Goodness DSB, what a drive, we used to do a ten hour one from the Cairngorm area when we lived there but I think my head would leave my body if we did it now! wink

Thanks TG. Will make a note of them.

Mrs WN and myself are pretty sure it's just the new meds that is causing the problem but doctors want to keep an eye on MiL. We were due back on Tuesday anyway so only missing out on a couple of days.

Drove up to Bromyard Downs and decided to go for a stroll to Brockhampton NT, almost opposite site. Not been before and really enjoyed it plus the walk was good. Have to be off early tomorrow as high winds forecast for the afternoon around home. Want to get there before lunchtime.

Wow, DSB. Mrs WN has to take a travel sickness pill for the run to Tesco, 2 miles away.smile She blanched a bit when I told her about your trip. We lost a good friend last year whose daughter has a croft on Lewis. She used to take 3 days just to get down to us!

Nellie, I'd be interested in the CL you're using just now, we want to see a bit more of the Solway Firth.

Brue, we're on Whins, near Ecclefechan, and about 5 mls from Annan. It's very easy to get to less than 3 mls off the M(A)74 at Jnct 20. It's a basic site with EHU & a couple of H/S pitches. You do need levelling blocks as the site slopes a bit. Good value at £10 pn and I think it would suit you fine.

We stayed on Whins a few years ago, a lovely basic site, smashing views and friendly owners. So easy to get to off the motorway.

Nice start to the day but slowly clouded up. We spent an interesting hour or so at NTS's Thomas Carlyle's House with a very informative guide. Learnt a lot about Ecclefechan as well as Carlyle himself. Then had a walk around Woodcock Air just a s the rain started. It's been quite heavily since we got back to the van and is continuing at the present.

Safe drive home tomorrow WN. Hope you get back before the high winds.

Thanks Nellie and Cariadon for the info about the CL. smile

We had Friday night out at a local big band concert. If any of you are in Somerset in June the band will be playing at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton.  It's called a "Big Band Night under Concorde" and if you'd like to hear music from the likes of Glenn Miller and Whitney Houston etc  under the wings of Concorde it should be a great night!  Our home grown trumpet player had to cover for another one stuck on a train from London, he managed to hit all the right notes. winksmile

Had a rest yesterday (relatively speaking) after our long journey - just one wedding to play for and a choir practice to take last night.  We were due to clean the caravan today, ready for our outing just up the road to Conkers CCC site, but the weather isn't looking too kind.  I think the jury is still out on that one! smilesmile

It's very windy here (50 mph winds) but the sun is out, I think we're due for some warmer weather soon. Hope you can enjoy a break at Conkers David.

We've just got the van out of storage ready for our tour starting on Wednesday. A stop off at C&CC site at Wolverley to break the journey to the Peak District for the Irish Setter Rescue Sponsored walk next Sunday, then up to the Yorkshire coast, back via Wortley Hall CL and then C&CC  Kingsbury Water Park. Fingers crossed that the weather is going to start looking up again! smile

Hope you make it to Conkers David - any plans for Cornwall this year? smile

Discretion got the better part of us today so we paid for an extra night and will go home tomorrow. Bit of a nuisance really as we'd already drained the van. Worse things happen at sea, as they say.

Got up to rain this morning, we've had enough of it so I had a quick word and asked it to stop laughing  must have heard me as we now have sunshine, a bit cloudy but at least its dry. I think we are to escape the high winds.

Started sorting clothes out for the up coming trip. Front bedroom once again looks like a jumble sale. All the things that go in the car OH has sorted them out and put in there, I've sorted my clothes just to sort OH's now.

Will need to pop into shops as I need a reel of thread of a specific colour to alter some trousers, despite having at least a hundred reels, not one of them is anywhere near the right shade frown

    Safe drive back tomorrow WN.

Brue, the concert in June sounds lovely wish we could be there.

A wise decision to put off travelling today WN.  The weather is not good for towing.

The concert sounds wonderful brue.  Wish we were going to be in the area in June. It's lovely watching family members perform.

That was a long trip DSB.  I hope you are recovered now.

The weather is horrid here today.  Very windy and cold with the odd shower of rain, but not enough to do the garden much good.  I have had a good session sorting out all my clothes. I used to be a Governor of our local College but retired 3 years ago so I have cleared most of the clothes I used to wear for meetings plus a load of summer clothes and shoes that I haven't worn for at least 2 years.  There is now a lot of stuff waiting for a trip to our local Sue Ryder shop. (anyone want any hangers?! laughing)

We've had a fine day up here till late this afternoon when the sky darkened and we had thunder, heavy rain and hail, but no high winds. Walked from Haddon Bridge along the Allandale Trail and beside the pleasantly named Water of Milk to Pathhead Bridge and then back past Haddon Castle.

Have you walked up to the Devils Beef Tub just north of Moffat, Nellie? Impressive sight if you get the chance.

Seems that clothe clearances are in vogue as Mrs WN is talking of having a clear out. At least I hope she was talking clothes.undecided

I have just watched Stanley Kubrick’s 2001:A Space Odyssey. It was barking the first time round, and still barking the second time round. One of those “must watch to the end to see what the heck is going on” films.

I like the scenes with H.A.L. Music is good too. Plus given it was produced in 1968 the non CGI special affects aren't half bad. First saw it at the cinema in 1968 and still don't fully understand it.😂

I have been sent a photo of the latest edition to our family, can't quite resist posting a photo, our son and family are very pleased to have him (the puppy has got a collar by the way, it's just one of those portrait poses. wink)

Have a good day one and all. B2 is in the back of my mind as I write this. I've been up early today, the weather looks a lot better. A few more hours till Monday and I'll hopefully be at the dentist to sort out nagging toothache!

Aw, he’s lovely. A portrait to treasure. They grow up so quickly, it’s good to get snaps at all ages.

Definitely none the wiser about 2001ASO. It’s sort of reminds me of some of those so called “great” poems and novels that you were forced into studying for O and A levels. Your teacher/tutor is doing their best to instil a sense of awe and wonderment into you, because others on a higher plane have decreed it should be so.🤔 But by week three, bored rigid at the back of the class your brain is really saying “this is utter b*ll*cks”. I think Kubrick put the spiro gyro light show at the end in just to give those who hadn’t tried LSD a little thrill! 😂

What a lovely pup brue.  Is he a whippet or whippet cross?  Our youngest son and his family got a whippet cross just before Christmas and she has a lovely disposition - so gentle - except when she is let off the lead when she goes off like a rocket!! Yes, Bakers2 is constantly in the back of my mind this week.  I wonder how things are with her OH.  I do hope things are  improving.

Thanks Millie, I have been ignoring warning twangs in my tooth for several weeks hoping it would settle, probably not a good idea as it got a lot worse this weekend. frown

Yes.The puppy is a Whippet, gentle natured. Our other dog, the companion to our terrier until recently had whippet/greyhound in him and he was lovely but we always let him have the big "out run." After that he walked happily alongside us and was well behaved. Can't say that for our old terrier but she's been a great little companion too. She's ten days off her seventeenth birthday, a bit wobbly but still enjoying life.

Fully recovered from our long journey.  Getting ready for our caravn outing to Conkers C&CC site next week.  Still need to clean the caravan.  We put it off Saturday because of the weather.  Fingers crossed for tomorrow.....  smilesmile

Looks like the weather is set to improve for you David.

We had an easy drive home today. The roads were very, very quiet. Home for lunch and unpacked and clothes washed or in the process of. Will wash the car and caravan this week but both have been cleaned inside. MiL says she feels a lot better now.innocent Still going to the doctors tomorrow though.

Not showing the picture of Georgeous to Mrs WN, Brue. Just in case. Hope the tooth gets sorted. Awful stuff. Much rather have Gout and that's saying something.

Yes, I was thinking about Bakers on the way home. Hope all is righting itself down there.

Bakers are in my thoughts as well. Glad you got home safe to find all is reasonably well WN.

We need to sort our MH out ready for our next little trip. Been putting it off as neither of us can face going in there at moment. Little ghost is lurking😢 Got to be faced though.

Seventeen is a grand age Brue, we had MILs old Lab and she made a tottery 17, despite having had a stroke.

Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts, please continue to do so. OH still in hospital but seems to be improving, even his confusion seems better today. I've been reading about  your 'doings' but haven't had the energy to contribute! I think it's all catching up with me, I'm having trouble staying asleep and feel absolutely exhausted. Got some tablets from the doctors but only took 2,  1 a day, as they made me feel even worse. Have been given some different ones but not had the courage to try them  yet!I I'll stick with the sleeping pills. Had a good cry over son's wedding photos today. Tomorrow I must tackle claim forms if I can summon the energy. Hopefully my cleaner will be in tomorrow afternoon as she was unwell last Tuesday when she had a cancellation.

Brue I hope you get your toothache sorted, I shudder to think of your discomfort and pain. I also wish all those feeling under the weather a speedy recovery.

Home or away enjoy yourselves and keep posting.
