I use my smart phone a lot David, I don't have an expensive one but my last one didn't have enough memory so I updated. I was looking at the photos I posted on here, they are not top quality from the phone and I thought the manor house looked a bit "grainy" till I remembered it's built from chunks of old red sandstone which look grainy from a distance.
Helen, hope you're enjoying your stay on the site near Ilfracombe, we used it a few years back, we like the tea rooms at Mortehoe and the places you've visited. Like Millie I'm a fan of the area and the site is away from the busy spots. Great weather over here just now, another sunny day looms, very warm!

I use my smartphone a lot as well. I updated a couple of months ago for the same reasons - more memory. I am quite pleased with the quality of the photos. Especially as the operator is not a very good photographer!!

Some years ago I even persuaded Margaret to have a Smart Phone despite the fact she wanted to hang onto her much prized Nokia! She is now on her second Smart Phone and when we are at home she uses it more than me! I do take photographs on my Smart Phone but struggle a bit with the format much preferring my camera. Having said that it is handy to have the camera on the phone for that impromptu picture. Or even as I once used it for, I took a picture of the kitchen sink plumbing and set of to B&Q in search of the parts in the photo!!!

I very rarely use my proper camera now, as my phone seems to take photos that are just as good (maybe itβs the photographer!). And I donβt want to cart too much stuff around.
I have the full size range of tech stuff - large hi-spec desktop (always on), laptop in a different room but on the same network (A hot spare in case the PC has a problem), IPad to use when sat in a comfy seat and to take away on holiday, IPhone (for phone calls! And everything else it does), and since my last Birthday a smart watch (no real reason - just because I can!).
Maybe itβs because I used to work in IT.

Goldie OH is ex IT got all gadgets who can think of and uses his phone for photos, me a bit more old fashioned do not like the phone prefer a camera and I have just bought a new camera only a small canon bridge camera my old one is about 12/13 years old and the new one was on special offer.
Had a good downpour last night and the garden needed it also cooler first thing today but sun now back out and getting warmer, just sorting out a raised bed ready to be sorted with a spray of nematodes to kill off the cockchafer grubs they really do a lot of damage over here and as we did 1 lot a bit late last year so a lot earlier this time, we have a friend who was clearing out some huge plastic pots about 1and half metres tall and said he had thousands of the grubs.
Good photos brue and not a place we went too but looks interesting.

Sim only Samsung fone (don't ask which one 'cos I don't know
) used for calls and texts when I'm out, also for weather & date ( for those best before / use by thingies ) Otherwise its my cordless Land Line.
Camera is still my Canon EOS 50 & back-up EOS 30 weighty yes but it stops a sylph-like {
} ABM from being blown away.
Just been for a swift trot round Morrisons s/market for a jar of tasty piccalilli and only spent Β£42 so win win there
. Followed up by collecting medications from f-f-pharmacy so that's good till I get back from Cornwall in early August.
After lunch it'll be a swift hedge / bush trim or I'll be blocked in again -- must get some lightweight waterproofs {- might even be some going spare at Ferry Water Meadows next week that's if it's dried out yet

I prefer my camera too Redkite, my little Canon is great except I've been having problems with the battery and recharging it ( we've tried new batteries and a new charger unit still can't solve the problem.) Due to arthritis in my wrist I've got a slight hand tremor which tends to show up more with a phone photo due to the lighter weight of the phone, I'm better with a sturdier camera in my hand.
(My phone's an android Blackview, OH has the waterproof version just in case he drops it when fishing!
)
We are desperate for some rain here, I can see leaves on the trees wilting and falling off, the birch trees are really suffering. It's lovely to have this warm weather but not so good in the long run.
It's Yeovilton air day at the weekend, beware of traffic jams on the A303. We're getting some practice views overhead, quite noisy!

I don't have a smart phone, just an old thing that I can make a call if needed. OH has a Smart though which he is always on, It is very useful when away as he has various apps on it. The family have tried for years to get me to have and use a mobile phone but I just don't want one. OH has a contract for his and changes phone every couple of years so always offers me his last one, maybe one day I will accept
Much nicer day today, warmer and dry, the garden is happier for the rain yesterday even if we weren't.
OH been out this morning with car and trailer to buy more wood to make the side panels to the decking area. The deck is built against the utility room and sits back a bit behind the house. Down the side of the house it gets very windy at times so he is building an end panel to the deck to give us some protection.
I'm not feeling to bright today, got a thumping headache and an upset stomach, so taking it easy and drinking lots of water.
didn't get round to the ironing yesterday so might tackle it this afternoon if I feel better.

I have been a keen photographer since I first had a Box Brownie as a young lad!!! Enthusiasm for the hobby has ebbed and flowed over the years. I do have a Canon 500D DSLR with a selection of len's but since we got the new motorhome I have not taken it away with us as its all a bit bulky and we don't have the storage. However I always take my trusty Canon G16 with me which can just slip into my pocket. Quality wise the difference would only tell if photos were being published in magazines and I would even question whether there is much difference?

My husband used to have a rugged but basic phone was was happy when I gave my cast offs to grandchildren. But they want better ones now so last year he got my old one and likes having something that he can use as a camera while working round the farm. And it's more intuitive to use than his old one. He's better at reading than texting (i.e.Twitter and texts etc), but as it's linked to mine, I can see where he is. Or where his phone is. Good thing? Or not?

Love my smart phone Samsung S5 Neo, fits in a pocket easily newer ones much bigger! On a SIM only contract Β£8 a month with 10gb's more than I manage to use even when away! I reckon it takes reasonable photos, I'm a snapper not a photographer π. Haven't used my digital pocket size Panasonic for ages - just something else to carry! I've virtually given up handbags and only use a backpack if weather is iffy or going some distance requiring liquid and sustenance! Battery runs down quickly as using 13 ish of 16 GB despite photos going onto SD card. Theres lots that could be Deleted User if I really knew what I was doing ππ. Several files/images say something along the line of 'unable to open as no supporting software'. I do miss a young brain in the house, although when I do get a chance to ask a question of our youngest brain it's not as useful/knowledgeable as it once was ππ or cant be bothered!
OH has my cast off smart phone and finds it difficult. The tracking of it would be good but it's never in his pocket so tracking him down with it wouldn't work, he'd always be on a worktop or bedside cabinet!

Took me ages to convince OH to get a Smart phone, but he loves it now, uses far more Apps than I do. I loved the old Blackberry, we had those for ages, but love the iPhone. OH hasnβt grasped the concept of mobile though, rarely if I phone him does he have it on him.
When I got my latest phone, I was pondering (as you doπ) how best to transfer essential data. It took 10 seconds, I just lined up something on phone with something on my IPad and.....whee....ping! There it was! Our Jeep has brilliant hands free and Bluetooth connectivity as well, so if we hit a couple of buttons in there, we get music, calls, photos. Makes life safer and easier.

Husky dog, thoughts are with you and your mum.
Moulsey similar you and for your brother.
ABM made me smile but I know the feeling well.
Takethedogalong transferring date from one phone to another is seriously scary if someone else wants your info, I'm sure they wouldn't be interested in my humdrum life π but awesome in another way. Yes bluetooth connectivity with the car is great but it worries me that it still distracts a driver.
As an aside we now have a 20mph speed limit on our residential roads ππππ. What a joke they didn't stick to 30 - several folks do wonderful impressions and gestures from the pavement! I would never been seen dead joining in π The day before yesterday we 'alledgely' had one car clip another car and ended up on its roof π±π±π± early evening, thankfully no injuries and no pedestrians, cyclists or cats in the way. Made a mess of a metal pole and front garden wall. Yesterday I noticed we have long skid marks on the road a few doors up from us!

Sorry to hear about your Mum HD, and your brother M. We are hoping to visit a very dear friend of ours in next few days who is very poorly, thankfully on the mend.
We were overtaken by an idiot weaving through traffic on a dual carriageway a few days ago. He was so engrossed trying to convince everyone else of his prowess, that he failed to notice the camera car a bit further up the road. With a deep sense of satisfaction I can confirm they went howling after him and pulled him over further down the road. No doubt to the high glee of everyone elseπ€£π€£

We are now on day 5 of our Devon holiday and it has been another sunny day. Mind you this morning I had what is delicately called an upset tummy.
So we didn't venture out until this afternoon. We re visited Arlington Court and had a gentle stroll round the grounds. We may go back tomorrow to take a look round the carriage museum again.

Well after a quiet morning doing nothing much I felt better this afternoon. Still not 100% but much better.
Managed to make a protective cover for the caravan TV, then OH asked if I could do a bit of painting of the new wood so he could get on with the next faze. So the ironing still hasn't been done.
Husky, sorry to hear your Mum's in hospital, I know how worrying that is, hope she feels better soon.
HelenandTrevor, glad you felt better this afternoon to.
Moulsey, hope your brother is better soon.
