Watched a very heartwarming report on Channel 4 news last night. People injured for various reasons up out of wheelchairs and walking with their legs helped by robots. Must be absolutely marvellous for them. Science and research is so great!

Still blustery her, rain off and on.

Just been out to the car to tidy it and put the back seat down as OH has secured 3 Ikea roll front office cabinets on our local freecycle, so now we need to arrange to pick them up.  Might need 3 trips as they are quite large.

I may have to fight DD for them, OH thought she might be able to use them for storage in their new house, but I have my eye on them for tool storage!

I hope your little grandson starts to sleep well soon Kj, one of ours appeared never to understand the word sleep and it can be very tiring for everyone. Good luck with black out solution, it is very light at the moment, probably more so in Scotland.

The sun is out again here, hope you're all having a good day.

After a bit of a grey start the weather has again been lovely today, cool

Managed to get to and from Kings Cross in about the usual time as we were met and papers done at the stationsmile,

When out with Rosa noted a Fire Engine at the local Comp school,it was on "standby" as workmen were having to move the water pipe that supplies the sprinkler system, and all because a "student?" had injured himself when he walked into it,the pipe in question stood off the wall 4inches,surprised

I hope so too, he gets very grumpy when he is tired, but has not yet figured out that the best plan is just to go to sleep!

We have now successfully  got 2 of the free cupboards into the house, managed, just, to fit 2 into the car.  OH and I and one of the staff at the place giving them away had no trouble getting them into the car as everything was on one level,  but we have 9 steps up into the house so we had to send for help to get them out of the car again.  DD came up and assisted, so we had a quick visit from grandson as well.

We will fetch the third unit on Monday.  They are all like new, no idea why they are giving them away, these are really solid units that cost about £250-£300 each when new and actually match some that we already have.

They will sit in the spare room meantime, and if DD does not find a use for them at her new place, and OH does not then claim them,  then I will apparently be allowed to have them!

Still very windy here, but at least the sun has reappeared.

We have just been treated to our very own aerobatic display by a Spitfire (I think) over the Solent and East Cowes this afternoon.

Sounds good DK. Always brings a lump to the throat seeing those old planes flying. We usually catch a glimpse of Spitfire , Hurricane and sometimes Red Arrows at least once a year. We had a fabulous view of Spitfire practising a couple of years ago at Tattershall Castle. I took Mum and Dad to Penzance's big Summer event one holiday, and the Red Arrows did a superb display all around and over St michaels Mount! Very memorable.smile

It was the engine noise that first alerted me to it. I have been up close to Spitfires and Hurricanes at Duxford. I can only tell the difference by the cockpit canopy and I might even get that wrong! My Mum used to tell us about seeing the Schneider Trophy plane on Southampton Water when the winner of the race was the forerunner of the Spitfire which of course was designed and built in Southampton and first flew from Southampton (Eastiiegh) Airport.

The wing shape are the big give away between the two.  The air show this weekend will have the Battle of Britain memorial flight and the red arrows so hopefully the weather will be good and we will view some exciting flying 🚁

Cool, grey and windy start to the day but as we had planned to go and see my cousin and his wife in Wymondham today it didn't bother us too much. We had a good day and it was great to see them as it had been a while. It is now a beautiful evening and we  have been watching a mummy moorhen and her brood wandering about the site.

I hope your grandson sleeps better now with the blackout curtains Kj. I remember those days/nights very well. Our youngest was not a good sleeper. Good luck to your DD for her house viewing tomorrow.

I wonder whether we will see anything of the planes from the Gt Yarmouth airshow where we are?

Sounds good. We used to have Finningley Airshow close to us back in the 70's and 80's. Always a good day out. It was interesting going to the viewing area the day before and watching some of the aircraft arrive, especially if someone had a CB radio. I was lucky enough to witness (and hear!) a three Vulcan scramble one year, the ground did literally shake!

Smooth trip back from Noyadd Farm CL after lunch today. Just a few jobs and a bit of cleaning to be done over the weekend. Mrs M has a busy bridge schedule next week so I might take the opportunity to pop away with Lady for a couple of days while the vans out of storage and the weather's good! smile

Some pictures here of our trip to Gigrin Farm kite feeding centre. They don't really do justice to what we saw but they give you a rough idea. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

No it was about 09:30 a.m. It was all done by lunchtime!

I meant the morning before the night I posted that, although as it was past midnight, it would have become the previous morning! Sorry for the confusion, Milothedog!

Luckily, it stopped raining in time for us to hitch up and leave for Littlehampton. So we had dry weather for our journey and arrival.

When we arrived at reception, we were allocated our pitch during the checking in process. We were recommended pitch no. 37 as being suitable for a caravan of our length. This is because not all pitches are long enough. So after we had driven round to the correct location, to our surprise, we found the pitch occupied by someone else.

So when my wife showed him our our barrier card, he took the view that he had got there before us, so it was now his pitch. It turned out that he had been allocated pitch no.1 but didn't like it for some reason, so took our pitch instead. Then the warden appeared and said that pitch no.41 was free and that we could use that instead.

Unfortunately, pitch no. 41 is right next to the exit barrier with very little space to manouevre, so it took us ages to get sited using the motor mover thereby blocking the exit for other traffic.

Lovely sunny day here, just walk through park and down the high street.   Went into boots to pick up my medication, no problem except pharmacist said this is the last time the chemists will be allowed to reorder a patients medication.  Can’t say I’m surprised as I seem to have more medication than Bootssurprised.   Now going to get out into the garden.

That seems a very retrograde step if it applies to all pharmacists. When my mum was alive and still living on her own, it was very useful having the local chemist reorder and deliver her prescription. She would have almost certainly forgotten and with us 180 miles away, it would presumably have meant us ringing the surgery to sort out, or getting access to her prescription online, if that was allowed.

Nice and sunny here as well. Just walked to do the local village shopping and now having a coffee.😀

Tesco in-store pharmacy still do the re-ordering for my medication. Only their text messaging service doesn't seem to work anymore so I just have to check with them when I'm running out whether the re-order has come through.

Interesting that the warden didn't make the other person move ? Especially as he had been allocated a pitch and took it upon himself to choose another.  Most decent people would at least go and ask first. I would have.

Glorious sunny morning here 😆. Just had a quick whizz through the housework 😔. Cuppa and catch up on here, after lunch were off to friends up the road for a catch up - hopefully in the garden 😃. Not caught a glimpse of them despite them only being about 20 houses up for more than a month.

Mousley what a wonderful spectacle that must have been, I heard glowing reports and your photos echo those. I do hope you manage a few days away with Lady. How is Harry?

Oneputt it is bizarre with regard to repeat prescriptions, for years I've emailed my repeat to the GP for collection at the independent chemist nextdoor. Last October there was a curt automated reply to say not accepting repeat prescriptions via this method took too much time and confidential destruction so by written requests into the surgery, I just got under the wire. More/Still confidential waste destruction and a retrograde step as far as I can see. Should a prescription be issued whilst I'm at the surgery it goes eletronically to the chemist nextdoor, in fact thinking about you're not asked if you want to get it somewhere else!

Milliehull and Tammygirl sounds like you're having a good time away.

I started a thread but so far no response 😉 about somewhere to eat near in or near Great Yarmouth for a celebratory meal. All a bit implusy,  but we get to stay for a race day so an added bonus 😃. We'll have access to a car so motorhome parking not an issue Oneputt do you have an ideas? One is meat and 2 veg fan but can be steered away 😉 other 3 quite happy to try new and different. We will have the grand dog doesn't need to be dog friendly but could be a bonus - but generally posher places aren't, she can stay in the car so long as there's shade, or we can eat out if the weather is good. Looking at end of June Saturday night and or Sunday lunch.

Enjoy your day folks. Including those not acknowledged, sorry if I've missed replying 😉

The kites were truly spectacular - they reckon about 200 at the moment and even more in Winter! I only took my little compact camera but Mrs M took a couple of videos on her tablet and they are wonderful to watch. Harry's fine, thanks, but at 12 and a half he struggles in the heat and can't really do any long walks any more. Spirit is willing but legs are weak etc.I fear a hard decision to be made in the coming months but right now he's happy just chilling!

Hi B2, looked for your thread but can't see it.  There are lots of of the chain type pub/restaurant type places to eat.

Some of my favourites places are

The Cafe Crue, at the Imperial Hotel on the sea front at Yarmouth.

    https://www.imperialhotel.co.uk/file_download/3/cru-menu.pdf

and the Colombia Tavern just off Yarmouth seafront. Its Greek Cypriot food, where I ate last weekend

    http://www.columbiataverna.com/

A good Indian restaurant is Planet Papadum on Yarmouth seafront

    http://www.planetpapadum.com/

If I can help further please let me know

Thanks Oneputt. I put it in UK sites and touring after looking at discussion sections, really against my better judgement of general chat. Why on earth did you think you might find it 😉.

I'll check these out and consult. Guessed there'd be chains but was hoping for self owned or pub not necessarily in Great Yarmouth, nice to have local knowledge 😃I may take you upon that offer.

Glad to hear Harry is ok M, it's difficult as they age. We used to end up carrying the eldest Airedale everywhere, but it's just not possible with the Labs! One of ours is struggling to walk far because of arthritis and spondilocis in the spine. Poor lad is only eight. We have the pain relief covered, but he can't walk more than half a mile nowadays. So we have bought a stroller. We will always have a dog, it will get old, so it is a good move for us. With a bit of coaxing, he now loves it. Walks as far as he can, has a bit of a rest, then does a bit more. Other dog is 12 this year, she is doing fine so far, but I can see it becoming a double buggy!

That is what I thought because we ended up with a pitch that is unsuited to the length of our outfit and may have similar difficulty moving off tomorrow as a result. It's so close to the exit that there's not enough room to turn and straighten up before going through the site barrier. Also, the tight manouevring has churned up the gravel in front of the pitch.
