Not even BBC Wales? I see you won't be getting Rain Deprevation Syndrome. Hope you get a dry spell.

We had quite a bit of rain this morning so did some food shopping and waited until this afternoon before having a walk in the brisk fresh air. Just heard a Cuckoo.🐦

OH has had a frustrating afternoon trying to fix our petrol mower........for the umpteenth time. Enough is enough. Have ditched it in favour of a little Aldi special that is electric. We have reduced our lawn area anyway this year, so should do the job nicely. I had been using Dad’s old hover mower, but can’t get on with it like a push along. 😁

We just had enough rain to wash the dirt out of the atmosphere onto my recently cleaned MH.yell

Spent some of this week slaving with a needle and thread and have now finished modifying some curtains that I bought in the charity shop to go round the front of the cab in the hope of reducing the cold area at the front. Having hooked them up, I think I shall need a few bits of velcro to hold it all together to stop the draughts.

Catastrophe! Got home after enjoyable week end away and found the fridge had packed up

Swapped all food into caravan fridge which fortunately, we hadn't put away.

Seems odd cooking a meal with regular trips to the caravan on the front drive for various ingredients.

Hey ho!  Engineer on his way to fix it but hang on a moment - it had better not be the same guy who fixed the problem only two weeks ago.

Do you use Silver Screens at all CY? We find them excellent for both very cold and very hot. We also have a little oil filled radiator as well that sits in footwell on site during Winter. This is only thing we leave on in Winter, keeps MH at a comfy temperature overnight. Luckily ours came with curtains to draw fitted and they make things cosier as well.

The boiler installation goes on. The engineer arrived at 8.00am and left at 5.00pm. Good progress today, the boiler is actually fixed in its new location and pipework and venting complete except for gas supply. That is a job for tomorrow when they have to route the gas pipe partly around the building. The electrician was also here today doing all the boiler electrics and starting up Hive which controls everything wirelessly and apparently I can control the heating via my smart phone whilst I am away in the motorhome - that will be interesting! Whilst I find any work like this fascinating you do get weary of the lack of privacy!

A dry start to the day, in which we loaded clothes etc onto the van and replanted some sunflower plants, which we've grown from seeds collected at The Old Orchard last year. Has now been raining from about 6:00 tonight, which will do all the plants good. Just hope that it passes over before morning.

Hope you've packed some woolies NTH, its been cold today with a really chilly wind.

Went to Mum's care home today to do some more work on the Dementia garden, managed to get all the leaves cleared up. Its a court yard garden with only one point of access. I've half emptied out 3 of the big pots and put the soil into one of the 2 big raised beds.

The beds have no plants in them and the soil level is only about half way up, so its going to take a fair bit to bring them up to a good level.

A few of the big pots have shrubs in them, I'm going to transfer them to the raised beds as they need more room. I've got some hostas and grasses at home that I have lifted and divided so they can go into the big pots for now until I have more time to source some nice plants that will take care of themselves. It would appear that none of the staff know anything about gardening but they are willing to learn smile

The caretaker says he hates gardening so has given me free reign smile I'm not going to have enough time to do all that I would like with us going away.

Once we are back though the frosts will be over and summer plants will be available so I can finish it off then. I have got a few ideas on what I can do just need to run it by the manager.

Hope we do get rain tonight as I've got the weed and feed stuff spread on the grass at home but it needs to be watered in. Ground is very dry so the garden could do with a good soaking (never thought I'd be asking for rain)

Food shopping tomorrow then back to the care home in the afternoon as its Mum's 6 mth review.

With a bit of luck I'll be able to start sorting some clothes out for going away (if only I knew where we are going)laughing

TDA, I do have Silver Screens which I use outside the summer months. Even with the fold-down front it does make the cab seem a bit confined and gloomy, so I like to avoid using them during the warmer weather. It's the metal cab body that's acting like a heat sink particularly the doors which have virtually no insulation  when the weather is cooler that makes it noticeable.

Yes I know what you mean about confining. We tend to motor out most days, so ours come off completely and then on again at night. If you haven’t tried a little radiator (£20, Dunelm) we have found it very useful. Quite small as well so stows away neatly. OH likes to use cab seats when we are onsite, so it keeps him warm. Curtains are good idea as well though.

We had quite a cold spot in the cab area of our previous van conversion. Long curtains helped (we've never used screens) but the cold got in round the doors etc. As TDA suggests a small heater in that area can help. We had an extra socket put in our present van just in case.

Just waiting for fishing club committee members to arrive here (not usually held at home.) So will have to vacate my "pitch" and move somewhere quieter.

TG, it sounds like a good idea to help out in the garden area at your Mum's place, hope you are pleased with your efforts!

Rained quite heavily during the night and carried on for a while this morning so we went for a walk after lunch. Walked into Budleigh Salterton from Otterton, about 3 mikes each way. Never been before. It's a lovely little place by the sea with some handsome structures. We called in at the local museum, Fairlynch, as it is open in the afternoons only. Well worth a visit for such a small place. Some very old rocks etc., a potted history of local lad, Walter Ralegh, plus lots about the town. It's free but donations accepted.

Turned into a lovely afternoon. As we walked back alongside the River Otter we saw 4 Ducklings with mum.☺

Off on our way home tomorrow as MIL non too well and Mrs WN wants to accompany her to the doctors on Monday. We think it's the meds. So we've cancelled our last port of call and will stop off at Bromyard Downs for the 1 night (amazingly they had 1 pitch left). Really enjoyed the break.

Thanks brue, I'm getting there. Was at the home today for Mum's 6 mth review, everything going fine smile when out this morning I bought 3 trays of French Marigolds and a Clematis, after the review I popped into the garden and planted 2 of the 3 trays and the Clematissmile its looking brighter now and somewhere I think they will like to sit when the weather is fine.

Finally we have the rain, got up to bright sunshine this morning so I watered the grass where I'd put down feed/moss killer, I can't win at times.

WN hope MIL feels better soon.

We discovered Budleigh Salterton rather by chance, Sidmouth was packed so we headed here instead. Bonny little place. Enjoy Bromyard Downs, we like the dog walking on the heath over the road. Will be a real shame if this little site goes.

Mum day for me today, we just stayed local, then back to our house for tea.

Where did you stay when you went to Annecy? We might end up there in September. Fancy a bit of mountain walking as well up near Chamonix.

Must admit we've done a bit on this trip but this latest section has been good as we've not travelled more than 8 miles in any one direction and found loads to do. Years since we've been to this bit of Devon. We normally end up in the South Hams. Home for 3 weeks, although we may sneak away early then off again.smile

Well finally the new boiler is installed and up and running. I always thought I worked pretty hard but Luke, the engineer, worked solidly for two and half days poor chap. He has made a neat job of everything considering some of the constraints he was working under. There is a lot of cleaning to be done because of all the dust from drilling, we have made a start but there is more to do. Since the end of last week I have had a chesty cold and I suppose the dust has not helped.

Glad you hava got your new boiler installed David. It sounds like a big job.

Its been a funny day weatherwise. When the sun was out it was really warm but when it went in it was quite chilly. Lots of showers. Daughter's birthday today so we have had a lovely family evening at their house.

We always carry plenty of clothes, including fleeces, just in case, but it will be much warmer again in a few days, as it always is in Scotland at this time of the year.wink Well done for all the work you're doing in the Care Home garden. We've have had a few heavy showers this evening so they may well be on the way up to you before the morning.

Sorry to hear that MIL is not feeling too well, WN, and that you've had to cut short your trip. Hope that the doctor's able to sort out the problem.

We had a dry start to the day and we're able to get away as planned. Drove through a short shower but all was fine and arrived on site spot on noon. Only one other van on site so we had a good pick of pitches. Super views out towards the Solway Estuary and Criffel. Went for a walk through the wood above the site after lunch before the rain came. Had a few cracks of thunder and could see lightning flashing over the Lakeland Fells. Raining at present and just hope that it's stopped by morning.

WN, we stayed at  St Jorioz, Campsite Europa. It was a PH weekend so was busy with a lot of families, can't say they bothered us in any way. Fair few cabins and static caravans but there is also an area for touring vans. The cycle path (fully tarmac) was at the back of the site (private gate) went 9 km into Annecy or the other way right up to the end of the Lake. Across the road about 5 mins is the lake. The views of the mountains from the site was stunning as snow was still on the tops. Paragliders were jumping off and flying right over the lake and landing in a field just along from us. Would use this site again or there is another one just on your way into St Jorioz coming from Annecy called Le Solitaire du Lac, its not got the cabins and static or the big leisure pool so if you prefer something simpler it would also suit, we thought it was worth a visit especially at busier times. Also right onto the cycle pathway.

Another area we found last year (thinking of going back this time) was east of Aix-Les-Bains.  Massignieu-de-Rives, campsite Vivacamp Lac du Lit du Roi (Rhone Alps) lovely site, looking out over the small lake with the mountains behind the lake, all pitches face the lake hedges divide the pitches. There is a good cycle path right outside the site that goes for miles along the river one way and miles across country the other way. Lots of mountains to choose from and lots and lots of waterfalls (cascades) smile

Hope things aren't too bad when you get home WN. Good that you enjoyed your trip, E Devon has an interesting mix of places, nice to re-discover it.

Nellie, I'd be interested in the CL you're using just now, we want to see a bit more of the Solway Firth.

DavidK, hope you feel better soon (we are surrounded by people with chest infections here, hoping to avoid catching anything but really ought to go away to avoid that possibility!?)

Off out to hear a big band concert tonight, should be good, got to support the family trumpet player too. smile

We've had an interesting few days.  Couldn't afford the time to go for a longer stint, but we hired a cottage for 3 night on the Outer Hebrides, Island of Lewis.

Our daughter and S-in-L have recently bought a 2nd property on the Island and are renovating it - so we thought we'd go up and have a look.  Drove 570 miles back yesterday- arrived home at 2.30am!!

If you haven't been, it's certainly worth a visit, but it's a long way to go for 3 nights!  Beaches are wonderful - landscape tends to be a bit 'grey/brown' in places.  We had a great time in spite of being a little tired today....  smile

Sounds very interesting DSB, and quite a way for a weekend!

Glad to hear Nellie is off safely again, sounds a nice tour, lots to see and do.

Hope those not feeling too good mend up quickly. We are wrapping Mum in cotton wool here, we have two holidays with her booked, so need her on top form.

All garden based activities on hold here at moment, it’s raining. I am only pottering doing a few little tidy jobs. OH is making parsnip soup, dog is fast asleep, and Inam chilling with some Jean Michel Jarre.
