Thanks for the tips. If we make it sooner I don't think it'll be the motorhome - if I take it out it will be local. Not sure there's a great deal local in Essex/Suffolk that we've not done. 😂😂😂 Need to take baby steps. Really got out of the habit of driving but I'm getting back into it but not sure about motorhome yet.

I know some nice cottages close to Thirsk and Helmsley Bakers, decent prices as well. We are off in October with SIL and her OH. Mile from Rievaulx Abbey. 😁

Has been another warm day but much cloudier. We did get to the visited the Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns and Carsluith Castle before heading on to Kirroughtree Forest where we did a couple of the way marked trails, and saw a Red Squirrel from the wildlife hide. It has just recently started to rain, unfortunately.

Hope all goes well for Pooch with the visit to the specialist, tda.

Good to hear that things are settling down B2. One step at a time for you both.

Hope all had a good weekend those with ailments and pet problems hope they get well soon.

After playing pirates on the beach this morning mummy and daddy came to collect the grandtwins after lunch.  Caravan now feels enormous and empty.  Went to Carlton Marshes for a good wander this afternoon and just avoided a confrontation with parent swans with several really young cygnets.  As they say all’s well that ends well and we didn’t need to make a nearly 3 mile detour.

Millie, it was nice to hear you did the walk we did last year, worth the trek I think?! Can't believe a year has gone since we had the get together with Oneputt.

Do hope TDA's Sheffield vet can help with the dog's eyes, hope it's not too much of a battle with the traffic either.

Lots of interesting places on your travels Nellie, we like to find similar things.

Pleased to hear Bakers2 are both making good progress, take it easy!

We're back to glorious technicolour in the garden, daughter's partner mowing the lawn just as we arrived back, how's that for good service!? (It was a relief to find everything had got through the heavy rain down here.)

Dentist for me in a few minutes. frown Then shopping and cooking for son tonight. I think I'll have another holiday. wink

Very humid here today. Just looking in before doing the accounts!

Sounds like a lovely break Brue hope all goes well at the dentist, is it still the tooth that has been giving you trouble?

Cyberyacht I do understand what you're saying, very impressed at your skills. Daft question why would the designer put a small pipe in? Cant be because it looks attractive as I assume you can actually see it under normal circumstances. Was it all easily accessible?

Enjoy your day folks whatever you're doing.

It was our once a month weekend off at the weekend, but we couldn't get away as we are in the middle of restoring our much neglected patio to something less like a wilderness.

We nipped down to B&Q to buy some Teak Oil for the large garden table and while there I sat down in a patio seating set. This planted an idea in my mind so on Saturday afternoon we went to a proper garden centre and are now the proud owners of two comfy rattan chairs, footstools and small table. It's a good job there's only two of us - we would have struggled to afford any more. Much comfier than our rather upright wooden chairs.

And now I'm baking. Tomorrow the NFU are holding an Organic Dairy Farm Tour here. If anyone thinks the sponge cake must be strawberry flavour because of the colour. It's not. I was "attacked" by one of our cats when I stopped talking to her. Rather profuse bleeding.

Currently sat in car park not far from Vets in Sheffield. It’s another world in city centre. Not the most salubrious of areas, however, on the upside at least it isn’t the red light area where they caught the Yorkshire Ripper. We arrived early to beat the traffic, which wasn’t as bad as we feared, although getting back out is going to be......interesting. Conclusion I have reached is that I am not a city person. For a variety of reasons this is our third big city visit since January. Manchester (mega dump), London (huge overpriced mega dump with a few interesting bits) and now Sheffield. Noisy, dirty, squalid in places, a mix of seriously old, with not very inspiring new. It’s made me realise just how lucky we have been living and working where we do. Ok for a rare night out, that’s about it.🤔

B2, it's all hung below the van floor inside the chassis members. The new tap is a little more obtrusive than the original which was decidedly "toy town" in size.

Hope vets visit produced a good result ttda.

Funnily enough we were talking about city visits the other day on one of our walks. We've come to the conclusion that they're only worth a visit for specific things such as exhibitions or concerts. We've generally seen most major UK ones but we are thinking of paying a visit to Edinburgh, to catch the Da Vinci exhibition.

I can put up with smaller cities for a day visit, such as the one we made to Newcastle a few weeks ago. Wanted to see some architecture. Enjoyed if but only spent 5 hours there. Don't need to go back.

We were talking about whether we wanted to go back to Paris. We've walked miles in that city at all sorts of times of the year, seen the Mona Lisa, Musee D'Orsay, Rodins museum, Eiffel Tower etc, but now?...... No thanks.

Had an easy drive over from Thirsk to Settle and our new CL for a week. Weather behaved itself, until we got within 5 miles of the CL when the heavens opened. Fortunately someone found the off tap just as we arrived.

Strolled into Settle. Didn't linger as skies very threatening but at the moment behaving itself.

Meant to ask MillieH. Did you see any Electric Eels? Hope you are having a good time.

Hope Tammy's ok and that her mum hasn't gotten worse. Haven't heard from her for a while.

    I 'm here laughing

just got back at 18.30 today. Managed to miss all the rain on the way up the A1, it was in front of us so we saw the aftermath. Edinburgh was pretty bad in places with flooding so an hour sat in very slow traffic.

Mum doing better this last week. I got in touch with her GP and asked for a review of her meds as I  was concerned about a new one they had put her on.  That's now been stopped smile turns out the hospital told the carehome Mum has heart failure. Big sister spoke to GP who has very little info from hospital as to severity, looks like a chase up from hospital is required. Blood thinner and water tablets seem to be helping though as she is more alert, less tired and is breathing much better. smile

Apolgies for not posting for awhile, my data card  in the mifi ran out. The site we were on didn't have great wifi (free) so gave up in the end.

We had a lovely last 2 weeks visting Bourge and Blois then Neufchatel en Bray for a few days before the ferry home. The weather has been hot and sunny so a shock to come back to 15c and a cold house.  Garden is a jungle with all the rain, the grass out back that I treated with weed and feed before we left has done its joblaughinglaughing will have to strim before taking the lawn mower over it, looks lush though.

Will catch up with all the other posts in the next few days, hope everyone is okay and not suffered with the recent weather.

Glad to hear that you are back safe and sound tammygirl and that your Mum seems a little better.

I too hope that Robsail and his family are doing OK.

Good to hear that your mum seems to be improving, TG, and that you had a good trip, with fine weather.

Glad that you didn't get soaked setting up, WN. Which CL are you using at Settle? Is it Brigholme Farm?

Hope that the specialist has put your minds at rest following his examination of pooch this evening, tda.

Looks as if we got away from the Edinburgh area just in time as we we've another decent day. Although we've not seen much sun it's not been cold and we've only had a few spots of light rain.We didn't go far today, just into Gatehouse for a walk in Cally Park this morning, follwed by a wander round the town, and another walk through Castramont Woods. This is our last night in Scotland for this trip, back into Cumbria tomorrow.

Heavy rain overnight here,  my poor rambling rector 😢. Heard a clap of thunder about 4am after seeing brightness, obviously lightening and I must have been semi awake, but nothing more so can't be certain if that was it.

Tammygirl good to hear your mum's improving - plenty to keep you occupied at home for a while 😲.

Safe travels to those on the move for whatever reason. Enjoy your day folks.

Glad to hear your Mum is a bit better Tammygirl and that you have had a good time away.

I've been thinking about your vets visit TDA.  Do let us know what the vet said.

Enjoy your time away WN and Nellie.  Hope you manage to skip most of the bad weather.  We've a few more weeks yet before we get away.  Still things going on here.

It's been raining here so far today, but no thunder and lightning- unless I slept through it (that's unlikely).  Hope it cheers up for Thursday at least - it's the U3A Concert during the day followed by a Hog Roast.  I appear to be an honorary member of the U3A these days, since they asked me to start a choir with them a few years back.  The trouble is, I won't be able to drink too much as I have an evening practice with the Brewood Singers.  If I know anything about it, they'll more than make up for it..  laughing

     Have a good day everyone.

    David

And my poor Albertines Bakers! 🌹Torrential here this morning.

Woof.........yesterday was a roller coaster vet day. Hour and a half with vet, who it has to be said is just brilliant. Test after test for our lovely boy, who was the perfect patient throughout. (Vet came in already bleeding from a not very nice little snapper😲) came home with lots of information, some meds to try (he’s on so many we now have a written chart of what, when and how much) and promise of lots of stuff pinging it’s way to our vets via email. If only the NHS worked as efficiently and quickly. End of day sees us retrying a good few of the meds already tried, but this time with some extras and a combination that ought to fell a rhino, never mind a pet dog. Patient is of course oblivious to all of this and his normal happy self, albeit life is a tad blurred. Fingers crossed, toes as well.🤞

Good that you feel happy with the consultation TDA, hope things go well for your Labrador.

Just waved off son to Glastonbury, lots of instructions for whippet puppy (who is now happily sprawled out on the sofa beside me!) Son was telling me about the three thousand motorbikes amongst other things he'll be helping with as he's volunteered for some security work too. It's been pouring with rain but the forecasts are for high temps so a typical Glastonbury mix.

Other than that I'm recovering from a horrible dental session yesterday which I hope is the last. So much for time to sort things after a holiday, piles of washing still to be done.

Watch out for the heatwave one and all! wink

Back home after a fantastic long weekend at Kessingland.  Had the van weighed on the way back and happy to say we are 45 kilos under the plated weight.  Obviously when we go for a longer trip the weight will creep up a tad.  Looks as though we will be having fresh Strawberry's and Raspberry's for tea tonightlaughing

Takethedogalong fingers crossed that the meds will do the trick. Sorry to hear Albertine has suffered too.

Oneputt good to know you've got spare capacity in weight terms I'm sure there won't be that much more on a longer trip. After all how much do knickers and pants weigh? 😉

Brue hope that is the end of dental work for you for a long time. Enjoy puppy sitting. The washing will get sorted, then they'll be more!

JVB did you tackle the grass or leave it to make hay on your eventual return? Hopefully it will have been too wet for you to have to contemplate cutting.

Helenandtrevor good to hear from you sorry about that 4 letter word that keeps you occupied - but it also pays for your trips 😉

Very humid here. Haven't got the impetus to apply myself to anything so just doing what's necessary. Just dropped OH at his rehab class and I've come back home - only an hour indoors but not enough to do much else and I don't want to sit around the hospital - can't think why 😂 so having a cuppa and catch up on here.

Think you'll be ok for Thursday David. Looks the best day of the week.

Not the best day weather wise. We had planned to break up the walking days with a trip to Skipton as the Art Shop has just had a refit but decided to bring it forward to today. Very wet until about 30 minutes ago. Now some sun.

Just finished some fresh Strawberries bought from Booths this morning. Yum. Local ones as well.

Have been picking broad beans in the garden today, blackcurrants need picking too but got the gooseberries done a couple of weeks ago.

Strawberries for us too, but had to buy them, raspberries we won't have to buy!

Very humid, visiting puppy can't believe how much run around space he has, we have to keep calling him as he vanishes into various places, goodness me, whippets are fast on their feet! wink
