Today we did a very dangerous thing - we went to a caravan dealer to buy a bulb for the caravan. However we managed to escape unscathed despite looking through a few windows.
Unlike the time we went to buy an aerial and bought a caravan. I know it's a fairly regular occurrence, but we're quite steadfast in liking the caravan we have, despite it's age (is 14 years old in caravan years?) and don't see the point in change for change sake.

It won't be long on Brue, he is spraying prima on, but is going to take it to someone he knows to spray the paint.
We have a classic car show planned for later in the year.

Great weather in West Wales 🌞 so went to Powys Castle, first time for us. Great location with fabulous grounds and gardens. Sat in the courtyard for afternoon tea. Back at CL had a lovely walk around the sites 11 acres.
Hope B2 is managing OH without too many problems.
Everyone else on trips - enjoy

Busy day today, stripped the beds and washed all the sheets, then did the clearing up in the garden, after OH gave the hedge a trim. Next car got a well deserved wash.
Sun came out at lunchtime so went for a nice walk with the dog. Had to pop to the shop, and bumped into an old school friend, so spent a while catching up.
Brue, I watched some of Mary Berry's quick cooking programmes, I really liked the sound of the no churn rum and raisin ice cream made with condensed milk.

We're seeing them again soon at Morecambe Platform, then back in the Coronation Hall at Ulverston in Autumn.
Hope you enjoy the Morecambe concert, I will try to get to the Ulverston one, if we're home!! Thanks for the info, Goldie.

Beautiful sunny day in South Lakes. Drove through Carmael and parked up by the Golf Course. Had a couple of hours walk on Hampsfell. Fantastic 360 degree views from the Hospice. Then dropped down into Grange and had a promenade along the esplanade!!
Back to the van for a hour or so sit-out in the sun.

Cloudy but dry this morning. We drove up to Chedworth and walked from the village church along another stretch of the Monarch's Way with good views from the high ground. On our way back the church bells were ringing and we did wonder if there was a wedding and should we feel guilty about taking one of the few parking spaces? Fortunately it was just a practice so no harm done. Had lunch at the newly refurbished village pub; a bit disappointing to be honest, it's tried to go all up market but has ended up overpriced and not particularly enjoyable. Got back in time to watch the Grand National and we've just had a gorgeous deep red sunset, so hopefully a good sign for tomorrow morning.

She has a nice sounding recipe for no churn lemon verbena ice cream as well.
Got my ice cream book out today, thinking of making Gingerbread Ice Cream for Easter Sunday meal with Mum and Sis. Might make some small white choc shells to put a scoop in with some fruit.

Now on the CCC site in Dingwall. Nice little site, very convenient for the town, good flat pitches. Very cold here, not much sun today, but at least it is dry.
Site is quite busy, mix of caravans and MHs.
Quick trip to Lidl for some wine to have with our dinner, they have opened here since our last visit to the town about 6 years back, plus there is now a large Tesco in what used to be a car park

I had a great day yesterday with a friend on a U3A trip to Delepre Abbey and the Rennie Mackintosh house in Derngate in Northampton. The Guildhall was a bit of a disappointment though. OH did great work in the garden while I was out. It is looking really good.Today has been a bit of a non weather day - grey, no wind and no rain. I did get my washing dry though. I fetched my new spectacles this morning. I am not sure about them yet though

reading all these cookery posts on here prompts me to ask a question if I may, please although I know its not Ice Cream related :--
In Morrison's super market t'other day I saw a wedge of cheese marked up as "Hot Cross Bun Cheese" nobody there could stop giggling long enough to tell me what the heck it was.
So Does any one on here know, pulleese ???
Confused & hungry, CREWE

Glad you can see them ABM. My problem is seeing through them at the moment

OH chose some new glasses yesterday after his eye test results changed, the Optician also told him to keep up with the Glaucoma checks due to NHS ideas about cutting back, they appear to be extending the length of time between checks for some.
ABM. I looked up the hot cross buns cheese debacle, sacrilege, cheese and bacon in hot cross buns (Jamie Oliver leave them alone!
) My grandfather drew me a little picture years ago of his yearly Good Friday trip to the bakery to purchase hot cross buns for his parents and seven siblings in the early 1900s. I must try to find it, it was a funny little cartoon type drawing. As you might gather I like hot x buns.
Millie the trip sounded interesting, I hadn't heard of Delapre.
KJ, I liked the Dingwall site too, nice to have the town on one side and waterside walks on the other.

That’s all I could find on Hot Cross Bun Cheese Brue. I came to the conclusion that like many ingredients touted by famous chefs, it is just something rather ordinary being sold at an extortionate price, and hence the giggling from staff when the gullible buy it!
On hot cross buns, which I love, came across what for me was the best hot cross bun ever while we were touring Dales. We stopped off at Booths in Settle, and they had a made in store own brand selection of quite a few different flavours. I bought a packet of dark chocolate and ginger, have to say they tasted fantastic, if a touch sticky to deal with. It’s somewhat fortunate that we have no Booths supermarket anywhere close, as I doubt I would be able to resist more of these!🙄

Ooh, ttda those chocolate and ginger hot cross buns sound really yummy,
don't suppose they will still be selling them when we get up to Settle in May

Off hand I think its June when I head for Durham Grange, so I could scour the area on my way up to find this mythical Food Wonderstore !!
Just a week now 'til I head south to Bearsted via Henley Furry Coats then a quick (!) cross country to Godrevy via an over night at Cadeside. Starting to assemble the required items & dusting off them blooming spiders
Enjoy yourselves & your Sunday Lunches, then I'll annoy you all a bit later

Luckily for me, OH isn’t fond of dark choc, or ginger, so I confess I had all four. (Not all at once though!) Handling the little blighters was a trial, as the little choc beads they are made with melt during toasting, but they do taste divine. We are fairly new to Booths, so always do a special shop if there is one close. I was able to stock up on a few things that ordinary supermarkets just don’t do, like lemon infused rapeseed oil, and preserved lemons, which I love when making a tagine. Never seen so many different gins all in one place......

They are Lancashire/Lakes base ABM, couple of stores on Western edge of Yorkshire at Settle and Ilkley. So sadly nowhere near DG.
Another place we came across that looked and tasted nice, Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour, just outside Skipton, near Bolton Abbey. We are totally incapable of passing an ice cream parlour, so drove in expecting some sort of farm based little outlet. Got the surprise of the holiday when we parked up and walked in.......it’s a big American style roadhouse eatery, complete with Airstream caravan inside selling coffees, lovely ice cream and full American style menu. We only had an ice cream, but the food coming out looked really nice. Somewhere to try when next in area.

The van opposite us left quite early this morning, opening up a good view of the whole site, and we could then see that there were far more MHs than caravans. The site has emptied out now, with a few MHs having left pitch markers, and a couple of new MHs have already arrived.
Very overcast and chilly, so we had a short trip out to buy Adblue, check out LPG (both at the local garage), and then down to the farm shop near Beauly for a look around, and now back at the van having lunch.
A few days back we visited the Baxter's place at Fochabers and stocked up on some soup etc, so we have just had their cream of asparagus, which was tasty.
Next I will have to empty out the back of the car to get to the Adblue tank, which is under the floor and under the spare wheel, not very convenient. This car seems to get through a lot of Adblue.
Hoping for better weather tomorrow as we plan to head north toTain and Dornoch.

I do all my shopping at Booths (Kirkby Lonsdale). It’s small enough for the staff to know you and your preferences, but big enough to stock everything I want. Fresh local veg, wonderful meat, an array of cheeses and as you said Gins Galore. I sometimes walk past the aisle with my eyes shut. But it’s so easy to succumb . . .
