We had a trip over to the MacArthur Glen at Livingston this morning, for a final bit to retail therapy for Mrs NTH, before a walk along the Union Canal after lunch. It has been a sunny day again but we've also had the odd shower of rain. Site is the busiest that we've seen it during either of our visits this trip, but there are still a few pitches free. We too move on down to D&G tomorrow, to a CL near Gatehouse of Fleet.

Very pleased to hear that your op appears to be a success, B2, greatly pleased for you.

Glad to read that you've had a much better day weatherwise, millie, after the storms of the previous night.

Lovely picture, Goldie. The clouds certainly give it atmosphere, but you can keep the rain down there for a week or so yet.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow WN. Hope you have a good walk out without getting soaked.

It's a pity that all you guys that recount your trips in such detail here don't contribute to the Story Section?

B****y Hell, Bakers 2 surprised.  That's one huge improvement on my ops young lady !! I saw a marked improvement in colours { whites looked white** instead of beige or 'nude' as them youngsters call it nowadays embarassed} after two days, but it took a fortnight 'til I got clearance to drive.

** Had to buy a pair of wrap-around sunglasses the sun was soooo bright ! Ginny Westwood's best from ASDA  - still got them in their golden  wrapper  money-mouth - great niece keeps trying to half-inch them tho'wink

Two reasons for them lying down, David ==>

    1)  they are keeping their next meal warm & dry

2 )  Cows are lazy blighters

ABM I can't believe how quickly it's all settled and how great it is. My late dad had his 2nd one removed 39 years ago, I know cos it was the year we married. Hospital stay, in those days the eye ward overlooked the county ground in Chelmsford, his favorite game! Covered with patch for ages and it looked a mess so probably tge rason. No replacement implant so hard contact lenses inserted and removed daily. Oh what fun we had when one got accidently rubbed out. I have found one on a leaf in a hedge he was cutting 😲.

Advice on driving was 1-2 weeks, when settled and you meet DVLA standards. I reckon I already have! Not going to rush though.

Glorious morning here, would have been my dad's birthday - my grandmother had 7 one on the longest and one on the shortest day of the year. Whatever you do today enjoy 😂

You just carry on carrying on, Millie --  if you're being naughty the Lords of East Grinstead will tell you quite soon enough.   innocent

Now I think it's time for my 6-monthly trip to Tesco then I'll be drawing up my paper route to Bourton under Water then Furrycoat Meadows.  Always use a paper guide -- none of these sat navs for ABM - looked at them a while back but couldn't understand the installation instructions never mind the User Manual surprised

I once drove through Bourton when it was under water ABM! And Moreton in Marsh. However, I used a Roman Map, Fosse Way. Those Romans weren’t stupid, they built road on highest ground. Unreal driving along road with fields both sides under water.....2007, the big flood. Need to add I was in a Disco fitted with a snorkel!

    Happy Birthday WN!

Happy travels anyone planning their next move.

We're now on  a CL for the last two nights of our 14 day 7 site adventure. Nice place, details later! wink

PS had a great morning at Port Sunlight. Generally now over  stuffed with coffee and cakes in all the places we have visited.  laughing

We enjoyed our visit to Port Sunlight a few years ago, but weather wasn't as good as your photo brue.

Did a bit of driving and even reversing in something a little bigger than our MH today. It certainly makes you appreciate how difficult those reversing manovers HGV drivers perform are. I had a whole runway to play with, not just a narrow entrance way.

    Freddy

I am not suggesting they are stories in themselves but given that over several days or perhaps a week they could add up to a interesting story especially if people could add some photos. It seems to me that many of you relate some very interesting places and information that it would be nice to see them as a story.

Thank you Brian. They were fulfilled 40+ years ago when she said "I do".kiss Big softie that I am.

Thanks folks for your kind wishes which were fulfilled splendiferously today. We drove to Helmsley via Sutton Bank and after coffee, and a piece of GF Orange Cake, walked to Rievaulx Abbey and Rievaulx Terrace on a lovely sunny day. Twas super. The delights of Helmsley was slightly overshadowed by the arrival of hundreds of motorbikes for a weekend festival at Duncombe Park, adjacent to the pretty town. Nevertheless Helmsley was as nice as we hoped it would be.

The site seems to be full.

We're heading away from Helmsley tomorrow.laughing

Freddie, I've just compared by road atlas to the RAC website and it would seem that my map is so old that the junctions have change number since it's publication......in 2004!!  It is of course Jnct 44, sorry for the misinformation.embarassed

WN, we've seen lots of groups of motorcyclists today on our journey down from Linlithgow, on the A74 heading South and on the A75 going East. I wonder if they were heading your way.

Nellie, Mrs WN counted over 200 bikes heading towards Helmsley on our return journey to Thirsk, about 20 minutes.surprised There were already at least 100 in Helmsley when we left and the road outside the site has had loads passing by since we've been back.

Just think, we had planned on revisiting on Sunday to have a proper look around it.laughing Need to find an alternative.

    Hope your journey went well.

WN, it's The Farmyard Party, supposed to be the largest meet of M/C & Trikes Only, so no cars or vans etc .A 3 day event with up to 30 bands. Glad that I don't live next door!! Here's a link

    https://www.bikermatch.co.uk/events/event.asp?event_id=6188

Trip down was fine and the weather's been great, although it's still a bit chilly in the breeze & out of the sun. High wispy clouds at the moment.
