Glad to hear that the vets visit went well.  Fingers crossed that the medication will be helpful.  Looking forward to hearing good news after the effects of the meds.

Easy run down to Abbeytown. Good views off the site across the the Lakeland Fells, which have been covered in clouds all day, and although a tad breezy we've had no rain today, but did have a little overnight.

Sorry to hear that other's have not been as lucky, weatherwise.

Glad that the specialist seems to have been able to sort out a course of medication for pooch, tda.

I'm jealous of all those that have been having fresh strawberries/raspberries, we must see if we can't get some tomorrow in Wigton.

Sounds as if you thoroughly enjoyed your stay at Kissingland, OP, and that you've space capacity in the caravan. When are you next away?

Hope that the dental work is completed for the time being, brue. We've appointments due again when we get home.

Glad you had a good run Nell.  How long do you think you will be at home for and have you any idea where you'll go next?  Weather here has been lovely today with an upper temperature of 22C.  Won't get away no until mid July when we are off to Burnham Wick for a week.

Busy day today, emptying the van, doing washing, shopping, then after lunch I made a start on the 'meadow'. Well at least I now know the feed and weed I treated it with, before going away works laughing I've never seen the grass so long and lush. Only topped it this afternoon as too long and wet to cut properly. Tomorrow is promised to be hot and dry, if so I will give it another cut in the pm while OH is at the dentist.

NTH, you did well to get clear of Edinburgh, they had 33mm of rain in less than an hour yesterday afternoon. Saw it on the Scottish news, Stirling was bad to for awhile.

TTDA, hope the meds help the dog.

Still have a mountain of washing to do, mail to respond to and a not so nice email to send to our bank.

Half way through our holiday they decided to cancel our credit card and issue us with new ones. We only found out when OH couldn't pay for fuel yell good job we always have cash on us. It seems 'they' thought it had been wrongly used. They said "we sent you a letter explaining" great OH said not a lot of use as we are still in France. Thankfully we have more than 1 CC, OH not happy though as we had informed them before hand and they didn't bother to email or contact us first to check.  Toll tag now not paid as DD was from the CC.

What's your first impression of the new van? Better layout? Finished better?

Just having a quick coffee before setting out for a days walking. Hopefully a dry one.😉

    Enjoy your day folks.

Layout is virtually the same although it’s nearly half a meter longer.  The quality is definitely better, it seem more comfortable and it looks solidly built.  The Lunars all up weight was 1350 kilos, the Coachman is 1545 kilos.  Obviously time will tell.  Have a couple of little things to sort out before we go on our 5 week summer break.

Dry but dull and breezy here today.  Can do very much but some admin stuff as have a sore back

By 'eck ,  you lot appear to be enjoying yourselves surprised, What with new 'vans and cars I hope the beds / seats will allow relief for sore backs and distressed Cards etc smile.

I've been trying to re-locate an adjustment screw on my front doors lowest hinge. Allen  keys, ratchet drivers etc  all to no avail, when my desk jockey of a young nephew arrived.  'here, Uncle try this' he says and  Bang bang !! two gentleish cracks with a one pound cross pein hammer and BINGO !! The job's a goodun as they say. Feel  quite embarassed now so I'll sit down & watch the birds attacking the refilled feeders.embarassed.

TTDA can we come & watch you getting the new car onto the drive please, should be quite soothing to see  wink

Getting it on might not be that difficult. Getting out of it however, could pose an issue. However it does have removal roof panels, and I might just be agile enough🤞😂 You still can’t beat a whack with a hammer of some sort to fix the odd car issue. We kept a lump hammer in our early LRs, they always responded well to a thumping.

Like you AB, it’s a delight watching all the little bird families on the feeders. We have some regular Blue Tit, Coal Tit and Greenfinch youngsters amongst the Sparrows and Starlings. I love their big wide beaks and fluffy bits.

Hope you don't get stuck TDA...surprised

Whilst OH kept an eye on our young whippet visitor (who has already decided a cork coaster is as good as a digestive biscuit and looks much the same.)  I went to the hairdresser just in time to see her grown up son pushing a fully laden wheel barrow out to a waiting car on his way to Glastonbury. Then the girl who did my hair said she was going to Glastonbury too, but was sharing a campervan and all the worldly goods like usb chargers and suncream had gone on ahead. Our son will now be suitably attired in a high viz jacket awaiting the arrival of thousands more on site. I'm sort of glad I'm at home and have just one whippet to look after! winklaughing

There was an interesting article on BBC website a couple of days ago about Glastonbury Festival. Organisers are hoping to make it more eco friendly. I think single use plastic bottles are banned, and it gave advice on not using wet wipes for washing, and not dumping tents after a single use. I don’t even know who bands etc are this year......

What a smashing day. Over the top to Malham, walk to Gordale Scar then to the tarn via Broad Scars and back via the Cove for a well earned TT in the Buck Inn.7 miles of delight. Sun made an unexpected appearance in the late morning and has remained for rest of day.

Good luck TG with dealings with your bank. Was it the same one you had trouble joining last year?

Now at CCC Kendal site, which is a very nice site, and quite busy. Good journey and good weather, traffic not too heavy.

The  weather was not as bad as predicted, quite windy off and on, but only rain one night, Monday turned out quite nice in the end so we explored the beaches near the site.

The site at Garlieston seems well used, especially by MHs, I think it is well suited to MHs as they will visit as part of a tour, then move on.  Most seemed to  stay only a couple of nights.

Garlieston is interesting, but a bit out of the way for exploring the area by car in the "usual caravan fashion" as it is quite far off a main road, so we would stay somewhere more central next time we come this way

We have 3 nights here in Kendal before heading to visit our friends in North Wales

No WN, its the bank (building society) we have been with for over 30 years. Never did join the other bank in the end, there is a limit to my patience and they exceeded itwink

Glad to hear you and Mrs WN are having a good trip, will you make it to Europe in the autumn?

Been a lovely sunny day here today, been in the garden ALL day. If I manage to get out of bed tomorrow I will do it all over again laughing

OH washed and hoovered his car, took him hours due to the amount of people (mostly women)  who stopped to chat laughing this afternoon he cut the hedge in the front garden, didn't take too long as no passing women laughinglaughing

Oh, TTDA, I would not have minded over much had the recalcitrent hinge been on my motor surprised but it was the one on the front door Chez ABM yell. Still all's well  that ends up where it's supposed to be.

I'm taking extra care to feed the tweets now 'cos as I said t'other day I took revenge on the world for giving me a cold, by hacking a dodgy bush into shape. I found the  problem -- a 4 x 4 holding up a hidden trellis had rotted at soil level ( Don't blame ME, I didn't know there was one in there honest embarassed ) So I put supports in and added three well made 'Small Bird Roosts / Nests'  so when the shrub sprouts,  as I hope it will, they will have a ready made rustic village all set to go this autumn and winter innocent.

TammyG,  no passing women to take my mind off the grafting, muttering, chunnering etc still it let me get on with needful duties smile

Took the MH down to Ringwood today to get the gas burner on the water heater fixed. All the outstanding minor niggles that materialised during the Germany trip are now resolved. The only concern is the apparent persistence of a high damp reading that was identified at service prior too our trip underneath the aforesaid water heater although it would not itself appear to be the cause. I'm wondering if it is wheelspray from underneath although nothing seems amiss there.

Thanks, OP. We've not yet decided when and where we'll be going next. We will probably have as long as a couple of weeks at home before setting off again. It may well be Herefordshire and the Marches. as it's likely to be quieter there during the school holiday period.

Today the cloud was still over the Lakeland Fell tops when we got up but by mid morning the sun had come out and we've had glorious day, not too hot at about 20 C. After a trip into Wigton to restock our food supplies we did a short walk along the Vallum of Hadrian's Wall. After lunch by the Solway we visited the RSPB's Campfield Marsh Nature Reserve and did the 2 1/2 ml walk. Sat outside in the sunshine reading till well gone 8:00 this evening, and now have a cloudless sky.

Glad that you had a good walk out today, WN and no rain..

CY, when we had damp in our MH it was indeed wheel spray that caused it. OH had checked underneath but couldn't find anything obvious. When the dealer stripped it out it was the wheel arch that had not been properly sealed. On many vans I believe it is a common complaint. Thankfully ours was still under warranty.

Just looking at France where my sister and brother in law are doing their usual trip to the Loire area and it's 40C. We're out later today to a garden talk (puppy sitter will be here!) Should be a nice few hours with Pimms and afternoon tea, just glad it's not too hot. Looks like a nice day with a slight breeze.

Hope things are going well for your Mum TG, sounds like you are back into the swing of home life.

Good to read about all the various trips and home activities. smile

Sounds like you have a lovely day lined up for today brue enjoy.

I think we arrived back from France at the right time smile I think we went at the right time to laughing everyone here is telling us how much rain they have had while we've been away and the garden is a testament to that.

Had some bad news this morning from an elderly friend in the village, he went to collect his caravan from his storage place yesterday afternoon and while on his way home it came adrift from the car. Caused a fair bit of damage to 2 other cars and I think the caravan is a write off. Appears no one has been injured but he is very shaken up by it all, they were to be going away today for a week. His wife had heart surgery earlier this year and its the first time they have been able to get away. OH has gone with them to help sort out the caravan and retrieve what they can.

The care home Mum is in is on restricted visits at the moment as they have a D&V outbreak, my sister went to see her on Wednesday but they advised her that they were trying to quarantine the unit to stop it spreading, Mum is fine and well at the moment here's hoping it stays that way.

Another beautiful day here today so more gardening is on the cards for me, I ache everywhere so here's hoping a bit of light work will help easy it laughinglaughing

Tomorrow is the last day of term for our eldest grand daughter who goes to boarding school up here. The school have a big parade on the last day with parents and family members invited so no work for us tomorrow.

Its a great day for all, with prize giving in the morning, followed by music from the pupils, then free time for them to have lunch. Some go out for lunch at the Dunblane Hydro hotel which is close by, while others take a picnic. If you have ever driven from Stirling to Perth or vice a versa you will see the school from the road, with its massive grounds and sports pitches. Can't believe its her second Grand Day already, her brother starts the school at the end of August when they return after the summer holidays.

Another glorious sunny day here.  A local primary school is here for a visit (hatted and suncreamed rather waterproof and wellies). We do about 25 visits a year, organised by my daughter in law who's a part time teacher.

    https://www.visitmyfarm.com/

The NFU Organic Forum visit on Tuesday was almost lucky withthe weather - just a few drops. We did far too much baking so now the freezer is full of cakes.

Meanwhile my husband is at another local farm where the Westmorland Show Society organise massive school days every two years. Info copied below (sorry, it's a bit long)

One of the most rewarding events on the WCAS calendar is our Farm Open Days which take place every two years starting tomorrow, with the second day on Thursday. Schools across Cumbria and North Lancashire are invited to attend Heaves Farm, Levens, with over 100 volunteers and demonstrators giving their time to help make the Farm Open Day a truly memorable day of discovery for the children. With its beginnings in 2007, the Farm Open Day initiative aims to help youngsters explore the link between farming and the food that reaches their plate, whilst learning about the importance of agriculture and sustainable farming and food production.

Various stations are set up around the farm, with a mix of more traditional farming methods that are widely used; sheep shearing, sheep dog handling, poultry keeping skills as well as promoting the use of technology in farming by incorporating a veterinary lambing simulator, along with an automated sheep run and weigh cell. The children discover how dairy cows are milked, how the milk is processed and bottled, and have a go at milking ‘Clover’ our wooden dairy cow.

WCAS understands that the future of farming lies with future generations, and with this in mind, the aim of the Farm Open Days is to inspire and educate these future generations to the agricultural landscape around them

Another smashing day of masochistic hedonism as we walked up and back around Pen y Ghent, one of the 3 Dales Peaks. Lovely sunny day but the hill lived up to its name, Windy Hill. The famous cafe was closed so we drove home, had a coffee then walked into Settle for an ice cream

TG - Hope to get to France (or Holland or Belgium or...) this autumn but caravan needs some warranty work as wardrobe drifting away from wall and metal bed slats gone slightly askew. Keeping fingers crossed as this trip was rearranged when we had to cancel Spring trip due to hospital appts for MiL. Hope you enjoy tomorrow.

Nice post Goldie. As Oneputt says the children need to know where their food comes from.

We're back after a two week tour across to Wales. We've had a lovely time with mainly good weather. We stayed at three different CLs, one near Monmouth, one near Camrose Haverfordwest and one near the Malvern Hills in Worcester to break the journey into easy 3 hour tows. Wales was great. We've taken some beach photographs in such good sunny weather that we look like we're abroad. Glad to be home before we get 29 degrees on Saturday. When we left Lincolnshire before our holiday there was flooding with villages underwater......now we're in a heatwave.😊
