Dull, misty and damp here. We want to go across and finish emptying the caravan, before it goes in for its service. Yesterday when I looked at my weather App, it was supposed to brighten up. Now it is showing it like this much of the day. Perhaps we will wait and see what tomorrow brings.😀

Just been watching the tits on the peanut feeder, they are having a great time. The top is broken and the brave ones are going down inside and flying off with a whole peanut.

I often sleep during the day. After my last post on here, I went back to bed and only got up just now. I also have another sleep after lunch and then get up at 15:30 to get ready for the commute to work.

All of the advice given to MM should only ever be posted in the "pointless" thread.

Grant, I think you'll find that it's already started festering on the Pointless thread anyway! undecided

We can't do that because my cousin needs it for himself. The community nurse visits him every morning and it would cause difficulty if we were in the way. Also, where would we park the caravan? It's too big to fit on the driveway there.

As you say brue they are social threads. Wether it is ironing, going out shopping or M's financial problems. They are all covered, particularly by the pointless thread. We did have a particular EV thread but it was closed, for in my opinion no particularly good reason. Just post what you want to post and skip over the bits that don't interest you.

I do check direct debits. I cancelled the £20 a month service plan direct debit after ordering the Smart Electric because no further servicing will be needed on the existing Smart. They sent me an email and I replied explaining why it was no longer required, then I got a reply to say that they will be paying me £73 refund this month.

Caravan can stay on site as you did when you couldn't drive. Surely with a tenancy agreement you have some rights or is that only on paper.

I was told by other posters that anyone can post anything wherever they ant to, or words to that effect. Will look back and try and find it.

I will ask for the Pointless thread to be closed if needed?

I see no reason to do so Brue. Starting a thread should not imply ownership. If folk respond to other posters on there with regards to topics that you are bored with  assume that is because it holds some interest for those posters. Goldie often posts about her farm but you appreciate that. Others appreciate different posters as well. I personally endeavor not to prescriptive.

It may be tedious to you, Milliehull, but not to those who are happily contributing to the discussion. There are some who might find your mundane posts tedious.

I have no other choice, SteveL. It's simply not viable for me to continue to use fossil fuel driven cars. The cost of the fuel is more than what Pizza Hut pay me in drop money. in addition, I'm presently losing all the tips, plus some of my wages on fuel!

With the Smart Electric, I will commute 30 miles from Gatwick to Portslade which will us one-third of the full battery. I'll need to spend no more than 45 minutes at the dealer in Portslade to top that up to full as it will already have two thirds of the 99 mile range left. I'll then have enough power to do 40 mikes worth of deliveries plus the 30 mile commute back to Gatwick. On the few occasions when I need to do more miles than that, I still have the Shigun as a back up if I run out of battey power.

That is one thing I can say about your posts is that they are unbelievable and gives me a good laugh. Others haven't realise yet that these posts are merely for amusement and not a true reflection of your real life.

Keep posting and keep giving me a good laugh, we need something to brighten up the dark days before spring.

Do you actually do 50 miles on deliveries Malcolm?

I would hope not as that would mean that when commuting from Gatwick you would not only set off between 60 and 90 mins early but would have to hang around after your shift to recharge for the commute home and presumably pay for the privelege.

You know all this for a fact, Malcolm?

Of course you do as you've tried it out. Oh. wait a minute you haven't got the car yet, so no then!

What happens if you run out on the A23, how will you be able to use the Shogun? It'll be parked up somewhere else?

The Shogun runs on fossil fuel anyway, so not much help there!

Think you were considering a generator at one time, fossil fuel again!

I, for one, can't wait for you to get your EV and then prove most of us wrong.wink

One possible Fly in the ointment there Malc. 40 miles deliveries and 33 miles back to base is 73 miles. (You are staying at Gatwick during winter I think). I thought that your dealers salesman suggested a range with lights etc of more like 70 miles? (and I would assume the effects of cold weather add to this).

I think for most shifts I do less than 50 miles. Each Lancing delivery is about two miles on average there and back. For Shoreham and Worthing, average about 8 miles there and back but I often get two drops at a time, so 4 miles per drop. Some shifts are a total of 6 to 7 drops. On the busiest days 12 drops per shift.

Yes but on the very busiest of days, if I'm low on power, all I have to do is use the Shogun to do the return to Gatwick commute. It's only about 6 to 8 miles to the house address from work where I can park the Smart car and swap over for the Shogun. Also the reduced range would only apply in the winter.

But, surely, the Shogun would cost you twice as much in fossil fuel as it's MPG is very low?

Also, I take it your cousin would be happy for you to use his electricity to charge your EV?

I would not put it as "happily " more like trying, although to no avail, to stop you making an even bigger mistake and with your continuous changing your postings to suit your strange agenda, especially as there are posters on here with lot more financial savvy than what you seem to accept as gospel from the people you seem to deal with in your financial lifecool

Simple answer to that one leave the EV at cousins until before next shift and drive to Smart dealer for free charge before next shift. Like I said simply a matter of spinning plates ........... what could possibly go wrong?

I could see the shogun getting plenty of use during cold, dark, wet, wintry weather. Saving? What saving could be the result!
