We got home early afternoon from aa nice weekend at Ayr Craigie Gardens site. The site was very busy as te. scottish Grand National was on yesterday at Ayr Race course. Lots of people on site attending the races yesterday as it is only a 5 min walk to the race course. Nice easy half hour drive home today. Caravan parked on its space on the drive unfortunately we won't be away in it again until the middle of May due to family commitments.

Great news B2 that you both had a nice day at the. Wedding you both deserved it.

Pleased to hear the all went well with the wedding, Best Wishes to the happy couple. smile

Glad you both enjoyed your trips Oneputt & Francis, I am looking forward to a break at the weekend .

Been a quiet day today , bit of housework,  trip out for a look  round garden centre  and shops then home and tackled the ironing. Been very cold here too,  lovely sunshine this morning but cloudy now.

I am so pleased you and your OH got to the wedding Bakers2. It sounds such a wonderful occasion. You must have been so pleased and proud. Your OH did well lasting until 9.00pm. Your son and now DIL must have been so pleased to have you both there. I had to laugh at the groomsmen trying to get into the door with the wrong key 😂. How lovely that you are going to have your grand dog with you. You will enjoy her company and the weather forecast says it is going to get warmer as the week goes on so.hopefully you can all enjoy your garden. Life is looking good  for you.😊

We went to see Tim Peake's space craft again today, this time in Belfast with our grandchildren over here. It was great to show it to them but must admit Peterborough Cathedral was a far better venue for it than the Ulster Transport Museum. Later we went to the Ulster Folk Museum which was excellent. Extremely cold here but not as windy as yesterday thank goodness.

Good to hear what you've all been doing, it's been so cold here! But we got up early and had a walk around the grounds at Montacute House, lots of bright tulips. I am looking forward to next week as there seems to be a dramatic rise in the temperature, might be able to do a bit more outside and feel a lot warmer!

Still bitterly cold wind here. Went for a brisk, no stopping walk after lunch, developing "Cold Man's Nose" en route.

The sun is shining on Dartmoor and we were lookjng at it when the 6 sheep in the field in front of us (Lleyn by the look of them) decided to have a race down to the fence at the bottom, about 150 yards or so. They slowed to a walk, turned around and then raced back up. Mrs WN and I decided to have side bets but she cheated as you can't tell one from the other at this distance. smile The sheep did this about 6 times then decided that that was enough fun for the day and found the grass very interesting.

It's always a joy and a learning experience being away in the 'van.laughing

Wonder if they're the same sheep that were there last year, WN. A lady, on a mobliity scooter, came a couple of times with a young sheepdog which she was training on that field, rounding up the sheep.

Good idea getting the awning down before the winds came, as you'd be very exposed to an Easterly. Although it blew when we visited it was from the West so we were sheltered by the hedge.

Enjoy the rest of your stay there. When do you move on?

Very pleased to hear that your day went well, B2. It must have been a relief that your OH managed to get to the ceremony. Time for a rest now and to get back to some sort of normality.

Cold again today and not as sunny as yesterday. I've spent the weekend laying flagstones in the back garden. Feeling the aches now with all the digging out of inches deep, long laid, chippings and the humping of the large flags, but most of the work done now.

Glad to hear that those that have travelled home from their trips a way are back safe and sound.

Reading your post Millie, you seem to be having a great time over there in NI.

We move on Thursday to the other side of Exeter.

Weather still very windy. Just stepped outside to do the normal jobs and couldn't find the step! Now pegged down! Somebody just left the site towing a smallish caravan. There are 40-50 mph gusts locally and all routes around here are a bit exposed. I personally would wait until tomorrow as the wind dies down tonight.

May not get up Yes Tor as we've biking to do. Still, a reason for coming back.

Off to get some shopping in, have a look at Okehampton castle and maybe take ourselves off this afternoon to Drogo Castle and Fingles Bridge.

Just got back from weekend in Bournemouth (hotel not motorhome for a change) to celebrate my youngest son's 40th birthday. He was about ten weeks old when we moved to MK! A lot of the relations live down that way so an easier journey for them if not for us! Had a rather lovely meal at the Brasserie Blanc in the Marriott Hotel with lovely sea views although a bit too chilly to sit on the Terrace!!!

B2 good to hear that things, at long last, seem to be returning to a degree of normality for you and you husband.

    David

We did get to Drogo this afternoon. Had a nice easy walk down to the Fingle Inn. Had to have a glass of Devon Mist cloudy cider. Lovely. The walk helped clear the head, either that or the cider.

Tragic breaking news, Norte Dame Cathedral is ablaze. Hope they can save most of it like they did with York Minster and Windsor Castle.

We like Drogo, very interesting interiors and gardens. Last time we were there, it wasn’t fully open inside, but they did have a very interesting exhibition of tapestries, including a modern one by Grayson Perry. We have been swimming as well in the past down at Fingle Bridge.....bit too cold methinks today!

Nice afternoon in garden for me and dog, while OH punished his body on a bike ride. Hope it warms up a bit soon.😀

It will be raining at the moment as we've got some which has found its way over from Cornwall.

Hope the Hunchback got out of the cathedral, but, yes, I agree it's a crying shame. Such a wonderful building and such history.

Glad that you got out to Drogo. Was the scaffolding still up, as it was when we were there last year? It is a nice easy walk down to the the Inn, it's the walk back up that gets the blood pumping.wink

    Hope that the winds have died down somewhat & the rains stops and doesn't disturb your beauty sleep tonight. Have a safe journey down to Exeter on Thursday;

I see there is a thread about Notre dame now, but it was a shock to see it.

Hope the next part of the trip goes well WN.

Plenty of overnight rain must have dampened things down in the SW.

Hmm, I've spent nearly a whole morning on line looking at various sites to stay on in June (to complete a uk tour) still can't find what I might like! I'm stuck on the virtual Wirral at the moment but want to find a "different" route home! wink

Got this today I assume/know it's a scam? Why would the tax people know about council tax?

Just in case others get it

Corners, first pass it looks like a scam.  During the many years I’ve been paying I’ve never overpaid or been due a refund.  Surely if you’ve overpaid they would be able to tell you the amount and if you pay by DD  they can just return it to your bank account.

Went to Winterton on Sea this morning to try and spot a Hoopoe that’s been there for 2 weeks.  Typically no sign of it but an enjoyable walk.  Arrived home and cleaned both cars.  Now trying to decide where to go for our summer break, do we turn right or left when we get to the Hook of Holland 🌞🌷

HMRC is rife with scams at the moment, as is TV licensing.

Dog has been for a swim today, sooner him than me, but he seemed to enjoy it! Car now stinks like swamp, but we love him. Curled up tight now, with a “please light the stove” look on his face. 🙄

I assume you will be at the club site at Thurstaston. If you're after inspiration for the route home why not try taking the A49 down through Shropshire and down to Monmouth or Ross on Wye? Plenty of nice stopping off points en route with loads of Welsh/English history.

Yes the scaffolding was still up. Mrs WN reckons it's the same one that we saw when last there, 35 years ago!smile

Weather put on a smiley face today so we were glad we were on the bikes. When we set out it was in a mizzle, couldn't see the hills, but we knew it would change. Off to cycle part of the Drakes Trail tomorrow from Tavistock to Saltram House.

I had something similar from HMRC saying I'd overpaid income tax for last year and asking for my bank details via a link. Ignored it and thought no more of it but many weeks later a cheque dropped through the letter box - thanks very much Mr Hammond. So it might not be a scam but if not you'll doubtless get the refund eventually anyway! smile
