Really good news, Bakers, so glad for both of you. Just take it easy for a few days.

Fine sunny day here after cool night, but no frost. Visited Ripley Castle this morning and had really interesting tour led by a very informative lady. After lunch we walked along the Greenway as far as the Nidd Viaduct and back. Heavy rain shower this evening, but it's stopped for the present.

Cold  here  too,  TDA,  in  fact  saw  bright  flashing  lights  when  taking  out  my  'black'  bin  a  while  back  and  thought  the  boys  had  turned  up  12  hours  early.  But  no,  once  again  the  Gritters  were  getting  their  Overtime  in  smile  and  Brian  ain't  complaining  about  that  'cos  I  regularly  met  them  when  I  was  on  an  Emergency  Call-out.

Got the Volvo back from the garage this afternoon all fixed but £400 lighter from the bank account. Still away in a couple of days so won't complain too much.

Blimey! Back to winter this morning - it's cold and wet and we even had a snow flurry first thing! frown

The seasonal van opposite us still has it's rooflight open, so I presume and hope that the owners have reckoned on this weather and have some sort of protection. Not sure if the wardens managed to get in touch with them. I'd assumed they kept a set of keys for emergencies, but apparently not.

Mrs M is talking about some sort of ....er.....shopping trip but I'm hanging on for an improvement in the weather to get out for a walk later on. (I'll leave it for you to guess who's going to win that particular debate! laughing)

Having a day off, freezing cold, OH gone fishing, Garden Club Spring Show coming up, ha ha, this is the day the weather knocks everything back.

Ordered two new cushion covers for the van, on our last trip OH managed to do the flying glass of red wine routine, I was surprised how far and how much it reached. Hence new cushion covers, luckily the carpet survived after much loving care and grumbling...wink

No snow or ice here but very chilly back to wearing a fleece after the lovely sunny weather of last two weeks but all water butts are now full and garden looking better after all the rain on yesterday. Apparently a lot of snow fell on the Pyrenees and the Alps yesterday so hope Another David you can miss most of it on your trip south.

Dry here for now but looks as though it might rain later.  There is a biting wind.  I thought I might do some gardening as it is dry but I changed my mind and came back indoors.

I hope all those away manage to survive the weather. I will look forward to hearing about your shopping trip moulesy laughing

Know the feeling, or perhaps the lack thereof. Mind you I bet it was colder in the Denmark Straits than Biscay.

I was glad to have finished the waxing of the MH on Tuesday before the weather turned grotty. Doesn't augur well for next weeks break though.

Well you can tell its April, one minute sun the next rain showers. Still very cold out in the wind, no frost or snow so can't complain.

I've got the sewing machine out an have made a couple of waterproof covers for the electric bits on the bikes, I know they are supposed to be waterproof but it can't hurt to be careful. wink

We've decided against putting a cover on the bikes when we are driving this year, as all it does is billow out with the wind. We've tried putting straps around the cover but its such a faff (it doesn't fit well either) OH said "they're bikes, bikes get wet" sealed it will be quicker to load them, that's for sure.

As the weather is so cold and wet just now, I've decided to get all the caravan things out of their winter hiding places and put them together in the spare bedroom, ready to put back into the van once the weather behaves.

Managed to weed out more stuff that we don't need to take, and have checked contents of the first aid box I keep in the van and replenished it. Went through OH's boxes of bits and cleared out a load of 'spares' and' just in case' he's worse than me laughing

OH was busy yesterday when it was dry and fitted a 12v socket just  inside the front under bed box, we can access it from the flap, so the cool box can now sit outside and plug in smile he is also busy updating his Satnag's  he has the main one and a spare (of course) wink + the inbuilt one in the car laughinglaughing We now know why the reception on the radio is so bad, its got loose wires at the back that should have been soldered, so another job for him to do.

Time to get on with more work laughinglaughing

Bad nights sleep so a little tardy getting out and about.

Decided against the T-shirt and shorts today and went for something a little warmer, like a thermal vest and winter woolly.

Walked down to Tredegar House as it was still raining and had a tour of the house. Not what was planned but interesting nonetheless.

Well,  what  a blooming  awful  day.  Sorted  laundry  out  and  went  for  a  short  dash  to  Morrisons.  Walking  across  the  carpark  into  a  stiff  wind  and  got  covered,  I  thought,  in  Blossom  blown  from  the  trees.  Well I  found  out  I  was  wrong  when  the  'blossom'  on  my  glasses  started  melting  surprised.

Got  even  more  confused  round  the  cheese  stalls 'cos  I'd  never  met  a  cheese  wedge  like  it  undecided.  It  was  clearly  labelled  as  " Hot Cross Bun  Cheese"  !! Couple  of  us  just  stood,  looked  at  each  other,  shook  our  confused  heads  and  walked  away  giggling.

Trust  you've  all  had  a  good  day  and  found  out  something  you  didn't  know  as  well.

As  some  folks  on  here  say  Every  day  is  a  learning  day  wink

Have a good trip to IOW, Tricky.

We've been fortunate as we've not had any snow and only bits of rain during the night. Today was mainly cloudy, but did have a few sunny spells. After shopping at Aldi, we parked in Ripley again but walked the other way today, part of the Nidderdale Trail. All packed up and ready for the off tomorrow to our last site on this trip.

By the time we get home we will have been away 61 nights this trip, staying on 11 CLs and 2 CC sites, all H/S with EHU,  at an average of approx £13:60 pn, so can't complain.

It's raining here just now but hope the weather improves for the IOW TP, I think I heard it might get a bit warmer over the next few days down our way.

Have booked to see Fishermen's Friends late this afternoon, everyone seems to like it so hope we'll enjoy it too.

OH has to go round to fix the elderly neighbour's TV, the channels keep up dating and they can't manage all the re-tuning which seems to be a more frequent event. They make it slightly more complicated as they only want to watch Welsh TV!

Had a lovely day out yesterday with Mum and Sister, we decided to visit Hardwick Hall, which is a short hop down M1 for us. Mum had never been before, but loves Tudor history, and needlework, so she was fascinated. A well meaning NT guide got polite short shrift when he enquired if she would like to take a short cut to save climbing stairs, Mum has a spirit something akin to Bess of Hardwick, and her response was a polite no thanks, my legs work perfectly. And then climbed the full top to bottom of the house! I had forgotten just how fabulous the big reception hall is on the top floor. Lunch was a bit disappointing for NT, but they were busy when we called into restaurant. Lots of grand parents with babies and tots in tow, definitely a new demographic group.

Weather is nice here today, sunny and a lot warmer. Bit of a tidy, then out into garden methinks........

It's been a much better day today, not quite warm enough to get the shorts back out, but dry and sunny nonetheless.

Just me and Lady here, Mrs M had to return home for serious bridge business (it was her turn in charge of the tea and cakes - bet there won't be any left for me frown). So no car and a walk direct from the site, heading up the Monarch's Way which leads first to the pub at North Cerney and then further up into the Cotswolds.

The site is beginning to fill up for the weekend, I guess there will be lots coming in over the next hour or so.

Feet up with a nice cuppa now and time to catch up on a bit of reading. smile

Beautiful day here today and much warmer though the wind is still cold.

After many phone calls from Solar companies trying to flog more equipment, we relented and invited them to do a 'health' check of the system. Upshot is the system is working fine and no requirement for any extra bits and bobs smile Panels could do with a wash though.

As its such a nice day I've spent most of the day in and out the caravan, first a good clean through to get rid of the dust and dead spiders. Then started to put everything back in the van that was in the spare bedroom. List made of things to buy next time we are at the shops.

Feeling pretty chuffed with what has been accomplished, we are not due to go abroad for another 4 weeks yet but we might just managed a few days away here. So getting the van sorted apart from food and clothes really helps.

Brue, we went to see Fishermans Friends last week, we enjoyed it, helps if you like the music, we do. smile

NTH, your average nightly costs are good, wish we could say the same but fear it will be a fair bit more as all but the first night will be sites.

Triky have a good trip to IOW
