What are you all up to

We did not even hear a rumble! Despite being promised heavy rain by 8pm yesterday, it has been bone dry, and very warm overnight.
We sleep downstairs in the coolest area of the house, living rooms are upstairs, and even there it was hot, had a small fan running all night.
Today started sunny but the clouds have now arrived, so not as hot as yesterday thankfully.
The heat and humidity is exhausting, we were in bed before 10 last night and not up till after 9 this morning.

We had no rain overnight at all but I have just been to see a friend who lives about 5 miles away and they had a terrific storm. However we have just had a storm with heavy rain this morning.
Enjoy The Forest of Dean Helen. We used to have some friends who lived therein a village called Bream (sadly no longer with us) and we loved going to stay with them. We had some happy holidays with the children down there with them. There is a really good steam railway but I can't remember the name of it off hand.

Thanks WN. I have just seen them. It looks wonderful.

Warm but not as bad as yesterday, grey skies just now but we have had sun.
OH and BIL have stripped off the old roofing and are in the process of fitting the new stuff.
I'm indoors staying out of the way just providing drinks when required.

Thunder bolts and lighting - very very frightening

He's just a poor boy.

Cats are very choosy DD, consider it an honourπ We had more issues with our cats and holidays than we ever do with dogs.
Wonder if it is micro chipped? Good on you for taking on the role of servant again though.

It sounds as though the cat knows a good home when he/she sees one DD π (have you bought any cat food yet? π)

Edit: double post.

Just had a final walk along the estuary and along the farm tracks. The harvesting is going on a pace despite last nights storms, 4 in total, terrific thunder and lightening plus high winds and torrential rain.
Went to the 1st WW aredrome at Stowe Maries this morning, fascinating experience.
back home tomorrow

Enjoyed a free coffee (NT stamp card) at Montacute House this morning and had a bit of fun looking at the "Tottington Hall" exhibition of Wallace and Gromit fame. The Curse of the Were Rabbit film. I didn't realise it but Tottington Hall in the film was based on Montacute, The model house was impressive.

A good film, very funny in places. I didnβt know Montacute was the inspiration either brue.
Said goodbye to our old Jeep Wrangler today. BIL drove away with a huge grin on his face. Big hole in the garage now, but the MG was out for a spin earlier in the week. And I can get to my lawn mower a lot easier! Wonβt be long before OH decides we need something else.......π€£

Moulesy. We are staying on a CL mid way between Coleford and Newland, about a 20 minute walk to both.
Its very quiet, apart from some noisy sheep in the fields .
I can recommend the Dog House a micro pub in Coleford, good selection of beers including Tribute. Trevor left his cap in there tonight, they have put it behind the bar. I 've decided it was done deliberately so we have to go back tomorrow!!!

More thunder and lightening just as I took Flyte out at 10:00 last night but no rain as it passed to the east of our site. Dull and grey this morning, but quite clammy. Parked at Hoddon Bridge and walked along the Annan Water. As we sat for lunch by the river we spotted a couple of Dippers and then under the trees on the far bank there was an Otter ducking and diving in a pool. We only saw it for a couple of minutes but it made our day. Spotted 3 more Dippers on the way back and also a couple of Herons. Got back to the van in time to watch all the interesting action in the TdF. What a race that's turned into.

Would you recommend the CL for a visit, Helen? If so are you willing to name the site? Hope you evjoy your time there.

Wallace and Gromit still makes me laugh. Saw "A Matter of Loaf and Death" recently. "Dough to Door Delivery".
Trouble is that laughing at the moment sends me into coughing spasms. Going back soon for more camera down the throat inspections. Always something to look forward to isn't there?

What an exhausting day. Visites to both Bedford Hospitals for different appointments. Road outside main hospital in the process of being dug up so had to get off the bus early, lucky the driver warned us! On the way home did our Waitrose shopping, but did buy a curry in a bag which was easy to prepare and serve!

Good Morning one and all. Yet another poor nights sleep. If I find the cat that woke me up at 4.30 after I only managed 3 hours sleep then I will not be responsible for my actions!
Have to make the place spick and span as today's the day the Chickens come home to roost. Cooler this morning and a light rain falling.
Take care whatever you do and enjoy it hopefully.

Looks like you have a new pal DD, we've had three cats arrive in a similar manner over the years, local enquiries nil results and no microchips. They were all lovely but needed a lot of de-fleaing etc! Are you feeling itchy yet?

Up early in this house for dog walking. πΆπΆ Feeling very righteous to be out early enjoying the village before they all woke. Then ππ«π one of the dogs found some nice slimy green fox? poo and rolled in it. π« Home, showered and dried and now smelling a lot sweeter. ππ They go home today and life can return to normal. π We will miss them though.

[Deleted User User] glad you've got a new house mate, a clever one at that! I do agree with takethedogalong you do need to make arrangements when you're away - unless this one will join you?
DavidKlyne hospital visits are exhausting without added complications! Hope all was well.
Wherenext I hope you've made the house ready for your ladies and that they've had a nice time. Sorry to hear about laughing making you cough - good luck with the camera!
HelenandTrevor enjoy your weekend. Hope the ear infection has improved, earache is very painful. Our family, including my mum and now our granddaughters suffer but I've never heard of an antibiotic spray - even the Kiwi's who can do things differently! Do let me know how it works.
Humid day here yesterday, had an appointment, for me as me time, that took up most of the morning plus - huge traffic queue due to an accident, no alternative route so that accounted for some of the time! Bit of an no no afternoon with just a stroll to the park with OH onceit was cooler.
Raining here, decent rain at that π, only 17 but feels warmer. Don't feel quite right this morning so will just potter as the fancy takes me! Did strip the bed, cool enough to do so this morning, after all the recent hot and sticky nights
not sure when I can dry it - sure it won't rain all day.
Sorry if I've not acknowledged your post, it's my memory
but whatever you do folks enjoy your day.

What a difference a day makes. 18C with overcast and rain.
Watched the sheet lightling from above Cromer pier last night. Very impressive.
Breakfast over, now time to hit the chip shop.
Lots of people leaving but full again tonight.

Wet, grey and miserable when we got up this morning so decided to do the food shopping then visit Mum.
First a visit to B&Q to get a few bits and bobs then supermarket for food. Mum was in good form today, dozing when we arrived (with a half cup of tea in hand) she was being cheeky having fun
its great to see her when she like this.
Back home, spot of lunch then I will get back on with the sewing job I'm in the middle of. OH still to do stuff outdoors now its stopped raining.
Still trying to adjust to the new specs, there is not a lot of difference in the prescription so don't now why they feel so weird, will give it another few days if it doesn't get any better then back to the opticians.
Have a good weekend what ever you are up to.

It's our 45th Wedding anniversary today - and never a cross word in all that time. (Well, OK, just a few, well actually quite a few - but we soldier on!
)
Just having a quiet celebration - walked along the coastal path at Holywell Bay this morning, cream tea coming up (jam on first obviously, no cross words about that! ) and out for dinner tonight.
Saving the special celebrations for September when we've got 3 nights in Lisbon followed by a 7 night river cruise on the Douro - as long as one of use doesn't kill the other before then!

Congratulations πΎπΉ on your wedding anniversary moulesy. Enjoy your day.
Friend who moved back to Northumberland been to visit for a couple of hours, off to celebrate her wedding anniversary, yesterday, just 22 years. She's had a year a bit like mine, we've been friends for 40 years! So apart from our son's wedding, when we got to say hello, first time this year we've been face to face. Her hubby still works down here but is rumoured to be semi retiring later this year, I'll believe that when I see it π.

We left the New Forest Centenary club site at 9 this morning after an excellent 2 week stay what a lovely area one we plan to visit again. Now pitched up on a little CL near Blackpool drive up here was ok traffic wise but the weather was horrendous pouring all the way up difficult driving conditions especially when towing. Got set up in the rain at the CL this is the first time we have used this one and so far so good very nice pitch next to a lovely little cottage. Pitch is on a bit of a slope but we have levelled the van as best we can. Here for a couple of nights will take a drive in to Blackpool later for a drive along the seafront then probably pick up fish and chips to bring back to the van. Just a relaxing day planned tomorrow after todayβs long drive.
Congratulations M on your wedding anniversary.
