@DSB sorry to hear about your MIL, sending condolences, a sad time.
Our family have also departed for home. The two boys have grown even more, they are soo tall. Nice to hear all the stories from our grandson who has been in Australia. He has an Australian girlfriend now, who is coming over for a year in May. His brothers girlfriend is Dutch. They are at uni together. He sent her a photo of our garden, which she said was beautiful…. So she’s now my favourite. 🤭.
We went out and about, everywhere very busy, a very cold wind but lovely today. We knew nothing here of storm Dave just a little windy. However, many posts on FB about how bad the wind was at our caravan park, we contacted our neighbours there, they checked our decking and shed and fortunately said everything ok.
Our granddaughter had a procedure just before Easter and back home now, they wanted to get her out of hospital for Easter and before the Dr strike. She is a little better but still slow recovery.
All beds stripped, washing on the line so hopefully just chilling now after a very busy weekend.

We liked Hereford Cathedral as well when we went there a few years ago. We principally called in to see the Mappa Mundi but the cathedral itself was a bonus.
Congrats on your wedding anniversary @InaD. We have the same problem with MiLs birthday when its either an early Easter or late Mothers Day. Fortunately she seems to like my cooking.😂
I see the party never seems to end at @milliehull residence.👍️

Pleased to read that your granddaughter is out of hospital and is slowly improving @DEBSC
Sorry to hear your news @DSB please accept our condolences. Hopefully after you have completed all the necessary work you and Carol can get away in your caravan.
It looks as if you are making steady if slow progress if you are looking to help in your own way at home @Goldie146
Congratulation on your wedding anniversary @InaD you'll enjoy your meal out more for the waiting!!
It was a good day to get the washing done, with a gentle breeze and plenty of sunshine to warm the day up. I managed a few odd jobs gabout the house between walks with Flyte.

@DSB condolences at this sad time, it’s never easy losing a loved one.

Quite a busy day today. We had an appointment at the Rest and Care home that MiL is going into for respite whilst we indulge ourselves in a mini holiday. The staff wanted her to come in to acclimatise herself with the surroundings but as she is the only person I know who can get lost in a telephone box their efforts were probably wasted. Nevertheless she met the chef and we had a long conversation of her likes and dislikes. I've decided to do a list principally of definite Nos' for them. They're also calling next week to assess her physical needs. They seem very thorough. I did suggest MiL went on holiday and I go into respite but I nearly withered under OHs gaze!😂
There seemed to be a lot of cars piling into Wales this morning. Maybe the English schools Easter breaks started or the forecast for some sun has galvanised folks to get a few days away.
The recycling centre was also busy today and I did some cooking for tomorrow when I got back.
Hope everyone enjoying the sun

@DSB sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope once everything settles down you are able to get away in your van
We managed to dodge most of the bad weather it was windy here but not too bad so no damage caused luckily. Weather lovely today though it was actually quite warm this evening and been bright most of the day. Weren’t away in the van over Easter but hoping you get away next week at some point

@Wherenext this is the second week of the English schools' holidays for the majority, so it may just be the good weather that has attracted them.
Hope your dealer can sort out the damp problem @Oneputt Maybe fuel prices and increases in pitch fees are starting to bite hence the low number on the site.
We were due to see our dentist for our 6 monthly check-up this morning but because of a family bereavement she had to cancel the appointments, so we only had our quarterly appointments with the hygienist. Being down town we took the opportunity to do much of our weekly food shop at Tesco.

@DSB condolences to you both. Sorry to hear this news.
Just catching up with posts, we are having a week in Hertfordshire, dog sitting for our son and family while they have a few days away. We did get out to a local English Heritage garden (with dog) on Monday, not the best idea being a nice Easter bank holiday! It was a nice walk around though but we gave up on purchasing any food as the queues were ridiculous. Family are due home Thursday and unfortunately their washing machine has sprung a massive leak, not what they will want on their return but I didn’t want to spoil their break by advising them just yet!@DEBSC pleased to hear your granddaughter is out of hospital and hopefully she will feel much better soon. Also @Goldie146 keep up the good work, I’m sure getting back to something like normal will take some time but I’m sure you will get there.

@DSB condolences to you both from us sorry not going red.
A very hot Monday here 30.1C yesterday 27.6C and possibly similar today and from Friday getting cooler and then some rain over the weekend and a cooler week next week so will be gardening again as too hot at the moment.
A lot of washing done and dried very quickly outside.
Had a great meal with friends on Monday but OH did catch the sun on his lower arm even though he moved a lot our friend ended up with a very red v shape in her dress back but she loves it but I kept out of the sun as busy with the lunch, they are hoping to get to UK next week with their motorhome as family will on the Isle of Wight for a family event, they said they will decide when they get halfway from home whether to carry on or come back home.

Went into Malton this morning for a coffee and a bit of shopping. We noticed a big change from when we were last here, last August. The local economy seems to have taken a bit of a hammering with more, previously well-established local businesses, closing down. It's so sad to see but not surprising given how they seem to be being hit from every direction. Without wishing to get political, rural communities are definitely suffering badly at the moment.
Glorious sunshine all day and we have our first BBQ of the year planned for this evening😀. Looking at the forecast for the next week, we're making the most of it!😎

Another fine sunny and warm day, for thinking part, although it did cloud up for a while in the afternoon. With the help of our next door neighbour, an ex bricky, we recemented some breeze blocks in the wall around the front garden before doing some essential weeding. Walked to our local Co-op for a loaf only to discover that I'd lost/misplaced both a credit and debit card!! Thankfully I also had cash to pay for my purchases, but couldn't find the cards on the route home so had to block both and request, using their apps, replacements!!😯

After the lovely weather of the past few days there has been a definite change today. It is cloudy with a chilly breeze again. Today we have started clearing our kitchen ready for the painter and decorator who is arriving on Monday. I had no idea that we had quite so much clutter!
What a nuisance @nelliethehooker loosing all your cards. Have they turned up? Now you are going to be without your bank cards for a few days.
For those enquiring about school holidays over the Easter period - Cambs children broke up a week before Easter but those in Lincolnshire broke up on Maundy Thursday. So a bit of a mixture around here.
A few photos of sping flowers in our garden

We've had a few lovely warm sunny days this week, although today has been cloudy not that it mattered as a BG engineer came to replace our Smart meters with new more up to date ones this morning so had to be at home. All went okay until the smart monitor he had didn't work 🙄 so it was a phone call to BG who will post another one out with instructions to DIY!
Lovely pictures of your garden @milliehull Did your cards turn up @nelliethehooker ? Bit of a nuisance these day's as more places won't take cash anymore.

Lovely 2 days of warm weather. On the first day I moved a very small fence back covered a strip with black weed suppressant and then covered it all with chippings, making a walkway much wider in the garden. Now there is room to walk and I placed a line of big flower pots along the side. It did take some doing, I really know I’m getting on a bit lately 🤭 but it does look nice. Well it must because OH came out afterwards and said, ‘oh you’ve done a good job there’ which is real praise from him. Dentist yesterday, just a checkup and all fine. Then picked up some bags of compost for all the big flower pots. And some light up butterflies for the fence and some lights for our new arch. It took 3 goes to wind them around it and then unwind them again because I kept having loads left over at the end and it would have been lopsided. My patience was running out by the end. OH then said, ‘ why didn’t you unwind them from the strip, find the middle and then do it’. Now why didn’t I think of that !!
Today I went out to re-stain the wooden decking and all the posts but it is a really cold wind, I was wrapped up but although bright I found it colder than some winter days, what a difference. I only managed all the posts as just not pleasant in the wind. I’ll do the decking part another day when it’s warmer but I think it will take a few days to do as it’s quite large.2 -
PS. lovely flowers in your garden @milliehull

We too found ourselves surrounded by clutter today as we had an electrical engineer in and he wanted access to the really old oil diesel boiler room where we now keep all of the cleaning essentials and MiLs booze (don't tell anyone)😁 She does love an Advocaat and lemonade and is now known as the Advocaat lady in Tesco. Anyway I was left in charge as it wasn't a going morning for me so the ladies disappeared to Tesco. A nice chap but he couldn't do the work the way we wanted so he's gone away to think about it.
Felt better this afternoon so went to Tesco myself to get food shopping for the weekend. A chill wind and rain from early afternoon. Just had a hail shower.
I suppose you'll be posting on the "What have you seen" thread @nelliethehooker about all of the Moths found in your wallet.🤣 Did you have to notify the bank about the lost cards on the app or could you actually speak to someone? Don't suppose the originals have turned up have they?
Love the photos @milliehull

Lovely photos @milliehull
@HelenandTrevor no the cards have not turned up, but I have put a stop on them. It is more of a nuisance not being able to get cash as we like to have a decent amount to pay for CL and rally fees as many still want cash payment. I have the cards in my Google Wallet so can use that for everyday purchases. I hope the instruction are clear enough for installing the smart meter when it arrives, although I am surprised that it's installation doesn't have to be approved by an approved technician.
It was a shame that your electrical engineer couldn't do the work as you wanted, so I hope he is able to at the second time of asking @Wherenext it is such a nuisance that you will have to stay in again when he returns. I used the banks apps to cancel the cards and to order new ones, a simple exercise even for a dinosaur like me. We just have to wait for the new cards to arrive. We were in town this morning for OH's visit to the hairdresser and to pick up her prescriptions so I called in one of the banks and they confirmed that I had done the right thing. The other bank was closed unfortunately as I wanted to withdraw some cash so will have to return there and tell them about the loss then. We had part of our drive dug up this morning as Cadent have been replacing the gas mains along our end of the street, so our gas was off until around 7:00 this evening, but all good now apart for the hole on the drive which should be filled in and resurfaced tomorrow hopefully.
We each received an email from NHS about booking our Spring Covid injections, so was able to do that for early next week using the 119 call centre.

Sorry double post for some reason 😳
I dont seem to be getting the email alerts of posts for some reason. I wonder if @Rowena could sort it out for me please.

@nelliethehooker what a nuisance, and a worry, losing your bank cards. Glad you have been able to cancel them and order replacements quickly, like you OH still prefers having cash in his wallet. We have also booked our Spring Covid jabs for the end of the month.
@milliehull your garden does look good. I love magnolia, our son has 2 in his garden, only downside is whilst dog sitting OH has spent most days sweeping up spent petals! Mahonia is lovely too, nice fragrance.

Well it is much cooler here today and when opening the shutters to fog and drizzle and more rain forecast over the weekend.
Our friends have sent a message that they are on their way north and glad of the cooler weather as it would have been a bit hot in their motorhome overnight no air conditioning in it except for the motor side of it but even then they will not turn that on as they do not like cool draughts as we know when they have been in our cars they always say can you turn it off much too cold for them.
Have a good weekend folks.
Just about to do some housework now it is cooler.

It’s a nice day here so far, although a bit chilly. I got some bargains yesterday at our local garden centre, so going to plant these up today. Nice night in pub yarn group last night, lots of stuff done for outside pub for Summer, going to look lovely. Sorry to hear about your bank cards @nelliethehooker a pain trying to get things sorted.
I’m off to a Yarn event Sunday, group is heading to Leeds Grammar School for a big wool fair. It’s our second hobby, we don’t just make things with wool, there’s the added fun of buying it, getting it home, and then trying to remember what you actually bought if for🤭
Some lovely flower photos. I will post some pictures in garden thread later if I remember….🌼🌸🌺

Got our invitations for our Spring Covid jabs today and just booked online. They seem to be concentrating on the smaller locations now. Previously we went to a large Centre at the Open University but they clearly think that demand doesn't jusyify such a large venue? Does make you wonder how long they will continue with the vaccinations?

Our friends that just gone away she belongs to a sewing group and knitting and crochet group both on different nights, sewing is her thing even got 1 bedroom as her sewing room now as they gave up doing b&b last year, I am not keen on knitting but would like to do crochet but too far from our friends area to go to, did a bit of sewing yesterday nothing exciting just altered a blue net curtain I got last week from a local cheap shop plus a extending pole and now in the caravan door all for 13 euros which was cheaper than trying to buy caravan door curtain and it looks good plus weighted down with some new metal washers OH has a lot of so should stay in place not the best material to machine sew but all ok.
Hope you get your new bank cards soon @nelliethehooker.
Had a look at a local campsite for us to go to next month fun finding the tariffs on their website and looks around 22 euros a night with hookup so a good price, we are off to a friends gite in May for a short stay and could be our last as they are thinking of going back to UK full time and on the way up will look at another campsite so we can go to in June just want to see the site to make sure there is some shade to pitch up.

Hope your cards arrive soon @nelliethehooker - what a nuisance. Other than on the rare occasion I need cash from an ATM, I rarely take my cards out with me now and invariably use Apple pay on my phone. I always have my phone in my pocket! I hadn't bothered setting up Apple pay for years - until I went to Aldi in Beverley last year - did a big shop - got to the checkout and realised I'd left my wallet at home🙄. Much embarrassment and a 30 mile round trip back home to get my wallet!!
Had a nice day out in Helmsley today - although we were both exhausted when we got back even though we'd not done much. Another lovely day here, despite the weather forecast saying it wouldn't be that good.
Yesterday afternoon, I set to trying to find a site for June - for my birthday and came across Woodlands Fishery, near Spilsby in Lincolnshire - on pitchup.com. Something went wrong with the pitchup website and it wouldn't accept the size of our van which exceeded the 6.7m maximum according to their site. This was completely at odds with the description given by Woodlands. So - I rang the site direct - spoke to the son of the owner and what a lovely, helpful chap he turned out to be. When I explained my disabilities, he even went out in the rain and subsequently emailed me photos of a suggested pitch and measured the distance to the CDP. His helpfulness and overall level of customer service was simply outstanding - pity some larger organisations can't be as good. It only has 9 pitches - some fully serviced and very reasonable price-wise - as is the fishing. Haven't been fishing since we sold the last boat - so kit needs to be dusted off and I'm really looking forward to it.😀

RK you will be making everyone jealous, a campsite for just over £19 night😊

Bike preparation day today. They've been checked a few times during last year, tyres pumped batteries kept up (the batteries are integrated into the frame). Also the first opportunity we've had to try fitting them on the new van. We like the set up on this van better than the other as it's lower down and doesn't have to contend with a spare wheel on the back, as the other one did. They went on fine but we hit a bit of a snag late on as the internal battery connector needs the small CR battery changing. The main battery is fully charged but won't respond to instructions. If its not those, which I'll collect locally tomorrow, then we'll have to have them checked over by the dealer.
We were halted many a time by chatty neighbours which we honestly didn't mind as a couple of the husbands seriously ill in hospital. It was warm this morning but chilly now.
Collected meds from town. MiL has her Covid jab next week.
Hope those away for the weekend enjoy good weather.

Thanks for the concern about my post cards, which have as yet not turned up, but things appear to be working out fine. I went down to town this afternoon and as well being able to use the digital credit card in my Google Wallet for a purchase I managed to get money from the BS by showing my account on their app on my phone. Then when I got home the post had delivered my replacement credit card, less than 2 days after requesting it. Great service from Lloyds Bank. Our gas was again turned off during the day as work continued on the replacement mains, but we were again reconnected around 5:00 this evening, thankfully as it has been quite chilly here today even when the sun was out. I did manage to get the outside of the caravan, apart from the roof, cleaned before lunch, and Bobby Dazzled after.
Hope you get the your battery problem solved without having to take the bikes to the dealer @Wherenext
@DavidKlyne our Covid appointments are at a local pharmacy, and our doctor's surgery isn't doing them this spring.
Best of luck in finding a site that site you @RedKite
Your yarn group sound good fun @Takethedogalong fingers crossed that your garden bargains blossom!😁
