That's not that 'Triky' chap grabbing more than his share of the sun's rays, is it?

When we got up this morning it was pouring but it eventualy calmed down a bit. It was SWMBO birthday last week so we took a drive down to have lunch in one of her favourite pubs The Harbour House Hotel in Portpatrick as usual it was excellent and as it was rainy the village wasn't too busy. Now back at the van may sit out for 10 mins or so before the rain returns

I'am just having a quick catch up making use of the free WiFi while enjoying some local Bowland Beer. The journey up to Settle was good, M6 was quiet for a change.
The weather seemed to brighten up the further north we went. Set up the van, on a nice CL with some lovely views. This afternoon we had a walk into Settle, which is only about 10_15 minutes walk, nice town. There is also a handy pub within walking distance too.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, home or away. βΊ

It has been a poor day weather wise up here at Dornoch with frequent rain showers, so we only managed a couple of local walks, one through the woods adjacent to the site and the other along the shore, between showers. What a change from yesterday when we had wall to wall sunshine and temperatures up around 20 C. We parked above Golspie and walked up to the Sutherland monument at the top of Ben Bhraggie. That's the pillar and statue that overlooks the main A9 after one passes Loch Fleet going north. Spotted a Mountain Hare in it's summer colours.
Good to hear that those out and about are having a good time, although I do feel sorry about your wife's injury, AD, and hope that she recovers full mobility in the not too distant future.

I had not realised how extensive the injuries were David nor the cause. I had read that your wife had suffered a toe breakage but that is far worse by the sounds of it. I had no idea tat she had taken a tumble as well. A broken toe is not that uncommon due to stubbing toes on something. We have had a few in my family - late wife and both daughters. From memory they have been a single toe with others being bruised and after a few days for the bruising to reduce have strapped the broken toe to a neighbouring one. Five toes sound far more challenging to cope with and as we get older I suppose we also heal less well. My condolences to your good lady David

Sorry to hear about the rain. We are still coughing and spluttering with a cold here, but getting better, I will be in touch. Pondering on the Iron Throne this morning...........π€π±

Back home from a great trip to Shropshire. Managed to get a day in bird watching in Wales. Met up with some ex army friends for lunch prior to the formal regimental reunion in the evening. Many of the guys I hadn't seen for 45 to 50 years so had a great catch up.
For the most part the weather was OK although we did have some overnight rain. Got to storage yard and emptied the rest of the van so now it's ready for changing on Friday.

We like Shropshire OP, full of history and interesting places. The regimental museum in Shrewsbury Castle was excellent I recall. Weβve booked an overnight pub stay in a small village not far from Oswestry for our holiday in Wales. Coastal cottage in Wales promises red kites, porpoises and seals, so hope it lives up to the hype. Certainly looks very nice.

Just got ourselves sorted after our Devon trip, the wild flowers in the hedgerows are really lovely this year, I think they got a boost from the earlier good weather. Now dark skies are looming here and it looks like rain...
Hope the changeover goes well Oneputt!

We're also home now after a great 18 days away. A couple of new (to us) CLs - both down for return visits - and a pleasant stay at Bridlington club site. Also a couple of C&CC sites on the way up and back.
Now to start tackling all the jobs - well, maybe tomorrow morning!

We are now on the Med coast at Agde, was great weather when we arrived on Wednesday but Friday we had rain all day. Yesterday and today has been mixed sun and cloud with a stiff breeze, lovely when the suns out but chilly when not. Forecast is for better next week, not sure yet where the stop will be just chilling at the moment.
Nice to read everyone's news, to many posts to comment on. Hope those away have a good trip and those planning to go have safe journies.
Went out on the bikes this morning and cycled up to the canal du midi, nothing going up or down so didn't stay for long.
OH, still having pain in his upper jaw from his big filling he had before we left, don't think its anything sinister, just comes and goes but its annoying him. What's annoying me, is he didn't put any paracetamol in the van for himself (i dont take them) I did remind him to do so, so he had to buy some at the pharmacia the other day. Thought he was going to have fit at the cost, he's used to buying them from the supermarkets back home at a tenth of the cost
that will teach him

One of our best holidays in Cornwall was in May brue, the wild flowers are gorgeous. Seems some of Europe is having mixed weather at the moment, we have been following the Giro and they have cycled through some awful rainy days. Hope things pick up for anyone with weather like this.
AD, I have the GOT books on audio, and found them very different to the TV show. The list of book characters is possibly triple that in the TV show, but certain things do help. I am glad I watched the show before doing the books, rattled along nicely. It helps if you understand George Martinβs inspiration was the War of the Roses period combined with a touch of Hadrians Wall and a pinch of the Arthurian legend! Itβs the very last show tonight, we had been gripped for the last eight years, so have decided to set our alarms and watch it as it is broadcast live at 2am in the morning to avoid any hint of a spoiler! π±

Today we ventured over the border into Lancashire and the Forest of Bowland. Had a lovely walk down to Stocks Reservoir through Gisburn Forest.
The weather has been really good, just making the most of the last bit of sunshine.Dinner cooking and wine poured, I could get used to this.
Hope caravan change over goes well Oneputt. And Happy Birthday to your OH Francis, glad you had a good trip away.
Brue, and Moulsey pleased to read that you also both enjoyed your holidays.

Had an easy drive up the M6 to Meathop Fell site. Site about 75% full. Had a stretch of the legs after lunch. Always feel tired on the first day of any holiday. Probably the stress dropping away. Ready for some hills tomorrow, if Mrs WN willing.
Wonder how Bakers is coping?

Yes, thereβs going to be a huge gap once it ends. But I am watching The Borgias as well....Machiavelli is in there as well. But no dragons....π

Wonder no longer π. We're plodding along so far, fingers crossed and I'm not jinxing it. Both recovering and enjoying the sun, shame it disappeared Friday giving us a cold and wet day that's improved to grey overcast. Just learning how to live again and readjust to home life πππ
We are pottering. Our cleaner is working out well π, managed to wash the nets and do the inside of the windows - joint job I washed the nets in the machine and cleaner did the windows ππ last week and even found a window cleaner on Thursday and for a fee π― the outside windows good a great clean, frames and sills too. Maybe our previous window cleaner was too cheap! But we've not seen him for 18 months plus so this window cleaner probably earned his money!
Friends have tidied our garden and planted their spare plants, what great friends we have π so I'm managing grass cutting, been a very dry May here so once a week has been sufficient, so again enjoying doing it and not a worry.
Plenty of appointments to keep us up to speed! Gave up on the 're-enablers' very quickly, OH so much stronger this time and they couldn't be here early enough to ensure he'd be ready for appointments. He even cooked a quick dinner Friday, only oven chips and eggs but such progress! Stroke physio discharged him this week π, cardio rehab starts Tuesday week, surgical team at the cardiothorassic centre discharged him too π and the ICD has been checked working well but only the pacemaker bit used a few times when his heart rate too low - no shocks needed ππ. Given a gizmo, by the hospital, which was fun to set up as we couldn't get a signal it should be by his bed but has to be in our lounge because of signal, I presume mobile signal?, which monitors ICD and the next check up will be remotely via the gizmo and telephone in 6 months.
Been catching up on posts here, delighted folks are having a good time generally, some exceptions for Tricky and Mrs another David π― wishing them speedy recoveries. Belated birthday greetings to those who've celebrated.
Keep posting folks...........
