Anyone who has suffered due to the bad weather of the last couple of days has my complete sympathy . My last property was completely flooded out during a terrible storm , What had taken me 2years to renovate mother nature trashed in as many minutes.

May have escaped the water in Yorkshire. Not so with the van though. Just been back for a further damp check following some untoward readings at the annual service. Apparently they've gone up and this despite the fact that I had applied some DIY drying out with a fan heater around the affected area and had achieved some localised success. Dealer is getting back to Elddis so we will have to see what transpires.

That’s bad news CY. It’s selected parts of Yorkshire affected by floods, mainly in Dales, but I had to sit in car for ten minutes at Mums this afternoon, torrential downpour for a while. In between lovely sunshine.

CY, having been there with our MH, I can imagine how you and your OH are feeling right now. We had damp a few times in ours, thankfully it was sorted under warranty. Hope you get yours fixed ok.

Been into town and picked up my new car, smile well an MPV really, as its  going to be the new tow car. We are swapping cars for the time being, so I am having his Kuga and OH is having the new one a Toyota ProAce Verso I traded in my old Picanto that I've had since new 8 years ago frowncry loved it as it was great for nipping to town and no problem parking it anywhere.

Thunderstorm now gone but still got the rain on and off, pretty dark and miserable outside.

CY, Sorry to read about your damp readings, hope you can get it sorted.

Those in the Dales that have been flooded have my sympathy too, we have been flooded and it was horrible.  We were in the Dales back in May.

DSB  Glad you managed to sort a new number plate, enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Me. I've not been up to much, work mainly.

Enjoy the new car TG. We are looking forward to using ours on Dartmoor, got some nice places on Moor planned for picnics and wild swimming. OH tried his new shorty wet suit on yesterday ( he’s no longer allowed into cold water) it looked a bit tight round the chest, lots of grumbling going on. I have found a couple of lovely open air pools not far from our cottage....heated as well.

Well Mum has now been moved to rehabilitation centre,to get her strength back and prepare her for going home .

The sale of the shop is slowly going through , having to chase the solicitor, they charge enough and I end up doing some of the work yell

The wife had her eye test and was told she has the beginning of cataracts in both ,so have booked an appointment at the hospital , we seem to live at the hospital at the moment, she is already waiting for an appointment for a MRI scan on her shoulder,a CT scan on her lungs the final appointment for her hip , so it's going to be a fun end to the year cool

Oh ,and the BBQ ran out of gas half way through cooking a joint of pork frown

Sorry to hear about your problem, CY. Hope that you soon get it sorted.

It appears that we've been fortunate at Newton Stewart weather wise. Although we've has the occasional thunder and lightening the rain's not been too prolonged. Yesterday we drove down through Wigtown, Garlieston and onto the Isle of Whithorn, with a walk out at each place. Today we went up into Kirroughtree where we did the Largs Hill trail. Just got back to the caravan before a heavy downpour. Although it only lasted a few minutes had we still been out walking we would have soaked.

Hope that the new car lives up to expectations, TG. Will you be converting it into a M/H?

Good news and bad then HD. Glad to hear your Mum and the shop sale are progressing, but sympathies for all the tests your OH needs. I hope you manage to at least fit in some short breaks, even a couple of nights away can recharge the batteries. 🙂

Thanks, no intention of doing that NTH, its an 8  seater, one that all 8 seats can come out. We will be able to take out some of the seats and get the bikes inside + the usual clobber that we take with us on a long trip.

It will also be useful for when we have family days out as we will all be able to go in one vehicle.smile

We used to have a Kia Sedona from 2005 - 2010 as the tow car/family car  it was great, all the seats came out in that too, so when OH has a DIY spell it made a great 'workies' van laughing Tow bar should be fitted in the next 10 days or so, then we will get away for a few days to 'trial' it can't wait.

This ones a bit bigger than the Sedona but I'm looking forward to having a drive of it as the Sedona was my everyday car.

Sorry to hear that you had such a stressful visit to the Forest of Dean Helen and hope Trevor is beginning to feel better now.  Sorry also to hear that brue is under the weather as well. Best wishes to all those not feeling too good at the moment.  I am pleased to hear that your Mum is out of hospital HD and good luck with all the hospital appointments.  I know how you feel, OH seems to be spending quite a bit of time having tests and waiting for results this summer.  I hope all goes well for your OH. Enjoy your new car Tammygirl. It sounds great. Pleased to hear that you had such a great holiday Frances, apart from the journey home.

We are hoping to give the caravan a good clean tomorrow if we can get a few hours without rain as we are getting ready for our next trip out.  Just to Houghton Mill this time for 10 days.  The weather forecast doesn't look great but hopefully we will be able to get out and about.

Best wishes to all those either living or holidaying in The Yorkshire Dales who have been affected by the weather.  It is a part of the country that we know well and love as OH grew up near there and had many relations living in the Dales.

Lots of pruning of bushes and Lemon Balm before tomorrows green bin collection.

Decided to cook something unseasonal tonight and had Roast Turkey Breast with Roast Potatoes, Tendersts Brocolli and Tarragon cream sauce. Mrs WN wanted Mince Pies afterwards!🎅🎅

    Enjoy Houghton Mill, MH.

Day off from all the DIY and gardening today smile

Played with the new vehicle instead, took the middle and rear row of seats out and tried the bikes in. All fits no problem,  we had measured everything before hand but it was nice to see how easy they went in.

Then sort out some straps for securing them, a couple of pieces of foam to make sure they don't rub, job done.

Very pleased with it, I even took it for a drive smile the amount of space we have now is great even with the bikes inside.

Tow bar to be fitted next week at the dealership smile then we will get away to try it all out for a day or so.

As I'm now to be driving the Kuga I'd better get to grips with that next laughing

No rain today even though they said we would get some, not complaining think we've had enough for awhile.

Have a nice time at Houghton Mill millieH

Dinner sounded nice WN, I love a roast whatever the weather smile

Have a nice time at Houghton Mill, again, milliewink

Dinner sounded delicious, hope that it tasted as good as it sounds. WN,

Glad that the new vehicle meets with your approval, TG. Hope that you soon get used to driving the Kuga.

Glad to hear that your mum is progressing, and so too is the sale of the shop, HD.

Another day of mixed weather, although we got out again for a decent walk, up past Black Loch on the New Galloway road. We had a heavy rain shower around 6 this evening and the sky is looking heavy at the moment. Our last night at Newton Stewart before we move onto Port Logan for a week. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we find plenty of places to explore.

Millie H, enjoy your stay at Houghton Mill.

Former club site now run by the National Trust.  Stayed there recently and thoroughly enjoyed the well kept site with its friendly wardens.

Better condition than when I last stayed and it was run by this club.

Grass pitches were A1 and I trust that they still are for you, if that is what you prefer.

So glad your new car is a success tammygirl.

Hope the weather picks up for you nellie although you sound as though you are getting out and about.

Interesting day for me as I had a training session for the Exhibition Assistants for The Gaia Exhibition at Peterborough Cathedral and then met up with 2 good friends for a cup of tea afterwards

Another warm and humid day down at DD's house.   Quite cloudy at times, but when the sun broke through it was really hot......too hot!

We bought a little swing for Callum last week, so today I made some wooden boards (left over decking) for it to be secured to and they are now fixed down to the lawn.  When he is a big bigger, the legs of the swing can be extended, and then I will concrete them in.

After all the hedge cutting earlier in the week, we can now access the space between side of  their garage and the boundary, so SIL and I have been moving all the spare tiles and junk sitting in there so we can clear out all the debris with a view to laying some slabs and fitting a gate.  There may even already be some slabs under all the debris, need to take a big shovel down tomorrow to scoop it all out as it is very wet.

Good roof tiles have been stashed in the garage, broken ones and a load of cardboard and other stuff will be going to the tip.

There was a drip from the gutter above the garage door, so I have cleaned out the gutter and hopefully managed to seal it up.

OH was kept busy doing washing for them, and looking after Callum in the afternoon, so we were both worn out by dinner time!

    More of the same tomorrow.

We tend to record a radio programme on Radio 3 to replay in the evening as we don't watch a great deal of TV.

I've just heard the announcer say that a Primary School teacher had been in touch following the playing of a piece of Chopin piano music. He had played the piece to his class of young pupils and asked them what they thought of when listening to it.

A young girl had said that "God must have been listening to it when he made the Flowers".smile

Now isn't that a most wonderful thing to hear, regardless of whether you are a believer or not.

The teacher must have been delighted.

Phew! what a day that was, never stopped all day. Even by our 'norm'  it was a hard day. It would appear that OH has now FINISHED smile very nice it looks too.

I started the day at the sewing machine until the grass dried out, washing machine on, then all hung out in the lovely sunshine. Next was the green house, all emptied and cleared out of things no longer needed. Pots cleaned and stacked, tools cleaned. Then a mega re-potting up of all the new plants I've been growing. Didn't come in until 19.00. Cook tea then time to catch up on CT, still a lovely night outside but I'm to tired to enjoy it.smile

Hope you all had a good day.

Good News today, our youngest son and his girlfriend finally, after a few delays got the keys to their new home. They have already started stripping wallpaper laughing The house needs quite a bit of work, and they have big plans.

After a trip to the GP yesterday  for Trevor as his ear wasn't improving,  it was a trip to the JR hospital today to have a camera inserted in his ear. The infection is in his inner ear, but the spray from the GP had made things worse and he now has a perforated ear drum!  He now has 2 sets of drops to use and has to go back to have it cleaned out again in 10 days.

I had a trip into town and then work, it's been a fairly quiet week. smile

Millie hope you have a lovely time at Houghton Mill.

Yes, very bad news for your OH Helen. Hope he picks up quickly.

We endured the hell that is the M1 on a Friday, nothing to hold us up but very busy. Had a nice afternoon at Charlecote, then wended our way to Cirencester via Bibury to avoid a bit of traffic on A429. Holed up in a lovely pub now for this evening, well fed and full of cider! Lovely evening here now.😁

So sorry to hear about Trevor Helen. I do hope the drops do the trick. Good news about your son and his girlfriend's house. They must be so excited to be in their own home and getting on with the refurbishment.

We managed to give the van a bit of a clean yesterday before the rain came.

    Have a good trip TDA.
