We are away in the van just local but good to be away. Got here just after 3 very cold but nice blue skies didn’t fancy cooking so we went and got chips from the village chippy which was nice. Weather has turned now pouring and windy so we don’t plan on going back out tonight. Not sure of tomorrows plan yet we shall see
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Sorry about the hedgehog @Bakers2 I always feel so sad when I see a dead hedgehog.☹️
Love the new outfit @Wherenext hope everything works out ok for you.
We nearly caught up with you @nelliethehooker 🤣 We stayed near Spofforth last night after a day at Harlow Carr. Got all set up, and then 7.30pm our leisure battery died. No hook up, so we were left doing old fashioned camping, but we coped. Early night, into Knaresborough to pick up a new battery, 10 minutes to fit and we were off again, had a nice day at Pateley Bridge, and over the tops near Stump Cross Caverns. Battery owes us nothing, it was the one that was on the MH when we bought it 12 years ago🤭
OH’s belated birthday treat from Mum and Sis tomorrow, steam train ride with afternoon tea.
Site is lovely here. There’s only us, and loads of Red Kites.

Glad you have found a good unit that has been well looked after @Wherenext Using your free night next week?
Hope you have a good weekend away @Francis Is that the Maybole site?
Sorry to hear about the stitching on your caravan cover @Oneputt we have had the same problem. OH has had to sew it up in quite a few places. The idea of the style is great but a couple of extra millimetres in the width would reduce the stress on the zips and stitching. Have a safe tow down to Rooksbury and a pleasant stay there.
That's grand service from your old battery @Takethedogalong It is a shame that we were heading off just as you were so close by. Enjoy your train ride tomorrow. Did you see that there is a closed road stages rally on Sunday around the Castle Bolton area?
We managed to get away dry this morning after rain over night, but ran through rain on the way to Bedale. Thankfully the sun came out, we were able to set up in the dry and the caravan cover dried nicely. Managed a few dry walk from the site but it has been raining again for the last hour.

Spent several hours today at our son’s place, finishing off the work on the old van, though the boss has not inspected it as yet, so she may well find something I have missed!
Cleaned the floor, ready for the carpets to go back in later, cleaned the fridge and the bathroom, removed the last of our bits and pieces, amazing amount of stuff lying in our “caravan room” now, OH and DD will sort it all out before anything is allowed into the new van. Also have to take over the carpets and extra cushions to put in it, once we have extracted it from son’s yard.Next is to organise the paperwork, and set a firm date for taking delivery of the new van.
Strange weather today, sun, wind, lashing rain off and on. Son’s house sits quite high up and they can see the famous Ailsa Craig from their garden, so almost always windy there.
Tomorrow DD and I will be casting another “concrete boot”, then on Sunday we are meeting them at Ikea for lunch and a look at the new bedding we will need for the single beds in the new van.

Good luck with the change and repacking of your caravan @KjellNN. We've been repacking our newest addition today. Glad to see we had a couple of empty spaces left over. I'm sure they'll be filled by OH.
Had to collect my meds from town today so OH asked me to pick up 3 boxes of Glasses wipes. She couldn't remember the name of the shop but told me it was the old Woolworths. That disappeared a long time ago but strangely we still came across Woolworths as a shop in the Netherlands for quite a while after it closed down in the UK. Not sure if its still going. Anyway I found what I was looking for and saw that the price was £1 per box of 50 but there was a special offer on for 3, just what I needed. Always a sucker for a bargain I saw I could have the 3 for £3. How's that for a bargain eh?🤣 £1 for 1 or £3 for 3.
It was supposed to rain this afternoon but has stayed dry and warm out of the breeze.
We, unfortunately won't be able to take up the Special offer of a free night @nelliethehooker as we had to cancel our booking as it coincided with the exchange of vans earlier this week.
Enjoy your trip to Embsay @Takethedogalong. Site looks like the ground has dried up a good bit for you to get on it.

@Wherenext nice van.
@Bakers2 shame about the little hedgehog, few about these days. How is Dora 6 already!
Busy week, scan in Exeter took up most of the day, huge very nice restaurant in the hospital, staff one side everyone else the other, proper cooked dinners available. After being injected told don’t go near babies or pregnant women and travel in the back of the car home. We didn’t as we stopped off in Exeter after so hoped I was less radioactive by then. Surgeons secretary phoned just 2 days later about the scan I now have an appointment with surgeon for middle of April. Just hoping the appointment would have been sooner if urgent, fingers crossed.
2am the following day phone call from granddaughters house mate, ambulance called. Her Mum away, her Dad not answering and her sisters cars broken down so I spent the night with her in A&E, leaving her at 6am. They’d only sent her home 2 days before after being admitted and giving her a lumber puncture, due to suspected meningitis. I’m sure she was sent home due to lack of beds. Anyway she was admitted again and we have just been to visit and she’s looking a little brighter, they are still not sure what’s wrong, she can’t sit up without great pain, so still laying flat. When I left A&E ward in the week at 6am I had to walk through the waiting room, it was packed, many old people sitting in chairs with blankets round them, others not so old, laying across 2 chairs, some laying on the floor, goodness knows how long they had been waiting. It’s very scary, especially as we age. We just try to eat well and keep as active as we can. Our daughter had to return home from her short break away, and Gdaughter has had lots of visitors today. I don’t think much will be done now until Monday.

Nice day today weather not great but we decided to take a drive down to Portpatrick which is a lovely scenic drive down the coast some great views takes just over an hour from here. Had a lovely lunch at our usual place The Harbour House Hotel near the harbour as usual it was lovely not the cheapest but always lovely. It stopped raining long enough for us to get a short walk around the harbour area. On a nice day you can see Ireland and the top of the Lake District from there but not today very dull and misty still a nice afternoon though. Back at the van now the sun hasn’t long went down but it’s very chilly outside. Remember everyone the clocks go forward tonight.
@nelliethehooker yes we are at The Ranch one of our favourite local sites we’ve been coming here for over 20 years great site with good facilities and nice rural views

You can see the change in weather from your photos, @Francis it is nice down that coast.
It is a shame you missed out on the free night @Wherenext hopefully you will be able to take up the Autumn one. So much for multi-buy bargains!
Sorry to hear that your granddaughter is back in hospital @DEBSC fingers crossed that she has improved enough to be allowed home on Monday. Hope your surgeon gives you good news when you see him.

Don't forget the clocks go forward an hour tonight - 'spring forward'

We did a bit of shopping in Bedale before heading across to Masham where we has a pleasant walk in the sunshine along by the R Ure. We drove back through Snape to view the castle. By chance I spotted the path to St Mary's Chapel behind the present castle, which was especially interesting. The castle has strong association with Catherine Parr, the Nevile family and the Cecil family too. The castle is partially inhabited and owned by the Millbank family of Thorpe Perrow.

We got home this morning after a nice weekend at The Ranch AS site in Maybole site not very busy mainly due to the weather I suspect. Lovely day in Portpatrick yesterday and spent the rest of the time just relaxing. The site has been given a freshen up over the winter the grounds are kept immaculate hoping to get back down there soon. Easy 45 min tow home today van filthy but will have to leave it for now as it’s pouring outside so just put van back in it’s space on the drive. Won’t be away again now until mid April as we have some things on over the next couple of weeks. The Princess Royal was visiting our town thiis morning so when we got home we went a drive down and managed to catch a glimpse of her

Well it's been a while, and it seems Club-together has changed 🤣 so apologies if I mess this up. 🤭
I thought it was about time I ventured back to say hello and catch up with things, We are still out and about with the caravan. Although only had one weekend away this year so far, used our free night at Cirencester last weekend. Have Read a few posts and good to see many of you are still posting your news. Will try and catch up with a few more posts, enjoying all the photos.

@Wherenext just seen photo of your new motorhome, very smart hope all goes well and you get to enjoy many trips away.
@richardandros impressed with your clean van, just wish ours was as clean!
@nelliethehooker I see you are still getting away just as much as you were. Hope all going well this trip.
@milliehull hope you are keeping well and @Bakers2 sorry to read about your hedgehog.

So lovely to hear from you @HelenandTrevor and to hear that you are still out and about in your caravan. We are keeping OK thank you just a bit slower these days!

Lovely to hear from you @HelenandTrevor I was wondering how you both were only last week. Thank you for your compliment but all we want now is no problems. T'other van had nothing but problems. We don't have any children to leave our modest estate to so we might as well enjoy it.
Sitting here in the kitchen with 10 minutes to spare. Cooking a roast for MiL as it's her birthday next week and that's what she wants.
Looks like we might be settling finally on where to go in May but still some things to iron out
Been a miserable day weather wise today but sun just came out. Dentist for check ups for us two tomorrow in Chester.

@HelenandTrevor nice to hear from you it’s been a while glad you are still getting out and about in your van. Do you still have the MG

Hi there @HelenandTrevor it is grand to hear from you. Pleased to read that you are still getting out in your caravan, and hope you are both keeping well. We have been fortunate this year so far with out trips and hope that continues, there are still a few sites we have not yet visited!😁
Glad you had a good weekend away and got home safely considering the strength of the winds @Francis We are thinking that we might be heading up your way towards the end of April, but nothing booked yet.
Hope you are able to get your May trip sorted soon @Wherenext , and that your MIL enjoyed the roast.
It has been a day of mixed weather, light showers on a very strong wind this morning interspersed with glimpses of the sun. It was then fine, but still windy, for a while after lunch but Flyte and I got caught in a heavy downpour after dinner, but the wind seems to have died down at last. We spent the day on site and was able to get a few sites booked for our next trip, with more to sort out in due course. I just hope that there is no fuel rationing as we hope to be away for a bit.

Meatball lunch at IKEA today, and we bought the new bedding for the new caravan, other than sheets for the single beds, and DD has invested in a mattress topper to use on the made up front double.
Now making lists of things that need to go back into old van, and things we still need to remove. Will soon order up a new battery, and agree a pick up date for the new van.
Pretty awful weather here, wet and very windy. Still recovering from the lost hour of sleep last night.

Hello again @HelenandTrevor nice to hear from you. We are still away, going home later today. We had a nice walk around Knaresborough yesterday, including St John’s church, which was very interesting. It’s been a busy break, Harlow Carr, Pateley Bridge, Skipton and Steam railway, and then Knaresborough yesterday. Good to get back out though, and apart from the leisure battery, all has been fine with our MH, so a good shakedown after limited use last year.

Meant to wish you good luck when your appointment comes around @DEBSC.
Busy day today as we had our dental checkup. We must move them to a dentist closer to home. We've been at these ones though since we moved over from Manchester in 1984. We love the hygienist so have put up with for her but she's retiring in a couple of years. Plus we would be there and back locally in an hour not the 3 hours it takes at present.
On the way back to the car we pass a very well kept Cemetery. It's usually locked but maintenance men were in today so we wandered back to the car through. It has some very unusual Headstones and the like. A couple of examples.
Good to hear of your trip @Takethedogalong.

It was just a shame we had moved on @Takethedogalong or we could have met up at Knaresborough. Pleased to read thst you have an enjoyable break.
Hope your visit to the dentist wasn't too painful, @Wherenext Interesting photos.
We have had mixed weather again but much drier than yesterday. Visited Kirkby Hall again for a couple of walks through the grounds, but gave the house a miss this time, and were unable to do the full circuit ot the lake due to the path being flooded in places. We were surprised by the number of cars in the carpark but didn't see top many people out on the walks.
Lots of different coloured primulas scattered through the woods by the trail.
This Acer stood out among the Tulips.

Hi TDA.. Glad that you enjoyed Knaresborough and surrounding area. What was the steam train ride like? I am going to try my ebike out now that the weather is getting better, ready for if I manage to get away in the M/H in April, but saw on YouTube that it is recommended to use a manual pump with a pressure guauge (the type you pump up and down) rather than an electric pump? It didn't say why but as I know that you do a lot of cycling, I wondered what do you think?
1 -
@vbfg the steam train ride is lovely, we have done both breakfast and afternoon tea on this railway, and both have been really nice. Good food, comfy carriages, great staff, and it’s a very pretty ride through the gorgeous Skipton hills and moors. Each lasted around an hour and a half, and both stations are interesting, with a nice cafe at the Bolton Abbey station if you didn’t want to eat on the train. Lots to see as well on stations. I will add a link. They do all sorts of meals, special events, including fish and chips, curry evenings, murder mysteries, etc….. Although we didn’t stay there, both the Bolton Abbey station, and Embsay station aren’t far from the BA Club Site. We have a canal trip afternoon tea from Skipton booked for June, think it’s the same company. We have done the East Lancs Railway as well from Burrs Country Park, that’s very nice as well. Trains set off from Bury, but if you have a meal booked, you can ride into Bury from Burrs free on passing trains.
Best to go direct via website, don’t go via Virgin Experience, too much of a faff!
We are hoping to do more steam train rides, different railways. We have done Tallyllyn, which is a stunningly beautiful ride in North Wales. As children we both did West Highland and Ffestiniog trips, but need to do these again. We have done North York Moors plenty of times, right into Whitby from Pickering, that’s a lovely long ride. Very expensive nowadays though, particularly dining, as it’s so popular.0 -
My OH and MiL have also taken a trip and afternoon tea on the Embsay Railway @vbfg. It's everything @Takethedogalong says. It was quite good for me as I had a wander around Skipton Castle for an hour or so. Sorry, can't help you with your cycling query.
MiLs 93rd. birthday today. Naturally we headed out to a local garden centre but one that stocks a Klass outlet and a Pavers so she was in her element. The sun even shone. We're a bit overwhelmed by the number of cards she still receives considering there's no remaining family apart from us and distant nephews and nieces. She enjoyed a cream tea/lunch.
Back home to do an hour of gardening as the forecast over Easter isn't too good.
2 -
Happy Birthday wishes to you MiL, @Wherenext - she's doing well, isn't she. Ros's friend in Woodhall Spa is 92 next month so no doubt, we will be popping into see her when we're in Lincoln.
What a glorious day it's been here - 17 degrees and lovely sunshine as we came back from Ros's hospital appointment this lunchtime, having also popped into Aldi for essential supplies (the sort that comes in bottles!). Then set to, loading the car and getting the van ready. Almost there, but I've had enough for now so will finish off the last bits in the morning.
Then it's off to our favourite CS - Thornthorpe, near Malton. Since it's months since we were last away - which is unusual for us, we're really looking forward to it.

@Wherenext a very happy birthday to Mum in law Wherenext, and what a grand age. Hope she had a very lovely day.
@vbfg OH says a manual pump better, just take your time if going from flat. The ones you stand on and pump up and down (track pump)are great for home, not expensive, but it’s worth carrying a small micro pump as well unless (like me🤭) you have your own soigneur to cater for your needs. If you have big
bike tyres, such as MTB ones, then it can take forever with a micro pump, in which case, a good quality portable electric pump might be useful in saddlebag. There’s a useful App that calculates tyre pressures based on wheel size, and weights human and bike combo. Will see if I can post a link…….
See photo, this is App you need, it’s free.

@richardandros have a good break, we dropped very lucky with our weather. Can highly recommend the Yorkshire Air Museum if you haven’t already been. Lots to see, indoors and outdoors, and the NAAFI (cafe) is very nice, some lovely food. Easy to get around, and tickets are for 12 months if you gift aid.
VICTOR.
Looking down the nose of a French Mirage Jet. Like a small Concorde in shape. The airfield was home to Free French Squadron for the last year of the War, so some lovely French memories and stories.
Nimrod, you used to see these flying really high at one time.
4 -
@Wherenext Happy bday to your MIL
@richardandros Enjoy your trip away I'm sure you've been looking forward to it but I'm sure youll get back in to the routine of it.
1 -
@Wherenext Happy birthday to your MIL and glad you had a good day out.
@richardandros Have a good trip away and take it easy.
@Takethedogalong great photos of the planes what was the first photo as we cannot think what it is and the Nimrod we have seen many times at different airshows and OH a Canberra as he used to see them flying very low over Malvern and they were trying new radar on it when he did is apprenticeship at the Royal Radar Establishment a long time ago. Glad you had a good trip on the railway trip, we would have enjoyed that as they do not do that over here but we are hoping to get on a steam train trip here this year have done two over the years.
Not so warm here as a strong wind from the north north west only 12.4C here today but did start to trim one Pampas Grass another to done tomorrow but OH did trim some branches off the Pyracantha shrub with me showing him which to cut as he would have chopped most of the shrub down ha ha looks better, we have a very warm spell for Easter could be 25C on Monday so hope it is warm as the local boot sale on Sunday so will walk up and have a look around once the early crowds have been.
