Congratulations from us too, M. Hope you both enjoyed your meal tonight.
Glad that you've made it to Blackpool safely, Francis.
Very heavy and persistent rain here all afternoon and evening. I have managed a couple of walks without getting wet from the site, and we had an hour's dry walk along the Annandale Way after calling in at Aldi this morning. Our last night here before moving on to Newton Stewart tomorrow.

Still steadily raining here. It did dry up for an hour or so even drying hard surfaces, didnt get my washing out as chatting with Northumberland friend 😃. Looks like more of the same tomorrow. Maybe slightly fresher but not much. Could someone please turn off the tap now?

Congrats to the Moulesys. (Give that woman a medal).
Picked up the Ladies tonight from the airport. Should have been this afternoon but they were 2 hours late. Horrendous conditions on the motorway getting to the airport.
Nice to have them back.

Another sunny dry day here. Certainly good weather for all the holidaymakers in the south west. Hoping we might get some rain in the week, have forgotten what it looks like!
Visiting dog arriving soon so can enjoy some local walks with him for a few days.
Hope the Moulesys enjoyed their celebratory meal.

Finally got some rain here yesterday and today, but nothing heavy.
Looked after Callum yesterday while his parents went out, first for shopping and then to the library to see if the archives could shed any light on the history of their house.
The house has been altered and added to over the years, so they are interested to have details of how it used to be, and structural info on the alterations and newer additions.
We will be back there tomorrow as they have a gardener coming, plus we are baby-sitting in the evening.

Thank you to everyone for your good wishes yesterday. We had a very enjoyable day and a nice meal out in the evening. And just to prove what a small world it is, sitting across on the other side of the restaurant to us were a couple who, up to 3 years ago, we're our next door neighbours!

Glad you had a lovely celebration day moulesy.
KjellNN you're soon back in the swing. 😉 I expect callus was pleased to see you both.
Rain finally ceased here about 1pm only 17c felt rather chilly as the wind is coming from northerly direction. Got my washing out to dry. Sun broken through now and it's 19c.
Been preparing for a few days visit from friends who live in Scotland arriving tomorrow.
Hear there's been floods in some areas, hope you're not affected. Rain here has been just what the garden ordered, gentle and lasted 48 hours. Son says 2nd round of his golf club, Stamford, competition cancelled due to the floods/rains.

It has dried up enough this afternoon and quite warm so have given grass another cut,had to be very careful on lower lawn as baby frogs every where, spent more time putting them back in the pond than cutting grass,so now knacked and second blackberry pick now put off,Rosa happy as she was not bored on her walk this time

Been pouring down here in Blackpool for most of the day. Couple of vans left the CL this morning so just us and another 2 caravans left now. After yesterday’s long drive we had a relaxing morning then headed along to Preston Caravans for a look around ended up buying a Suncamp Sun canopy that goes on the side of the van. When we had the motorhome we had a roll out sun canopy and have really missed it since we went back to caravanning. Apparently it goes on in 10 mins so will be handy when we are just away for a weekend means we have somewhere to sit even when it rains. No point in trying it out on this trip as we are heading home shortly but we have a weekend booked in a couple of weeks so will try it then. In the afternoon we headed in to Clevelys for a walk around it’s one of our favourite places but today it felt more like October than July the place was empty.
Hope me everyone else is having a nice weekend

Day has ended sunny here, so hoping it will be dry enough tomorrow for the gardener to do all the hedges and cut back some shrubs and trees.
Yes, B2, slowly getting back into the swing of things now we have been home for a week and all the washing etc has been dealt with.
We had a lovely welcome from Callum, big smile and arms up to be lifted up. He also says "bup", which we presume means "up". He has quite a few words he is trying out now, many of them understandable, but the rest is still a mystery to the rest of us!
He is very active, running around everywhere, not always a good idea when you run into the corner of a table!
Fortunately we had fitted bumpers on all the corners, but he still has a big bruise on his forehead.
Yesterday I had the stepladder out and he was right up there after me, absolutely no fear! Mummy and Gran were there to make sure he did not fall.

Weather picked up this afternoon so work outside went well
I've been busy indoors making a privacy/wind blocker, very pleased with my efforts. It will attach to the awning rail at the side of the caravan and clip onto the legs of the sun canopy so no poles needed
I've also started making tie backs for the curtains in the caravan, the ones on there have velcro on them to hold them back, it doesn't work and the hooks catch on the curtain fabric pulling threads.
Our next door neighbours have now got a puppy
wonder how long that will last before they get fed up with it. Its a lovely golden lab, the little girl is frightened of it and has spent all day screaming and crying. Parents think its funny
the little boy is of course chasing it round the garden shouting his head off (hence me being indoors) their poor little cat is spending more and more time with us and our other neighbour.
We've had a terrible drama late this afternoon, police helicopter circling overhead, fire tender up and down the road lights and claxton going, fire car with inflatable boat on a trailer up and down the road. Turns out there has been another accident of the river Tay, another youth 14/15 year old, been airlifted to Dundee to Ninewells hospital no news yet as to his state. Its a popular rafting and canoeing part of the river always has been, however the young ones are now messing about with paddle boards and getting into problems.
Francis, we have a Vango sun canopy which we use on the caravan, very pleased with it. So far it has stood up well to rain and wind, we don't bother with an awning these days since having a MH, just the canopy. If its not good enough to sit out we go in.

Belated congratulation Mr and Mrs M. I am glad you had good day and your cruise in Portugal sounds lovely. I hope you enjoy it.
Your weather in Blackpool sounds very like ours Francis. It started raining yesterday morning and has only just stopped. Quite a change from a few days go.
I hope you have a lovely time with your visitors Bakes2.
Nice to hear that your ladies are back home safely WN. Best of luck with the camera and hope they get your cough sorted out.
I hope you have had a good weekend in The Forest of Dean Helen and that Trevor's ear infection is better.
We have just had a phone call from son in NI to let us know that our grandson has had a fall and a visit to hospital in Belfast and now has 7 stiches in his head. We are awaiting a photo of the damage. As I said to our son perhaps he now knows what he and his brother put us through!!

Is that the one that is only a roof, or the one with the curved front, and built in sides?
Last year, after our Fiamma fell apart, we bought a Sunncamp Swift canopy, the one with the side bits, and we are very pleased with it.
We found we mainly used only the sides with the Fiamma, with just a roof you do not get much shelter from wind or rain, so we wanted something lightweight that gave the extra shelter.
Takes us about 20 minutes to put up well, there are 16 pegs to hammer in, but then we are older and slower these days! Our time is improving as we get more experience. We have the 3.9m one and find it a good size for our table and chairs, cool box, little oven, and occasional clothes drying, as well as sheltering the door from rain.
We only put it up if staying more than 3 nights. It has stood up well to some windy weather, the only problem we found is that in very windy weather the end of the centre roof pole thunks against the side of the van. Did not do any damage, but very annoying. I took it out, and found that it works just as well without it!

It’s the one with just the roof no sides and is the 280 version. We were only looking for a bit of shelter just so we can sit out and use the Cadac even if it is a bit rainy. When we had the motorhome the canopy was great just for a bit of shelter so we are hoping this one will be the same. It is in a compact bag and does come with 3 poles and ropes to tie it down. Looking forward to trying it out in a couple of weeks. I will update how we get on once we try it.

KjellNN thanks for the info about the Suncamp Swift Canopy. I read with interest as we are considering buying one. Not sure which size to buy until we measure the van this weekend. (Not stored at home) We have a coachman VIP two berth and would like to buy the 390 to cover the whole of one side of the caravan without fowling the window or toilet cassette.

I'm another fan of the Sunncamp range. I think they're very good quality and very competitively priced - plus they're lightweight - so easy to put on the rail and simple to dry if wet. We bought a Swift 220 some 5 years ago for all of £85 and it's still going strong but have since added a 390 Air to our collection and even that was a fairly modest £350 during an end of season sale. Whilst we use a Kampa 390 for most of our summer trips, the lightweight Sunncamp comes into its own in winter.

Another day of wall to wall sunshine, just walked round the adjoining wheat field and it's ready to crop...but rain and thunderstorms forecast early AM. The air round here is very dry and dusty so hope we do get some of the wet stuff but also hope the wheat doesn't get flattened. Last year they did a late night dash to get it in!
Cold bug has come back to annoy me, don't think the air is helping.
We wouldn't be without our roll out canopy, hope yours works well Francis.

Thanks tammygirl. I am sure he will be fine after a few quiet days. As we both know boys will be boys 😁

Summer has returned to Norfolk. Spent a great day on the broads from Wroxham.

That’s us home after a wonderful 3 week trip away. The New Forest was great lots of lovely places and so many things to do it is penciled back in for a visit in the future because there were lots of other things we wanted to do but ran out of time. Weather was great most of our stay there in fact a couple of days were actually a bit too warm but we made the most of the numerous country pubs with beer gardens. Beaulieu car museum was my personal favourite on this trip and SWMBO loved the boat trip we took round Poole harbour.
Made our way up to Old Mill Cottage CL just outside Blackpool and had a couple of nice days there although the weather was terrible. If anyone is in the area I recommend this CL it’s very peaceful and the owner is very friendly and helpful and at only £12.50 per night it is excellent value for money especially when you consider the club site a few miles away is charging over £30 per night at this time of year.
Thanks for the info regarding the sun canopy we have a couple of nights away booked for the end of next week at a local site so will try it then.

Pretty dull day here today not cold but cooler, still T shirt weather so all's good.
Quiet morning mooching about, then this afternoon a bit more painting for me to do outside and some gardening.
OH was working on my little car, he dismantled the 'A' frame bits and bobs + the wiring that we had put on, when we used to tow the car behind the MH. Pretty hard work as some of the bolts must have been put on with an air gun. The car is now fully restored to it original self
