Also meant to add the journey home today was horrible. It normally takes us 4 hours to get home from Blackpool when towing but today was almost 7. Took an hour and a half to get to the M6 due to a crash and then further up the M6 in the Lakes there was another long delay due to another crash ( hope nobody was seriously injured) and then to top it off a road about 10 miles frol home was closed so another diversion. It’s been a long day.

I'm sitting in the twilight zone. There was a big bang outside over an hour and many of us have no electricity or it's reduced. We've been told it should be fixed by 10.30 which is good as thunder storms are threatened and it might all go again! wink

We arrived home at lunchtime after our rather anxious weekend away, which included a trip to the walk in medical centre at a local minor injuries unit near Cinderford on Sunday morning. Trevor's ear infection had got much worse, the spray our doctor had given him was actually making things worse..undecided He came away with a prescription for some strong oral antibiotics,  so it was then a quick trip to Monmouth to find a chemist open.  We will have to plan another trip to the area so we can explore more of  the area as there is plenty to do.

Can't believe how much rain some areas have had, our son said many parts of Manchester had serious flooding. We had lovely weather in the Forest of Dean.

It was back to work this afternoon, boss is on holiday so it should be a quiet week. wink

Nellie, we stayed at High meadow Farm CL, it is in a lovely area, very quiet and has footpath to Coleford opposite the entrance and a bridleway to Newland  just down the road..

The site however was a little disappointing, it could however  be really lovely with a little tlc.  Parts of the site were sloping,  but with careful pitching it was ok.The grass was very long which wasn't too much of a problem as the weather was good, CDP was a bit primative, straight into a septic tank. On leaving took the general rubbish to the bin which was crawling with maggots! surprised The owners however  were really lovely and lots of area info in the shed. It was a shame as it was in an good location. Not sure if I would recommend or not.undecided

Thanks Brue,  it was a bit worrying. Tablets seem to be working, although the antibiotics are making him a bit nauseous .

Thanks Helen, I think we'll give that one a miss, and wait to see what the one where Moulesy's going to stay is like, for a future visit. Sorry to read about Trevor's ear infection and hope that the new treatment sorts it out quickly.

It was a shame the nice CL we use to use in the area closed.cry

What a day we've had today.  Travelled from our site in Redruth Cornwall to Hunter's Moon CAMC site, Wareham.  When we arrived, we realised that the number plate had fallen off the back of the car at some stage.  To get a new one, I need the car log book which unfortunately I have left at home.  Apparently you can get a eV948 - just need to find out how to get one tomorrow.

We came to pitch the caravan and the motormover kept cutting out - I think it could well be a leisure battery problem.  We'll just have to manage until I can work it out.

Oh.... and then the external water pump 'developed a problem' - one of the tubes at the bottom is loose and sometimes stops the water...

Due for a thunderstorm soon too - although everything is very quiet at the moment.

If not that David it could be interference. We had the problem a couple of times when someone close by was also using a mover. They were also experiencing difficulties. When one of us stopped the problem disappeared.

Sorry to hear that David. Hope things are going better today although I expect you've got the heavy showers like us today. I like Wareham, hope you enjoy your stay after the not so good start.

I've joined Helen's OH, now on antibiotics too , frowndue to a sinus/ear problem. These are the tablets I've had before where I have to avoid sunlight which I think I can successfully do today! Me and the visiting dog are couch potatoes just now.

The Hawthorns site looks good, nice to see possibilities, we've never tried the Forest of Dean.

     Good luck Brue, and Trevor.

Had an early appointment at the doctors this morning. Quite funny as their call in system had 2 patients arriving at the same time at the doctors door! Thought it was a new Govt. initiative.smile Yet another set of tablets to try to get rid of this persistent cough.

Able to get a short walk in this morning before the rain arrived just after lunch.

When you can order a new plate, I suggest getting 2 plates and carrying the spare when on holiday.  When abroad It would be even more difficult if you lost a plate.

Sunny this morning but rain came on about 2pm.  Stopped now, but still very dull.

OH had eye test at 11, she is to be referred for cataract surgery as the right eye has deteriorated rapidly, waiting time is about 5 months, so that will get it out of the way at a convenient time.

    Meantime she needs new lenses.

Afterwards we went to Waitrose, first visit in ages, as we had £8 off £40 vouchers which arrived while we were on holiday.  Those, combined with the 1/3 off offers and some reduced items resulted in a very satisfactory trip!

Dental appointments made for late August.

Nah, my prime reason is because I don’t seem to exist. I have a paper driving license, no bus pass as not old enough and no passport, so just occasionally it’s a nightmare. I tried to open a joint bank account for me and Mum so that I could help her do things. Couldn’t use Mums bank as they wouldn’t accept my ID. I ended up taking her to my Bank and opening an account there, purely because they knew me. The irony is, all I need to get a passport is my birth certificate, which doesn’t seem proof enough for other things. Stupidity reigns. 🤨

Thanks for the link Moulesy,  it does look a nice site. I will look forward to your report.

Sorry to hear you are unwell Brue, hope the antibiotics work. Trevor does seem a bit better, he went down to check on how the MG is progessing, respray complete, the polishing about to begin.

I collected my new glasses today, they feel very different, but everything looks a lot sharper now.smile

TTDA Good luck with the passport application. I don't have a passport either, but as I can't see me going abroad any time soon, I begrudge the expense laughing

I’m in no rush for passport, it’s a means to help with other things. No idea how much it is yet, after trying to access Gov tax website about something else my brain has given up.

Sorry to hear about illnesses, hope folks get sorted soon.

We have had torrential rain here today, just seen parts of County are badly flooded, including Leyburn and Masham.

    Thanks for the comments folks.

We thought through all the possibilities and, as it was such a wet and horrible day today, we decided on the 160 mile trip home for the V5 document!  We managed with a piece of card with the registration put on with felt pen.  Totally illegal, but we got away with it!  The most difficult job was to get someone who could make up a 'square' numberplate.  Our local Halfords no longer supply square plates.  We eventually found a company who could do it within a couple of hours (they had to get the blank in).

The water pump problem is a lose pipe that sometimes works off - I'm going to need to get a clip to hold it.

I'm pretty sure the motor mover function is a leisure battery problem.  I'll look to see if I get a 'substantial' voltage drop when I engage the rollers when we moved from here on Saturday.

No thunderstorm today on our travels, but the rain was very heavy indeed.  Hope for better weather tomorrow.

What an I doing today, well pretty much the norm so won't bore you with the details but in a little while I'm going into town to pick up my new to me car smile   then I need to go shopping frown

We have a thunderstorm going round and round at the moment, we had really heavy rain for about 15 minutes garden path and the pavement outside were awash, its amazing how quickly it can flood.

Really feel for those who are suffering from the rain yesterday.

All those feeling under the weather hope you feel better soon.

DSB glad you got your number plate sorted, really bad nowadays for trying to get these done.

I'm off now to get cleaned up and into town smile
