The CL is well worth a visit if you're in the area. The pitches are small, but bordered by hedges for privacy - almost like being "over there" from what I can gather!

You should know better than to believe everything you read on here M.smile

Glad you enjoyed your break Millie. I was beginning to wonder if it was just us 2 who've noticed that life is getting coarser by the day. I was putting it down to old age but your incident with the dogs seems almost typical of standards these days. I had to take a prescription in to town yesterday, a quiet day so not many people about but whilst there I saw 2 young ladies, one of whom was pushing a buggy but because the sun was out decided to take advantage of it by just wearing her bra as a top and the other one, not together, thought it a good idea to swear extremely loudly and with a great deal of variety at some poor customer service person on the phone. This seems all too common these days. I really must be getting grumpy.

Mrs WN took MiL for her follow up yesterday. Not all plain sailing but a new plan of action for 3 months to see how it goes. Mrs WN seems happy with it. So today has been a packing the caravan day for departure on Sunday.

I know what you mean about life getting coarse WN. We left a gorgeous little village in N Yorks for our home town, and our usual joke on returning is “let’s see who can spot the first lowlife”. It doesn’t usually take long, and it’s a real downer.

I drove my sister and Mum up to garage yesterday to fetch her car, 2.00 pm in afternoon. Female (at least it looked female) wandering down road in nightie and slippers bawling some sort of abuse into a phone glued to her face. We call it the Jeremy Kyle effect. Sadly it gets worse as each generation is born. Dressing smartly, cleanly and appropriately seems beyond some folks, especially at things like weddings. You gasp with amazement at some choices, wondering if mirrors are a thing of the past.

    Have a good break😁

Good to read all your news, we've moved to the coast in Devon, it's raining at the moment. We're recovering from sharing the joys of a non sleeping toddler on a nearby pitch with a fog horn like capacity for waking everyone up in the early hours! I had forgotten just how tiring it is for all involved. wink smile

We are home, but currently fighting off a horrendous cold and cough. Suspect I brought it home from London hospital. OH and I share most things, but he’s a tad grumpy at me sharing this with him🤬

Not a wasted day, I have found a nice pub stopover for our trip to Wales and have repotted some plants. Weather is turning here as well, gone from a lovely sunny and warm morning to a chilly overcast afternoon.

Millie, Really pleased you had a good stay at Houghton Mill,  and enjoyed a trip to Wicken Fen. The incident with the dogs sounds a bit scary.

Brue, hope you have a quite night tonight.

Ttda,  hope your cold doesn't last too long.

Moulesy the CL looks good, nice pictures.

I have now finished work  10 whole days off! Yippee!  The caravan is packed and we are ready for the off in the morning.smile Will try and keep up with what's going on while away .

Apologies freddy, I missed this, but will get looking for you. Whitby is an easy scenic drive across Moors, with P&R just outside town. However, if you want to do something even better, I would hop onto NY Moors Railway in Pickering, and do the full journey right through to Whitby. Station is in town centre by the River, it’s a superb train ride, and you can hop on and off at various stations if you fancy, including Grosmont where there is a great museum and lots of Railway doings! Club members get a discount via Great Days Out tokens, so a bit of a saving to be made. Whitby will be heaving, it’s very busy all year.

A couple of other gems close to Cliff Farm are Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton Le Hole, and drive into Helmsley, has a great castle, superb shops. There’s a good walk all way to Rievaulx Abbey from car park in Helmsley, around six miles there and back. Or you can just drive to Abbey, which in our opinion is a lovelier location than Fountains. Just driving about on Moors is very enjoyable, some of it is seriously bleak, but there are great pubs for lunch, some fun fords and great churches full of history.

Nellie’s advice about using A64 is good, just try and avoid at rush hour periods, but you skirt Castle Howard Estate which you might want to visit if you have time. It’s fine once past York. I will try and get back with some coastal sites, but Nellie might be more informed than me, we tend to stay inland and avoid the coast in Summer, it’s super busy, great to visit Scarborough for the day, but then we prefer a bit of quiet.😃

We arrived on site this afternoon after an easy 45 min tow from home. Lovely weather here so we cooked steaks outsiide on the Cadac, we then sat outside and had a drink. Now back in the van watching the sun set over the hills.

Sounds lovely Francis, our weather has gone cloudy and cool today.

Freddy, done a bit of looking for you. Not much to be honest, as you need showers. But I found this on UKcampsites, reviews a bit mixed.

    https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=17622

Both Scarborough and Whitby are under an hour from Cliff Farm. There are a lot of cliffs between the two, so access to beaches is selective, Robin Hoods Bay is best, and has some nice walking in area. Lung busting climb up from village to car park, but worth it. Only time we stayed closer to coast was at Flask Inn many years ago. We liked it, can’t recall if it had showers. I do recall some of pitches were seriously on a slope! It’s all statics now.

Thanks TTDA, but I think we have some crossed wires. I’m not looking for any other sites, we’re sorted with Cliff Farm, we’re there for 7 nights.

I’m not too bothered about beaches, I was just wanting to visit coastal towns in the area.

This will be the first time we’ve been to the north-east coast, really looking forward to it 🙂

    Managed to miss this, oops.

Thanks for that. Sounds like we might be a little busy 🙂 I’m liking the idea of the train to Whitby. I’ll take a screenshot for reference 👍

Further down the coast, just  between Bridlington and Flamborough there is the Danes Dyke car park. From there you can walk south to Bridlington itself, just over 2 miles, or North around Flamborough Head.

Just a few miles further up the coast is Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve which is worth a visit if you're interested.

Also Filey, not as brash as Scarborough and a great walk out on to the headland at Filey Brigg.

    Hope that helps. smile

Managed to get on an earlier ferry on Thursday and made it down to Coo, a delightful spot near to the Spa F1 track. The morning, however, was wet so I had to forgo my planned spin around the go-kart track there and we pressed on to Metz, where we are picked next to the Moselle. Having just had my cholesterol top-up with a full English, we are off to visit the cathedral and other architectural highlights of the city.

Had a bit of trauma yesterday evening when the garage hatch wouldn't open which involved dismantling one of the catch mechanisms which seems to have resolved it.

Enjoy your 10 day break Helen. I hope you get good weather.  Where are you off to?

Lovely photos moulesy.  It isn't somewhere we have ever been.  I must add it to our 'to do' list.  The site looks great as well.  Yes it is quite similar to sites  'over there' laughing

It sounds as though you are enjoying Devon brue, despite the rather 'iffy' weather.  I think it is supposed to pick up from tomorrow. Fingers crossed.  How is your little elderly terrier coping?

I am glad that Mrs WN is happy enough with MIL's results for you to plan your next trip WN. I was shocked at the idea of anyone going out in public just wearing a bra for their top surprised.  I agree with TDA - mirrors seems to be a thing of the past.  I am amazed how many people shout in the street - they really don't need a phone. We used to have someone wandering up and down our road in her nightdress shouting into her phone but haven't seen her for a while perhaps she has moved to your area TDA undecided.  My mother always told me to never shout in the street but manners of that sort seem to have disappeared.  We haven't heard anything from the Police about the dog incident.  Perhaps they have just gone and had a word with the owner of the nasty dog which seems to be the way things are done these days.  I hope they make sure the dog is restrained and properly trained. Mind you we all thought he might have been in the military - there are several air bases nearby - as he was in combats and had a very military looking haircut.  If so I daresay they will deal with him..

How’s your good lady’s foot AD?  Hard luck having it happen, but hopefully she is pain free and able to get around a little.

It brings back memories of taking my sister horse riding on Dartmoor, of course she came off and hospitals featured heavily for rest of holiday, but we still had a good time. Hope things mend up quickly for you. Daft as it sounds, sometimes a change of pitch makes things feel like a new holiday, especially if you have a huge outfit next door.🙂

We had a good walk this morning, Slapton Ley as interesting as always. We're looking out to sea from our pitch. Had a good meal last night at one of the village pubs, the Queen's Arms. Tried the new community shop this morning, it was very good (our local one won't venture into newspaper and magazine sales but I think it brings people in.)

The weather had picked up since I took the sea view.

Hope David's wife is making good progress, as you say there are worse places to recover from something.

Millie our little terrier can seem very old one minute and then spritely the next. OH was telling someone she was 17 and quite doddery and then she jumped up the van steps in front of them!

HD, I think it was David dropping his "2020 planned UK Round Trip, using only CAMC sites" book that did it. Hope they fully recover David.smile

Nice area you are in Brue. Presumably you're on the C&CC site. I love the South Hams. Must get back there soon.

Good idea HD. Didn’t realise it was that bad AD, hope the weather stays kind. Crutches aren’t easy either at first. Spain (I think you are in Spain?) might have something similar to our Red Cross who rent out wheelchairs etc.... for a donation. I did this a couple of times for Dad, until he needed one most of the time. Might be worth a look.

Just found this, it mentions help for holidaymakers who might need to hire a wheelchair/scooter, quite a way down the page. No idea where you are, or if any of locations mentioned are close, but good luck if you do decide to consider
