Well done @KjellNN - I know you've been pondering this for some time now. Good to make a decision and get on with it. I'm sure you'll be delighted with your new van. I also decided to trade or last van in when we bought the Knaus. I know it was undervalued by the dealer since they weren't a Bailey dealer and they just sold it on - but it was easy and it was all done and dusted there and then.

Good luck with getting the van out of the yard - I'm sure you'll sort it somehow.

    Enjoy the new van😊.

Always a weight off the shoulders once you have made a big decision. I think it was probably a good decision to trade the old van in, it saves a lot of hassle. Now you can look forward to the new van. Perhaps you will need to enlist a few volunteers to get the old van out of the yard? Any family members got any connections to a rugby club?

I had a most enjoyable day on Saturday. Our daughter arranged for her and I to go to London to see Paddington the Musical. The show was absolutely wonderful. The singing, dancing, stage effects all great and Bonnie Langford was marvellous - she did the spilts and cartwheels and got a standing ovation. And as for Paddington - just amazing and brilliant. So clever how they have done him.The whole day was good apart from the fact that tfl had decided in their widsom to shut quite a few of the underground lines, including Piccadilly which we had planned to use. It meant us having to do a roundabout route around the underground which included lots of walking between stations and going up and down stairs and excalators. So a lovely day but rather tiring.

Exciting news @KjellNN!! There does come a time in most caravanners lives when we have to make the decision that it is not economically viable to keep a caravan any longer. I am sure your family will have some wonderful times in your new caravan. I hope you manage to get your current van out of your son's yard OK. I hope there are a lot of strong young men around to help you.

Seems like you had a great day @milliehull. It did win loads of awards.

As it was our Anniversary today I asked OH if she would like me to cook the same meal that I first cooked for her on our first date. NOOOOO! she wailed, which perplexed me somewhat as she still talks about how wonderful my Spag Bol was. However I'd forgotten that that meal was the second one I cooked. The first one was a little bit less Italian but more like Student fare, namely Spam Fritters and a tin of London Grill!🤣 Well I was living in a flat in Manchester at the time. We're not far from our 50th. so I suggested I should keep it for then as a memorable reminder. She did mention that there wouldn't be a 50th. if I did.😱Honestly, you women are supposed to be Romantic. It's no wonder we men can't fathom you out.

She did mention I could do the honourable thing and give her what is now known in our household as "The Milliehull Treatment". I don't think I could afford it.😂

Pleased to read that you have decided to swap your old caravan for a new one @KjellNN I hope you are able to get the help you need to get the old one out of storage, and that your DD soon gets the correct tow bar fitted to her car.

Happy anniversary @Wherenext I hope your OH enjoyed the meal you cooked especially for her.

It sounds as if you had a most enjoyable, if tiring, day on Saturday @milliehull

It has been another miserable day here weatherwise with mist and rain at times. All went well, I think, with my minor operation. I just have to hope that all the affected area has been removed and there is no need for more to be done. We have decided to postpone heading off just yet, until the forecast is for better weather.

Happy Anniversay Mr and Mrs @Wherenext I hope the meal was acceptable whatever you cooked. I haven't had spam fritters since I was in the Girl Guides!!

I hope the results of your minor op are all good @nelliethehooker and that you can soon get away on your travels again.

It is a lovely sunny morning here - but will it last?

@nelliethehooker You must be glad to have the minor op out of the way, I hope the results are all good and you can get away again before long.

@Wherenext belated happy anniversary, hope the meal was enjoyed by both.

@KjellNN I'm pleased you've made the decision; sometimes one can "overthink" things and it becomes very stressful. It's always a good feeling to have made THAT decision, whatever it is. Happy travels to all!

@milliehull sounds like a lovely day out last Saturday. Yes, the sun is out here too, but quite cold, 4 degrees at 7.30am today

@nelliethehooker I hope the results of your minor surgery are all good. At least it’s something out of the way!

@milliehull I’m quite envious of your trip to see Paddington, so glad you had a lovely day and enjoyed it. It’s something that is on my list although I don’t know how I’d manage with all the walking!

@Kjellnn (sorry won’t go red!) congratulations on the new caravan. It sounds like your older one had done you well.

@wherenext (still won’t go red!?) belated Happy Anniversary, and almost 50th. Spam fritters - now that takes me back, my boys always enjoyed them when they were small, so did we I suppose. We had an our 50th Anniversary during Covid lockdown so not the celebration planned but we managed. The one meal I always remember during our dating days was sweet and sour fish in a local Chinese restaurant which I suppose was exotic back then!🤔😆

@Wherenext - belated anniversary wishes to you both - hope you had a lovely day. Only time I have ever used Spam was for catching Barbel on the River Trent! Worked a treat😋

Hope you're OK after your Op, @nelliethehooker - and that you make a full recovery.

Weather a lot better here, today - managed to get in the garden and cut the grass which was looking horrendous. Must find a way of slowing the lawnmower down though. It only has one speed and the power is either on or off - nothing in between, so I was struggling to keep up with it. Lawn looks a lot better than it did but it still needs another cut when it's dried out a bit more.

Thanks each for your good wishes. I was fine after the op but do have a bit of pain now that the local anaesthetic has worn off. Still a couple of paracetamol have helped and hopefully in will get a decent night's sleep tonight. The caravan is now all ready for the off so now we are just waiting to see what the forecast is for next week before making a decision on when and where to go.

I wonder how @Goldie146 is doing, as there hasn't been a post from her recently. I hope that she is getting over the sepsis and can get home shortly, if she is not already there.

I’m glad you’re doing well and getting back to normal. Not so here in not so sunny Lancaster. It’s my 6 week anniversary of being in hospital today. Mentally I’m fine and I’m improving physically - I’m back on an antibiotic drip for infection. Hopefully it will be sorted soon and I can get home

@Goldie146 oh poor you! So sorry to hear you are still suffering with the sepsis, what a long slog for you. I thought my DIL’s friend had a bad time being in hospital for a month with her infection, but 6 weeks! Glad you are improving physically and you can keep strong mentally. Best wishes and keep going in right direction. They must all be desperately missing you at home too. Fingers crossed for you.

We cut our grass yesterday for first time, looks a lot better now. Thankfully we have had some nice warm dry breezy days, so garden has dried out a lot. Love has obviously been in the air while we were away, as large pond has frogspawn. I am busy cleaning out water features and other ponds at the moment. Lots of Daffs out, plus a few tulips.

Best wishes go to those still with health issues, and getting over them.

@Goldie146 sorry to hear you are still in hospital and I hope the treatment is working. Having spent weeks in hospital and rehab last year I sympathise with you. At least getting home is something to aim for.

    Best Wishes

Cold and windy here but bright so it looks like a gardening day. Especially as the green bin has just been emptied, our collectors are very nice and I sometimes feel sorry for them emptying ours as its always full to the brim with it all stuffed right down, so heavy.

Good to hear from you @Goldie146 but sorry that you are still unwell in hospital. I hope you make a speedy recovery to get home very soon. I bet the freezer is empty and they have run out of cakes. Only joking, I’m sure they are all missing you very much. Hope you feel better very soon.

So sorry to hear you're still in hospital @Goldie146 - let's hope you're well enough to go home soon. It sounds as if you're getting good care, though.

@Francis - that photo of Albert Dock brought back memories from the dim and distant past. I went there when I was about 15 ('65) for the first stage of the Admiralty Interview Board for selection for Dartmouth. It was onboard a Minesweeper which I assume was probably part of the local RNR and I remember going into this cabin with more gold braid sitting at the other side of the desk than I had ever seen before! I survived, though and went on to the 3-day extended interview at HMS Sultan in Gosport. Eventually joined BRNC as an Officer Cadet in '68.

@Goldie146 sorry to read that you are still in hospital, and I hope you are soon able to get home where I'm sure you are sorely missed.

Grand photos @Francis glad you are getting some cycling in and also out and about, seeing plenty of interesting places.

It was a bright sunny and breezy day, perfect for getting the washing dried in the fresh air. I spent the morning polishing the car, and dog walking of course.

Just having a catch up on here! Still feeling rubbish energy wise, but I think it's improving very slowly! Siestas are a great help...... Still no idea, unlikely to find out now, what my bug was daughter in NZ reckons covid. Not had it and don't have any tests these days.

@Goldie146 I sincerely wish you better, I'm whining unnecessarily. Hopefully being in hospital, however awful - my OH in for 3 months, is where the care should be the best. I expect you're really missed at home, as you're missing home. Chin up, we're all cheering for you too.

@KjellNN a good decision made. Enjoy your new purchase. Hopefully getting your old van out and to wherever it needs to go without too much issue.

    Congratulations on wedding anniversary's @Wherenext and @milliehull

I've enjoyed photos and 'news' from others.

We managed to cut our grass, for the second time this year, on Tuesday before the heavy rain arrived. Today we have a very strong breeze. I'm glad I have plenty of ballast as it was needed on our over the fields walk! I'm managing to walk Dora daily, I just plod along and feel better,if exhausted, for it. I pegged bedding on the line before we headed off today. A little over an hour later on our return it was dry! Not bad for 1030 in March.

My part of kitchen refit is just about finished. I did manage a trip out to Lakeland, so much better to see in the flesh than online, so added to costs 🫣. We went to a garden centre about an hour away which has a Lakeland and farm shop and a jolly decent restaurant 😉. It was murky when we left here, the edge of The Fens, but got worse up the A1and peasouper-ish in Rutland. Luckily it improved by the time we'd spent out to return home....

As yet I've not 'enjoyed' the new kitchen. Can't remember if I said I had an oven issue? The bigger oven wasn't getting hot. Turned out to be user error. Apparently I wasn't the 1st according to the engineer who came out 😳. I'd like to test it out with some baking - it will come when routine stuff and energy levels allow..........

Wishing all those with health issues better. Keep posting your news, trips out are looking good..…

Really sorry to hear that you are still in hospital @Goldie146. Have they a temporary replacement doing your paperwork at the farm? Hopefully the family will be coping but missing your input dearly. Hope its not too much longer before you are home.

It might well have been COVID @Bakers2. It can certainly give you the sort of symptoms you've been describing. OH was lethargic for quite some time after our encounter with it a couple of years ago. I'm sure given your normal get up and go attitude that you'll work your way through it.

Just having a cuppa with the wind blowing a real hooley out there. Gusts of 50mph+. One of our neighbours has been having their roof tiles replaced and there was nothing on the roof this morning. Workers up on scaffold at present trying desperately to get underfelt and battens down with rain lashing down as well.

We've been busy this week, looking at replacing our van with no name and to that end had a day away to the midlands on Tuesday looking at a replacement. Stayed the night at Chapel Lane site. Luckily we had 2 reasonable days of weather to get down there and back. Just off shortly for my regular check up on the kidney front. Not anticipating anything untoward as I've seen the blood results but a medical appointment is not to be missed.

Good to see you're enjoying your stay at Chester site @Francis. Bit windy for a bike ride today though.

Hope that you soon get over your fatigue @Bakers2 and can enjoy both your walks and the kitchen!

Those roofers could not have been keeping an eye on the weather forecast @Wherenext as these high winds have been given prominence for a few days. Hope they were able to make the roof watertight. Hope your search was a success and we'll be seeing a replacement van soon then will we?

High winds and heavy downpours have restricted our getting out today, but it looks a bit better now.

Very windy day here today with rain on and off. Had a relaxing morning at the van then SWMBO had saw online that there was a market on at nearby Frodsham so we went there but when we arrived just after 12 most people were packing up event although it said the market was on until 3 so didn’t get to see much but still a nice town we had a walk around the shops. Then headed back out to Port Sunlight for lunch at The Bridge Inn got a good deal as it was burger day so 2 burgers with chips for the price of 1 so a cheap meal but very nice. Absoloutly pouring when we got back to the caravan but it stopped enough to allow us to take a walk up to the pub for a pint which was nice but when we came out it was pouring again so got a bit wet on way back to the van

@Wherenext what are you getting are you going back to a caravan or getting a new MH/camper

Got back from a much needed few days away in the caravan. The caravan was due for an E & P service, so we took it up to A & E Leisure in Northwich (who installed it for us). Stayed at a private site near Winsford (Elm Cottage). Lovely little site.... but internet was really poor. I'd get emails to say folk were posting, but couldn't seem to get on to add a post. Particular good wishes to @Goldie146 and @nelliethehooker and others who are not well or are recovering at present; to @milliehull and @Wherenext for you respective wedding anniversaries; and to @KjellNN for deciding to get that new caravan…

It bugs me that notifications hide behind my avatar in the top right corner. The bell symbol used to be visible at all times but can now only be seen if I open my avatar first. The same with the message symbol. Consequently I miss things. Another for @Rowena
