Brue - it's not the cheapest site at £25 a night but as a special holiday I'm willing to pay more. The views would be enough for me. On a sunny day or a wild wet windy day just sitting and gazing though the caravan front window would be ideal. We also went to Caster village to try the kippers and the famous Auchermuchty roll from Pipers Pitch.

Ah, yes, OH was thinking it might have been that one.  As you say, with the discount it is a good price, I think she said it would be £17.25 per night.

Just wondering if it might be a bit exposed being so close to the coast,  but of course we do not need to put up our canopy awning, probably going to be a bit too chilly for eating outside in October anyway!

ADD46....that looks like a nice site, but unfortunately £25 is well beyond our self imposed limit.  Might try the restaurant though.

Kj - please do try the restaurant, it was lovely food and nicely presented. Fully understand the price. It's more than we would normally pay.

Brue - I've just looked at The Joiners Arms. Like wise, noted for future reference. 😉

Last week we made a fairly late minute decision to go away this week for four days at the C&CC site at Cambridge (we were at the CMC site earlier in the year) I know the hot weather was forecast but nothing prepared for us for the heat and the nights were particularly uncomfortable. First day there we just about managed to walk to the lovely Garden Centre nearby and back, the next day nothing-just in a heap. Thinking we should really do something yesterday we caught the bus into Cambridge but it was so hot I ended up like sodden mess!!! We came home today and I have just been in the van and it is showing as 40 degrees as the internal temperature!!

Looks likely to cool down a bit tomorrow, which is a good thing as Margaret has a couple of appointments at Bedford Hospital, only problem is that it is one appointment each in the different parts of the hospital which are a couple of miles apart!!!

To be honest I'm glad we're not away in the van just now, especially in the hot areas, it's just too much heat!

We were supposed to be in Yorkshire by now which, in theory, should be cooler than here in the south but OH keeps saying "glad we aren't away in the van". I'm inclined to agree atm.

Being in Yorkshire cyberyacht, we can say yes it’s hot here too.  Not as hot as South but just near York it was 33 at lunchtime.  We’re glad we aren’t away at present.

It has been a tad warm here today, boss came into the office this afternoon and said his lorry temp gauge was saying 40°C .  It wasn't much cooler in the office surprised

OH has been moaning, it's been too hot to respray the MG, paint would dry to quickly apparently. He also has what he thinks might be an ear infection,  phoned the doctor and receptionist said they had an appointment in half an hour, Wow!

We  are having a weekend away in the van, forecast is for cooler weather, we were away in the van last year and had similar heat, not much fun especially for the dog, couldn't even get him to go for a swim, he doesn't like water. wink

It’s great being warm in the evenings as we have been able to sit outside until late but the last 2 or 3 nights have been quite uncomfortable even with the sky lights open in the van. We are moving on in a couple of days to a CL near Blackpool where we will be spending a couple of days to break our journey home. Thinking of taking the awning down tonight so we can relax a bit tomorrow.

Its been very hot all day here today as well. Officially 37 degrees but our daughter said her car recorded an outside temperature of 40 degrees this afternoon. We havent been outside much. OH had an appt for his B12 injection first thing and I have only been outside to fill up bird feeders and bird bath and to hang washing out and take it back in again. It was bone dry very quickly!! I think we might get another thunderstorm tonight.

Thunder rumbling in distance, looks like it could rain.  Martin and his crew busy, now harvesting barley, could be a long night for them.  Too hot to do much today but wander around the farm tracks.  Did see a barn owl which is alway a thrill.  Whatever your up to enjoy

Did you manage to get to The Three Tuns while you were in the New Forest, Francis? Would be interested to know if it's still as good as ever? smile

Sounds like a good CL Oneputt,  keep hearing about it on here and would like to go there one day. smile

I could hear the chug of the baler going round near here, the wheat by us isn't quite ready but soon will be with this weather. Grandson likes to try his hand at corn grinding, seems to keep him happily occupied when visiting in the summer. We actually had about three spots of rain late afternoon but that was it!

Been hot and humid here today not as bad as down south but 29/30c for our part of Scotland is exceptional.

Went into town this afternoon to collect my new glasses, they seem to be fine. smile

OH was at blood donor clinic.

Went to see big sis, they have collected their new car today so we had to have a nosey. Its bright orange with a black roof, trim and wheels surprised the colour is called MacLaren, you will certainly see them coming wink

More painting for me when I got back, that should be the majority of it done now. OH went to put in the new poly-carbonate windows, unfortunately one of them is damaged so a replacement is on its way and we should have it on Monday.

The new roofing arrived about 20 minutes ago surprised so provided its not raining tomorrow he can make a start on that.

Sun is still out but we have a few drops of rain, not sure if we will get a storm or not. Nice and cool in the house but muggy outside.

It's been hot up here too but no where as warm as some places and we did have the benefit of a breeze for some of the day. Drove down to Powfoot and had an hour and half walk on the sands. Well we walked and Flyte had a good run for some of the time, as well as a dip in a stream. Back to the van early though as it was getting even warmer, and it's not fair on him, or OH for that matter, being out in the full heat of the day. We did have a short thunderstorm this evening and it feels a good bit cooler now. Looking out at the sky I think that we'll get more rain before the night's though.

Storm has now passed over here.  We had thunder and lightening, heavy rain and exceptionally strong winds.  Ended up getting soaked taking down our sun canopy as concerned that we may end up with damaged awning rail.  All calm now and fresher.

Still warm here but rain and lightening forecast overnight so we took the awning down while it was dry. We still have a couple of nights left here but don’t want to have to take the awning out when we get home also it means we can relax a bit tomorrow without having to worry about the rain. Looking forward to our next stop near Blackpool where we will be for a couple of nights before heading home.

Well our thunderstorm was more of a damp squib, a couple of rumbles no flashes and about a teacup of rain frown  might get more overnight by all accounts.

Exceptionally warm and humid overnight,  but no storms. It does feel a bit fresher this morning though.

Doctor confirmed OH has an ear infection, so has an antibiotic spray, he is hoping it works quickly as his ear is very painful.  Hasn't stopped him going down to check  the progress with the MG this morning. His friend is going to complete the re spray this weekend hopefully.

Off to work now  then away for a couple of days in the van to the Forest of Dean.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. ☺

I woke up in the night and woke up OH to say it's raining...only it wasn't, I was dreaming so someone wasn't best pleased!

I read the forecast to OH today, at 6pm we have a 20% chance of light rain, (BBC local ) I think the forecasts are getting a bit exaggerated. laughing

Have a nice time Helen, hope your OH feels better soon, ear infections are very painful. I hope there are some cooling breezes for all today.
