Well done @Takethedogalong. Have a great day - although not that great😋! I want to be the one celebrating😀.
Hope you're feeling a bit better by now @Wherenext.
Pleased OH's op went well @Bakers2 - and I'm sure the next one will, as well.

DD now has a towbar on her Kodiaq. She left home at 05.30 today to drive to Cramlington, which apparently is somewhere north of Newcastle, found the Skoda dealer without problems. She has spent the day in a local library, working, towbar fitting went well, software update went without a hitch, not sure what testing has been done, but sounds like it should all be working , so she will be on her way home after getting something to eat. Takes about 3 hours each way.
Daddy is also away working and will be late home, so we are doing dinner and bedtime.
Very grey here all day, a bit chilly too.

@Takethedogalong the food in The Ship was excellent as usual we have had a few meals in there over the years always make a point of going there when in the area yesterday we actually only went in for a drink but once we saw others eating ig decided just to get dinner. Didn’t cycle up the hill at Saltburn left the bike at the van and drove out to Saltburn SWMBO isn’t a cyclist last time she was on a bike was about 40 years ago lol

If you fancy a trip up onto the moors @Francis can highly recommend The Lion Inn up on Blakey Ridge. We usually head up via Hutton Le Hole, so there’s the Ryedale Folk Museum up there as well. Good to hear Ship Inn is still nice👍

You did well getting those tickets, @Takethedogalong hope you have no problems with the train journey, and enjoy your day and the game.
Fine photos @Francis guess the site will be filling up for the holiday weekend now.
Glad that your OH's operation went well, @Bakers2 fingers crossed that the next one happens as arranged and that it also is a success.
I am surprised that there wasn't a Skoda dealer closed to home for your DD to get the towbar fitted @KjellNN but hope that it is working fine on your new caravan.

The rain from the night and morning eventually cleared and the rest of the day was dry, sunny and warm. We took a walk along by the burn in Drontochty Forest before lunch then called on at St Palladius Church on the way back to the van. The Church was built in 1885 for Rev. Gammell of Drumochty Castle. St Palladius, is believed to be the first Bishop of Scotland in the 5thC.
The churchyard had numerous colourful Rhododendrons

Decent day here today grey but warm. We took a trip up to Whitely Bay and had a nice walk along the shore front that was a treat as the last time we were there it was pouring. After a walk along the shore we had a lovely fish tea at one of the chippys close to the Spanish city sat in there and admired the view out of the window. Also good to visit the circle area with the lyrics to Dire Straits Tunnel of love I love dire straits and it’s one of my favourite songs There was a wedding going on at the Spanish city so lots of people around getting photos taken etc glad we visited today as I think it may be very busy there over the weekend. Been raining on and off since about 7 but forecast looking good for tomorrow not sure what our plan is yet but hoping to get to cook on the Cadac tomorrow night. Site filling up already expecting it to be almost full tomorrow night which will make a change as it’s been quite quiet here during the week

So were we and our daughter Nellie! There are plenty of dealers, those she approached at first said yes, but then either never got back to her , or said “physical towbar is no problem but we cannot guarantee that the software will work! However once the towbar is in place it is yours, whether the electrics work or not.”
The place she went to today are one of the 2 in the north of England recommended by other caravanning Skoda owners, the other was a bit further away, in Bridlington. They also offered the best price , the use of a courtesy car so she could drive to a local library to work, and even washed the car for her.

@Francis Margaret has fond memories of the Spanish City fro her youth living in Newcastle. We did visit a few years ago after it had been restored. I seem to recall a very nice cafe upstairs?

I did an extra shift on the Cathedral shop today, as someone was on holiday, and it was such a lovely surprise when @Bakers2 popped in with her eldest grandson. It was so lovely to see them both and have a chat. Then later on my grand-daughter popped in with our youngest great grandson who was all smiles. So it was a very sociable morning (which made up slightly for the card machine deciding to have a hissy fit at the end of the morning!) Great excitement when I arrived as the Fire Brigade were there having a practice.
Thank you for the extra photo of the bluebells @nelliethehooker
We love Saltburn @Francis. We stayed in that area a lot when we had our caravan and since have had a couple of holidays in a cottage with our N.Ireland family at Staithes. Such a lovely area.
I didn't understand all the football chat either 😅

I dont seem to be getting the email notifications of posts. Perhaps @Rowena could sort it out sometime please.

The first time in over a year I went to a Garden Centre today. Eldest son had a day off so he volunteered to take us. Glad I now have a Blue Badge so it wasn't a route march to get to the entrance! I am still a bit uncetain about such expideditions as I am stil not sure how far I can walk but we managed and now have lots of summer bedding to put into pots. Also going to repeat last years experiment of growing some tomatoes in a growbag.

@milliehull it’s a lovely town we always make a point of visiting there when down this way love a walk along the pier. @DavidKlyne Spanish city looks great now such a nice historic building glad to see it’s still getting used.
Lovely warm sunny day here today out a cycle this morning then spent this afternoon in a little town called Yarn Never been before but such a lovely place had a retro football shop with lots of old shirts a bit pricey though so didn’t buy anything. Saw an old Mercedes like mine parked in the main street so got talking to the owner had a nice chat about Mercs for a while. Got back to the van and had a pint in the beer garden at the pub across the road then headed back to the van and cooked dinner on the Cadac had a great time sitting outside the van with a drink enjoying the sun. Now just sitting out in the awning site very busy now weather looking promising for tomorrow too
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

I thought I had added a couple of photos of the Fire Brigade practice at the Cathedral but apparently not 🤔. I will have another go

Glad that it was worth your daughter's trip to get the towbar fitted @KjellNN One does wonder how some of those dealers closer to home have any customers the way they acted (or didn't)!
More fine photos @Francis you appear to be having good weather and it has been warmer there than here.
That's an unusual place for a practice @milliehull

We have had a dry day after rain through the night again, but not as sunny or warm as further south. Visited Edzell Castle and then the Lindsey Chapel before lunch, followed by a walk in the town's park.
The Castle was built in the 1500 by David Lindsey, 9th Earl of Crawford, and the Walled Garden was added in 1604.
The Great Tower
A view of the Walled Garden
The Dalhousie Arch, erected in 1887 to commemorate the 13th Earl of Dalhousie and his wife, who died within hours of each other from different causes, which spans the road into Edzell from the south.

And me!

@milliehull I wouldn’t want to be going up that ladder. I suppose it’s good they practice as a fire up there would be very challenging.
@nelliethehooker thats a neatly trimmed hedge in the walled garden, someone has been working hard.

The Fire Service practice regularly on 'real' buildings so that come the dreaded day, they know how to go about things at that particular site. They familiarise themselves with lots of areas and buildings and it’s nothing new or unusual.

@nelliethehooker as @Tinwheeler says the Fire Brigade often practice on 'real buildings' and they particuarly come to the Cathedral as we had a catastrophic fire in 2001 and if it hadn't been for the quick and efficient action by the Fire Brigate we would have lost the building. We are eternally grateful to them. Always lovely to see them. However apparently on Thursday they had to come out 'for real' as an event was being set up for an evening performance and the outside team setting up the event used the 'dry ice' without consulting anyone in the Cathedral and it set the fire alarms off. They were not popular!!
I would not have wanted to up that ladder either @DEBSC I went weak at the knees just watching them!
Beautiful day here - wall to wall sunshine 🌞

@milliehull good to know they practice these things just in case the worst was to happen
Another warm sunny morning here just sitting in the awning having a coffee. Not sure what the plan for today yet hope everyone else is getting this weather so unusual to be nice on a bank holiday normally the bank holiday is the signal for the rain to start

Fabulous day with elder grandson Friday. He arrived around 0815 and made the jam sandwiches for our picnic. Sunny and warm.
Off to the cathedral for dinosaur. We arrived as the fire engine was packing up, I hoped it was a practice. Apparently not according to milliehull.
Inside for a look see 1030 booking, certainly a difference in temperature. Caught sight of milliehull at the shop. We were outside for our picnic, in the shade, for 1150. He ate well… We were lucky enough to see the vicar who has just left their parish to take up a position at the cathedral for a chat. Back inside for a proper look without an empty tummy 🫣😉.
A lovely man was working on the faceless clock from 1689. Grandson fascinated and chap had lots of patience. Then we spent time checking out the effigy's before heading back to the shop for a souvenirs and a lovely chat with @milliehull Nice surprise and an added bonus.
home for a quiet afternoon, with more feeding/grazing/games. Before heading out to cricket training with him, taking more food 🫣. His dad arrived to watch soon after the start, he brought food too 🤣. He didn't bring the grand dog as too hot for her in the car, so I called in there on the way to collect her for the weekend. Dinner was getting on for 2000. They are camping at a farmer friend, has been a regular for this weekend for last few years. Bigger gathering this year expected with about 60 folk. DIL relieved to learn there'll be portaloos this year as opposed to a hole in the ground 🤣🤣. Hopefully it'll be a good time. He's married to a Russian lady and so many of her friends who live in the Uk come too. Meadow by the river Nene so water activities too.
Treated myself to a slow start this morning, but that made the dog walk warm, but we chose shaded. Caught up on paperwork jobs and some washing and that's me for the day. Stratch dinner tonight after a lounge in the shade.
Lovely to read folks news and see photos, I'm quite envious of @nelliethehooker and his trips, its stopped for us, but we did have a good crack at it whilst we could. I love gardening but am mighty glad those hedges aren't my responsibility 🫣. Far too warm for any gardening here today. Thankfully 😉.
I hope everyone is enjoying some sunny warm weather and has a good weekend.

This is the aftermath of the dreadful fire in Peterboroough Cathederal in 2001

It was quite chilly here this morning, thick cloud and 16 degrees, definitely jumper weather. By 3pm the sun had come out and a bit warmer, but cooled again now. Went to visit our granddaughter in hospital, she begged to be taken outside in her wheelchair for a while as she’s been in there a week and fed up inside. We did take her outside for a bit earlier in the week, complete with her drip, however today the nurse vetoed it. They have moved her to a room right next to the nurses station so that they can respond quickly if she collapses, so no chance of sneaking her out for a bit of air. OH gave her the password for some film accounts so she’s going to try that tonight on her lap top. ‘Mum forgot to take my washing Nan’, - so it’s all in the machine now, hopefully a good drying day tomorrow.
I’m sorting out my summer clothes, I seem to have quite a lot, (put me in mind of @Wherenext MIL) probably because it’s rarely hot enough here to wear them so they don’t ever get worn out. I drink very little alcohol these days but my garden seat and a glass of red is calling. Just fish cakes and salad for tea.

@Takethedogalong - hope you had a good day out at Wembley in spite of the result. Actually, I think justice was done at the end of the day and hopefully we won't have any further legal shenanigans!
Looking forward to an equally successful day for the City of Hull next weekend now!

@milliehull as you, and @Tinwheeler, have said it is great that the FB do practice on important buildings as your photos from 2001 demonstrate.
Shame about the result as far as you are concerned @Takethedogalong but hope you have had a good day.
Hope your team has a successful day next weekend @moulesy I suspect that the game will be a lot closer than the other night. I wonder which of the coaches got the most out of that game!
Fingers crossed that your granddaughter's stay in hospital is not a long one @DEBSC she has certainly gone through the mill recently.

Up early this morning for OH to get the washing done while we were on EHU before moving on to an offgrid THS a short drive away at Montrose airfield, which has a huge open area great for walking ones dog. The day has been quite cloudy but with a warm wind so all washing dried nicely, but we have just had a light shower of rain, and now we have a cloudy red sky! Around 35 other units at the THS, less than we expected.

Another lovely day here today very warm and bright skies. Took a walk down to the white water centre this morning surprisingly nothing on which is strange considering it’s a Saturday bank holiday. Took a drive up towards Sunderland this afternoon and went to the north east air sea and land museum right next to the Sunderland Nissan car factory. Great place lots of good planes and vehicles on display and a mock up of a war time street lots of history well worth a visit and cheaper entry for some of us of a certain age well worth a visit for anyone in the area we spent a good couple of hours there. Came back to the van and cooked pizza on the Cadac while sitting out in the sun headed over to the pub and had a couple of drinks in the beer garden now back at the van. Such a treat to have this weather on a bank holiday it hit 27 degrees here today
@Takethedogalong shame about the result today most of Middlesborough must have been watching it we were in Asda at half 4 this afternoon and it was empty

Inevitably, I have to disagree with some of the sentiments expressed earlier (sorry @Takethedogalong !!😀) - what a brilliant result, yesterday. The Tigers have actually done it - gone from the brink of relegation at the end of last season, to promotion to the Premier League. What an achievement🤗.
I deliberately didn't listen to it on the radio (don't have Sky sports) because whenever I do, they always seem to lose! Just kept checking my phone for the latest result and when it got to 90'+8 and it was still 0 - 0, I couldn't stand the tension anymore. When I checked again - knowing full well that it would all be over, it was with some trepidation that I looked at the result and there it was 1-0 to City. Couldn't believe it😀😀😂.
Although I don't follow the rugby @moulesy - I agree - all we need know is for the Robins to do the same next weekend and that puts Hull firmly on the map!
