What are you all up to

I had a rowing machine. No digital readout though. I just looked at my watch to see how long it had taken to reach my boat. It was a full body workout hauling it up and down the slipway and manoeuvring it into its stand-up rack afterwards.

Hope all the folk not feeling good get well soon. WN not laughing at your pain but your posts are amusing.
Most school children except in Bavaria have returned to school the exception is Bavaria where they start on the 10th September.
Lovely day here did a river cruise from Zell to Cochem, 9 hours in total but stunning countryside with lots of really interesting villages. Weather was perfect dry and not too hot.
Tomorrow we have a long drag down to Bavaria, fortunately Mrs One will be take her turn at the wheel.

Topped up the Gaslow cylinders today. As we have been using mainly EHU sites it's taken a fair while to run them down, so this was the first fill up. Read the leaflet that came with it, watched the videos on YouTube. The only possible issue seemed to be connecting the filler, several folk seemed to struggle. In the event the filler was a slightly different design to those in the video and went on without issue.
The only problem was that the side of the pump I wanted was out of action and reversing onto the other side, in a busy oneway forecourt, was required. Thank goodness for rear view cameras.😀

Spent a few hours up in the back garden, we are on a steep slope, cutting back shrubs so I could check out the, unused these days, greenhouse. I can see that there is a lot that needs cut back after this hot and wet summer.
Then some woodturning, in my workshop (garage) working on some pens now I have finished a Sycamore bowl for my little sister's 70th birthday.
Strange to think that she can be that old!

It has been good for uplifting the spirits to read of peoples adventures.
That's because you've been all snug in the dry while others of us have had to face what we think could be the wettest August on record!!
Glad to hear that both you, WN, & brue are feeling somewhat better. hope that the improvement continues. Fingers crossed for a successful outcome re the caravan.
Brue, Isel Hall is one of the HHA houses, & free to members.
Normal admission price was £6, which would be good value. Our intro talk & tour took well over an hour.
Sounds as if you're having a good trip OP.

More rain through most of the night and still damp when we got up. Fortunately it had just about stopped by the time we set off and has only just started again! Easy 1.5 hr drive down to Newby Bridge and had a choise of 3 pitches which suited us fine. During our afternoon walk in Chapel House Wood, just over the A590 from the site, I spotted a Red Squirrel, so that made my day....I'm easily pleased that way!!

They say things go wrong in threes!!! First the O ring on the bathroom sink plug snapped. Just as some guests were arriving the latch on the front gate broke, I prefer my guests to walk in with a bottle of wine!!! Noticed that in the small bathroom the radiator paint was flaking off along the bottom so had to replace that. Only £17 for new one but my knees are not up changing radiators!!! Also because we have changed to a Combi Boiler I had to re-pressurise the system which took some working out. Trouble is I can only get the pressure up to one bar when it should be one and a half bar. I suspect I will have to check the other rads upstairs before I can get it to the right pressure!

Up and out weeding the front garden at 06:30 😮. OH went to work. It's amazing how many people walk past, having been to get their newspaper and say hello. I also tackled the tree which needed clipping back to get it into shape. For the first time I needed to use some small steps to reach the top branches.....did wonder if the neighbours would save me if it all went wrong! 😑
Now it's time to look at the back garden.....I need some of Tammygirls energy....starting to flag after just the front garden. 🙁
I hope recoveries are continuing in all CT posters.

Well done to your daughter JVB.

Strangely enough and ignoring a couple of much needed deluges we've had a dry August down our way, if only we only could guess the weather in advance!Well done to your daughter JVB.Piano tuner here today, "boing boing,"
I'm shut in the kitchen, after us he's going on to the local hospice to tune their piano. We have a fairly modern Yamaha piano that holds it's sound well so it's good to hear it brought up to pitch.

If that's Berwick upon Tweed, if your not aware or others reading, I can highly recommend the Lowry Trail
Series of outdoor proof pictures located at the exact spot they think Lowry painted them! Brilliant. The entire walk is for the able, but sections can be viewed by those less mobile. Well worth a look.
More rowing!
On a serious course of steroids for the skin condition on my hand, holiday food excess will not go away i think a link.
Sitting enjoying listening to the dishwasher, for a little while longer I think, then LBC on the DAB radio and more torture to my bum!
October holiday plans finalised with Michelle, off to work she goes. Brought me a present back from her trip to York yesterday, one of those reusable bamboo coffee cups. Been searching for one that was the right colour for ages, have one now, with my initial on, as does she!

Longish day today, left the Moselle at about 10 am this morning and arrived in Bavaria at 6pm. Hadn’t been on the road 10 mins when we had a diversion which took just over an hour on minor road with steep hills and hairpin bends, when we got free of the diversion we were only 12 miles from where we started. After tanking up just outside Munchen came across about 30 Storks in a field beside the road, couldn’t find anywhere to stop. Although sunny there has been a notable drop in the temperature. All set up now and sitting, glass in hand, viewing the outline of the mountains in the fading light 🌙

We hit a fair few "road closed" back in May. No diversions - just left to our own devices. Made an "interesting" trip.

Mixed day today, clear and dry this morning so did some clearing up after OH doing the big hedges yesterday. A couple of trips into town to the recycling centre, 2 trailer loads and the boot of the Kuga.
OH helped out at the lunch club today so I went into the shops. Took the new big car as OH had the Kuga, its easier for his oldies to get in and out of
I rather like driving the new one
Went out on Monday evening for dinner with eldest son, DIL and grandchildren. Granddaughter went back to school yesterday and her brother started there today. No dramas from him, he saw a few boys that he used to go to school with when they lived in Germany. The boys started messing about (like boys do) parents forgotten.
Son and DIL came to see us this afternoon for a cuppa and chat, they are going back down the road tomorrow, think it might be a very quiet drive
Rained for most of the afternoon and evening so far.

Rained again through the night but the day was dry. Managed to fit in 2 different Country Houses today, firstly stopping off at Holker Hall where we had a walk around the estate grounds with Flyte, spotting the Fallow Deer, before going round the gardens and then into the house. After lunch we drove onto Levens Hall and the visit followed the same pattern with a walk along by the river, where there were a herd of Black Fallow Deer, back for an amble round the gardens, where there were a couple of groups of 4 playing Croquet, before going into the house. Got all packed up ready to head home tomorrow and guess what it's started to rain again, so I suspect another soaking for me in a short while.

Cycled home, lights on, definitely darker.
Called for some cash, only need real money for hair cut and today is pay the house cleaner day.
Bed, then down to my favourite supermarket for healthy ketchup, less means you are charged more? And a Salmon, the Salmon steaks freezer drawer is looking empty. The very nice Fishmonger will sort me out.

I have been on duty at the Gaia Exhibition at Peterborough Cathedral this week. It is here until 15th September. Such an amazing experience especially in the evening when it is illuminated and a sound track is played. Some visitors were quite emotional. I am going to have a fairly quiet day today as it is quite tiring being on my feet for 4 hours at a time . On duty again tomorrow morning.
During the day yesterday OH and I took the conservatory furniture outside and gave it all a good clean and then I shampooed the dining room and living room carpets so am feeling quiet virtuous
I hope all those feeling unwell are recovering and those waiting for test results have a good outcome soon.

Sounds grand, Millie. You do seem to be enjoying the "Guiding" at the cathedral.
Has Mr H. settled into the gardening yet?
Recovery going well, thank you. Mrs WN says it must be as I'm less "Nowty". Only less mind you.
Had a stroke of luck. I need to see my own doctor and I rang the surgery yesterday and was told that he goes off on holiday on Saturday. Whilst on the phone though a cancellation for late tomorrow afternoon appeared so the receptionist nabbed it for me. They only give you 10 minutes and it would have taken longer to explain the ongoing problems with a new doctor so I was pleased. Is it 10 minutes with everyone else around the country? I'm half expecting them to have an hour glass half full of sand and to turn it over when you walk in the room.

Yes thanks WN I am enjoying my Welcoming duties at the Cathedral. I have decided to go on the course to be a Cathedral Guide in the autumn. One of the existing guides who shares Welcoming duties with me has offered to be my 'mentor'. I am not sure he realises what he has taken on
OH is enjoying his gardening role. He and another volunteer gardener have been given responsibility for the garden behind the new visitor centre which used to be a herb garden and was totally overgrown. They are enjoying the challenge. I am glad you are beginning to feel better. What good luck about your GP appointment. Yes it is 10 minutes for each appointment at our surgery a (or Medical Centre as we now have to call it
) as well.

It was weird reading your post Milliehull, as we did exactly the same yesterday in taking our conservatory furniture outside and giving it a clean and washing the floor. Didn’t get any carpets shampoo’d though. Our Doctor does 10 minute appointments too, that’s when you can get one!! I have been trying for weeks to get one with my preferred Doctor, never any available, I’ll keep trying.

Slow lazy day today for a change.
Went into town to collect my new glasses for the second time, first time the prescription was a bit too strong so they have adjusted it. Here's hoping this time its better.
Quick visit to my sister who had some upsetting news, her OH has to go for an MRI scan as he has an enlarged prostate.
Weather dry so far but its mighty chilly, think heating will be on tonight.
WN, yes 10 minute appointments here to, although we can ask for a double appointment if we have more than 1 issue.
heddlo, we have half the appointments we can book in advance, the rest are bookable on the day, so you have to be quick at 8 am to grab one.

I've spoken to three different doctors recently, we only have one full timer now and the rest are locums, some days there are no doctors at all. The other local medical centre has had no-one in, senior GP ill with stress etc. However we've all adapted to this and the one week wait for prescriptions! Roll on some new trainees and a lot more back up for them.
Sorry to hear about your sister's OH Tammyg, a worrying time while they wait. Hope you get on better with your new glasses, my new ones seem a bit strong but then if I take them off I can't read a thing!
We have nice warm weather and a good Bank Holiday forecast (the one we share with NI and Wales.)
KJ, if you're looking in I'm now in possession of some Flotemysost and some Syltetoy (cloudberry.)

Your Doctors appointment system sounds a good one Tammygirl. I have, in the last few weeks, tried our online booking system (at 8am), telephone calls, and calling into the surgery in person all to be told there are NO appointments available with my Doctor. Someone must be getting them somehow! I know he’s on holiday now, and we are away in Scotland from early September so perhaps after that I’ll try again.

Hope all get their appointments sorted and get positive news. We are lucky at home as our practice has 3 different surgeries so if your prepared to travel you can usually get an appointment within 24 hours. Luckily we can book on line so we don’t fight the morning scramble.
Got up Latish this morning and cloud had lifted so spectacular views of the mountains, only the Zugspitz had any cloud around it. After doing some shopping did the 3 lakes walk of about 4 miles of not too strenuous walking which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Oneputt, sounds like a good trip so far. Your posts are evoking all sorts of past memories of our time in Germany. Its been a longtime since we were down in that neck of the woods. Had thought of going this Spring but think it will now be next Spring time
