What are you all up to

Kjell, I suspect you are correct. All our family members who have regular visits from children and grandchildren, especially if they help care for them, much as you do, are very prone to lots of illnesses such as chest infections, upset stomachs. We on the other hand, who have little contact with youngsters actually go years without so much as a cold! All you can do is keep your flu vaccs etc.... up to date and hope not to get anything too nasty.
Weโre more likely to get Kennel Cough!๐ค๐พ๐พ๐พ๐พ

Best of luck to Oneputt and hope that this van treats you with respect!
When do you actually go TG? Presumably either tomorrow or Sunday. Bonne Route. or Gute Fahre.
Pity you weren't at BD last weekend Helen as we stopped off there en route home. Hope you enjoy the break.
Busy day again as 2 lots of shopping needed doing as we don't want to spend time shopping when we're away plus some stuff needed for MiL. Caravan packed. Food cooked. Sounds a lot like Tammy.

I'm about ready to have a sit down - supper made for friends coming over tonight and a couple of rooms dusted. I always reckon food is a higher priority than dusting.
I've put a few bottles of Gin on the sideboard so we can offer a welcoming drink.

Had a lazy day going from tearoom (breakfast) to pub (lunch) then err ... tearoom (scones). Did a longish walk alond the tweed in-between ๐
When the sun's out it is almost warm but without it cold. People sitting out on site now. But supposed to be near freezing overnight.

We had a cold grey, misty start to the day. The mist started clearing after breakfast so we drove to the National Trust Ilam Hall and walked from there. All was going well, sun came out, blue sky above, nice walk through woods with bluebells and wild garlic ..... then it came over all grey and within minutes it was chucking it down! Half way round, no hope of sheltering anywhere - the Great British Bank Holiday weather with a vengeance. Only lasted about 10 minutes - amazing how wet you can get in that short time!
Back now, dry and warm (ish). The CL is busy - 2 left this morning to be replaced by 2 newcomers.
Hopefully off to Carsington Water to get wet there tomorrow! Have a great weekend everyone , home or away.

One and All. Enjoy all your trips away or stay at home bank holiday, nice to read what's been happening. Hope the Kjs feel better soon. Haven't been doing much myself and not looking forward to my visit to the dentist next week! (I wonder why, perhaps Goldie's gins would help to ease my thoughts.
)
Strange weather here, very warm when the sun is out, then chilly dark skies and the odd roll of thunder. It's got to be better tomorrow I've got to stand outside helping with a plant sale for local funds...
Can't quite risk clearing the greenhouse out, all those baby plants need some shelter just now but some are going to have leave in the morning as I've grown quite a few for the sale.
OH is relaxing watching the snooker. ๐บ

Wow Goldie an interesting choice of gins there have a good evening.
Hope everybody enjoy their short or long breaks and weather improves, been chilly and cloudy here today after a lovely 1st May sat out in lovely warm sunshine hope it improves as we are away next week a few days near the Brenne area and then down to the Limousin area somewhere we have not been to before so looking forward to a change.

WN, we are off tomorrow late morning, just down to Penrith to a new to us CL, then onto Hull Sunday for the overnight sailing. Enjoy your trip hope things get sorted for your MIL.
Lasagne in the oven Mmmmm. Tomorrow night's tea
fridge now stocked, amazing what you can squeeze in the freezer.
We can take our time in the morning now, no rushing about getting into a flap. Just got the bikes to load and hitch up the van
Redkite, its not looking great for Wednesday/Thursdays/Friday according to the forecast I've seen, think we might be making a run for the med.

Have a wonderful tammygirl. Safe travels.

Have a good trip TG and Redkite. You'll both be getting away from this chill weather.
Hope that you are feeling a bit better, Kjell, and that you have a warmer day for your plant sale, brue.
Easy drive for us over to the Clachan site. Got one of the two pitches we hoped for, up at the top, so have both good TV and WiFi, including free connection to the club's web site. Managed a couple of mile walk after lunch, up behind the site, before a few sleet/rain showers. Rather chilly though with the temperature down below 8 C from 12 C when we set off this morning.

Hope the deal goes through, OP. Which model have you gone for?

Awoken to another chilly bright morning. We've hardly had enough rain in drops to fill a teaspoon! Well a teacup. I've some washing to do so expect that to change today, especially as the tumbler drier stopped turning on its last use! Upside is the garden is dry and nothing, including the grass, is growing in the usual spring like fashion.I hope those home and away have the weather they would choose to suit them.
Cleaner was a success, reflexology was wonderful. Nice to open the front door feeling relaxed as the cleaner was finishing and the house smelt clean and fresh ๐. Got to decide how often to use her services she's happy weekly fortnightly or monthly, so a few days to decide, I'm thinking weekly at least at first - hang the expense ๐๐.
Had a morning in town doing normal things on Friday, felt soooo normal. But came back to an answerphone message that burst my bubble! Able to sort but required prompt action in person my chasing to get things that should have been done arranged for OH again. ๐๐
OH is doing very well, was taken to the kitchen to make a cuppa etc yesterday, passed with flying colours ๐funny it didn't happen on first discharge ๐ค๐ข. His confusion hugely improved and seems it could be the way infection effects him now. Looking at discharge ๐. He needs a certain scan, which was talked about 10 days ago plus but not acted on! It's needed for an outpatient appointment Wednesday so I have a bargaining tool ๐๐. They assure me it will be undertaken. I managed to get appointment with 2 different consultants at Basildon Hospital on Wednesday and secure a lift to minimise parking stress!! So I'm not giving it up. If he's not out I've asked they get him there. Oh I'm getting stronger again ๐
Milliehull I'm glad you'll be getting away with your caravan regardless of the blemish ๐ looks are overrated ๐
Oneputt delighted to hear you've chosen a new van and will soon be in a position to continue your trips. Fingers crossed it'll all be wonderful.
Moulesy Tammygirl and all those away or travelling stay safe and enjoy.
Wherenext hope you get a few days away and MIL fairs well. Like others my mum, in her late 80's, doesn't question the doctor and I often get 'the look' for enquiring into the whys and wherefores! My father was similar despite him saying doctors 'buried their mistakes'. However my mother will voice a question after we've left that I hadn't thought of and I can't answer........
Helenandtrevor have a great time away, sorry that 4 letter word (work) is hindering you. How is daffy?
Have a great long weekend, especially if you're doing what you choose rather than what's necessary ๐. I love reading your posts and if I've not mentioned something about you're 'doings' no offence intended - the brain isn't quite as sharp as it was! ๐๐๐
I'm grateful to everyone for keeping us in their thoughts โบโบ

Its a VIP 520 model so same layout as the Lunar but looks a lot more sturdy, but time will tell.
B2 Good to hear that OH is progressing and that you are feeling a bit more chipper.
Yesterday was a wash out in terms of rain, the garden got a real soaking. All the cherry blossom got knock off the tree but on the plus side the wisteria is looking really good and nice to see the wren disappear through the flowers back to the nest. In the veg garden the broad beans & peas are making good progress.

Good to know things are looking up Bakers, "Daffy" is progressing although at the moment its looking a bit bare as everything that can be removed has been taken off ready for the re spray.
We travelled up to Bromyard yesterday afternoon, got a nice walk round Brockhampton before the rain came.
OH has been practicing his camera skills this morning photographing the Nuthatch on the bird feeder.
Oneputt really hope new van is an improvement on your last one.
Hope all away have a good time, its turned chilly here but at least the sun is shining.

Goldie......I had to enlarge your picture on my iPad to appreciate all the bottles.๐ Do I spy a Dam Raider at the back? I recently bought a blue coloured gin called Angles High. All related to the bomber command boys in the Lancasters.
Oneputt- I hope your new van is a success. We have a Coachman VIP 460/2 and would highly recommend the brand. When we bought ours, my sister and friends liked it so much, they changed over to Coachman when they were ready to buy again.
We're on a very blustery CL but the sun is shining. Going out for lunch at a local restaurant and then a lazy afternoon.........maybe with a small G&T. ๐ค

Yes, itโs a Dam Raider. My daughterโs fiancรฉ (rather obsessive about Bomber Command) gave me a small bottle, and itโs just the sort of Gin I like so I dug deepish and bought a proper sized one.
We've one bottle less now. I bought bottle of Arbike, and itโs either changed since the last one, or I ordered the wrong one. Itโs produced on a farm and has their own honey in it. I hate honey, so my friend who came round last night took it away.

Sitting outside the awning hear at Conkers CCC site. When the sun comes out between the clouds it's quite warm, although when the sun goes in the wind tends to rise a bit. Dont think I could sit without my pullover on though. Our little group of friends include 6 caravans and 2 tents. Fortunately one of our friends has a really large awning (with extensions), and we can just about squeeze everyone in for the evening get togethers. Not as warm as last year though.
Enjoy the bank holiday everyone.
David.

Finally sitting down after a hectic morning. Feeling a bit sad as well as angry. I was just too late to stop a Magpie taking a new Robin chick. I heard the Robin making a fuss and by the time I got to the window the ruddy Magpie was disappearing with its prey.
I know, it's natural selection etc. but...
All ready for the off, just 3 nights but funnily enough still excited. It's great isn't it?
Nice to hear from you Bakers and at least you're still in the ring fighting away. As you say, hang the expense, you're not paying site fees so it has to go somewhere.
All those away seem to be enjoying themselves. Carry on.

Tricky wishing you a speedy recovery, within the time limits and restrictions.
I do hope you've got someone who'll pamper you as well as fetch and carry. Hopefully you'll be fully recovered for the concorde meet IF you don't do anything silly! If you were closer I'm well trained at present ๐๐๐.
We've had one or 2 heavy showers but managed to take OH for a lovely walk through the hospital grounds including the woods and bluebells. Sadly the wind has removed all the blossom ๐ข. Hospital wheelchair wheels a tad mucky on our return ๐ฒ

Wimp!
When I had my hernia op I was back at school 2 weeks later and one of those that I was allowed off was Christmas week. I did have to forego the alcohol as well but as I was 5 I didn't mind so much.
. Best wishes for a speedier recovery.

Glorious blue skies today but a bitterly cold wind. We drove over to Carsington Water, parked in the village to avoid the outrageous charges at the visitor centre (
) and walked round the reservoir. Found a couple of sheltered spots to stop for a coffee break and picnic lunch. About 8 miles all told. Popped into the club site for a mooch around but decided it wasn't for us. Too enclosed by tall tree, not many sunny pitches and no real views of the water.
Back to discover Rovers won their last game of the season so all's well in the world!
Off to Matlock tomorrow for the Setter Rescue walk - Lady will be meeting up with her sister again.

Glad to hear that things are looking up for you in all aspects, B2. Fingers crossed that your OH has his scan and can get home soon.
OP, that's the model we like too, similar to the Madrid that we have at the moment. Best of luck with it.
The sleet that we had yesterday afternoon down on site must have fallen as snow up on the high tops as Ben Lawers, Ben Ghlas and Ben More were coated white. We had an 8 ml walk, with about 1000ft of ascent, through the forests on the opposite side of Loch Tay from the site today in fine but still cool weather.

Popped into , first thing, there is an excellent bakery, joined the long queue for bread pudding and a lardy cake needed as sustenance on our walk .
Found a great pair of walking trousers in a charity shop for princely sum of ยฃ2.50, bargain.
Walked down to Lower Brockhampton had a wander round the house and grounds then walked back via the parkland walk, I'd forgotten just how steep the walk back up is.
Did a shorter walk over the downs this afternoon, then sat outside the van in the sunshine watching the birds on our feeder.
Moulesy enjoy the Setter rescue walk tomorrow.
All the best Triky try and take things easy.
2 -
Best wishes to Pete, do as you're told!
Sounds like several of you are enjoying some nice breaks, I think we can feel the chill from those snowy mountain tops today Nellie. Stood outside most of the afternoon selling runner beans, broad beans, peas, pumpkins and all veg known to uk man...plant sale went well, should raise some funds for the village.
Day off tomorrow, OH goes fishing and just a few things for me to catch up on.
More snooker, all quiet on the home front just now.
Really pleased to hear you had a nice walk B2, do hope next week goes well.
2 -
Enjoy yourselves at Bromyard. Great wee site for getting out with the dog.
Hope that your recovery goes to plan Tricky. Just don't try and do too much too quickly.
Glad to hear that the plant sale went well, brue. Hope that the standing round in the cold hasn't had any detrimental effect.

Thanks Nellie, I've just realised I missed Bromyard out of my post oops
. Hope your scottish tour is going well .
Heard from eldest son, he and some of his work colleagues completed a tough mudder this afternoon , now tired but happy.
