That van of yours has been a true shocker OP, I so hope your next one gives nothing like as much grief.

I had a lovely afternoon out with Mum and little Sis yesterday, we decided to have a drive around some of the lovely countryside around us, did one of Dad’s favourite rides, area know as Strines that takes in Derwent Valley, Ladybower and we drove all way across to Hope Valley. Saw lots of outfits possibly heading to Castleton Site. Weather and scenery were glorious. We ended drive with a nice meal at Fox House pub, near Longshaw Estate, then avoided Sheffield to get home. A really nice afternoon.....

Bakers, you have reminded me I need to renew Mum’s Blue Badge in next few months. They had me in tears at our local council last time I did this for both Mum and Dad, the bureaucracy was astounding. Having a bit of help around house would be good for you at moment, then you can make the most of your time together. We are fortunate with our hospitals, but all the appointments, follow ups etc..... mean you get to plan little while they are ongoing.

Best wishes to others, for a nice Easter. It will be garden for us mainly, with a nice meal on Sunday with Mum and Sis.

At last we have some warmer weather smile jobs can get done outside without the need for Arctic clothes laughing

Not that anything will be done outside today as we are about to get all our family together under on roof for the first time in 7+ years.laughingyoungest son and his family have been up north of Scotland all week and calling in for the night on their way back home South to Yorkshire.

Eldest son and family arrived overnight for the weekend from Wiltshire, later on today they will all be here with us. One of these days they will give us more than a few hours notice surprised

Thankfully eldest son and family are staying with his in laws, I don't think I could cope with them all here. Feeding them is hard enough as they all have different tastes, still must not complain it could well be another 7 years before we are all together again.

Must pop off now and get a few things done.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter.smile

Tammygirl how wonderful. Enjoy. Precious times.

Sitting/lying in the garden in glorious sunshine trying hard to relax body doing OK but brain having trouble 😂😂.  Did lose myself for 30 minutes or so.

We checked out the motorhome this morning, wanted to turn the wheels if nothing more. Sadly engine battery turned over but not enough to fire engine up 😢. Not that will be using it any time soon 😢 MOT needed etc have to call on mechanic friend in a few weeks for a bit of assistance that's already been offered.

Called in on my mum on the way home she managed  to bend he foot right back getting out of a chair a couple of weeks ago, tearing tendons etc,  swelling is going down now and she says walking is 'easier" she tired driving 😲and made it a little worse! She does well for nearly 89 living alone.

Enjoy the Easter break however you spend it

After attending the Churches Together Good Friday service in the village precinct, I returned home and, together with OH emptied out the MH ready for its service & 1st MOT in twelve days time. Can't believe the amount of stuff we have accumulated since carrying out this exercise a year ago. Why would we want 87 packs of wet wipes? Well, it seemed that many.

After 5 nights at Fernlea CL near Errol, which is excellent BTW, and being treated to coffee and  a good natter  by TG and her OH, we are now at Monturpie CL in Fife.

Having booked on the basis of the details in the handbook (WC and serviced pitches) we were somewhat disappointed to find it has neither, but at £12 we decided to stay anyway, especially  as there are few sites in the area.

However, the rather nice outlook has now been ruined by the arrival of what looks like about 30 vans on the rally field directly in front of the CL.

We stopped here to visit old friends and explore the East Neuk, but had we been real tourists, we would be rather miffed I think!  We used to live in Fife way back, and visit frequently, hence not considering ourselves real tourists.

Weather today has been lovely, hoping for similar tomorrow.  Heading home on Sunday.

W - if you spot this - where are you staying in Tavistock? We're looking for somewhere in that area for a charity event in September.  At the moment the C&CC site is top choice but wonder if you've got an alternative recommendation? smile

Sorry to hear of your troubles with your caravan, OP. Hope that you are able to get rid of it easily and find a van that suits you. Guess that it won't be a Lunar!!

Glad that you are able to take things a bit easier now B2, and hope that you are able to get the help you need quickly.

Good to hear that you've had a good trip and are now back home millie. Suspect that you will be heading off in the van shortly....FM or Houghton Mill?wink

Sounds like a busy time with your family, TG. Enjoy their visit.

H&T have a good trip, the weather looks as if it could get even better so you've picked the right time to get away.

Everybody that's out over the Easter period hope you all have trouble-free time.

Glad that you enjoyed your stop at Fernlea, Kjell. Hope that you said Hi to David for us. Sorry that you are disappointed with Monturpie, though. I must admit that I'd not noticed that the SD referred to WC & Serviced pitches, but the latter are not mentioned on the web site. I did say in my review that there was a rally field and that those interested in staying should ask when booking if there was a rally planned for the time of their stay. There was one on the last time we were they but apart from the vans we didn't notice any excessive noise or rowdiness. Have a safe trip home on Sunday.

M, WN was staying at Ashbury Caravan Park CL (No.443 in Site Directory) at Oakhampton when they cycled from Tavistock. It would suit you as it has both a toilet and shower. I can recommend it as a grand site.

Sorry, M, didn't get on CT last night. Nellie has answered for me. Nice owners as well.

Had the bikes out yesterday. Do you know, there was an awful lot of people with the same idea! What nerve.smile

Cycled alongside the Exe from Exmouth to Topsham where Mrs WN deceided she wanted to stop and draw a Lock house on the opposite side of the river so we tarried there.

Off on a walk after coffee to Branscombe and along the cliffs. About 8 miles so might be time for a quiter day tomorrow.

Enjoy your day folks whatever you are up to.

Another positive vote foe Ashbury CL. We only used it for one night, but it is a very nice CL, in a good location.

Booked a cottage in Wales yesterday for holiday with Mum. Area we don’t know that well, but we have done a lot of research and it looks really nice, with good transport links, plenty to see and do. Short walk to beach as well, so pooch will be beside himself with joy.

Yes, read your review so knew about the rally field.  Apart from actually seeing there are vans on it, you would not know as there is no noise at all, so a very well behaved group......SCC Fife and Tayside according to the signs.

We did wonder at the difference in description between book and Club website , both turned out to be incorrect, but for £12 not a problem.  We did say to the lady that booked us in that the descriptions were incorrect, which she seemed unaware of.

The Club website still had the site marked as temporarily closed awaiting certificate when we arrived.  Seems a popular site as there have been at least 4 vans here all the time, the commercial site looks busy too.

Hope it's not too busy at Branscombe. Yesterday we went to Lyme Regis and it was "full" at 10am, we turned round and went home. Nice to see the sea, briefly! I expect a coastal walk will keep you away from the sunshine crowds down here just now.

Going to hear daughter play here fiddle on a farm today, local Easter festival. Yesterday it was 24C so think it might be hotter today.

It’s a very busy coast that one brue. We intended visiting Sidmouth (mainly for Donkey Sanctuary) but gave up when we saw the crowds. Had similar queuing in traffic to get to Torbay coast as well. Again we gave up and went swimming in the Dart instead! Hoping to get cottage on Dartmoor again this Summer, it’s idyllic and unspoilt where we stay. Busy day if the farm pooch pays a visit!

Glorious again here, let’s hope we have another Summer like last year.

    😁

Peace and quite rains once again laughing all fed and watered, (several times) they have now gone on their separate ways.

Lots of talking laughing going on last night/evening, brothers not physically seen each other for 7 years, nice to see them once again laughing and joking, they always did get on very well when they were younger.

The 4 Gkids got on too, had great fun playing outside, even the now grown up 12 year old joined in the games smile once to dark to be out the boys were on their computer games challenging each other (only 6 mths between them) the girls were of course sat with granny talking non stop laughing hope its not another 7 years until we all get together again.

Whatever you are doing this weekend I hope you enjoy it as much as we have so far. Take car if you are on the roads.

The two boys came across today to help me remove the worktop, OK I was supervising! I remember it as being very heavy when I first installed but they made light work of moving it into the conservatory which now looks like a bit of a dump! We also removed a base cupboard which was easy once we realised it was screwed to the wall!!! I have checked the loft. So I now think I have done as much as I can before British Gas arrive on Tuesday to start work. Beautiful day here in MK as it seems to be right across the country, hope everyone is enjoying themselves.

That sounds like a great get together TG, we hardly ever get our lot together except for family events like weddings etc but it's difficult if you're all spread out over the country isn't it?

We've been out to a nice event, heard our daughter play some "cow-punk" music but it was very warm so we've come home to do a few garden jobs, take visiting dog out and generally have a break ourselves now. smile

We (well, my husband) have cleaned all the winter gunk of the caravan and it looks good enough to tow behind our new car. We've had a lot of trouble with the caravan lights. We had to get a 13 pin to 7 pin (?) converter (it's oldish) and thought that would be it - but despite in depth investigation and much muttering the brake lights refuse to work. All the others are OK. As time is running out (we're away on Wednesday) we've bought a trailer board (apparantly we needed one for some reason or other anyway) and we will fasten it on to the caravan handles and thread though windows (I think).

Meanwhile, I've been getting dinner ready for tomorrow. Despite the heat  I'm sticking to my plan and cooking a turkey - with most of the trimmings. No Christmas Pudding though (Pavlova and Chocolate Mousse instead).

No I meant "full" as in grossly overcrowded, queues for everything, yes all the car parks full too and we don't use the P&R as we're fairly local and come in on a back route.

We don't usually attempt a visit at busy times but we thought we might get away with it if we got there early. Everyone must have had the same idea. I love Lyme, so I'll be back at a more sensible time of the year, like the photo, when it's quieter. smile

Yeah, can be very busy. We were there some years ago, and as it happens there was a thing going on, on the beach. There were some bands playing, and there was an attempt on the world record for the most guitars playing at the same time. The place was stuffed, and parking was out of the question, but the park n ride was easy. Dunno if the record was broken, but a great day out.

Whoopee, Dartmoor cottage booked!😁 we haven’t been for a couple of years, and it’s a place we love exploring. Also booked a short break for Mum and Sis in a gorgeous self catering unit, located next to a lovely CL, so that’s another break taken care of nicely.

Had a productive day in kitchen as well, home made Gingerbread Ice Cream for tomorrow’s dessert, and a nice home made lasagne for tonight. OH has washed and polished Jeep one, and the MG came out for a cough and splutter on drive and a wash. Nothing done in garden except sit on swing and look at it! Which was rather nice for a change.

On a sad note, we picked our beloved Millie’s ashes up today. Still hard to believe she has gone😢

Well that was a wonderful day, the sort we got into caravanning for.smile A day spent walking along our beautiful coast paths then into a picture postcard Devon village with a lovely pub, where we had a refreshing half pint of Pear Cider, before walking back on said coast path. We avoided the crowds in Branscombe as we were there for 12 and escaped just in time. The church in Branscombe is lovely.

Called in at Waitrose in Sidmouth as we were passing as we suddenly realised we didn't have any food for next 3 days.surprised

MrsWN washed the clothes in our machine and after a shower we're sitting down enjoying a lovely sunset. Sounds like everyone on here has had a decent day.

If I went home tomorrow I'd still be a happy bunny.🐰🐰 (Easter one, of course).

Lovely day here to, not full on blue skies we had a bit of haze. Nice and warm though and once I'd got the beds stripped and in the washing machine I spent the rest of the day in the garden.

Now feeling shattered as I scarified the whole of the back garden grass.  OH has bought himself a new pressure washer, so once again he climbed his ladder and had a go at washing the roof solar panels. they are all now shiny clean. After that he then washed the caravan (not with the pressure washer)

Both feeling pleased with ourselves even if we are shattered.

WN you sound like you had a lovely day.

Brue it was lovely to have us all together. Glad you managed to see your daughter perform.

There is a large car park on the outskirts which I think also allows overnighting. Whatever you do, do not attempt to take your MH into the village itself.

There are numerous camp sites in the area. Check out UK Campsite for details.

There is a large car park just before you get into the village proper, possibly need to do some research to see if it can accommodate MHs. Some of the roads down that area are quite narrow, so only you can decide if it’s doable depending on what size your MH is, how wide. We got our 5.5m MH down past Mevagissay and on down to Caerhays, but it was tight down there. Heligan isn’t that far from Mev and large coaches get into there, so perhaps use Google Earth beyond that point? There’s a nice looking Campsite at Heligan as well, lots more in area, take a look on UKcampsites. If you are going in school holidays, you’ll need to be in car park by 9am. The whole road network is rammed solid at that time of year.

Edit: apologies Tinny, great minds think alike!😁
