    Beautiful day here too.

We moved today to Cordes just north of Albi, lovely campsite about 50 pitches, hedges on 3 sides, nice and open yet still plenty of shade if needed. Nice youngish Dutch couple took it over a couple of months ago, working very hard to make it even better.

Big sister went to see Mum this morning and has reported back that she appears to be improvingsmile xray confirmed a touch of pneumonia, caught in time. New antibiotics, specific to pneumonia started today. The carehome says she is eating and drinking well and the bed rest is working smile

Went to Cordes this afternoon, lovely old town on top of a hill, we took one look at the hike to get to the top and decided we would take the little trainlaughing fantastic views from the top. Tomorrow we will go to Albi.

Hope you are all enjoying the good weather.

We are back home in the Lot and had a lovely sunny trip back best day of our break, a lot of grass cutting to do in the next couple of days but at least the van is unpacked.

Tammygirl thanks for details of the Cahors and another request the details of where you are staying at Cordes as we are having another break next month had looked up a few sites within a hundred miles so the site you are on sounds like our type of site(many thanks), a long time since we have been to Cordes and would like to go to Albi as well.

It was a lovely day here too, OH had borrowed some scaffold towers so set about replacing the facias and guttering at the front of the house. There are some sparrows nesting under the corner and using the guttering to get in and out, so he had to work quickly so the chicks in the nest didn't go hungry wink . The adult sparrows were sitting on the roof next door watching OH at work.  We were a bit worried that they might not return to the next to feed the chicks but we needed of worried.  We watched the birds popping in and out afterwards so all was well.smile

Sounds like a great day Moulesy. Whitby is one of our favourite places. Hope to get up there later in the year.

Well that was an eye opener, or actually it wasn't as I woke up to find I'd given myself a black eye during the night!surprised  I exaggerate slightly as this happened to me last year when we were in Somerset. Burst blood vessel left an ugly mark under one of my eyes and I had it checked out in Shaftesbury. This morning it appears that the same thing happened but to the other eye. Can't blame Mrs WN as she was in the spare bed as she was restless. The only thing I can think of is that about 4 o'clock I woke up to clear my nose and I must have burst the vessel whilst blowing my nose and not realised it. At least it makes me look scary and I do seem to have had excellent service in the shops today.smile

The cathedral in Albi is very striking Tammy. Quite envious at the moment as you are in an area we like a lot.

Funny enough we've also got Whitby to look forward to. I like my Fish and Chips from The Quayside as they do excellent Gluten Free ones and also a small size if required, like half way around a walk for example.

We gave Whitby a swerve today, decided on the lovely museum at Hutton Le Hole as Mum has never been. She loved it, especially the piglets. Stunningly glorious day, very warm, we had a great pub lunch, then a wander around the mainly open air museum, and finally another scenic ride over Moors. Last night here, but we shall wander home taking in some other interesting places. Been a lovely stay, can highly recommend this place for anyone who needs none tourer accommodation alongside a great little site.

I don't think I realise how much extra work there would be when we had the boiler moved! I had to replaster the wall in the utility where the old boiler was. I also found an almost full roll of wallpaper so I was able to match it up with the rest of the room. Put back the cupboard which I had to cut to allow for gas pipes.Just waiting now for one of my sons to be able to help put the work top back in place, too heavy for Margaret and I. The Airing Cupboard which previously held the hot water tank which has now gone now houses the new boiler. A bit more plastering in there and a repaint. First coat on today. Had to construct a new shelf for the towels. If that was not enough work I noticed last week that one of the toilets had a slight leak from the pan connector. In order to replace it I had to disconnect the toilet. That is when the fun and games started as I managed to damage the cistern innards which then needed to be replaced! Simon came over on Saturday to help including going off to buy new parts. We managed it in the end but it took hours!!! Haven't even thought about going away in the van!!!

Our last day at Bridlington before we head off down to Wortley Hall CL. And after a horrendous start, what a week it's been! Almost summer, in fact walking every day in T shirts and shorts. We've done an interesting mix of coastal and inland walks and, of course, Bempton Cliffs being the highlight. This morning we walked into Bridlington and sat by the harbour for coffee. Then back for lunch before a shopping trip to stock up for the next few days. The site is really filling up now so it's a good time to be moving on!  Off out to the Royal Dog & Duck again tonight (no mixed grill this time though!) and then we start the journey home tomorrow. Two stop offs on the way to enjoy yet though. smile

Lovely sunny day here with plenty going on.  Booked our ferry for our August break.  Sorted out all sorts of gash gear for Mrs Ones scout group jumble sale this weekend.  I sorted and packed my car for my trip out to Shropshire tomorrow, last trip in the Lunarlaughing.  After lunch walked down to the beach and called in to the Coast-watch station to arrange a visit for the cub group.  Walk a little way along our stunning 6 miles of golden sands before returning home.  I did note that all the Turnstones had now migrated.

The site we chose here is Acsi no 2369 Camping Redon, there has only been about 4 vans on the 2 days we've been here. Really convenient for Albi and Cordes, nice friendly owner, the weather has been a bonus. We are on pitch 44, sun all day but still with shade if needed, good satellite signal smile.

Brilliant day today, went to Albi this morning, WN you are right a very impressive cathedral, the largest brick cathedral in the world.

This afternoon we went to Gailac, lovely town also red brick in the old town. Agree this is a lovely area, any MHers interested Cordes has a very nice aire for 7€ a night, 5 min walk up a steepish path brings you out right in the middle of the low town near the tourist information office and little train.

We have decided to head to Agde tomorrow, probably stop for a week smile haven't used the bikes yet due to first the weather and latterly the hilly terrain. Looking forward to a week of lovely ridessmile

Keep on enjoying the weather, while it lasts.

Glad you're able to relax a little TG as your mum seems on the mend.

Busy day sorting out fiddly bits here and there, mostly in town this morning. Noticed our doctors practice is sharing with a lone practice now as one of their doctors has left (not ours but t'other). Wales seems in a bit of a GP crisis at the moment with stories abounding of clinic closures. Was going to make a political comment but better not.sealedyell

Took MiL for blood test this morning. Looks like new meds helping, blood test just precautionary. One more follow up for other problem on Thursday then hopefully we can hit the road a bit earlier than planned.

Ttda, which place were you staying at as we may look to take MiL at some point?

I'm having to delagate jobs for a change for a few weeks ,and only spending a short time up there ,before 'feet-up ' time and relaxing .

Lovely sunny warm day here today and apparently tomorrow is to be even better. Been quite busy today, for a couple of months or so we have noticed that one of the tyres on the caravan seems to lose pressure every couple of weeks in fact last week it went completely flat. As we are going away this weekend and next I thought it be a good idea to take the tyre to get checked out. Jacked up the van took the wheel off and there were two nails stuck in the tyre. A quick trip to our local tyre centre got it sorted out £15 so wheel and tyre now back on the van ready for the off on Friday.

Where are you off to this weekend Francis?

We're hoping to start our long trip a bit earlier. Probably end up somewhere in the South Lakes area as we're heading to Borrowdale shortly afterwards.

Having filled the MH to the gunwales in anticipation of our trip to the Black Forest, I thought it prudent to get the MH weighed. The good news is that I still have capacity for a few cases of plonk on the way back and we don't need to diet. wink

It’s called Ashfield, here is link to everything including CL.

    https://www.ashfieldcottages.co.uk/

We booked Garden room for Mum and Sister, spacious big room has twin or linked double, sitting area with easy chairs and table, a kitchen area with toaster, microwave, sink, fridge which is great for breakfast and light meals, and a private spacious wetroom bathroom. Lovely sitting out area by garden and raised pond. CL is next to this, so Mum and Sis strolled across to us on CL and we ate in MH. They loved it, so easy for Mum and better than B&B as they could do what they wanted in morning. We shall definitely go back again, as village is gorgeous, Site is quiet, full of wildlife and birds, and it’s ideally located for some of best bits of NY Moors. Pickering is 15 minutes, Whitby 25 minutes. CL is all grass, but usually firm under wheel, mown like a lawn, and lots of pitching area options.

No, but do know it. It’s expensive, and I think they have car boot sales in adjacent field so not as idyllic as first appears. Best kept secret in Hutton is the Crown Inn. It has hook ups in car park behind the pub for three outfits I think. Can recommend food in pub as well.

We used Ashfield Caravan Site CL https://www.ashfieldcottages.co.uk/

One of our favourites, located in a lovely quiet village. 😁

Yes, a bit pricey. I was attracted by the location and it’s proximity to places to visit. I checked out your link, but unfortunately we have a requirement for shower and toilet. Could you possibly recommend somewhere in the area?

We're now at Wortley Hall CL - and what a stunning location for a site. It's set in a sheltered area just next to the Hall's walled garden -a real sun trap. I wish I could post a sound recording because there has been an absolute cacophony of birdsong all afternoon - ought to be able to identify at least some of them! wink

The grounds are looking perfect too, just about enough colour left in the bluebells to make a good picture and the rhododendrons look stunning. No WiFi up on site, although there is in the hall itself. So I'm relying on 4G on my phone. But will post some pictures in a couple of days time.smile

TDA & Moulesy both of the places you've written about sound very nice. We had a good walk along a marshy area of the Dart today, I could hear reed warblers and see goslings and ducklings. Although it's been sunny the wind has been a bit keen. Moving on soon, same area different outlook. smile

It's been another beautiful  day here, glad that all away are making the most of it. smile

OH finished the facias and guttering at the front of the house with a bit of help from one of our neighbours, looking good now only the back and side to do!

Collected the van from storage today for our holiday, it needed a bit of a sort out as it was taken back on route after our last weekend away. Really ready for a break now,  first full week off work since October.
