Lovely to read all your 'doings' ๐
Helenandtrevor that bed may sound expensive but as my nan used to say a comfortable bed and comfortable shoes are essential. If you're not in one you're in the other ๐. I've found those to be very wise words! Besides which if you work out how long you've had your old bed for and divide cost by number of nights it's a steal ๐.
Another David best wishes for your wife's recovery. Good to hear it isn't hindering your enjoyment of the area.
Great to hear of all your trips away, not jealous but a little envious ๐. Please keep posting there's ideas for the future.
Tricky good to hear you are resting up, it's not easy when you're used to doing things yourself - but sometimes you need to accept help and assistance and friends and family offer it readily and want to assist.
Great news here OH home yesterday afternoon, Thursday, mix up over care package - I won't bore you all but left and right hand once again! We went to the Cardiac centre at Basildon on Wednesday for outpatients appointments, I'd secured 2 different clinic appoints on the same morning! Round of applause please ๐๐which we weren't missing! Hospital arranged transport ๐ฒ arrival at other hospital 2 hours after1st appointment time! Don't go there ๐ญ๐ค. Did i stress???
OH ICD all 'ticking' along nicely. Remote device to place by his beside, yet to be set up, apparently it's simple and you don't need a young person! We will see as it's on the list for today or tomorrow to set up. Next check up 6 months will be remotely via device and telephone consultation.
Surgical team discharged him ๐. All healed nicely, just one last wound on leg, 1 of 5 where they removed vein for re-routing in the chest taking its time to heal. Nice ECG to see espically aftrr the 'before' ones and x-ray clearly showed ICD - wished I asked to take photo of it!
Splashed out for a taxi back as the wait for transport couldn't be accurately predicted as they were very busy and would be a minimum of an hour more likely much longer. Money well spent in our opinion ๐. It meant that I was able to make my GP appointment that evening. I never thought in my wildest dreams a 1045 appointment 40 minutes from home/hospital could mean being late for my GP appointment at 1730! GP surgery very understanding when I phoned in the morning to explain the transport fiasco.
Still hopefully all in the past we are now looking forward to finding our new normal ๐๐๐. I'm hoping to get our motorhome looked at by mechanic friend, engine battery is dead then get it MOT'd and then who knows............ he's been on at me for ages but time has been my issue, should make a nice jaunt out for us in the next week.
Wherenext I'm hoping Burnham Wick will have some space for us before the end of the season!

Wherenext I'm hoping Burnham Wick will have some space for us before the end of the season!
well how silly am I? Anyone think I had lots on my plate ๐๐๐๐.
For Wherenext read Oneputt. Incidentally when are you booked for?
Another David kind words but we all have to cope with what's thrown our way regardless.

Good to hear your OH is home and you have the summer ahead to enjoy.
Best wishes to David's OH, hope the toes heal up well now and the plaster comes off soon.
Hope you spot an Osprey Nellie, are you heading for the Insh Marshes? I used to love getting into the area at the back of there around Feshie Bridge.
Not a lot doing here today will hopefully start getting the van ready this weekend.

So pleased to hear that your OH is home and making good progress bakers2. You will have to write a book about your NHS experiences in the last few months
. I hope you manage to get a trip out in your MH soon. Hopefully you will have a nice relaxing summer to rest and recuperate after the last months.
We heard yesterday that the new window for our caravan has arrived at the dealers so OH is to ring them this morning to get a date arranged. Hopefully they can fit us in before our Norfolk trip next month. We are off later today (after a college class this morning) to Houghton Mill. Looking at the weather I have a feeling we won't be putting the awning up this afternoon

Good to hear from you Bakers. Glad you are seeing some progress. It's quite easy getting Oneputt and myself mixed up. We both like Adnams Broadside, enjoy Birdwatching and are both dashingly good looking!
After 2 days of non stop rain, it stopped. well long enough to let us venture out and get far enough away from the car before starting again.๐ฆ
Had loads of little jobs to do in and around town which took us the best part of 3 hours to complete. This afternoon Mrs.WN is putting her finishing touches to an oil painting she had just done of the Lock House on the Exe opposite Topsham and I'm packing books and maps etc. for our jollies. All good fun. Must admit the painting looks good but she'll no doubt find some fault with it that needs fixing. These Artistes are soooo......

Nice to hear everyone's news, great news from Bakers having OH back home again.
AD, sorry to hear OH, has a plaster on, hope its better soon.
We have found some sun
currently at a lovely site near Cahors, we had 2 neighbours yesterday but today they have gone and we are billy no mates. Never been on a site on our own before, could get used to this.
We stopped at Chateroux on the way down, stopped there a few years ago and liked it, not so good now as the gypsies/travellers have set up there, all in groups of 3 or 4 twin axle vans, lovely looking vans. They all have dogs chained up outside, barking and crying most of the time. Felt really sorry for them Wednesday night as we had a horrible storm, very high winds and lashing rain.
Thinking of going down to Spain for a couple of weeks until the weather picks up a bit here. Then got a message from big sis to say Mum not good, Dr been to see her again. Off to hospital yesterday to have x ray of chest, today Dr chasing up as Mum short of breath. Back on antibiotics and in bed getting some rest, good news is she is eating and drinking well, Dr thinks a touch of pneumonia
Could do with OP or WN here to identify all the bird calls we are hearing, I've managed blackbird, magpie and cuckoo but there is one like a trimphone that is very persistent, cant see it but its been calling all day.

Fabulous day today. Blue sky from the word go - so set off early this morning for the 8 mile walk around Flamborough Head and then a couple of hours at Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve. Puffins few and far between but made up for by thousands of gannets, razorbills and guillemots. Seeing some of the cameras in use made me very envious and my pictures hardly do the place justice.
Off out to the Royal Dog & Duck tonight at W's suggestion for a couple of pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord and what looks like a very challenging mixed grill!

Good to hear from you Bakers2, and pleased to hear your OH is back home . Thank you for your Nan's wise words.
Glad you had better weather today Moulesy and enjoyed you walk and visit to Bempton Cliffs, we have enjoyed both our visits there.
Good to hear your trip is going well Tammygirl , hope your Mum feels better soon.
Early start tomorrow as off to the metropolis of Manchester, youngest son wants us to take a look at what will hopefully be their new home. The survey has been done and all good so they are hoping all will go smoothly this time. Hoping to have a day in the Peak District on Sunday on route home.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend, whatever you are up to.

We are now at Houghton Mill and all set up. The sun shone all afternoon so we got the awning up as well. It has clouded over now with the odd shower of rain but we are tucked up in the caravan with a G and T (OH) and a glass of wine (me). The weather forecast looks good for the rest of the week.

We parked up by the church at the head of Loch Insh, brue, and were fortunate to see 5 Osprey, including the one on the nest. May have also spotted a Pine Martin, up in the forest near the Gliding Club, but it was so quick I couldn't be sure. We didn't get as far down towards Kingussie as the Marshes Reserve. Will save that for another time.
Funny sort of day weather wise, as it started out fine and sunny, then we had a spot of rain at Carrbridge, but dry again south of Kincraig until mid afternoon when the rain really came down. Fortunately we'd just back to the car from our afternoon walk when it started. Fine again in the early evening but raining now.
Hope that the OH's foot is soon healed AD. Wish her a speedy recovery from me.
B2, great news that OH is home and by the sounds of it much better. Hope that you are able to get out in your M/H in the not too dist ant future. BTW did you see that there's an exhibition just opening in Southend central museum, a collection of incredible artifacts discovered on a fateful dig in 2003. That day, workers unearthed an Anglo-Saxon princely burial chamber in Prittlewell, Essex, between a main road and a railway line, with an Aldi supermarket and the Saxon King pub.

Glad that the weather's improved for you M, and that you got your walk to Bempton done. We love the sight of the birds when we were there but the smell was something else!! You should sleep well tonight after your meal and couple of pints.
Hope that the weather holds for you at Houghton Mill, millie. Just the place to take things easy.
Take things slowly Tricky, but pleased to hear that you're out and about.
Good to hear that all's going well with your son's prospective new home, H&T. I'm sure that you'll give it the nod of approval. Have a safe trip up to and back from M/C.

Fingers crossed for good weather for those of you who are out and about, or even out in the caravan or motorhome. Good wishes to all those who are not well at present - get well soon.
I do find it difficult to keep track of all the posts on this thread. It always moves so quickly and it's easy to miss information.
Hope to be spending some of today eating birthday cake.
David

Well if it yours I hope you enjoy it David! ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ
The sun is out and it feels a lot warmer but the dentist beckons unfortunately.
We went out last night to see "School for Scandal" can't remember when I last saw this play, probably on TV years ago. Enjoyed it a lot, I felt slightly guilty as I'd had a good gossip with our elderly neighbours yesterday afternoon and the play is all about the pitfalls of gossip, very entertaining.

Happy Birthday, David. Have a glass on me.๐ท
A nice day for October. Still, the sun has been shining so I refreshed the caravan and even managed to clean Mrs WN's car. Not a big car washer so she can consider herself favoured. A bit of gardening as the brown bins were emptied yesterday and dinner needed a bit of prepping for tonight. Otherwise it's been a feet up day (oh we still had a walk this morning).
Good luck with the visit to the dentist Brue. We have a visit coming up this week. First time with new dentist. Took me years to break the other one in as well.

Merciful 'eavens David are you really that much younger than me
?? But Happy Birthday any way
On the strength of that I'll shut down on 'ere and go looking thro' my fridge, I'm sure there's a piece of cake in there I can join in the celebrations with
. { Don't tell Brue or her tooth might start wingeing again / more }
Personally I've just about recovered from the end of Holiday 1 - washing done, dried, ironed, aired & put away. Garden savaged, so quick to grow are them there bushes that I could barely get past to go to the workshop ( shed ). But my green bin is now full and I've proved its quicker by sharpened secateurs than blunt hedge trimmer even tho' the sparrers are lost & homeless until the foliage recovers. At least I could see to remove the aged tatty roosting pockets & order some more to install before I'm off again. Now, where's that cake .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
