We hit the Cheese Emporium and Pannier Market in Tavistock this morning. The town was very quiet, especially for August, although the weather is a tad iffy at the moment. I noticed campsite on road out up onto Moors was very quiet as well, so not just Club Sites.

Would love to get views on this!

We try to always get a fully serviced pitch, obviously prefer to have running water and grey waste ... brilliant.

But sometimes you can't and the one thing I hate is having to make 3 trips when you include the toilet cassette. There simply isn't enough water in these water hogs to have a shower each and still have enough for standard daily usage.

So my plan is, I've seen two 85ltr tanks where you can have one red and one white. These will sit on a small 18mm ply board that packs away flat in the back of the car. Setting it up on arrival would be to just bolt a couple of 12" wheels (inflated tyre type) onto it and a handle that has a van hitch on the front. Both tanks would have an inline 12v pump. One to pump from the white tank to the inlet (Get rid of the whale pump) the other would pump water from the waste pipe to the red tank.

Each day you would simply hook it up to the car and drive across the site to the waste area. The cassette would also have its own designated slot on the truck.

85ltrs is then more than enough for the daily usage without having to lug the barrels around making 3 trips. The cars 12v can also be used to speed pump the grey waste down the drain and might even double up as a caravan jet-wash.

Just waiting for the parts to arrive.

    Three trips?

Aquaroll pulled in one hand, Casette strapped to Wastemaster and pulled by other hand = one trip.

Or Jerry can type water container strapped to Wastemaster and Casette carried in other hand.

A static caravan might be a better option. Fully plumbed in. 🤔

We all do things differently but we don't use a 'water hog' nor do we have a 'wastemaster'

We have a 23 Ltr fresh water container and a 20 Ltr waste container.

We can both shower and still have water left in the container.

We don't use service pitches unless they come FOC

85 ltrs a day surprised even using our own facilities for everything this would last us 4 or 5 days.

If I was you I would rethink whether you are in the right hobby.

By the way the photo above is the correct way of doing things wink

Some of the pitches are a little lumpy David although we are on a level pitch. None of them are nearly as lumpy as some on Seacroft!! We had a dreadful pitch there last month (it was the only one left). Yes they are all grass pitches here bur very well drained and we have never had any problem. We like grass They have a motorhome service point here now. The site is really quiet today. The weekenders left this morning. No rain today, a really nice day with lots of sunny intervals (when it was very warm) but no humidity. Caught the bus into St Ives for a wander round the market this morning and then sat out and enjoyed the sun this afternoon.

We've had 4 good days weather wise, although there has been rain in the late evening and through the night. The sandy bay down from the site is the ideal place to let Flyte off for a run, so we've done a few walks along it. Have seen the odd Gannet and seal from time to time during our walks. Visited the Mull of Galloway on Saturday where we saw more Painted Ladies than we've ever seen before and spotted an Osprey being harassed by a couple of Gulls. Today we drove the short distance over to New England Bay and did a bit of the coastal path, where we spotted yet another seal and a score or so of Terns, as well as more Painted Ladies, Peacock and Red Admiral Butterflies.

Enjoy your time in the Forest of Dean, CY, and at Haughton Mill, millie.

Glad to hear that Trevor's ears is getting better, Helen.

We use the onsite facilities as much as possible JezW. The showers, toilets and washing up facilities which means we minimise our onboard water and toilet use so we dont have to refill our waterhog or empty our waste water or toilet cassette very often.

Not quite like that, ttda, when I stopped at Cadeside over night on my way dahn sarf - west a fortnight ago !  Pitched up for just the one night, in bed by 11 pm and had the chance to watch, thro the roof vent, a super electric storm banging away  !!  no rain, just a cracking display - if I'd been told it was on I'd have taken some industrial fireworks with me  cool

We like to lay in bed in MH watching night sky through heki. Mind, sometimes it’s covered in a layer of frost or snow, or we forget to shut it and wake up damp from rain😁

    1.   The exercise you would get fetching all that water and disposing of the waste, using the conventional method, would keep you fit!

    2.  You are not going to be popular blocking the water/waste area with a car plus that trailer, or hogging the tap for the time it takes to fill 85 litres.  Suggest you use MH service point instead.

    3.   What on earth do you need so much water for?!  We are not particularly sparing with the water, but even so, 2 showers would normally use only 40 litres.

    2. You are not going to be popular blocking the MH service point either while MHs queue behind you on the site road. I don’t envisage site wardens being too happy with the arrangement.

Please tell us it’s a wind up. 😀

Ever woken up to find a pigeon staring down at you? It’s quite surreal when you’re not fully sure if you’re asleep or awake. 😄

Seagull! Scary, but at least it didn’t poop on us!😂

One holiday in Penzance with Mum and Dad, cottage we stayed in had velux windows in two bedrooms. Mine was right over bed head. I used to fall asleep watching seagulls sliding down the window. Then there was the 4 am “fish, fish” scream as the blighters woke the whole town up! 🤣🤣🤣

Back on thread.....there’s always deep joy to be had finding out about the contraptions and devices folks have devised to make camping life more comfortable. One couple we knew had two huge St Bernard dogs so used to have a big panel van to pull their tiny caravan to CL. Dogs lived in panel van. We saw them a few years later, still with panel van, but this time one small JR type dog. Dog was now living in caravan. I asked why they still had big panel van. Doors opened, purpose built rack inside for carrying two big kegs of home brew! Delicious as well🍺

Perhaps consider a MH, you would then have 100 litres or so to play with before needing to empty and no need to hitch up to dump / fill up.

undecided what am i up to ??  WELL,,,I have decided to remove my 'Concorde' from where i had storage for the past 8 years,,due to yet another damage incurred to one side !!  "Oh ,,don't know anything about that " ,,"",CCTV camera does'nt cover that area""  ,,,yet somebody had made attempts to repair/fill/rub down etc ,,SO somebody DOES know !! surprised.I now have the vehicle at my boatyard ,and have spent the last three days rectifying the defect etc ,,which only leads to the other areas needing polishing to match !!  Aching muscles ,loads of black streak remover and " Auto Glym" and elbow grease !! ,,,Still,,will look very smart again for next months I.o.W trip .wink
