,I think I'm still getting them, @milliehull.... I rely on them for checking... ๐... Oddy enough, I got an email for your post yesterday (#66983), but didn't get one for your latest post aboue (#66991). I spotted it be because I had notification of KjjelNN's post - the one abouve yours....??!! A bit odd... if there's a 'delay' perhaps I'll get it later?
All good wishes to @Goldie146 ๐ข Sorry to hear you have had to go back to hospital. Fingers crossed that you'll get home soon...
David

@Goldie146 sorry to hear that you are back in hospital, do hope that you are home soon. It might be the busiest time on the farm but you probably are in the best place for recovery and you would only be tempted to help if at home. Iโm sure they will manage. Hope you are much better soon.
1 -
@Rowena - there does seem to be a problem - I'm not getting notifications either and there are quite a few of us who are having the same experience.
@Goldie146 - get well soon. So sorry to hear that you are back in hospital.
@DEBSC - hope your granddaughter is soon well again - she does seem to be going through the mill lately.
Tending to stay inside a lot - must admit, I find coping with this heat difficult. It's the one time I like the fact that our house is north facing at the back - we don't get any direct sun until late afternoon so it remains quite cool inside. Who said "the Brits are always complaining about the weather - but no one does anything about it!"

Just one of those days yesterday. Took car into town for two new tyres, walked a little way for OH to sit and get a cold drink. I went to pick up some bits for granddaughter. Walking back to get the car I thought OH looked a bit unwell. We arrived at hospital to visit granddaughter and gradually OH got worse, swollen legs and difficulty breathing. Iโve been asking him to make a Drs appointment for a couple of weeks but he wouldnโt. Granddaughter told him straight, so off to A&E. Not too busy so seen within 2 hours, then bloods, then X-ray, so now 4 hours. Dr has advised a heart problem. Then more bloods. We arrived at 3pm, still waiting for the second blood result at 11pm. OH still unwell and we hadnโt eaten so he decided to come home without waiting for second blood results and seeing Dr again. They phoned at 12 to say bloods ok but to see GP this morning. Heโs now being referred to the cardiac team. During the afternoon of waiting I popped back upstairs to see granddaughter, who had just fallen again and smacked her head. Now told strictly no getting out of bed unaccompanied. OH now here resting. We were supposed to be going to the caravan on Sunday but put it off, due to the heat, so due to go today instead. Cases all packed on the bed. Just off to unpack them all. (Just needed to unload, sorry.)
We have decided, after his diagnosis, to get him a motorised scooter. As he and I wonโt be able to lift a whole, heavy one into the car we are looking for one that comes to pieces and is lighter to lift in and out. Is anyone using one of these or knows someone who is and could recommend something.
1 -
Oh @DEBSC I'm sorry to read your post. You are having a very tough time as a family. I hope your OH gets to see the cardiac team swiftly. A shame you left the hospital, but completely understandable time and food wise. Basildon the Essex heart specialist hospital had a very good restaurant for staff and visitors - different prices and decent food and vending machines with sandwiches, microwave foods etc, oh yes and a microwave. Peterborough very similar.
I think it was @richardandros who was discussing/purchasing a mobility scooter. I'm glad you're OH has agreed to have one. My OH won't entertain one ๐ค. Mixed blessing, cos he has to walk, similar with blue badge - needed for wide door opening too.
Take good care of yourself . And best to all the patients, including yourself.

@DEBSC - we were sitting in Cafe Nero in Llandudno with MiL some months ago and a lady came in on a mobility scooter that folded up beside her table. She was opposite us and we were talking about it to her. It was very light and I seem to recall it was from a company called Windsor Scooters so check out their website. Good luck

Sorry to hear about all your issues @DEBSC You might want to look at getting a hoist for your car to lift scooter in and out. BIL had one fitted, made life a lot easier, but depends on car of course.
Red hot here again. We are putting our pool up, and gardening in the shade.

Returned from Rally about 40 minutes ago - mixed bag experience; new solar panels [2nd fixed120w panel to take roof panels to 300w total, plus a new portable 100w panel] plus new lithium battery and old camping hob + 1200w existing inverter performed brilliantly, heating water and cooking meals with no pressure [1.72Kwh generated yesterday from the roof panels, plus 380Wh from the portable panel], leaving the lpg almost untouched [operating fridge only]. Bad news is that a sunroof strut plastic support clip snapped as I opened the sun roof [became brittle and the May heatwave was a step too far] on Friday, and superglue+ cable ties failed to provide even a temporary cure. The plastic support has a clevis pin [ ? re name] inserted at manufacture, so it looks like I shall have to hacksaw the old clevis pin to swing the mechanism free and permit the residual plastic support to be removed, then hope that the new support collar + clevis pin matches up]. Also had the bathroom cold tap resume intermittent splutters with occasional madcap full power outputs - looks like a microswitch is failing, but I did discover a theoretical way of removing the side of the bathroom cabinet without ripping out the entire bathroom - the pipework looks as though it was installed at the factory and then the Burstner M/Home body built on top, presumably to deter anyone from replacing the microswitch themselves [I am aware of a Burstner M/HHome owner who had his bathroom dismantled to replace a shower tap and he was given a discounted bill only ยฃ930 for the labour for customer loyalty, plus a silly amount for the new tap]
'1 step forward and 3 steps backwards' at present โฆ The new upholstery works well and is comfortable; just need to contact the upholsterer for a slight trim of one seat base to remove a stretch mark, and to have the 2 Captain's seats reupholstered plus the overhead cab shelf and drop down bed trim reupholstered. I'll probably take one of the new cushions to my bankruptcy hearing when I get the bill โฆ Might as well be comfy as I slide into penury โฆ ๐

@DEBSC - so sorry to hear about your OH. That's exactly what happened to me just before Christmas except that it was just my ankles that were swelling up - not the whole leg. Did they not do an ECG? That was how my GP could see exactly what was happening to my heart - which turned out not to be pumping as effectively as it should. (My blood tests were also normal).
However - there is good news. He put me on a drug called Dapaglifozin. It's primary use is for treating diabetes but it was discovered during trials about 10 years ago that it also had a beneficial effect on the heart. After a bit of fiddling about with the dose, I am now, more or less, back to normal in terms of breathing and I haven't had swollen ankles since a week after taking it!
I did buy a mobility scooter - mainly because of my osteoarthritis that's affecting virtually all of my joints and I can't walk more than 50 yds or so without being in pain. I was also very reluctant to get one and did a lot of research. I chose the Atto Sport - mainly out of vanity!! I really didn't want to be seen on one and still don't use it at home where I can be seen that those that know me. It's a brilliant piece of kit - marvellous engineering - very innovative design and just the sort of thing I feel comfortable being seen on. The downside is that it was quite expensive - just over ยฃ3500. Yes, I know it's possible to buy a second hand scooter for as little as ยฃ500 - but not of the sort I was prepared to accept. As I said - vanity!!
The big plus is that it breaks down into two bits - each weighing about 15kg - so whilst not exactly light, it can be lifted into the boot of my car quite easily. The manufacturers actually say it can be stored in two overhead lockers on a plane - but there's absolutely no chance of me doing that!
Here are some pictures and I'll also try to post the video of the salesman who came to our house - demonstrating it - but I'm not sure if that will load on here. Hope this helps and best wishes to OH for a speedy improvement in his health.
Richard
Sorry - video won't upload and the red cushion on mine was an extra! Googling "Atto" should take you to their website. Alternatively, if you ask @Rowena to send you my email address and you contact me, I can email it to you.

@DEBSC I suspect the hot weather is not helping with your OH legs? I usually wear compression socks but because it was so hot yesterday I didn't bother and as a result I had a swollen left foot and leg. Obviously best to get it checked out. Hope you get it sorted. I know one of my BP medications is well known for causing such symptoms.

Stinking hot here, took this about 3.30pm, on our open front porch
The sun had just got round there, so not a shade figure, but the humidity isn't causing the 'I'm melting in heat' issue.
We are under the weather warning for thunderstorms until 10pm, be interesting but expect they'll miss us!

Thank you all for the mobility scooter tips. Iโll check out Windsor scooters later. My daughter had a hoist fitted in her car, before her back op, when she had to use a wheelchair. She never got on with it and it took up a lot of space. She no longer needs it so I have asked her about it but she sold it. Thank you @richardandros Iโll show OH your post. I will also tell him about your pills. Yes they did an ecg. Dr said probably no op and itโs unlikely to get much better. Same as you itโs not pumping efficiently and he already has a murmur. Thatโs why we decided on the mobility scooter. We will just have to see what the cardiologist says. I just picked up his diuretic pills and he is now resting on the bed with his feet up, hard to keep him up there though. It might be better when the weather cools.

Sweltering here again, as far as we are concerned, but luckily not anything as bad as in the south.
DD came up about 11.30, , so we hitched up the van to her new towbar, managed to fit her Platinum Milenco Grand Aeros , and headed off for her second lesson. From here we went towards Clydebank, braved the huge roundabout, west and over the Erskine Bridge, all the way out to Port Glasgow then back over the bridge, west again to the first roundabout at Dumbarton and home via the scary roundabout, about 90 minutes in all.
She is gaining confidence, roundabouts and not too busy Motorways are fine, but she did not like it when we met a very large lorry taking up more than itโs fair share of the road just before we got home! There was also one bend on the Mway where she felt she was going too fast (only 50mph) so decided to to brake, but that went fine. Next time we need to go through the Clyde Tunnel so she gets used to the lanes, and try out the M8 to Edinburgh as that will be their route for their first trip.
Took us a while to get the van back onto the driveway and fit all the security devices, but then we had lunch and discussed the work at SILโs flat before she headed home again.
Just wondering when SIL is going to try towing, apparently he is not that keen yet. Not sure whether he would let me sit with him to try it, or if DD will have to do it, he is a bit โstrangeโ when it comes to learning things, or to helping me with thingsโฆโฆ..in fact often really โstrangeโ!
Yesterday, when we brought the bits of timber for their balustrade to their house, I had them on the roof bars, which for a vertically challenged 83 year old are quite high. So I said to him, โI could do with some help getting these downโ, to which he replied, as he scrolled on his phone, โshe (DD) is inside getting a drinkโ. OH reckons I made a mistake in not initially saying โcould you help me get these bits of wood off the roof of the car pleaseโ. I will know how to phrase things next time! ๐คฃ๐คฃ2 -
Sweltering all day here, and we had thunder rumbling overhead for about 90 minutes, but barely a drop of rain. I have been pottering all day in garden, but had to come in every hour or so for a drink and cool off. Pool is now filling, will be another day or so to get water quality as it should be, but itโs looking oh so tempting. Very cold though๐ฅถ needs a day of sunshine to heat it up.
Young lad drowned at the Country Park nearby, one of three today I think in Yorkshire. Very sad.

Update to Post #66999. Bought a generic Sunroof Support Plastic Bolt at the local Caravan Dealers for ยฃ15.50 [Ebay versions 10 for ยฃ3.85-ยฃ7.50 + P&P but only photos, whereas I could actually see this version and the presence of the 'Idiot's Guide to Fitting' for reassurance!]. Not quite a perfect fit, but a couple of gentle taps with a camping rubber mallet onto a sacrificial piece of wood protected the aluminium sleeve
Also bought a microswitch for the bathroom sink but shall save the delights of tring to replace that for tomorrow and the succeeding 3 days โฆ I have the words of the old 'Right said Fred, climbing up a ladder, with his crowbar, gave a mighty blow โฆ' and an image of Bernard Cribbins looming large in my brain!

Lovely sunny warm day here on the Ayrshire coast love this weather. We decided to take a drive along the coast today and for chips then sat looking out to sea admiring the view lots of people on the beach.
@DEBSC sorry to hear about your OH hope things pick up soon

Good breeze got up about 1830. Several storms rolling around, very low lightening. Dog not keen and neither am I. BUT a good steady rain ๐ Long may it last. I have 1 completely empty waterbutt and another almost empty. Not to mention hearing the ground sigh with relief. One happy bunny

Warning! Rhetorical question incoming. Why would a You Tube automaton decide that I might like to view the Met Office local forecast for 13/12/2025? I really can't believe it was a human being making that decision but then againโฆSome things just defeat me.๐คท

So sorry to hear of your OH's and Granddaughter's problems. Hope things are soon much better @DEBSC
We have not had the very warm weather experienced by others, although it was sunny early on the clouds rolled in during the day and it is much cooler this evening. Decided on another walk from the van in the morning before the sun was fully overhead and then visited Dunninald Castle Gardens after lunch. After going round the Walled Garden, where we were given a large bunch of Rhubarb, we did the woodland walk, well sheltered from the sun which suited OH and Flyte. The woods by the house were a mass of Bluebells, which had gone over now but must have been magnificent a few weeks earlier. The breeze grew stronger in the late afternoon and it is quite cool now.

Lovely day yesterday as we met up with daughter and grandtwins at SWT Carlton Marshes. Children were fascinated by the amount and variety of dragon flys and couldnโt get over the size of the Fen Raft Spider.
Tomorrow we are off for a long weekend to the Thetford Forest Club Site. Should be marginally cooler and more comfortable

We had a rare evening out in York last night following an appointment. There was an event โCarnival of the Animalsโ on in the Minster, an idea to attract young children to classical music, not sure it worked for some of them but nice idea, anyway we went in (cheaper than normal admission fee) and had an enjoyable half hour listening to Saint-Saensโ music featuring different animals played on the organ. Sounded impressive.
OH talking about the organ with the host. Carefully cropped to avoid showing the children.
Much of the area was closed to visitors during the evening but still beautiful.
West window. The Rose window is undergoing restoration at present along with checking for any remaining damage from the fire in 1984.

Lovely photos @heddlo. Sounds a good type of concert to get the children interested in Classical Music, a bit like Peter and the Wolf. I watched a YT a few months ago about the reasons the Cathedral at York was sinking and the work done to alleviate it. Quite fascinating. Quite a while since we visited it so it will be on our Winter list.
Charged with levelling off the bushes in the front garden this morning with the trimmer whilst OH cleared some beds of Forget-me-knots. When I came in she had laid out a full armoury of first aid care with everything that could possibly be needed for me.๐คฃ Cheeky so and so. As usual, though, she knew best although I've had worse from the Holly.
Sorting out some appointments for MiL this afternoon. Just bloods etc.
Not quite as stifling today as that breeze has picked up.
Good to see you educating the Gkids @Oneputt. ๐๏ธ Enjoy your stay at Thetford. I assume you'll be heading up the hill to try a bit of Nightjar spotting in the evenings.

Beautiful photos @heddlo - I assume the organist played his Symphony No. 3 - adapted for Babe - aka "Pig"๐ - we loved that film. I may have the wrong window but I think it was the West one that the Freemasons of the Province of North and East Yorkshire raised the funds necessary for its restoration - quite a few years ago now.
Correction - it was the St William Window!

@Oneputt I thought you were already at the Thetford site when you showed the photos of the Tanks the other day. However enjoy your weekends there now!
Smashing photos, @heddlo the Minster is certainly a very impressive building.
It has been cloudy and much cooler today, with the temperature no higher than 16C much to the relief of OH and Flyte. The sun did eventually appear but with it a cool breeze. It was our day for visiting Balgavies Loch Nature Reserve to see the Ospreys, which did put in an appearance. Had a pleasant walk right around the loch before lunch and then went onto Pitmuies Garden. After walking through the excellent Walled Garden we did some of the estate walk, along the river and found Black Loch. We have never been before but will go back sometime for a full day.

Heavy thunderstorm started around 10pm last night and was still rumbling along some 5 hours later. It didn't keep OH awake though. My snoring did that. I seem to have missed the worst of the storm by sleeping through it.
OH a bit grumpy today. Can't figure out why.๐
Hazy sun today but hard to breathe whilst gardening.
Hope one and all keeping hydrated and safe.
