The NHS it seems is so overloaded with work and also a thin on the ground "back office"staff, that is where mistakes are being made,

It was with back office staff and 'procedures' that my issue was.

On the 26th July I visited the Dr who refereed me to dermatology , 2nd August a ' letter' was typed up (GP's request) asking me to make an appointment to see the Nurse as a photo was required.

The letter was not posted until the 8th August, I received it on the 10th a Saturday.

On Monday I called to make an appointment to be told 'she is on leave' can't do anything until the week after.

So my appointment to have a photo taken is on the 19th August some 26 days after seeing the Dr, by the time it then goes back to her to do the referral and send to the hospital it will be in excess of 30 days.

It took 4 days to get to speak with the practice manager, who when given the time line agreed it was not acceptable. However the explanation was that the Dr only works part time, Dr's always want letters to be sent, to keep a paper trail, Dr's always want to sign said letters first. So the letter sat around the office for 6 days waiting for a squiggle. yell

When I suggested that I could have been phoned and a note added to my records the practice manager thought that a good suggestion and decided that from that day she would put that into practice also all routine letters to be pp'd by the secretary and not wait for Dr's to sign.

Of course the more complex letters will always have to go back to the Dr's for checking and signing but at least my suggestion will ease some of the pressure and waiting times.

As we only live 400 yards from the practice it is rather frustrating that things take so long.

What would have been even better is if the Dr had taken the photo at the time of my appointment, innocent just like my sisters Dr did, then I would probably have an appointment by now for dermatology.

Don't misunderstand I hold the NHS in high regard and would not like to see them go but there are times I could give them a good shake as they do seem to make life so much harder for themselves and their patients.

WN, do you think it likely that this is something to do with the cough you have had for awhile?

Glad you have calmed down, its not good for your general well being you know wink

I would rather just fill the Aquaroll than carry 15kg of water!

On arrival, if we are staying more than a couple of nights, I fill the Aquaroll twice as the first one is pumped into the on board tank, then after that it is usually a max of one Aquaroll and one Wastemaster per day, and toilet emptying every 36-48 hours.

Not bothered about slopes now, but prefer not to have to lug the Wastemaster up steep hills!

We no longer have the Fiamma as it fell apart after 10 years, so have a Sunncamp Swift Canopy, which is easy to put up.

Yes I do TG but GP didn't as he used x-ray as evidence of no evidence as a reason to pursue other avenues. Funnily enough the cough disappeared when we were away for 6 weeks and I felt fit, doing loads of walking and climbing.

Upon returning home the cough returned.(Maybe I'm allergic to the Mother-in-Lawsurprised) so I went back. He will refer me but only after he has exhausted all normal alternatives but I'm thinking that this might sort it out one way or the other.

Keep smiling WN, it will all sort soon enough, get yourself better first.

Said from my sick bed, ha ha!

Just had some lovely photos through from the relatives enjoying our holiday, they're having a good time (I'm relieved to hear as they have even taken on the trips we booked.) They're in Stavanger just now, next stop to visit a glacier.

Have done nothing today except get some rest, the weather is awful so it doesn't matter. Listened to OH cleaning the kitchen floor with too much vim and vigour, decided just to thank him rather than comment on his technique....wink

Do hope you all have a good weekend, will be looking in just to hear your updates.

WN. Never mind, your health is important and there'll be other times. We have never had to abandon a holiday on this scale before but there are worse things!

Brue and WN I hope you both feel better soon. There seem to be quite a few people on here with health worries at the moment. I hope they all get resolved soon.

I too hope that all those that are, or have been, poorly recently are soon back to full health.

WN, can you not claim your ferry costs on your travel insurance? Hope that you get sorted out with your doctor with regards to the nodes on your lungs and you are able to get that matter cleared up asap.

What a day weather wise!! It started to rain about 4:00 in the night and poured it down all morning. I managed to get our first walk done without getting too wet, with the use of a brolly for cover but of course couldn't pack up holding it. I can't remember the last time that I got so wet ...literally soaked to the skin. We finally drove out of the heavy rain around Carlisle about 12:15 and got set up in a very light drizzle. We did fit in a walk after lunch round Caldbeck in the dry before the rain set in again with a vengance this evening. However it does appear to have stopped at the moment, so off for our last walk now.

Sincere regards to all who are “off the road” at the moment. We have been there as well, in fact this holiday is a replacement for one we didn’t get a few years ago.

All packed and tidied ready to head home tomorrow, although we have a stopover night booked. Enjoyed ourselves immensely in one of our favourite areas, even if things didn’t go to plan weather wise. Nice meet up with some friends, renewed hellos with great cottage owners, played nicely with our new car, explored some places we have never been before, sampled some great local foods, bought some locally crafted goodies, and somehow, much to our relief, the blinking pampered pooch hasn’t needed a trip to the vets! He’s had a ball being chauffeured around at times in his chariot........ 😁

OH ordered something from Amazon recently and chose to use the local post office collection point as we would have been out with gate locked and it would have been too large (in the packaging) to fit in our post box by the gate.

We never take a charger away with us although we now use the drill to wind the motormover on and off as well as the legs. One battery just managed on our recent 10 sites for set up and take down etc. We do carry a second fully charged battery though

When we order from Amazon we usually use the local post office collection service if it is available and if not the Amazon Locker collection service from one of the supermarkets. I dont trust their drivers. They will dump the parcel anywhere they feel like it if we are not at home.

    Michelle's working this weekend.

Today servicing my pushbike, use it to travel to work most days.

Then cleaning the bathroom, ensuite, and downstairs bog!

It's not all glamour my life.

    Tomorrow dunno

I have been fortunate as I bought a Makita over 13 years ago with two batteries. It had a fair amount of use when after 8 years I bought two replacement batteries over 3 years ago in May 2016. The previous batteries were still just good for 7 sites each. The replacement batteries have been excellent 18V, 2000mAh, Ni-Cd, and I thought well priced at £19 each (not genuine Makita and a higher capacity) what gets me is the recharge speeds. No idea how long exactly but I plug them in charger and go back 20 mins later and they are charged.

Wellys and Mac - I hope the bathrooms will be up to standard? 😉

Im prepping a tapas meal. The first one I've ever cooked. It's going very well (organised) so far.....I feel as if something will go horribly wrong in a minute. 😐 The weather has turned on our side for a change. It's sunny outside after yesterday's torrential down pour. So there will be good food, good company and maybe a cocktail or two this afternoon.

    Enjoy your day everybody. 🍹

    Cheers ADD

    Almost gased myself.

Picture this, me, naked in the shower cubicle, bottle of bleach in one hand, kitchen scourer in the other, hot water, hello gas.

Me out of the shower, bleach on my feet, gasping, manage to wipe my soles, in a rush now, belt downstairs heading for the kitchen and a cold drink ,halfway into lounge, 🤩 oh hello sis in law, never heard you come in, belt back upstairs, pants on, return, have a conversation about pasta!

It's a good job our clan are young at heart!

All those not feeling so good, get well soon

All those touring, fingers crossed for the weather and continue to enjoy

Car mostly packed, will pick up van about 6.30pm and make our way to the ferry at Harwich.  Haven’t planned too much at the moment but don’t think we will spend more than 3 nights at each campsite, we might even be able to visit POI travelling between sites

Enjoy your trip Oneputt, nice to get away for a longer holiday.

Millie, did you get your new TV? We spent years peering at a very small TV and finally got a slightly bigger one which we've fixed low down on a alcove wall, it's cleared a bit of space below and looks ok.

Nice day here for our local flower show, OH went along to have a look at the exhibits and meet up with friends and neighbours, it's usually a good show but the recent rain has knocked back things.

Hope the weather is improving all round, the rain has rained quite enough! smile

We are still thinking about our options with the TV brue. OH doesnt rush these things!! I think we will have a word with our eldest son first as he is tech savie. I hope you are beginning to feel a bit better.

A much better day here weatherwise so we managed to make some progress in the garden which was looking a bit sad after all the wind and rain. That was after I had raided Aldi's baby week for our forthcoming great grandson. Hopefully it will give our grand-daughter and her fiance a good start with basics for the baby.

A much better day today, still very windy but at least it has been dry with some sun.

OH was out most of the day at one of his old Army units so I had a nice day to myself. Started off with a facial, body scrub and a foot  spar smile then a spot of lunch sat outside in the sunshine.

This afternoon i did a bit of pottering around, cleaned a few windows, gave the new deck another coat of oil.

I tried and failed to check the cat out, (next doors cat) she is doing a fair bit of scratching so though I would check to see if she has fleas. To say she was uncooperative is a joke laughing from the areas she allowed me to check I can't see anything wrong. Might just get a treatment anyway. undecided

All those away or going away have a good time and stay safe.

Those who are under the weather hope you all feel better soon.

Me, I'm ready for a holiday, starting to slow down now and feeling like a break. Another few weeks yet and still a few more jobs to do before then so will just have to keep at it.

We are cream crackered after a long day travelling, in a very nice B&B in Lechlade. Haven’t been into this area before, very nice. Some traffic down on first bit of M5, but it was moving, came off at Taunton, and wending our way home via the scenic route. Didn’t do Glastonbury, but had a break and lunch at Farleigh Hungerford Castle. Then up and onwards through Trowbridge, Devizes, Avebury and then Swindon. Straight through middle of Swindon, including the “Magic Roundabout”. Let’s just say it’s not on our must return agenda!😂 Maybe the Railway history bit......

    Might look at Chavanage tomorrow.........
