Thanks, H&T, things aren't so bad, although OH did take a tumble this morning and I guess will be feeling the effects tomorrow. However the rest of the trip's been fine so far.
Where did son and friends find an event where there's enough mud. after all the good weather and lack of rain we've had this year?

Had a very interesting drive down through the valleys from North Wales to our CL near Machynlleth. Caravan, Car and occupants still in one piece.
The CL allows arrivals from 11 so we were here just after and after an early lunch wandered into the hills direct from the site. We did have a plan but changed it as usual and really enjoyed a 5 or 6 mile stroll. Nature was wonderful as usual and the views over the River Dyfi uplifting.
It's a nice unassuming CL, the type many of you who like such sites will enjoy.
Hope Moulesy's charity walk went well.
Give our best to OH, Nellie. Wrap her in Bubble Wrap tomorrow.

So glad that life is looking a bit brighter for you bakers2 and also pleased to hear that your cleaner is a success. You must have felt much better after having a relaxing reflexology session and then coming home to a lovely clean house. How lovely that you and your OH have managed some nice walks in the hospital grounds. I hope he improves enough to go home soon.
Good news about your new caravan OP. I hope it proves to be more of a success than your previous one. I have always rather liked the look of the Coachman caravans that I see around.
I hope your walk went well today moulesy and that Lady enjoyed seeing her sister again. Do you think they know each other?
Good to hear that you are having a nice time at Bromyard Downs Helen and that WN and his OH are settled in their CL for a few days. Nellie, look after Mrs Nellie. I hope she feels better soon.
It was absolutely diabolical weather here yesterday. It started off as a lovely morning at 8.00am but by 10.00am (just as I was about to hung out all the freshly washed bedding!) the sky went black and the heavens opened. The rest of the day was a mixture of black sky, heavy rain and hail showers and very high cold winds. I decided that indoor jobs were the order of the day and did more cupboard clearing and cleaning. It is very cold still here today and although very grey no wind and no rain. We popped over to our daughter's after the Cathedral today and are now home with the heating on and roast chicken about to go in the oven. I have no idea what to pack in the way of clothes for our trip away at the end of the week.

A bright but cold day for the Setter Rescue Walk today but at least it stayed dry. Numbers were down on last year but hopefully several hundred pounds raised for the cause. Lady's sister wasn't there this year but she made plenty of new friends including a huge pair of St Bernards! Will post some pictures when we get to Brid on Tuesday, can't do it from my phone.

Good to raise funds and have a get together Moulesy, will look forward to the photos.
Millie, it was roast chicken for us today too. My favourite easy meal except I had mine early and OH is just enjoying his at the moment as he's been out fishing all day.
Hoping it might warm up as we're off to Devon fairly soon, ancient terrier and dog buggy going too. In the meantime visiting terrier returns tomorrow, doesn't seem long since his last visit (yesterday!

Thanks for the good wishes for OH, the bruises are coming out nicely!!. It would appear that continuing with our walk yesterday, and a number of Ibuprofen, did some good as she was keen and able to do another 7 ml walk today, although it was all on the flat, along the old railway line. Colder today with a chill wind blowing, but at least it was dry.
I put out some seeds for the birds when we got back, and this was our first visitor to the food pile!!

moulesy, glad you had a successful day yesterday and that Lady made some new friends. I shall look forward to seeing the photos.
Glad to hear that mrs nellie is OK and isnt suffering too much. Lovely photos.
Brue, hope you have a good trip to Devon. Is visiting dog going with you?

Hope Mrs nelliethehooker is recovering well, sounds like she's made of strong stuff! Hope those suffering with illness or teeth 😉 are fairing well too.
Good to hear folks enjoying themselves, bright but very chilly wind here - I'm off into the garden to tackle the bits of chosia still in the ground, some hacking, sorry trimming, back of branches before attempting the roots. Friend cut the grass yesterday 😀. Treated 'us' to an electric weed burner which I tried the other day - it appears to be successful so in between I'll use that on the block paving. We both foolishly thought block paving would be very low maintenance, sadly it isn't!! Tried all sorts over the years but hope this burner will prove an reasonable solution. All good exercise before the hospital visit.
As for packing for upcoming trips might I suggest the usual British way? Something for every type of weather/occasion. Although I'd forget the ballgown/tuxedo unless you know you'll need it 😂😂.
Enjoy your day folks

Bakers2, we were staying on the York site some years ago when a couple staying near us (in a very small Eriba) stepped out in full evening dress one evening and went off into York

That's why we like the side dinette in the van, we can get dressed up, Chandelier and flowers on the table along with a bottle of bubbly, very civilised
Bakers hope you manage to get stuff done in the garden before the rain hits. Just booked a week at Burnham Wick for mid July.
Will be starting to audit the scout group accounts this afternoon.

Sorry to hear Mrs NTH took a tumble, hope she is ok.
The Tough Mudder courses are usually muddy, but judging by the pictures this year there can't have been much, as our son looked remarkably clean when he finished this time!

Glad the Setter walk went well Moulesy and you raised some much needed funds.
We arrived home this afternoon after a lovely break at Bromyard Downs, even if it was a slightly scenic route as OH took the wrong turning
Bromyard Downs is a great little site, particularly good for walking . It was wonderful to be kept awake last night by the owls in the trees behind the van, and the Nuthatches who almost emptied our feeder also kept us entertained
We dropped the van back into storage on the way home, our usual spot was still occupied, so had to find an empty space.
Our next trip isn't for a couple if weeks as we are visiting youngest son next weekend in Manchester. They have had their offer excepted on a house and want us to check it out.
Wishing all those about to set off on breaks a safe journey and have a great time.

My eldest son's stepson and wife came up to MK yesterday with their nine month old daughter Mila, the first time we have seen her since she was about a month old. She seems quite a relaxed youngster, no tears or strops! Her grandfather is from Peru which gives us lots of opportunities for Paddington Bear based gifts
Not sure she is ready for marmalade yet!!!
Today we went to see our other son who has recently adopted young French Bulldog called Archie! He seems to be making himself at home with the other two dogs. They are strange at that age as they have a lot of loose skin, I am sure he will grow into it!
Fortunately the antibiotics see to have stopped me coughing but they are also making me quite tired. As I have never taken much in the way of antibiotics in the past I don't know if this is a normal reaction?

I've just finished my antibiotics David, I think if you've been generally unwell it's difficult to say what is causing what but I hope they've worked for you and fingers crossed they've worked for me. I have to go to the dentist next weekend, just before we go away, I must say I felt quite poorly with my mouth hurting a lot but do feel better now. I'm hoping the dentist will sort something out so that we can go away for a few days but he will have to remove an old gold crown that hasn't been removed for years...
(so I'm a bit wary of a quick fix!)
I hope you fare better!
I was reading Helen's post because it sounds nice at the Bromyard site and we haven't yet tried a visit there but we've been to Brockhampton and it must be good to be so near to the estate.
Hope Pete starts to feel better over the coming week too.

Our last day at Goatfell Farm before heading off to Brid. The forecast was a bit dodgy so we set off early to do The Roches walk. If you've ever stayed at Blackshaw Moor you'll recognise them as the huge rocky outcrop you can see from the site. Quite a tough climb at first but well worth it for the spectacular views from the ridge. And the rain pretty much held off, just a couple of very light showers. Got back for lunch and then off to Leek to stock up and fill the car. The CL is full again now, 4 new vans today, a very popular little site and we've thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Brue, I'am sure you would like the Bromyard site, the gate at the top of the site gives access to the footpath to the road then the entrance to Brockhampton is opposite. The parkland is lovely for a walk, it's downhill to the moated old manor house but then uphill coming back.

Brue, I agree with H&T about the Bromyard site, but you may have to be quick to fit in a visit as it is threatened with closure. There's good walking on the Downs too, just along from the site, and a decent pub en route. There are bus stops right outside for both Worcester and Hereford, but they didn't allow dogs on the buses.
Glad that you had a good time there, Helen. It certainly keeps one fit walking back from Lower Brockhampton. Hope that your son get the house now.
M, Good to hear that the weather's kept fine for both the Charity and Roaches walk. The latter's not a place to get caught out on in heavy rain. Have a safe drive up to Brid.

Nellie, I'd forgotten about the threat of Bromyard closing
will have to plan another visit.

Did you by any chance ask the wardens if they knew anything about that?
0 -
No, only saw the warden when we arrived and the office was often closed when we walked past.
I did notice the site still has an old Caravan Club sign at the entrance, perhaps it isn't worth changing it to the new CAMC sign.

Maybe the wardens are just "stuck in the mud"s like myself.

Spent a very pleasant day wandering around Ynys Hir nature reserve, less than 1 mile from the CL. Always loved this reserve and whilst it has taken a bit of a battering from storms in recent years it is still a place of peace and calm. Wonderful for the soul, a bit like Brue's visit to her Garden today.
Never known a BH so quiet. Must have been a maximum of a dozen cars at its height today at the reserve and hardly anything on the roads.
The weather wasn't too bad, a bit chilly but spells of sunshine and a cool breeze.

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon at Deene Park today. It is a lovely house, a real family home lived in by the Brudenell family for 500 years and the present family were very much in evidence for a chat and information. After the house we had a good walk around the beautiful gardens and grounds. Such a lovely place.
Good to know that many of us had a good BH weekend and survived the vagaries of the good old British weather.

Another fan of Bromyard Downs here. Not certain, but I thought it was to close at end of this season. A great shame as it’s a lovely little site, and in a great location. A glance at bookings might give more information, see if it’s possible to been for 2020.
Edit: it’s possible to book in 2020, so let’s hope this is good news.

Arrived at Bridlington site just after midday having driven through a couple of torrential "showers" but, happily, managed to get set up in the dry although it's raining again now! The original plan was to stop at Poolsbrook for 1 night just to break the journey a bit but decided the weather forecast for tomorrow was so horrendous that it would be worth coming all the way in one go. Glad we did!
The site is very quiet at the moment - we're on the newer half and there are only about 10 units all together - a bit like a glorifIed CL really.
Think tomorrow will have to be a reading day, though it may be a bit drier in the afternoon.
