Sorry to hear about the virus Brue, and what a pain about the Motorhome damage Tricky.

Were on site at the moment and last Satursay moved from Hunter's Moon CAMC site to Bagwell Farm just outside Weymouth.  The site itself isn't too bad and the pitch we are on is quite large.  However, after 40 years of tenting, trailer tenting and caravanning, I can't  recall staying on a site that has been so consistently windy.  There are folk who come here year after year and I have asked them, is is always so windy?  "Yes", they reply!   I have been on sites where we have had wind for, say a couple of days, but we've been here since Saturday and there is no let up   If it's like this all the time, I can't see us returning.  We haven't put up any form of awning or canopy, but some have and they resemble balloons!  There is a constant knocking in of pegs and the collection of wind breaks has caused us to nickname it wind break city!

It's not very many sites where I think to myself, roll on Friday when we are due to move on!

The funniest thing must have been watching us eat our evening meal outside - Carol was determined - and we used the Cadac too.  Anyway, as a result we've decided on Pizza tomorrow night - using the caravan oven, and eating inside.  laughinglaughinglaughing

Port Logan Caravan Site...a CL, of course.  Great views over the Thomas Telford designed quay and bell tower to the bay and sandy beach.

Went around to to Portpatrick today and walked up to Dunskey Castle before lunch and then part of the Southern Upland way after. Got talking to a couple, as you do, and it turned out that they have a farm near Driffield and a CL, which should suit you as it's on the lane that leads to Yorkshire Water's Tophill Low Nature Reserve.

Picked blackberries today so just had our first crumble of the year

Didn't you stop at the South Port o'Spittal CL then, if I remember correctly?

We saw a half dozen Black Guillemots just outside of the harbour as we were having our lunch, as well a few sailing boats setting off across the North Channel towards Ireland.

The blackberries are nowhere near ripe enough for picking up here yet, and it will be a few weeks yet before they are.

What a memory Nell, we certainly did.  We had stunning views over to Northern Ireland as well. The area is great for wild life

Hired a picnic day boat for the day (a caravan boatsmile) and spent most of the day traveling at 4mph on the broads. Fantastic day.

    Thanks DSB

Sorry to hear that Bagwell has disappointed somewhat. I was trying to think about the area and then realised why Portland was chosen for some of the Olympic Sailing, so I guess some wind is probably straying up the Fleet. If you want a nice sheltered day with the dog try Abbotsbury sub Tropical Gardens, very nice cafΓ© there too, dogs welcome.

Thanks Brue.  We've nicknamed the site 'Bagwind' instead of calling it Bagwell. laughing

I know what you mean about the Portland area.  We always like to visit Portland, but we've usually stayed at Wareham and driven in.  Hunter's Moon only had 5 nights on a serviced pitch so we decided to come up the coast a bit before moving inland.

Might try the Sub-tropical gardens at Abbotsbury.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Last couple of hours in work this afternoon then a bit of food shopping before picking up my grandaughter. Drive down to Rooksbury tomorrow for an overnight stay before getting the ferry to IoW for 19 nights.

Forcast isn't great for the short crossing on Friday!

I second brue's recommendation of Abottsbury Sub Tropical Gardens DSB. I have a cousin who lives in the area and we have been with him and his wife. Wonderful place. Well worth a visit. If it is any consolation it is windy here at Houghton Mill as well!!

Hope you soon feel better brue.

No, not at the club site but not too far away. were going to the CCC site at Adgestone. Main reason was the heated on site pool the Granddaughter will make full use of.

Thanks for the tip for the Fighting Cock, i'll be sure to give it a try.

Wish you better brue. There's some funny old bugs around lots of folk think they've got shot of a bug only for it to return again.

Enjoy the IoW Whittaker, I can 2nd the pub, wasn't sure of it's name, a short walk from the Southland site. Heated on site pool sounds good.

Very breezy here today and a short shower this afternoon, not enough to stop me treating the front fence although I did have to come in for 10 minutes but rain didn't even damp the tarmac!

Both OH & I feeling better, the royal we!, he had has colonoscupy this morning not as bad a he feared, but he wants not to be mauled anymore! Results in 10-14 days, hopefully it will confirm it's meds that are the issue. I'm sure I can see a difference since he started B12 injections couple more to go.

Had boiler serviced Monday,  reason for warm rads in the house  great when it was 38c, is we need new motorised valve, naturally they don't make our one any more so new controller, tank thermostat and room thermostat. Pleasantly surprised with the estimate - work being done tomorrow.

In view of OH's procedure today we cancelled the fitting of the new conservatory roof from yesterday, new date unknown, but chap tried to deliver it yesterday morning. He collected it, I know not from where, but no-one told him it had been postponed, he was very amiable. Also means I have more breathing space to clear pots and other, useful but nowhere to put, stuff from between the conservatory and the fence.

Right teabreak over must finish current outdoor jobs before getting dinner.

Whoops spoke too soon. Now have a heavy shower and it's bouncing back off the ground. Thankfully the treated fence almost dry. I was adding a few more wedges to stop the panels rattling inbetween the upright concrete posts.  Well pleased with my sawing skills as much as my painting, well slapping the stuff on πŸ˜‚.

Busy day sorting out the shed and utility room smile only after we dropped the new car in at the dealers to have a tow bar fitted.

I'm getting to grips with driving the Kuga OH might not get it back wink

The work outside on the deck is now finished for the time being.  OH has now to replace two trellis panels and mend another one. I cut back (severely) a clematis Montana and the trellis underneath is rotting frown

A trip to the skip on the way to pick up the car from dealers, I love having a clear out and getting rid of the rubbish. Attic and front bedroom next laughing

Bakers2 I've got some fence/trellis painting to do, you don't fancy giving me a hand do you wink

We watched rain falling just outside our village this afternoon, not a drop fell in the village though smile managed to get the grass cut at the back of the house.

Another fine day after yet more rain in the night. I must say that so far we've been very lucky weather wise, but am a bit concerned for Friday as we move from Port Logan to Gatehouse of Fleet and the winds are forecast to be in the region of 40 mph, along with heavy rain.

Visited Castle Kennedy Gardens today. The wall garden in particular was blooming, and the whole estate is grand for walking as dogs are allowed, unlike at a couple of the other gardens close by. Then into Stranraer to fill up with fuel both for the car and ourselves.

Other grandparents were visiting Callum today, so we stayed away till later, when DD wanted us down with her to speak with a builder about roofing options for the leaky extension.  Seems there could be several options so next step is to involve an architect to advise on what is possible.

We stayed for dinner as SIL was on a boys' day out in Edinburgh with an old friend.  Callum was rather grumpy, we found out why later......he has another tooth coming through.  That is nine now.  He also has yet another cold, which no doubt he will be sharing with us!

No rain here, but a mix of sun and clouds.

Wow Husky that sounds quite serious. Good luck with your appointment, hope you don't have to wait too long for it. Please take all the advise offered and hopefully you'll see an improvement fairly quickly.

I've just had a text to see the doctor following blood test. Amazed I got an appointment with a nice doctor for 3 weeks. Offered nurse practitioner earlier but fear I will have to 'fight' my corner on Thyroxine levels πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. My retired GP was thyroid specialist and we understood each other πŸ˜‰.

We stay on a local farm CS that has eight Guinea fowl as guard dogs. They wander around and peer at anything that moves. You certainly know when they're around.

We use to keep them as pets. Given little chicks with a hen that was mothering them. Henny had to be locked away at night, but the offspring roosted in trees............guinea fowl yelling for Mum at 5am in the morning got too much for us, so we gave them away to a nice Farm Park. We often see their offspring when we visit.

Could well be Ianh in disguise HD, but he’s a long way from home if it is!

Peacocks and Guinea Fowl a definite no no for us, too noisy. We had one GF and realised it wasn't a good idea for neighbourly relations. wink

Discovered one of the reasons I've felt so unwell, BP was far too low, hence fainting sessions. More tests to sort now. Best wishes to Husky too.

Had to cancel our planned trip to Norway due to all this but at the 11th hour we were able to pass on our tickets to two family members who were free to go. Nice  adventure for them. Insurance returns were minimal so at least the holiday wasn't totally wasted.

Hope the rest of you are in good health and enjoying yourselves at home or away.

Brue I'm sorry to read you've had to cancel your Norway trip, but glad others can take your place, annoying about the insurance! Fingers crossed that you can get your tests sorted swiftly and get your blood pressure back up. Meanwhile take good care of yourself and enjoy some TLC.

Been another warm day here. Had the required work done this morning to the heating system - very neat, tidy and clean workmanship.

OH had dentist appointment this morning, all good just a clean. I had reflexology this afternoon, really enjoyed that. We've just returned from a stroll to our local park, nice to see it being used. Nice chat with a neighbour on the way back.

Son and granddog arrive tomorrow πŸ˜€ B&B required πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ he's meeting up with his groomsmen, but we will catch a glance of him too. DIL is busy harvesting, that's if the rain stays away.

Watching the weather forecast it looks like we're all in for some unseasonal weather over the coming days. Take care folks and batten down the hatches.
