A wonderful route chock full of castles, houses, battlefields etc.... down A49/A40. You could use Bromyard Downs, a Hucks Barn CL in Ludlow, Ludlow Site itself, Hereford Site. If you are feeling really flush, there’s always Love2Stay. We have done a few tours round this area, there’s just so much to see. Monmouth has a great museum dedicated to Nelson memorabilia.👍

Well the warmer weather hasn't arrived here yet
went into town this morning flipping freezing it was, even though I'd got my winter jacket on.
Bought 2 new T shirts for me and a pair of jeans for OH didn't see the trousers that I was after, they all seemed to be either jeggings, skinnies, or super skinny. I just want straight legged chinos
Yesterday I spent going through the wardrobes getting rid of clothes that we don't wear or like (they all fit) big bag going to charity shop next trip into town.
OH decided to advertise our old folding ebikes today, they sold within an hour
yippee more spends
The sky is very grey looks like snow

I will file that one for future use M, thank you.
😡 Getting annoyed....... GoT8 is on iTunes in USA and Germany, but not yet available in UK. I can actually buy it from the German iTunes Store, in English, so what is going on I do not know. Had fun changing back from German iTunes Store back to UK Store as well........ Sometimes technology really winds me up........

Good thinking, I was heading for something similar. Oneputt's recent visit to Powys was another possible, we had friends in Welshpool years ago but never got to the castle. Then we can continue down on a quieter route. Thanks for the other suggestions from TDA and Moulesy too. We're going up via Hereford, an unusual trip weaving in and out of places north and south, trying to fit gardens and historic sites in en route etc. By the way, keep this quiet, I haven't told Mr Brue yet but the mention of some fishing will keep him happy....

Can highly recommend Stokesey Castle and Ludlow Castle. Church in Ludlow is fabulous, better than one or two Abbeys we have visited. Original misericords and carvings.

If you choose that way brue we can recommend a few good CLs along the way back South. Just give either WN or myself a shout.

Sorry brue, see that there's advice galore coming from all quarters. Still there's a few others the rest haven't mentioned that are definitely worth a visit.

Thanks all for trip advice, I got two trips muddled the Hereford bit is later in the year but the Wirral one still has the empty spaces to fill! I can't book CLs till later so will ask for help nearer the time.
Up early today, misty start due to weather warming up, hope all those away enjoy the sunshine when it arrives, looks like a good Easter break for some.

Enjoyed an energetic cycle ride from Tavistock down to Saltram House near Plymouth. Nobody told me it was all uphill on the way back. Too stupid to have worked that one out myself. Anyway, back at the van we loaded the car ready for our change of CL tomorrow.
Now pooped but have a glass of Red in front of me to help keep me awake.
Edit - Forgot to mention that we passed the Peregrine Protection area in Plym Woods. Volunteers were there when we passed so we stopped and they kindly let us see both the Female, stunning, rearranging herself after cleaning and the Male sitting on the nest. Looking down we also saw a Kingfisher on the pond and a Dipper on the river so very lucky stopover.

Tavistock is up on Dartmoor and Saltram is down by the river Plym. It’s around 15 miles by road between the two. Rather you than me, WN.😀

Working at home catching up with a few jobs today & tomorrow,Grrr, the boatyard has to look after itself now & then !!

Today was the first warm day we've had since we came home. We've managed to get a few jobs done in the garden, and the car cleaned. All that's left to do now is clean the caravan outside and polish it inside. Have to move it out onto the road and up the street, as next door are having a new roof laid on their dormer and I don't want resin blowing onto the van. Visited 3 Mobile shop and have got a new sim only contract with unlimited wifi, phone and text for £20 pm. I do want to run it on a spare Samsung A3 but am having trouble getting it unlocked from Vodefone to which it was tied when in use, so at the moment I'm just using it with my MiFi.

Glorious spring day here, currently 17.6c in the shade.
Settling back down to earth after the wedding. Enjoying the grand dog, few minutes of me time 😃. We've enjoyed early walks, well by my normal standards!, yesterday in he mist around 0730, on the local estate. There's nothing like spring in England.
I'm looking to employ a cleaner, haven't had time or energy to do housework since OH came home. Could use a gardener too, friends have cut the grass but the soil could do with a tickle. We are generally a perennial garden so hopefully dead heading and pulling up of forget me nots, they are making a glorious show, should be sufficient. OH not sleeping as much and hopefully will be up for some pottering very soon.
Early discharge support, came yesterday - 2 weeks AFTER discharge. Was a bit sarcastic when the chap phoned, wanted to come that day within the hour! At 1030. I scooted about to be showered and ready and re-thought my day! He was full of apologises for being 1/2 hour late because of traffic. Very nice chap think he'll be just what OH needs. He's impressed with how well he's doing but needs to be more active 😉.
I'm trying very hard to coordinate hospital appointments, district nurse, phlebotomy visits, dental work, he had a bridge come out before so that needed to be put back, fortunately he had that. But we assume intubation caused a crown to come out, a large filing to be dislodged and one of his own teeth to come out the latter whilst eating scrambled eggs! Parking at the hospital is crazy so scrounging lifts where we can. Friend took us to local hospital and insisted on waiting - 3 hours! Not sure how to sort Basildon ones hopefully folks will give lifts but it's a big ask and a large chunk out of their day, at least with local hospital it is possible to return home but does double the journey. Cant say basildon holds much by way of sitesto visit etc 😉. Centres of excellence, if that's what hey want to call them, are great but a logistical nightmare for appointments.
Friend coming this afternoon to help with an financial help, bluebadge etc not to mention DVLA that I haven't tackled yet. Well son and I tried DVLA website all was appearing to be going well but get to the end and it tells you you need to print and fill out forms!!
It certainly isn't easy and the lack of any 'offical' support to sort or point you in the direction of paperwork is conspicuous by its absence! And I say that as an admin queen!
Enough whinging the washing machine has finished and I'm off to enjoy sitting in the garden for lunch and to recharge my batteries!
Enjoy your day folks however you're spending it.

Nice to catch up with you B2, a lot for you to do and I hope things gradually sort out. I'm sure a bit of help in the garden will ease your mind plus some cleaning help too, you've got enough to think about! At least you have the best part of the year to look forward to now and you can both go outside and enjoy the fresh air. Good luck with the DVLA forms, another pair of eyes and hands will be good at sorting something I'm sure.
I'm waiting for someone to come round, an exchange of plants in the offing. It's very warm and very pleasant so I've been outside for a few hours.
Hope all of you have a great Easter weekend, wherever you are or whatever you are doing! 🍹🍺☕

A new beginning here today - a new worker (after our previous one left after 47 years - no staying power). I've given him a map with field names, so he doesn't get lost when someone tells to go down to The Teapot Field etc.
Dinner today was for six (grandsons off school, but their mother (a teacher) is back at work after two weeks off - school holidays are weird round here this year.
And tonight there'll be nine for supper as my daughter, grandson and her fiancee are coming up for one night - using us as an hotel on their way to a football match at Carlisle tomorrow.
So, it's back to the kitchen and getting on with stuff.

I feel a little rude posting this after reading the previous few posts of everybody's hard work........what have I done today?....not a lot! OH had to pop into work for a few hours so I have sat outside the caravan with my book in the sunshine. 😳 Happy Easter to you all. 🍷🍺

After yesterday’s mist and fog it’s been a lovely warm day here which was nice as we’ve had the grandtwins all day.
Had the caravan serviced today absolute disaster. I had the a local mobile guy do it and the list of things to rectify is unbelievable. Amongst the things wrong is the floor is shot, there is 90% damp in a couple of places, front windows are warped etc. I have now booked it in for service with the dealer but won’t show them the service report I already have. Will get shot of the van ASAP after the dealer has seen it

Blimey, Oneputt. Is this the same Lunar that supposedly had the delaminated floor replaced? You've had nothing but trouble with that van. Best get rid. Try to shame the dealer into a decent offer.
Moved across to the East side of Devon today. Lovely CL but nearly sprained my wrist getting pegs for awning in the ground. Hardcore? More like concrete. Had an afternoon stroll around Aylesbeare RSPB reserve.
Decided we needed some vittels we couldn't find these last few days so drove to Ottery St.Mary and Sainsburys. Big, big mistake. Road near town closed. Diversions. Yes, you've guessed. Devon lanes!!! Where the locals drive like lunatics and there's nowhere to avoid them. Next time we turn around and starve!

Lovely to hear from you Bakers2. I had hoped that you would be having a lovely relaxing time and getting back to 'normal life' but it sounds as though your problems are continuing . I am so sorry. It all sounds so stressful for you. Help with cleaning and gardening sounds a really good idea. I do hope that everything works out you for you soon. Best of luck with the DVLA. Lovely to hear that you are enjoying having your grand dog with you and can enjoy your garden in this lovely weather though.
So sorry to hear about your caravan OP. I seem to remember that you bought it new not so many years ago but that you have already had trouble with it. It sounds a good idea to get rid of it and start afresh. Good luck.
We are now back from N. Ireland. It has been a busy few days since we got back. The Cathedral was really busy when I was on duty. Lots of children's activities and also many people coming in because of what has happened at Notre Dame. Some to light candles and some to just talk about it and be thankful that our fire in 2001 didn't have quite the same catastrophic consequences. We were very lucky.
As the weather was so beautiful today we decided to give ourselves a day off and took off to Grimsthorpe Castle for the day. We had a lovely wander round the gardens and then looked round the Castle which is full of history. Some of it remodelled by Vanbrugh and some updating as a consequence of American marriages! A really good day. We will hopefully spend the day catching up in the garden tomorrow as we have been to a garden centre and spent our garden vouchers that we were given for given for Christmas by some very generous friends so lots to do.
Hope everyone has a good Easter.

OP bad news about the caravan. I had four Swift family caravans over a 20 odd year period and they all proved pretty reliable but I was aware that many others were not so lucky. Our first Bailey motorhome had a couple of issues with damp which were repaired by the dealer and I was glad it had a six year water ingress warranty which could have been extended to ten years had we kept the van longer. So I assume the search is on for a replacement?
B2 I am sure things will start to settle down and things will sort themselves out eventually. The trouble at the moment is there is so much going on and it will be difficult to see the wood from the trees. Just a tip about the DVLA, also keep a copy of any driving licence you send to them, just to prove previous entitlement just in case it's needed.
It's been a bit of a charity day for for us today. Because BG are coming next week to change the central heating boiler we have been force to sort out the airing cupboard which has become storage place for old towels and bedding. It seems a shame to throw things away. In CMK there is a double decker bus which is used and a temporary night shelter for homeless people. It's a sort of halfway house before permanent accommodation is found. Even when it is they start with nothing so our old towels were gratefully received. Most supermarkets have a box for the local food bank, and Waitrose is no different. Every so often we fill a bag as we do our weekly shop and as we had not done it for a while we decided to do it today. Not always easy to decided what to buy but having heard a comment on TV we now always include some personal care items as well as some long lasting food items. I can't imagine what it is like to be homeless so even the smallest of small contributions I am sure will help.
