UK vans are admired by numerouse visitors from overseas ,as they like the layouts and on board kit,for the weight compared to what they have in their very heavy vans , and do not seem fazed by what some say about uk build quality, they also say their van are not fault free, but are looking to have more room for less weight ,and with the exchange rate low UK vans are atractive

Nelliethehooker thank goodness that you discovered the issue, otherwise the outcome could have been really awful. Good luck with the building work!
DavidKlyne Margaret's dental visit sounds like a good result from all points of view, looks, finance and pain! Now you can look forward to your trip, where are you heading?
Its raining here reasonably heavy and steady. Air outside feels fresher not still hot indoors. At least I dont have to consider trimming the grass, nowhere to put it anyway ๐.
Opticians for me this morning, trial of new contact lenses, 1st time for my right eye after cataract OP. Not quite sure how how feel........ At present I have a long sighted, replacement lens one, and my usual shortsighted eyes so it works fine without aids ๐. Optician very good but says my eyes may tire, only time will tell, and since I'm no longer 'forced' to stick at things for any length of time, unlike working days ๐ it may not be an issue! At the moment it looks like a wet walk into town.
It's good to read of others 'doings' enjoy your day folks

Two Zeppelins, OP? There only appeared to be one operating when we were there. Cycled out to the Dornier museum one day and could watch the comings and goings from the edge of the airfield. โฌ255 was a bit too steep for me to be tempted to take a ride.

Just got back from a lovely doggy walk across the fields on the CS we are staying on close to Malton. After the brief thunderstorm, last night, itโs much cooler than the oppressive heat we have had for the last four days.
Sadly we are leaving tomorrow, after two weeks here - so once the awning has dried, it will be packed away.
Talking to our friend, Andrew, who owns the farm, times are tough at the moment since the bottom has dropped out of the market for grain - lowest itโs been for 10 years, apparently. Must be a bit disheartening after all the hard work thatโs gone into bringing in the harvest - but another impact of Brexit.

I remember you writing about that a while back, certainly not good customer service from Tesco.
We often used to get the meal deal from M&S when it was ยฃ10, but now it is ยฃ12 we do not bother, but OH says it often included a fruit salad or cheese selection back then.
Now they apparently are doing different ยฃ10 deals, often 2 pizzas and 3 sides, have seen DD getting them. They freeze one pizza and at least one side for another day. Not really our type of thing however!
Thinking again on what DK was saying about 3 Waitrose meals, OH reckons it was the 3 complete meals for around ยฃ7, usually Italian dishes or cottage pie type things. We get them occasionally, but would be no use for you unfortunately WN. Apparently M&S do a similar deal.
3 meals for 2 people means we use 2 and the 3rd goes in the freezer.

Thanks Bakers2, I think she was lucky with the cost, only ยฃ45. At one stage we thought we would have to add another nought!!! We are heading off to Scotland. A bit of a tour but not too far north as we don't have the time.

That's good news David, we're hoping to head north in September too, I had better news from tests today so fingers crossed for all of us who are planning trips!
Much needed rain showers here, I love hearing the rain overnight, it's been so humid and one of our pyrotechnic neighbours decided to light a huge bonfire yesterday, through the night and the morning. The air is a lot better today!
Good to hear the Great Dorset Steam Fair went well for ABM. We have friends who meet up there every year, it's their big event, taking their motorhomes etc and having a good get together.

Great to hear the news Brue. Hope you are able to get away.
Had a brief walk this morning, getting back just before the heavens opened. Whoopee! Got to do a small supermarket shop. Almost worth getting better for.
An afternoon for trawling the internet for caravan deals and our energy deal finishes soon so might get stuck into that as well as we don't have an exit fee.
Jealous of Helen's plum festival.

The front of our house faces more or less West so we get the late afternoon/early evening sun. It's the devil's own job to know what to do for the best - open the windows, close the windows!!! It's been 27 degrees in our bedroom for the last few days at bedtime. Last night when I went to close the window up a bit I noticed a few rain drops on the glass but that was about the limit of it! Bit cooler today and a bit more cloud but still very nice. Local news at lunchtime showed that it was pouring with rain in Bedford, about 15 miles away!

'Twas certainly a GREAT Dorset Steam Fair for me , Brue
, But now its "after the Lord Mayor's Show" I'm afraid 'cos the soggy stuff is dropping from the sky { sorry, DK, but Brian's been ever so good lately
} so the tumble dryer is getting a full work-out !!
As for " children on camp sites " { a fraught subject else where on this forum today
} the little darlings all appeared to be seriously shattered on their return from the Fair to their 'vans, tents or whatever. Plenty of gentle music to lull us all to sleep but, even those pop group sound-a-likes were silent after midnight !!

So, are the hills alive with the sound of music?

Yes that one we saw but the other had either a blue fuselage or writing on the sides.
Suddenly about 10 French registered vans turned up, huddled together in a type of ghetto.
We also went to Edeka shopping, I think of it as the German Waitrose
been really hot today, max of 34C at 6pm itโs still 30C

Davidklyne similar to us but our front is slightly more north. I keep all upstairs curtains closed during the day, often the windows too. Opening up curtains and windows once the sun has gone off the windows. It helps a little, but doesn't solve.
Our Hall thermometer said 30c yesterday evening it's never said that when the heating is on ๐ฒ.
We joined friends yesterday afternoon who live on the same side of our road for a cuppa in their lounge with the fan on. We have all appreciated our north-ish lounges in hot summers but this year even they've been too too warm!

Glad the German trips are going well, looks and sounds very nice.
How lucky finding the electrical fault Nellie, doesnโt bear thinking about really.๐ฑ
Last night was unbelievably warm, rain but no thunderstorm here. Thankfully it has cooled off at last.
All you M&S and Waitrose Etc... meal deal users, make sure you check out the salt content. Some of the offerings are seriously high in salt. Ok every now and then but we are very wary.
Still raining here, but tomorrow looks a lot better๐

Glad you enjoyed the Steam Fair ABM, it sounds like a good event, our local steam fair is always very well attended.
Pleased your test results were good Brue.
Wherenext The Plum Festival at Pershore is a great weekend, they have different things on each day over the BH, and lots of Plums of course, it's free to attend too, but I always seem to spend plenty!
Good to read Germany trips and others are going well.
I've had an uninteresting day at work, but I have managed to complete the ironing and made a Plum Crumble Cake so been fairly busy.
Triky hope you enjoy your IOW trip and get plenty of R&R.

A "good event " H & T , hardly does it justice at 600 acres !!
Steam Vehicles, ploughing & carriage 'orses, , elderly caravans etc, market come car boot area, and oodles of fair organs as well as food stalls
WW 1 & 2 Memories etc etc - worth while having a peep at their website - if you should then look for " The Haunting " ( 2018 ) and " the Angels of Mons " ( 2019 ) two pieces of Blacksmiths Sculpture well worth the viewing I think.
Even a Church Tent for a cuppa { the Chaplain offered me a treat whilst I was in there, but they were the chihuahua sized bone shaped variety. A kind offer but I doubt if one of them would cure my hunger pangs tho' !!

The thing is that there's no way of knowing it was happening, just a slight drop in voltage occasionally, but even that was inconsistent. No persistent smell of burning either. Our PDU unit is, like most I would think, under the front seating/bed, covered with a plastic case and below wooden slats. Had a fire developed during the night I dread to thing what might have happened. Just glad that it failed when It did and was sussed out by the engineer quickly. The trip out certainly did it's job, thankfully.

The steam fayre sounds interesting ABM - glad you had a good time. Hope the German trip continues to go well AnotherDsvid. All the best for the I O.W trip, Tricky.
We're back from our five and half week tour of Cornwall, Dorset, Wiltshire and Hereford. Beautiful weather this last w/e now were back!! - but wet today! Spent today choosing and ordering the extra Christmas music for my U3A choir. Practising for Christmas starts in September! ๐ Hope we'll get chance to get a few short breaking in the caravan once routing has settled down (does it ever!!

Good to hear that you had a fine time at the Steam Fair ABM.
Have a good trip and plenty of rest on the IOW, Tricky.
The Plum Fest sounds like fun, Helen. Hopefully there'll still be some on the farm stalls as we head south next month.
It appear that those over there are having similar temperatures to those the south have had earlier this week. Enjoy your trips, OP & AD.
It's been much cooler at home for the last two days, and we've had the odd spot of rain, but not enough to water the garden unfortunately. However the Sunflowers are still looking good, with the largest now full of seeds.
Bit of a nothing day today, although I spent a shoulder aching couple of hours cleaning the kitchen's Venetian Blind, as it had not been done for years as we're seldom at home....well that's my excuse any way.

We liked Edeka but tended, where possible to use REWE which is of very similar quality because they accepted credit cards. Has Edeka started to accept them?

Beautiful morning here again, the real heat has gone, lovely! Definite feel of autumn coming, very slight breeze.
Just having a cuppa on the bench when sparrows kicked up a noise,in their conifer tower, a sparrowhawk had landed on a Rowan tree branch that's goes into the conifer. It flew off as silently as it arrived, without breakfast.
Brue nice to catch your garden wildlife, does the badge cause you issues?
Our hedgehog, visits nightly, I suspect we have more than one but no evidence. Not seen our fox for months and months.
ABM that steam dair sounds great. There was one in the field behind my parents house many many years ago lots of lovely market stalls with smallholders full of patter.
Nellie have a Venetian blind that I cannot keep looking good you're welcome to show me how it's done. Worse days listening I ever did when sales lady said a quick feather duster over and it's done ๐ฑ. Cant see how to get it down, not inclined too either. Its above the draining board and really awkward to deal with!
I have GP appointment, hope hes not running too late as I have to get OH to the hospital for 2pm. Cleaner coming in, so I'm all tidy ๐๐๐
