Now at Slapestones Villa, Penrith after a short and easy run across Cumbria. Site is full, one of the few that have been so this trip.
A much cooler day with dark clouds at times and a few short rain showers this afternoon.

Glad that you had a pleasant time at the Clachan site TG. We do like it up there as it's generally quiet when we're there.

Pleased to hear that you had safe trip home WN, and the MIL is well and has been able to look after your garden.

Shame about the heavy rain Francis, but it does seem that you had a good day all the same.

Sounds as if you're having a good trip, AD, apart of course OH's accident.

The cycle event in Norfolk went through Cromer yesterday and along the road past the caravan site yesterday morrning so of course we went to have a look. I have never seen so many police motorcycle outriders in all my life!! Every police motorcyclist in Norfolk must have been involved. The main pack of cyclists then went past. It was very exciting. I had never realised what a noise all those bikes make en masse. This was followed by the support teams with the spare bikes. What a huge organisation. I forgot to take my phone so no photos 😩

Usually a great atmosphere Millie, we love following bike races. I think quite a few police forces provide the motorcycle outriders. Best I have ever seen were the Gendarme who came across when the Tour came to Yorkshire in 2014. Huge crowd round them at the finish.

If you get the bug, the UCI World Championships are taking place in Yorkshire this September. Big names taking part. We are booked into Lower Wensleydale as a base.

Tda we were travelling back to Calais in our then motorhome when rhe Tour de France was in the area some years ago. We kept being waved through the road closures and couldnt work out why. We then came to the conclusion that they thought we were part of the support team 😂

Great story Millie. laughing   We saw the Tour debut France in 2016 on the run up to the Mt Ventoux section.  We waited around for hours for about 10 seconds of the race.  The accompanying 'caravan' procession was interesting!  I'm sure some were there just to see how much 'that's they could collect.  They spaced family members at distances to try and maximize the 'tat' collecting.  It was quite funny to watch.  An experience.......

We are not long home from a lovely long weekend at Moffat for the Classic car weekend. As usual it was excellent and it was nice to meet up with some friends we meet up with every year. Weather was good on Friday and Saturday and a bit mixed yesterday. Had to take it easy coming home today it was very windy. Van all cleaned and back in it’s space on the drive. Not away next weekend but only 10 days until we are off down to the New Forest for 2 and a half weeks. Looking forward to that as it’s an area we have never really visited properly.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy the new forest. I sent some time there last year and had a great time. Just remember the ponies have right of way.

Its been very windy here today to Francis, don't think I would have liked towing in it.Glad you had a good weekend.

Tow car went in today for its first MOT and service, passed with flying colours smile although we will need to replace the tyres before we set off again in September. Caravan service due in 3 weeks time.

Been busy today, good clean of the bedrooms and bathroom, 2 loads of washing done and dry. Then finished off the back garden and cut the grass again. Cleaned the windows and patio doors at the rear of the house, gave the frames a really good clean to get off the winter grime. Next I decided to give the deck at the rear of the house a good clean and wash down then wash down the patio furniture. Weeded the gravel at the side of the house (not quite finished yet) then came in and cooked tea. smile  OH didn't escape the work either he's been busy in the caravan doing modification's. wink

The cycle tracks in the forest are excellent Francis, hope you enjoy your visit. If you go to Beaulieu village itself you won't be far from Buckler's Hard an old timber ship building area, worth a visit. smile

    TG you sound very industrious!

I have done nothing except look after our son's whippet, everything has gone to pot! Hoping our son will have packed up his Glastonbury tent and return to the fold tonight otherwise the dog won't want to return home, he's had a great time here, demolishing the garden has been fun! wink

I bet you have enjoyed having the whippet pup brue and will miss him when your son picks him up. I hope your son survived Glastonbury OK. I expect he will be glad of a hot shower and a good nights sleep at yours before he sets off home. Glad to hear that your cat has the upper paw with the whippet. 👍.

Gosh Tammygirl. It would take me a week to get done everything you have achieved today!!

Glad that you got home safely, despite the high winds, Francis. Just a word of warning....there are certain areas of the Forest that are visited by "cruising" males.....not the most pleasant of individuals to come across going about their "private" activities.

Funny sort of day weather wise, more like April than 1st July, with a cool breeze and intermittent showers, however it did brighten and warm up late in the day. After calling into to Penrith to restock with food and propane, before heading home, we paid a visit to Acorn Bank N/T house and estate.

Francis, if you head down to Keyhaven, you can get a boat trip out to Hurst Castle (English Heritage) or, if energetic walk there along the shingle spit. About 1.5 miles.

Hurst. A café in the castle too, much needed as the walk is quite bracing in windy weather! I've been visiting the NF since I was a tiny tot, I feel slightly awkward now saying it was my Dad's favourite place wink but his grandparents lived in nearby Christchurch, another nice place to visit.

Day out for me today, hoping to take Mum and Sis out in new Jeep. Can’t decide, Castleton, Renishaw........

Dog and his Dad having a day in. 😁

This reminded me of the time we went looking for Nightjars late into the evening in a wood near Exeter Racecourse and came across quite a few interesting types.

Carrying binoculars may have given them the wrong impression.surprised We didn't stop to discuss matters though.smile

Now, what am I up to --

Took Aged Sister shopping in the village { Crewe } Displayed my shortness of temper with a lady { ?undecided? } on a mobility scooter. Stopped at traffic lights when the twerp passed me on the OFF SIDE then darted sharp left up a dropped kerb as a council refuse vehicle  turned in from my right !! A couple of seconds sooner and they would have had a half load to clear yell.

    Now I'm sitting here with T M S on, enjoying the sun & looking forward to the England Women playing in the Football W W C  { Give 'Em Hell, Girls - they're only Yanks  ! OOPs sorry Suburban  nothing personal of course embarassed }

Suddenly the world seems  so  much  brighter  when the only trace of a cold is a very occasional cough but with no soreness --  must be due to all your good wishes I reckon  so thank you all smile

Enjoy your gardens, your hikes, your shopping, your planning and even your loading of 'vans  etc   - just think of the fun to come  !!wink
