What a mistake to make.  Put our sun canopy up this morning and forgot that the awning rail is higher than the Lunar so got a 3 or 4 inch gap round the bottom, never mind allows for more air flowlaughing

Going to have lazy day today as it’s already 28C.  Hope Martin (owner/farmer) has air on in the cab as he and his team are full swing harvesting Oil Seed Rape.

Lots of thunder and lightning during the night. Woke early and opened all the doors and windows to let the cooler air in. Now all shut again with the curtains shut and ceiling fan on. I've got a day off work today to look after the visiting dogs. OH was off yesterday ....... He took the dogs out early before it got too hot. I got a text at work to say that the cocker spaniel had "found" the ditch at the end of the playing field and was now mucky. 🙄 Then by lunch time, she had also decided to try sycronised swimming with the koi in the garden pond! 😮😐 I'm in charge of them today so calm has been restored!! 😅

    • We had a thunder storm last night too went on for well over an hour the lightening lit up the whole sky we sat out in the awning to watch it also had a few bursts of Hale stones. Very very warm here today I was up early and off out a cycle and then came back and cooked breakfast on the Cadac. Don’t think we will be venturing too far from site today I think most people have the same idea lots just sitting out relaxing. Weather on this trip has been good certainly can’t complain.

I think our pooch will be swimming today, if not it will be.........the bucket! We bought him a swimming pool last year, but he refused point blank even to chase floating biscuits. Obviously not dirty enough.........

Swimming is good for him, so long as he doesn’t go at it madly. Hated being in therapy pool though........

Tammygirl did you sleep in your caravan whilst it was being serviced? Just curious/nosy?

We stayed at a CL close by took the van in at 9am and spent the day out, collected van and went back to CL at 4.30pm for the night.

Its a 90 mile drive each way otherwise. In the past OH has got up early and driven up dropped van off then driven back home and collected van a couple of days later.

Thought this time we would have a break from the work wink

Glad you have someone to give a hand with the garden, I must resume my gardening at the care home now I have mine under control again.

Hot and muggy here today, a bit of wind has now started so might feel a bit better outside. We had heavy rain last night and a thunderstorm in the early hours lasted about an hour.

OH now back from his 'lunch club duties' while he was away I did some painting of bits of wood he left for me, they are now dry so he can get on with installing the Polycarbonate windows. I will be back in the garden doing ................laughinglaughing

Where is all this hot weather? Here at New England Bay it is sunny, but very windy. So much so, we’ve retreated to the awning.

Goldie it's scorching here.  The garden thermometer is reading 30 degrees in the shade. We've retreated inside to a cool living room. ⛱

    Have a good time Corners!

Said goodbye to the family today, a lot of clearing up to do! Hopefully will see them again briefly in September when we do a northern trip.

Beautiful sea colour in Cornwall Moulesy, it always is and I hear it's fairly warm for a swim too. Would like to be there now but we're landlocked for a few more weeks. Might venture down to the Dorset coast one evening. smile

We love Zennor area. The YH tea rooms are very nice. If you haven’t been M, can highly recommend walking down to Portheras Cove ( but not from Pendeen Lighthouse, but from other way, parking near Farm). It’s a great walk, stunning views with a swimming beach to die for. Not lifeguarded though, and rip tides can be challenging. We only swim on an incoming tide.

The dog (and us) have had a lovely day! Roof off new Jeep, so a good breeze, then a walk along Chesterfield canal to our favourite picnic spot, thankfully in shade and a cool breeze. I almost got in with the dog! He is now trashed, sleeping a good day off in his damp bed! Won’t be able to walk tomorrow.........🐾🐾🐾🐾

Went to St Peters on the Wall just outside Bradwell on Sea.  Been a church on the same site since about 662AD.

Sorry about not replying yesterday but WiFi is very iffy!!

Safe trip Nellie, which direction are we heading this time?

Thanks,Helen, WN & brue, we're now up in Dumfries & Galloway and are away for just over 4 weeks.

I'm impressed with your early morning walk yesterday WN. Can't you sleep without OH there to snuggle up to?

I think that I too will have to drop into to see the optician, for an eyetest at least, before the end of the year, as I was a bit concerned about my eyes driving up yesterday.

We had both lightening and several loud cracks of thunder in the night, and then heavy rain for a while, but it had stopped by the morning. We woke to low heavy clouds and only saw the sun for a short while this evening, and doubt it got above 20C. Visited Kirkconnel Church, where Helen Irving ( Fair Helen of the ballard) is buried, and then to the Roman Fortlet and Camp on Burnswark Hill.

    Oh well jel 😂

She cooked in this heat? 😱😱

Spoke to soon not a breathe of air now. Still 30c, was 34c at Writtle College, where there us an official weather station, a couple of miles as the crow flies. Hopefully that's the peak.

Hope you liked St Peter's? Not much from the outside but lovely walk down, and very special atmosphere. I take it you didn't walk along the river and round the coast? 😂😂. Not been for ages, did you pass the power station? Are they dismantling it?

We had some very useful heavy rain overnight so the garden looked a lot fresher this morning. We had a lovely day on the Great Central Steam Railway today with friends and we all coped with the heat very well.  Not as hot as yesterday but it is now a very hot and muggy evening.  We will see what tomorrow brings as the forecast is for very high temperatures. No plans at the moment.

Our neighbours were in their jacuzzi In their garden this evening.  I am so envious.

I hope you are not missing your family too much brue.  The house always seems so quiet after they go doesn't it.

I am glad everyone that is away is having a good time. Take care in the heat and try to keep cool.

Heat no problem for Adrienne she just loves baking.

Didnt walk round coast as still 33C when we set out. As you say atmospheric and still used, in fact there is a service there each Thursday morning.

Didn't pass close to the PS but the building seem intact.

The conveyors used to offload the spoil from cross rail at Wallasey is finally being dismantle

Hot and humid here all day.  Spent the afternoon at DD's house, laying a few slabs as a temporary BBQ base, with SIL doing the heavy work, then we trundled the BBQ round from the garage, connected up the gas, and covered it all up with a BBQ cover and tarpaulin as rain is forecast.

Earlier our woodturning club met up at the Cancer treatment centre in Glasgow to hand over wig stands which we had all made recently.  They were well received, and we plan to make several more, good to be able to make something useful.

OH has started trying to plan our next trip, late September onwards for about 25 nights.  Had thought to head to south of England, but have decided that is too far for only 3-4 weeks, so have splashed out on a 4 night Monday to Friday stay at CAMC Edinburgh for our first stop.  MWD makes it just under £19 per night.

That leaves us with the problem of where to go for Friday/Saturday/Sunday, as Edinburgh is not that far away.   Hoping to see a couple of places that were closed for refurbishment last time we visited.

Will probably head south after that, TG......did you not stay on a CCC site in Northumberland no so long ago?  Which one and how was it?

Kj,  we stayed at Beadnell Bay. It was lovely, open site just across the road from a beach and not far to Seahouses, we cycled there but some folk walked in. It was a good site in a good place and the price was good as we got the age discount smile would use the site again no problem, weekends are busier with families but during the week out of school holidays its very quiet.

Just to add we've used the Dunstanburgh Castle C&CC site, not far from the Beadnell site and I think I'd prefer to use Beadnell another time as it's so close to the sea. Dunstanburgh is very pleasant though with Craster nearby if you want to try the famous kippers!

Like TG says Beadnell is very popular at weekends because of the beach access.

Apologies, should have called it the Dunstan Hill site, there's a nice walk to the beach and then onwards to Dunstanburgh Castle (also parking at by beach and food at the golf club.) We had a good meal with our son and family at the Joiners Arms (Newton by the Sea) not long ago.

Kj - there's also a very nice independent site at Beal. All pitches have views out to sea and there's a lovely restaurant and cafe on the same site. We haven't stayed there ourselves but have eaten in the cafe. (A very nice breakfast😊) We are making plans to stay there next year.
