbing telephone consultation with a GP at our surgery. During the CT scan taken after admission to A&E I was informed that the lung unaffected in the fall did show 2 Noads or spots that needed further investigation from the Respiratory Department at the hospital and I should ask our GP to make an urgent referral upon discharge. So I rang the Triage number. The doctor rang back and because I did not have a letter from the hospital he was reluctant to refer me as "his insurance company wouldn't like it!"yell

To say I was furious doesn't cover it. It wasn't until I asked how his insurance company would react by being sued by my estate should I pass away as a result of any delay in ascertaining what the problem was that the penny dropped and he said that he would contact the hospital but only so that he could get an official email asking him to refer me!

I think once matters have settled down that I shall be taking the matter up with one of his partners.

Not good WN, but then again why did the hospital not consult the Respiratory dept while you were in their care?

As I posted earlier in the week I called our GP surgery to speak with the Practice manager. First call made by e on Monday, followed again Tuesday and again on Wednesday  after she failed to call at the agreed time.  I finally got a call back on Thursday morning, she was full of apologies and did put her hands up to there being no excuse she just forgot. yell

However the outcome of the call and my reason for making it was very good, she agreed that it shouldn't have happened and she would change the admin procedure that day to prevent it happening again.

I wish you well with your health and hope you soon get an appointment and a good result.

    Hi Tammy.

I did ask the unit that I was admitted to whether they would do the referral and they said that they couldn't as the Respiratory unit would send any results back to them and not my GP, who would need to get involved in any further referrals to other depts, which sounded like a plausible answer.

It just struck me as an odd thing for the GP to say, that his insurance company wouldn't like it. He obviously puts more store by what his Insurers think than his patients. Have had similar lack of interest by him in the past and l avoid any appointments with him. Just my luck that he was doing Triage calls today.

At least you seemed to have got an apology and hopefully a change for the future.

Thanks for the guidance on this one, but let me get this straight. You strap one to the other and tug them with one hand so effectively using one as a 'Truck' then you still have to try and tug the other with the spare hand ... emmm I'm putting that on the truck too.

The truck I have in mind is tiny, the tanks don't have to be filled they can be part filled but it's surprising how little extra in size adds to the overall capacity. I don't need the car to tug the truck I have in mind but for the sake of adding a hitch, I will.

The best pitches are often the ones furthest from the water supply. I have a superb end bathroom that I'd prefer to use over and above any site facilities and my pump uses 15ltrs per minute so a little extra water for multiple showers and daily use helps.

Someone else mentioned that it keeps you fit. Not really relevant after a heart bypass though is it?

Perhaps not what you think of as serendipity but had you not had your accident the other problem may not have been discovered until a much later stage. I would agree that mentioning insurance was somewhat odd but would I be right in thinking he had not, at that stage, received the results from the hospital? We have a doctor at our surgery who is not that popular, strange how you can always get an appointment with him!!!

Depends on how long after a heart bypass, and how bad you were before it was done, it will of course take some time to regain fitness.

I had a triple bypass back in mid June 2015 having suffered from angina for about 9 months.  I was not allowed to drive for about 4 weeks, then had to be "signed off" by the consultant before taking the caravan away, which we did after about 21/2 months.

We decided not to take our Fiamma canopy that year to cut down on some of the work, and chose our pitches so that it was a flat run with water and waste.

The NHS it seems is so overloaded with work and also a thin on the ground "back office"staff, that is where mistakes are being made,

When I was blue lights to A&E in the early hours with chest pains,in Feb last year I was discharged later that day(indigestion) ,In Nov I read a letter from our GO surgery with a copy of a letter they had got from the respiratory dep advising that apart from my A&E attendance  they had no more information as to why ,when I saw a GP  and told him what had happend in the Feb ,he hit the roof, and the rest is as posted earlier this yearsurprised

Next appointment is next month, must not lift anything over 15kg and definitely nothing above shoulder height, and have tel no of professors secretary in charge of cardio to contact direct if any recurrences, not to go via the  "system"laughing

Didn't even know I had, had a heart attack, one of these silent ones. Ended up with a Quad cabag though in 2017. Still feel fit now but don't particularly enjoy lugging water butts around a camp site when there are alternatives. Get plenty of exercise walking my dog thoughout the day ;)

We are so glad that we have the Thule wind out canopy now,and as you, try to get a level walk to the service points, we only now ever fill the aqua barrel on arrival and keep it topped up with watering cans (less than 15kg when full)

Ps weather in New Forest is heavy rain and windy, a few pitches available now at BlackKnowl if any one want a weekendsurprised

I was thinking the same David. However I did complain about chest pains back in December and was sent for an x-ray which didn't show anything untoward but as we know, a CT scan gives more information than an x-ray.

I just wish that there would have been an easier way of finding this out rather than the way I did.smile

The doctor did actually have full information in front of him on my computer records as he mentioned the ward I was in and the injuries sustained so I assume my scan results would be on there as well. It seems he is covering his back by asking for the paperwork to be right first.

I've calmed down a bit but could do without the hassle.
