Thanks @richardandros - did you manage to clean the car and the van. I have to admit, although I'm quite good at cleaning the inside of the car, I have to admit, I just use the car wash for the outside... 😀😀 Hope you managed to finish of cleaning the van too, @RedKite. Lovely photos @Wherenext - glad you had a good day.

So long since we have been down there🥲 Lovely photos @DSB
@Wherenext glad you got away ok, we haven’t visited Dunham Massey, looks nice. @nelliethehooker no rain here, we are facing a hosepipe ban from Friday, driest Spring, early Summer I can remember.

Wonderful photos, David @DSB - it's also a very long time since we were there.
Had a good result this morning. You may remember my almost fruitless search for pilchards - for Princess Meg!! Ended up paying an extortionate £3.50 a can on the internet - which seemed to be the going rate. Well, yesterday one of my spies (a dog walking friend😂) told me she had seen some in Heron Frozen foods, of all places. Never been in there in the 12+ years we have lived here. Sure enough - a shelf was stacked with them at…….£1.09 a can😪!!!!! Cleared the shelf and came out with a very large carrier bagful. Should keep her going for a while!

Now watch her decide she doesn’t like them any more 😄

@Tinwheeler - I can absolutely guarantee there's no danger of that - if it's edible - and even if it isn't - Meg will eat it. One day, I'll tell you the story of a lunch party and Meg devouring 24 meringues, complete with fresh cream and chocolate🙄

Yesterday morning instead of going out and doing something cultural or energetic we stayed in an watched television!
But not television as you know it. Using my iPad we logged on the CCTV at home, connected it to the television via HDMI and watched what was happening in our yard - the moving into the new dairy all the milk processing and bottling kit.

Ha ha are you spying @Goldie146. Hope it all goes well, quite exciting for you, but is that why you chose to go away 😀 Our Son has a camera at the front door, as have we, but he often uses his to see what time our almost grown up grandchildren come home and to see if all their friends are round. When out with us we often hear him moan cos the house is full of youngsters. The kids moan cos Dad is always one step ahead of them. He’s very lenient really he just likes to know what’s going on… and who drunk all the alcohol from their outside Tiki Bar at the end of the garden 😃 😆.2

Has it? You mean to say I'm going to have to upgrade my T V. Next you'll be telling me you can't get those huge tubes at the back. Hope they do refunds at Radio Rental.😀
Another lovely day here. We decided on a walk around some old mining flashes near the Anderton Boat Lift. Parked up and visited the museum and cafe first. The history of it is explained in the lower floor and for some strange reason they have a collection of Penny slot machines found at Fairs and Arcades. Photo of one enclosed, about as old as my Tele. It's supposed to tell you what your personality is. The punchline at the bottom says if it doesn't stop on one then you don't have a Personality.
Lovely long walk. Back to site for a much needed shower.
Lovely photos @DSB. OH great grandfather was a Cornish Tin Miner. The family eventually moved north to the coal fields when the Tin Mines started to close.

More grand photos @DSB and @Wherenext glad each of you are having good trips away.
Good to read that you have sourced Meg's piltchards @richardandros handy to have spies on the lookout for you. The lady should be very pleased with all your efforts!!
@Goldie146 you both will be relieved that things are going to plan while you are away. Are you any further forward with the results of the TB in your herd?
It started of quite dull this morning but soon brightened up with the sun coming out and the temperature rose to the mid 20's. We took a walk up Lathkill Dale this morning from Conksbury Bridge, past the old mill, which is still being restored, as far as the old mine. Because it has been so dry there was no water in the river upstream from before the mill, and much of it is clogged by plants. There were lots of butterflies about, but too flighty to get a decent photo of any single one.
Essential food shopping in Bakewell after lunch, then another walk from the van, exploring more of the local foot

Glad you had a good day out @Wherenext. Thanks for the photos - Anderton Boat Lift looks interesting - must vist next time we're up Northwich way. It seems to to the same job as the Falkirk Wheel, which we visited a couple of years back. Hope you also had a good day @Goldie146
Today weve bee down the Lizard peninsular.... past Goonhilly 'Earth Station' and on to Roskillys for an ice cream....
.…then on to Kennack Sands....
......I did manage a paddle in the sea - that's as advrenturous as it gets these days!! 🤣🤣

@nelliethehooker - The TB issue is complicated and more complicated than I completely understand. There are more micro….somethings involved. Discussions and meetings and investigations are ongoing. One day maybe? Who knows. I don’t. Meanwhile life goes on.

Phew. Hope those folks out touring with dogs finding some shade for them.
We were a bit tardy in rising this morning so decided to go for a local walk, after moving the Van from pitch 2 to pitch 1. Long story that I won't bore you with. Took all of 5 minutes
Didn't go mad with walk so back at Van for 1pm so decided to walk to the pub for lunch. Sitting in the shade now. We're thinking of leaving late tonight to avoid heat due tomorrow.

Scorchio here🥵 Our hound is laid out in front of a very big fan. We are about to hit our pool, after a thrilling morning going to the tip🤣 OH is spraying part of MG, which apparently needs this kind of heat……..🤷♀️

Warm here in Cornwall today too @Takethedogalong. Does that look like a wine glass as well, @Wherenext ? 🙂

We have big wine glasses here @Wherenext ... 🤣🤣.🤣🤣...

Great pics @DSB. That’s one of my favourite places and I don’t mean Costa🙄

@DSB I can see our favourite beach on your third photo🤩 Porth Kidney, the other side of the River Hayle. It’s a very dog friendly beach, but you do have a bit of a stroll to get there, so it seldom gets as busy as the Godrevy side. If you get there early, there’s usually parking by Lelant Church, St Uny. The church is very old, and very lovely, and there are one or two nice pubs in Lelant. A nice drive round the back of the village as well, you end up at Lelant Saltings, and can sit on the little station platform and watch for some interesting bird life, always Little Egrets down there. Have you explored the old mining area around Botallack? Botallack Manor Farmhouse was “Nampara” in the original Poldark series, some good birdwatching around there as well.

@Tinwheeler 🤣🤣🤣
@Takethedogalong - We've been there in the past, but not recently... especially as we're currently withour a dog (😢) We quite like Godrevy... not National Trust members at present, but we don't need to pay parking with a disabled badge.. 🙂

Fingers crossed that they can come up with a solution to suit all parties @Goldie146
More grand photos @DSB you are certainly making the most of your time in Cornwall.
Just the perfect weather for sitting in your pool
, @Takethedogalong I hope the fan was good enough to keep the hound cool.

Hope you got home from your trip in the relative cool this evening @Wherenext
We missed a couple of hour's sleep last night, as one of the two dogs in the unit behind us, and which were sleeping in their car, started barking at midnight, which startled us awake, and that continued for about 30 mins, and of course It then took a while for us to get back to sleep. Needless to say words were spoken to their owner in the morning!!
It has been a scorcher here too, too hot really for both OH and Flyte, who could not settle inside or out, even in the shade. We did take a shortish walk mid morning and then I did another by myself during the afternoon, across to Middleton and down the lengthy of Bradford Dale again. The locals were taking full advantage of the deepest pool, close to Youlgreave, to cool off. It has now cooled down quite a bit and it is very pleasant now sat outside as I type this onehanded, with a glass of chilled beer in the other.
Middleton Hall, built in 1824 by Thomas Bateman, who rebuilt the entire village. (The best photo I could get of the building)

Great pictures @DSB, @nelliethehooker and @Wherenext. You all look as though you are having/have had such wonderful trips away and visited some lovely places. We are feeling very disappointed today as we were supposed to be meeting up with some very dear friends that we haven't seen for ages at Easton Walled Gardens but after a long telephone conversation last night decided that it would be unwise given the high temperatures forecast (and also our ages 😕) so will hopefully re-convene some other time. We were so looking forward to it and I had hoped to post some lovely photos on here. We are now going to make an early dash to Waitrose to do our supermarket shop before it gets too hot.
We had a lovely spell of rain last Sunday, it was most refreshing and the garden loved it. We had a very enjoyable meal out with friends for Sunday lunch and the friend that I mentioned that is retiring (aged 84) from teaching special needs children is now going to volunteer to teach adults to read and write. There is no stopping her. She had been threatening to retire for some years and then kept going back. Her husband said she has done more farewell tours than Frank Sinatra!
@Takethedogalong The roses that we have bought are Supertrooper (a floribunda) and Aphrodite (a hybrid tea) and our daughter gave OH for his birthday My Lovely Dad (also a hybrid tea). Aphrodite is particularly lovely. We might buy another floribunda at some point to even things up.
Other than that not a lot to report. I have been watering the garden and doing a bit of gardening in the evenings (mostly dead heading) when the weather is cooler. We have seen more butterflies and bees in our garden than we have seen for many years. I did my usual stint on the Cathedral shop (nice and cool in there) when it was surprisingly busy.
Keep cool everyone and drink plenty of fluids.

Had the easiest of journeys home last night. Hardly any traffic, which definitely won't be the case today. I pity one of our fellow tourers on site, making a long journey back today to Lincoln. 4 hours in this heat.
Off to do our food shopping after a shower.
Pity about your trip @milliehull. Better safe than sorry though.

Sorry to hear you are unable to meet your friends @milliehull - fingers crossed that it won't be too long before ou can re-schedule. Please to hear you had a good journey home @Wherenext. The traffic can be so unpredictable... we were at a standstill on the A30 for around an hour on Wednesday - probably an accident, but never did find out the real rwason…

Pleased you had a good trip back @Wherenext - I agree, I wouldn't like doing four hours towing in this heat - even with the air con going full blast!
Haven't done much so far today - been staying inside out of the sun - just don't seem to be able to cope with these temperatures any more. I think you made a wise decision @milliehull - even though it must be a disappointment for you all.
In answer to @nelliethehooker 's earlier question - unusually we have nothing planned for this month - due to a dental appt on Monday (rearranged from when we were away last month - so I can't cancel again!) and a hospital appt on the 23rd. Next trip is to our favourite CS near Malton in the middle of August for two weeks around Ros's birthday. Really looking forward to that - nice easy tow - no narrow roads - and only just over an hour from home to a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing site😀.

Another doing very little here! With all blinds and curtains closed our lounge - since last night, is saying 29.... OH and the dog wiped out. OH more than the dog. I've moved into our rarely used garden room, much cooler. Will shift OH in a mo, not sure if cooler in the shade of the house on the patio. Will test that in a minute. OH health issues so not great at the best of times. I've worked too long in aircon set at 18 max to enjoy these temps!
@milliehull I think you made a very good call on your outing today however disappointing. We should have met Essex friends in Newmarket today, cancelled earlier in the week as he's tested positive for covid. Disappointing but a relief I think.
I was aiming to walk to our church to view knitted bible scenes on display, caught a glimpse of them at the history society last evening. Not even the church struck overly cool then. I can see the church from our house, less than 5 min walk - but decided to hope for better chance tomorrow 🫣.
I walked the dog at 0700 this morning, still not early enough! But stuck to the shady path. Home to admin work, which took longer than expected.
Yesterday quick stop at the building society in the city then on to Stamford with my not working vacuum 🥲. Fine on Tuesday, no juice, just brief light showing and disappearing fast Wednesday.Discovered the Vacuum House on an earlier potter around Stamford soon after we arrived. FANTASTIC service, sadly my vac, was my mum's probably purchased in the 1990's so owed us nothing, beyond repair - motor gone. Chance to try out vacs before choosing. This one is a SEBO. Last was a Miele. Much quieter but seems as good. Let's hope it gives as good service. As my mum would have said "it'll see me out" 🤣
Do your best to stay cool folks
