Good to hear from you Bakers, glad that OH is starting to improve. I'm not surprised that you are feeling shattered, it does take it out of you, I only had it for a week when OH was ill and I know how tired I was, what you have had to endure over the last few months is much harder.

Started putting things back into the van today smile gave it a good clean inside first then a hoover. Tested the heating, hot water, pump and rest of electrics, all seem to be working fine (touch wood)

Went to see Mum this morning, not a good day she was agitated, new medication this week, not sure if its going to work.undecided I did manage to give her a hair cut though, she said it was fine (it wasn't) looks much better now.

Rain has finally stopped and it has been quite mild, no wind here for a change. Garden looking much fresher now but the grass is looking sorry for itself after the moss killer on it frown

brue, new puppy looks lovely, hope you get your toothache sorted tomorrow.

TTDA, our little dog (Tammy) also made it to her 17th year, we lost her over 10 years ago, still miss her cry

Same here Bakers2, the trouble with these things is that sometimes you get beyond sleep and your whole system needs a break. Hope you can find some time just to have a day time rest, I've found that good in the past, it can help to re set your body clock. Take care, hope your cleaner appears this coming week.

Hope your Mum is ok Tammygirl, not easy at the best of times.

These long lived dogs, we've never had one quite so old before, our bargain £20 pet has done well!

Bakers good to hear from you. I hope you can relax and sleep better soon.

Brue - the puppy looks georgous. Very nice colouring.

We went to a local dog agility event today. Warm coats and gloves needed. Our friends have a collie that they enter into a few classes. He did really well yesterday and got a first in class but today he wasn't listening to instructions and thought his way round the course was much better than the right way!

Bakers2, lovely to hear from you.  You have been in my thoughts all week.  I am pleased to hear that your OH is making improvement.  You must be feeling absolutely drained as you have been through such a lot in the past few months. I do hope you can get some help with all the form filling as it is such a daunting task.  Try to take care of yourself.  Very best wishes x.

Thanks Brue.  We've eventually cleaned the outside of the caravan this morning.  Conkers is less than half an hours drive from home and we are going with a number of other caravan friends.  Unfortunately, it's a little too close to home for us, for comfort!  Although I've cancelled Friday night practice at the Abbey, I'll still be going back to play on Sunday morning and will be doing two other practices too,,, laughing  Carol still has to babysit the grandchildren, but they are coming to the caravan for the day.  One of our other caravan friends is a local councillor, so he will be going back for various things, as it it elections on Thursday.  Our house is being taken over by our daughter and son-in-law.  They would have come with up but are still converting a van into a small campervan!!  You just couldn't make this lot up!!  laughinglaughinglaughing

    Busy day today.

Shopping for food, pick up prescriptions, library books returned, washed caravan, filled 2 Brown bins with garden refuse, helped neighbour who had a problem. And breathe.... (then start to cook dinner, which now needs some attention).

    Sounds like musical chairs, David.

Lovely sunny, warm day here so went to Carlton Marshes for a walk around.  Saw lots of wildlife including 3 cuckoos.  The additional 1000 acres of land they brought is coming along nicely and it will not only attract more wild life it will increase the walking distance considerably. 6 miles walked today will be interesting to see how much further it will be when the finish.

Lovely day here today once it got going.

More trips back and forth in and out the caravan putting more things away.  OH did a few jobs that I'd come up with wink

Managed a couple of hours this afternoon in the garden doing a bit of dead heading.

An hour spent at the sewing machine making some covers for the bikes and altering another pair of trousers.

Downloaded 3 ebooks to my tablet and set up a Spotify account for music.

Had a phone call from the care home Mum didn't have a good night, she had trouble breathing. They got the Dr in this morning, she has a chest infection. That would account for why she was agitated yesterday frown she is on a course of antibiotics so should be good again in a day or two.

I'm on anti-biotics too...hope your Mum improves TG. Looks like my toothache needs quite a bit of attention, so something to clear up what's going on under a crown and then some treatment when the flair up dies down.

Other than that, a nice day....wink

Glad to hear that your OH is slowly improving, B2. Hope that you are able to get some sleep this week.

Good to hear that you got home safely, WN and that MIL is feeling better.

We've moved up to Beecraigs CP at Linlithgow, as there are a number of locations used in Outlander that OH wishes to visit. This will be our dearest site this trip, but not by a lot, as there's a 4 nights for price of 3 offer on at the present. It's been about 10 yrs since we were last here and it's much more open than it was. We had an hour's walk around part of the Country Park this afternoon, & plenty more to go at.

Brue, I've thought of a few more sites that might suit you for touring the Solway coast. Partridge Cottage CL nr Dumfries I can recommend; there's another CL at Annan, Moss-side Farm that looks quiet with good views over the Solway, and just along from that is a CS, West Moss-side. There's also  a commercial site at Hoddom Castle that looks good, with numerous walks from it. It's not too far from either Annan or Ecclefechan.

    Hope this helps.

Nice and sunny here today.  After some discussion with DD at the weekend re our next project for her, we went to Ikea first thing, had breakfast there and bought some shelving for her, plus some bits and pieces.

She needs a tall piece of chipboard to make a divider in a cupboard, had hoped we might find a freebie at Ikea, but  no.  So tomorrow we need to go to B&Q to buy a board, she wants me to fit some shelves in part of a big cupboard.

We have almost a couple of months before we go away again to do some stuff for her, so she is looking at her list!

OH has been nagging me to help decide on sites for our June/July trip, so we have been looking at the thread TTDA started for us.

So far we have booked CAMC Garlieston, CCC Kendal, CL near Chester still to book, CCC Cardigan Bay, CL near Haverfordwest, CL in Cardiff, and possibly CCC Cannock Chase on the way back north....or another CL, things are taking shape.  Several  deposits paid, so hope  all goes go plan.

On track for averaging a bit under £20 per night!

Kjell, can recommend Belle Vue Farm, Guilden Sutton near Chester, or Digby Fm, Broughton. Either would do as both are close to the A55, although the former is a bit quieter. Looks like a good trip, we might be doing similar in Wales but not yet decided.

Had a lovely day in garden today. Bought some nice plants from Aldi, including a lovely clematis and some geraniums. Lots of pottering around, weeding. Found some lovely lightweight dining stuff in Aldi as well. Made from bamboo, but dishwasher safe, we are thinking of possibly using it in MH to save the lovely set you get with an AS. Plus it’s great for outside. £4.99 each for four plates, four bowls, four beaker/ mugs. Nice lemon based design.

Will bear those in mind if our chosen CL is booked up.  We are visiting friends west of Ruthin, fairly remote, and not many CLs in the area.  Have used the CL in Ruthin a few years back,  but access roads were not ideal for us.

Last year we used Crab Mill Farm not far from Broughton, which was good, so hoping to go there again.

It's always a bit like musical chairs here!!  😀😀  Keeping our fingers crossed for good weather at Conkers.  Busy day here getting ready...

High Onn is fairly close to Brewood where I go every Thursday night to take the Brewood Singers practice (apart from holidays!)

Thanks for the site ideas Nellie, I'll need to get a notebook soon to remember all the suggestions which appear on CT, very helpful. Hope you are enjoying your latest trip.

I was interested to read about your Thomas Carlyle visit as I have a book about the Carlyle's home life in London.

Glad to hear that you have some antibiotics for your tooth brue.  I hope the pain is subsiding. Sorry to hear your Mum is not well Tammygirl, I hope she gets better soon.

Enjoy Conkers DSB.  You sound a bit like us when we went to Ferry Meadows last month.  A bit to close to home really so we still fetched grandsons from school and kept up with various other commitments.  It is nice to be away though isn't it.

You sound as though you have been busy since you got home WN.  Another day of clearing out here yesterday.  We cleared the bathroom cupboards and threw out anything that was out of date and found some things we had forgotten we had.  Airing cupboard came next - I didn't realise I had so many pillowcases!! We finished the day with a trip to our local Sue Ryder shop. Luckily they were very grateful to have clean bedding so all the single bedding went to them as we don't have any single beds anymore. I am off out to have an early lunch with a friend today followed by an afternoon of Welcoming duty at the Cathedral. Have a good day everyone whether at home or away.

Millie, will you be going to the Longthorpe Tower to see the early Wall Paintings, a sort of Medevial Banksy?

The caravan/car jobs now finished so all we need to do is pack the things and we're off and away. Probably wait now until our schedule rolls around in 3 weeks time. Then again.undecided

I've often wondered what they do on those A frame conversions, HD. Is it a lot of work or quite straightforward?

Maybe one for Brue as she can't live far away but on our way down to Taunton on Sunday we noticed a large sculpture, seemingly made out of wicker very near to the large Morrisons depot. Can anyone enlighten me, thought it might have been another Anthony Gormley!

No David - it's called The Wicker Man - it's been there for some years now, been renovated at least once but the last I heard there was some doubt as to whether it would cost too much to renovate again, shame if it's not. It was designed by Serena de la Hoy. Much better looking than that ******** warehouse!

There was a report in the local press on April 1 last year (note the date) that plans were under way to construct a Wicker Woman right next to him for company! wink

Glad you spotted our local Wicker Man David, he's had a hard time of it over the years, wind, rain and crows all take a fancy to him. wink He used to look lovely all on his own but now is surrounded by developments. The person who made him and came up with the idea is Serena de la Hey. LINK

    Snap, Moulesy! laughing
