Sorry NTH, didn't mean the weather you had I was referring to the weather 'here' as in just north of Perth. According to everyone we speak to it did nothing but rain, the garden certainly enjoyed it laughing

We once did a 2 week trip around the north of Scotland never had any rain but on phoning home my parents kept telling us its 'raining again' laughing its a strange land we live in laughing

Aberdeenshire is usually quite dry, (compared to us) did you upset it laughinglaughing

Lovely day yesterday at Wildlife Park. Many of animals, such as Lions, Brown Bears have been taken on from the most appalling conditions elsewhere in the World, and it’s a joy seeing them getting the care and huge living spaces they deserve. Polar Bear enclosures are cover acres, all landscaped to suit, with three big swimming ponds. They came across and sat listening to a talk with us yesterday😁

Weather no better today than yesterday frown dull and raining now, though I did manage to get out for a few hours this morning in the garden.

OH took the tow car in for 4 new tyres this morning, not really needed just yet but got a good price and know they would have had to be done before going away in the Autumn.

Waiting in now for the wood delivery, they are going to get wet unloading.

TTDA, sounds like you had a good day out smile

    Hope things improve soon Husky.

Not done much here, home for a while and catching up with jobs etc. On the way back from a B&Q expedition we called in at NT Montacute for a coffee and quick wander. Took a photo of the orangery where the quirky Tufa fountain had been restored. The gardens always remind me of France with their plain lawns and wide gravel pathways, very easy to stroll around for a little break from other things. smile

Heard today the niggles we had with the new caravan are now sorted, aside from a couple of warranty claims that are no big issue. We’ll pick it up on Tuesday and go from there to a site, as long as the forecast is ok. If there’s a pitch available, we’ll most likely give that new CL (Cherry Cottage) a go for a few days 🙂

We love Montacute as well brue. We are doing a stop off on our way to Dartmoor in August, can’t decide between Lytes Cary or Barrington Hall at the moment.....🤔

Hope your Mum picks up HD, always a worry. Good luck with the shop as well.

YWP is a nice day out TG, well worth a visit for anyone in area. OH got me an annual pass, and Mum and Sis have one too, so we intend visiting regular. I did try and post a photo earlier, but website wasn’t having it....grrr!🤨

We arrived home yesterday from our lovely sunny stay in Norfolk. It was a hot day for packing up. We were a bit concerned about getting off our pitch, it was a sloping pitch in a difficult position and we were worried that the caravan would run away from us when we took the brake off to move the van with the mover as we wanted to move it at right angles to get it off the pitch. Two lots of very friendly and helpful neighbours immediately came over and held on to the van at the back to stop it running away down the slope and all was well. We were very grateful to them. The van and the car were emptied and two lots of washing done yesterday afternoon.

I hope your Mum improves soon husky - always a worry, especially in this hot weather.  All the best for the sale of your shop.  Fingers crossed for you.

I am glad your new car is a success tda and also that you had a good day out yesterday.

When we used to do our long trips to France we always used Camping Cheques or ACSI and paid about 13 euros a night apart from the time we took our grand-daughter in August one year surprised She was 10 years old and had a whale of a time so well worth it laughing We don't do long trips these days and are of an age (OH celebrated his 82nd birthday while we were away) and stage in life when we like to go to places in the UK that we like and suit us so perhaps pay a little more but then we don't do as many trips these days. It's 'horses for courses' as far as we are concerned. As long as we can keep caravanning we will do it in a way that suits us.

I hope Bakers2 and her OH are OK.  We haven't heard from her for a while.

My mistake TG. Aberdeen was a bit rainy at times but we did get a cracker for the walk up Bennachie, which was one of our aims for being in that area. We missed most of any storms that came through, thankfully. You must have just got home before the very high temperatures in France.

Millie, she posted on thread in the CL section so is obviously still about, but perhaps OH is not too well again and she's been occupied with him. Hopefully all is well. It sounds as if you had a good time in Norfolk, I bet there's a bit to do in the garden now before your visitors come.

Hope your mum improves soon, HD and you can then get away. Fingers crossed for the sale to go through too.

Shame about your weather TG. We've had a fine day here, with intermittent sun and cloud, but no rain. I managed to get a lot of the outside of the caravan cleaned, but there are hundreds of tiny black spots on the roof which wouldn't wash off, so I'll have to get up trough the roof light and remove them individually with some Black Streak remover and then clean the area again before I'll be satisfied that the job's done. I've plenty of time to do that and clean the inside of the van as we don't have the service engineer coming until the 18th. If all's well then we hope to get away early the following week for our next trip.

I'm still reading but haven't anything interesting to post 😂😂😂. Thanks for your concern, most welcome.

We're doing OK thanks OH doing well but more trouble with tablets - statins this time. Prescribed an 80mg dose 😲😲 went to he doctors after 6 days as energyless and tummy upset meant he wasn't interested in doing anything. Bloods and stool test again 😉 stop taking statins and see. Immediate improvement.  Low hemoglobin levels,  obviously not helping with energy levels so blood test for b12 levels. Statin reduced to 20mg restarted yesterday - awaiting outcome! He's certainly enjoying the wonderful weather and as GP said yesterday she'll test vitamin D but it appears he has had plenty of natural dosage!!

My eye is brilliant after the cataract op - was hard to remember not to bend forward to begin with - 2 weeks since the op and the effects were immediate on day 2.

I'm certainly feeling more myself, luckily my energy levels are returning and I've had a couple of 'Tammygirl' days 😂😂😂. Today a load or 2 of washing, GP visit, appointment arranging, cut the grass, out to the solicitor to sign wills and lasting powers of attorney, drive to Westcliff on Sea, well Thames for accuracy, to collect new nets, tide in 😃, cuppa watching the water activities, a stroll and Rossi ice cream before walking back to the car. Cooked dinner and have just finished cleaning all the front windows and hung the new nets 😂😂. I'm too hot too finish the back windows - there's more of those and a conservatory so I'll leave for another day.

Enjoying reading others news sorry for not commenting on all the news but folks generally seem to be having decent days out, trips and home activities.

Husky hope your mum is OK and my fingers are crossed for your shop sale.

Repairs to motorhome not as costly as we feared, being sorted early August so maybe a very slight chance well get in something local. We certainly miss it but I'm a tad nervous about driving it on too busy or too small roads 😲😲 and here aren't many sites close to storage. Step by step and don't pile the pressure on myself - easier side than done!

Great to hear from you Bakers, you sound very busy. Hope OH's meds are sorted now, its such a balance isn't it, try this, stop that. Glad to hear also that your eye Op was a success.

We still haven't seen Mum yet since returning 12 days ago as the care home has been closed due to a D&V outbreak. Got an email today to say that it will re-open tomorrow smile the staff will be relieved it must have been more work for them.

NTH, I think we got back from France just at the right time the heatwave hit them 2 days after our return, we brought the good weather back with us but its now deserted us again frown can't really moan about it as we have managed to get out every day at some stage to do things.

The caravan has had a good wash but we need to do a polish and although we don't have black streaks to remove, we do have some streaks where the water/rain has run down from joints in the awning rail. We are hoping they will come off with a bit of elbow grease laughing I tried 'Silky' but it didn't remove them, I tried a 'Magic' sponge that didn't work either,(great for dead flies and tar though)  so maybe a good polish will work undecided

We bought a new TV for the van  on the way home from Hull. We stopped at the 'Cello' factory for them to have a look at our 5 year old set,  it developed a problem when away. They kindly checked it out while we waited and all is well with it but OH decided we would buy a new one anyway. It is the next size up and has newer technology, having tried it out it is much better TV.

OH's first job tomorrow is to try and fix the garage door, he can't get it open. The lock unlocks but when you twist the handle to open it it springs back, something must be caught frown Mr google and Mr U tube are helping him solve it laughinglaughing

I'm off to bed now forecast is a dry day tomorrow so I might, just might, sort out behind the shed its like a jungle.

Husky, hope your Mum improves, its such a worry when they are not well.

Brue you've got lovely blue skies. It's grey and raining here. 😕 All thoughts of tackling the back garden have been put on hold. I tried to dig out a failing fatsia in the week, but it got the better of me and still won't budge. I think I'll pop to our local garden centre for inspiration and stop off in the cafe until the rain stops.

    Enjoy your day everybody.

I bet there's a bit to do in the garden now before your visitors come. You can say that again Nellie.  It looks like a jungle!  It is worse than when we used to go on our long trips to France.  I think it is a combination of not being able to do much in the garden before we went away because of the weather, the torrential rain during June and then the hot sunny weather. We are hoping to get a local 'man who can' to come and give us a hand.

Lovely to hear from you Bakers2 and pleased that you are getting your energy levels back.  Your day out yesterday sounded lovely. Sorry to hear that your OH is having trouble with his meds.  I had the same trouble with statins.  They made me feel ghastly - same side effects as your OH's so GP has taken me off them.  I hope they get the dosage right for your OH soon.  Fingers crossed that you manage a trip away in your MH before too long.

Great photo of the hot air balloon brue - it is perfect weather for it. I loved your photos of Montacute as well. I love a nice orangery.

Thanks Millie, just catching up with the previous posts, good to hear from B2 and hope the statins get sorted.

TDA if you decide to see Barrington or Lytes Cary I think Lytes C is easier if you have a dog especially if you want to visit the café. Montacute has even better access, all the gardens etc. Hope you enjoy your trip to Dartmoor, we're off in August too.

Thanks brue. We have done all three previously, and enjoyed the estate walks as well. OH loves LC, he’s been more than I have, but I fancy a return to BC, as it’s a long time since we visited, definitely before Wolf Hall was filmed there. It’s the gardens I particularly want to see again.

I had something similar but the spots on the roof were orange and a devil to get off. Took me twice as long as normal. Hope you managed to get them cleared. Whilst washing the roof we had a visit from the Apple Street Mapping car so you may see a man up a ladder cleaning his caravan roof. That'll be me.laughing

Drizzly day here today, for which the garden was very thankful.

Catching up with all of the admin that we've ignored since we got back. Books to balance, "investments" to move (laughable term bearing in mind the Scrooge like rates around), phone contracts etc. to sort out. I hate doing that lot, always end up in a bad mood.

Hope HD has better luck with his potential buyer this time.

Rather apt choice of words, TG.laughing

We fixed ana awning protector ribbon which forces the water a bit away from the van thus preventing some of the worst of the black streaks. Pick them up at your local dealer. Might help in future. Remember to get one for each side. We've always found AutoGlym Black Streak Remover to be good.

Lovely sunny day here today. I was up early this morning and went for a haircut )didn’t take long) kiss planning on spending the rest of the day getting the caravan packed ready for our main holiday next week to the New Forest here’s hoping for some nice weather while we are down there. Thinking of having a BBQ tonight.

Glad you had a good trip away Millie, glad to hear things are still going ok for B2 and TG we have bother with black streaks on the van but if I clean them as soon as I notice them then they usually come off without too much effort. Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Last day here in mid Wales, after 3 days of sightseeing we are having a day off, and of course packing up.

Pretty dull with low cloud, rain possibly this evening, so we have taken down the awning and packed the car.  Not going very far tomorrow as  our next site, a CL, is just a few miles west of Haverfordwest.

We have indeed, we have had no rain at all since we came to Wales, and only a couple of showers at our previous sites.

However, it has just started raining a little about 30 minutes back,  so just as well we took the awning down.

It is a little cooler, but still very pleasant.

Hoping for  dry weather tomorrow when we hitch up.
