No problems at all. Genuinely glad to be corrected. I read my post before posting but still read Camellia not Clematis. Its what happens. I'd much rather matters like this were out in the open rather than the good old British way of not mentioning anything. It was the same just after the Stroke when eating out in public. I didn't give a hoot what people thought of my OH cutting my food up. Some others may think differently but if anyone looking at a person with disability, whether temporary or permanent, and feels embarrassment or revulsion then its them that should feel shameful.

So sorry to hear about your MIL @DSB I do hope you can get some suitable accomodation sorted out for her soon. I remember the problems we had when FIL was in a similar position many years ago and we wanted to move him closer to us. It took a while but we got there in the end.

We have had a busy and enjoyable week for our Diamond Wedding. We went to Anglesey Abbey to see the snowdrops with son and DIL (on a nice day weatherwise) and had lunch afterwards in the Axe and Compass pub in Hemingford Abbots - one of our favourite pubs. On the actual day we had afternoon tea at The George in Stamford and then more cake with the family in the evening and yesterday we had Sunday Lunch at The William Cecil in Stamford. It has been a wonderful week. The best news of all was our eldest grand-daughter telling us that she and her long time partner are planning of getting married in the summer.

Don’t hold your breath @richardandros I first went to Specsavers 6 months ago next week to get my ear wax ‘sucked out’ it’s what they do now. 5 goes over 4 months and it’s still there. 2 ear infections later and now 3 visits to our GPs nurse and she is finally due to actually syringe the ear on Friday. As I said in a previous post, if the surgery still did this I think it would have worked way back then and saved all the pain and money. Good luck with it though. Ask them to use a Dyson.😁

More ‘corridor care’ for our granddaughter after being rushed in again yesterday. And one very grumpy, rather rude, off hand nurse. Just the one, the rest were lovely. One even made me a cup of tea, we were there a while. She’s home now so I popped over, after picking some shopping up for her, to make her some lunch and we sat chatting in her bedroom with her to cheer her up. Her cousin phoned and made her laugh. Hopefully she will be able to get up a bit tomorrow. We do ask her to stay with us at times like this but she likes to be in her own bed and her housemate is around in the evenings. That took up most of today. The weather looks better tomorrow so I have a day of gardening planned, fingers crossed.

Congratulations @milliehull on reaching and celebrating your Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Sounds like lots of gentle celebration befitting the ocassion. Wonderful news on the upcoming wedding. I feel the need for a shopping expedition 🤣.

Your granddaughter is so strong @DEBSC

    @DEBSC

I dried washing on the outside washing line for the 3rd day on the trot! It did cloud over and we had showers after lunch.

I still feel rubbish after minor exertion 😡. I've increased my tonic dose to the full wack from today 🤞

Couldn't get the oven to work so onto the warranty folk. Phone an 0330 number to be connected to the Philippines. Engineer can come Thursday, before its completely confirmed the call drops 🫣. I phone back, repeat everything, not booked, next available date 4th 😡. Then she proceeds to try upselling the warranty, which happened when I registered the appliances a week ago! Figures are no longer given for an annual fee 🙄 but monthly amounts on each appliance so need multiple calculations. Good job I can. Naturally I refused the offer again.

@richardandros it certainly is a "querky" but you would find it interesting with the gliders and tow aircraft.

We spent the morning in Denbigh, firstly at the ruins of the 13C Carmalite Friary Chuch, past the Evan Pierce Memorial and then up at the castle which unfortunately was not open but we did have short walk there, followed by a drive to view the 18C Asylum buildings, but access is not possible. However if anyone is interested in it there are a couple of long YouTube videos about it, one below

We managed to fit in an afternoon walk from the caravan just before a short rain shower.

A sunny, mostly, day here in the Tropic of Wales. Well, it was warmish. After sorting MiL out, not as severe as it sounds, we visited @nelliethehooker and his long suffering OH on their CL just outside Denbigh. Interesting seeing Gliders coming and going on the airfield part of the site. Had a couple of walks and a good long catch up with them, not having seen them for quite some time. A very pleasant way to spend the day.

Appointment with the Gas engineer early tomorrow morning for boiler service. MiL then out to lunch with her friends so we may take the van with no name for a spin and make sure all is in working order as we are away for a few days early next week, fingers crossed.

If you are not careful @milliehull these anniversary celebrations may make it through to your 61st.😂 I love the way you manage to elongate your celebratory days into not just weeks but sometimes months. Brilliant.

Deceptive photos Nellie😄 Glad you all had a good day together. It was lovely here yesterday as well. We did a tip run, all garden waste for recycling, an Aldi shop, and then I managed a couple of hours in the garden. It’s starting to look better now. We dropped into our local nursery for our monthly free coffee, and managed to get a real bargain, some really good bark nuggets at half price. They last a lot longer than the usual bark chippings, but are usually much more expensive, so we loaded Jeep up. Should do great for this year now.

Out to another comedy gig last night……Ross Noble. Didn’t really know what to expect, but boy was he funny. You could tell some of the audience were a bit bemused, and some weren’t quite sure if they were allowed to laugh at some of his roundabout ways of taking the mickey out of some of the pretentiousness that abounds in life today, but the theatre was full and bent double at times with laughter. That’s it for booked gigs at the moment, it’s going to be more about booked trips and train/canal boat rides for next couple of months, although football might loom large as well. MH is going to get a sort out this coming weekend, ready for later in March👍

    My garden is calling……..🤗

@Wherenext And we still have a couple of vouchers for Afternoon Tea that were gifted to us😁but I think we will save those for a while. So glad you and your OH had such a good day with Mr and Mrs @nelliethehooker. Hopefully it did you both good and I hope you have a good few days away next week. We are back to 'normal' here - a couple of medical appointments, MOT for OH's car and a puncture repair for my car. Most annoying as I have no idea how I managed to get a puncture but son recommended a very good and reasonably priced local company that came out to us and it worked very well.

Lovely photos from both @nelliethehooker and @heddlo So lovely to see. I loved the peacock.

It is a good day weatherwise here - sunny with a slight breeze and quite mild compared to recently. However it was colder inside the Catheral yesterday than out. They have switched the heating off again 😒

A couple days ago scaffolding was put up at the front and back of a neighbours house. I am a curious sort of person (some might say nosy😊) I was wondering work he was likely to be having done. My guess was either soffits and guttering or solar panels, it turned out to be the latter. I have often wondered If I should do the same as it would clearly reduce my annual electricity bill ( last year it was £1086) but doing a few figures pay back would take quite a long time to recover the investment? Anyone else had similar thoughts? I appreciate thos that bit bullet years ago had the advantage of generous feed in tarriffs.

Great photos @nelliethehooker my OH when working in Somerset one of his work friends was a pilot and a glider pilot and a trainer so we had a chance to have a go in a glider what a great day out that was.

We have been busy in the garden chopping up a Juniper tree that blown over in the strong winds and another next door to it was due for the chop so OH loaded up the trailer yesterday and other garden waste I had for deadheading plants pruning shrubs so with a few other items no longer needed or worked we did a skip run this afternoon gosh it was busy and folk here just park anywhere so had to park car and trailer then take trailer to garden waste when a space and gosh is Juniper prickly or what even with light fleeces on and heavy duty gloves even with arm protection on OH managed to scratch himself so once home cleaned up and plaster on I did the same yesterday with a shrub I was pruning even a piece of the branch in my arm but all cleaned up ok oh the joys of getting older but things looking better outside but a lot more to do even managed to repot a Hibiscus shrub as old pot a bit small so that is looking better even managed to clear some old leaves from around some pots, and the weather has been so much warmer upto 24.6C yesterday and 23C today and managed a few loads of washing done and dried outside.

    Hi David

I had 16 solar panels fitted in 2012. They cost £6.000 and as I receive around £1,000 a year in FIT payments, along with what I save on electric bills, I most probably recouped my money in around 4 to 5 years. I believe that you can still receive FIT type payments from Octopus and some other large energy providers, if you have a smart meter and batteries which store the power you generate, are now available as well, although they are not cheap. Whether you feel it is worth it is down to how much sun your roof will receive and if it is not overlooked at all. Best advice about how much they may generate is by word of mouth from a neighbour whose roof is facing a similar direction to your own.

    Cheers Val

I don’t think there are any FIT payments for newer installations, anything after about 2019, but you can sell your excess generation to various different suppliers. The rate per kWh varies from something like 4p to 12p now.

We installed in late 2011 so get a good rate of FIT, and as we do not have batteries we sell our excess to Octopus for 15p, soon to be 12p, as we also buy from them.

Considering getting a battery, but not sure it would be financially sensible.

I love that dragon😁 The cruxifixction is a real “agony” version though.

We had a day out in Beverley yesterday, partly to pick up a new Jeep hood from a specialist firm nearby, but also just for enjoyment. We had a good look around Beverley Minster, which is a beautiful church with some lovely stone and wood carvings. I was very taken with a tiny little pooch on one small carving, and the misericord seats are all very interesting. Found a nice cafe, inside a wool/craft shop🤗 Made a nice change. Hopefully putting a roll back roof on Jeep will stop a blinking persistent leak that’s driving us mad!

I love the expression of the dog. Goodness knows how many hundreds of years ago it was carved, but I’d love to know if it was a pet, a stray, belonged to the stone mason, or whatever. Made me smile.

I remember visiting it about 20 years ago @Takethedogalong. A very impressive Gothic style church with a fascinating history. Very taken with the Sanctuary Chair (by the altar). We might well be in the area this Spring. If so we'll pay it a second visit.

Just back from Wrexham as I had to have an urgent blood test and the Renal Unit has a walk-in facility. Fortunately the unit is away from the main hospital so parking went well and straight in and out. Couldn't get a local booking for love nor money.

Supposed to rain most of the day but we've only seen the odd 5 minute spell. OH was able to take MiL for a walk this morning (she refused to chase a ball though).😁Did her good (MiL) to get out and about again.

Wish I'd known you were in Beverley, yesterday @Takethedogalong - would have been nice to have met up for a coffee - although, thinking about it - couldn't have made it in the afternoon - was at our local chemist's having my ear pressure-washed - or whatever it is they do!

Interesting morning, today - the engineer arrived to fit the stairlift and it's all up and running now. Should have done it ages ago. At least someone can no longer complain about me moaning and groaning going up and down the stairs🙄.

Please let us know if you do decide to head this way @Wherenext - Beverley's only about 20 minutes away from us.

@richardandros sorry about that, I didn’t realise you were so close to Beverley. Yes, be good to meet up. We had no real fixed plans or timing to be honest, as we ventured out to pick up the Jeep canopy from nearer Howden and it was a Hull or Beverley toss of coin. I got a phone call from my sister half way there that nearly ruined the day, but all turned out ok in the end. Next time hopefully. Love Beverley, still got a lot of nice independent shops, and the Minster is a gem. Strange driving across The Westwood though and not stopping for a pooch walk.

@Wherenext hope you are ok. Do let us know if you head this way, we will possibly be able to get a couple of nights at least free. We are away most of next week, Edinburgh, few other things in the pipeline, Mum and Sis permitting🙏 Mum is 97 next week, ain’t too sure she will realise it, but we shall make her day a nice one. 💐🎂🍧🎈

Better day here today than yesterday, quite mild, sunny and dry. Yesterday DD’s Skoda had to go to the dealer for a software upgrade, so I went over there to pick her up, we drove back here, and she went off with our Touareg. They had a parents evening yesterday, both of the boys received glowing reports for being well behaved, polite, and doing very well in all subjects, so parents were very pleased.

Their behaviour at home when they are together is quite a different matter!!!

This morning the dealer rang to say her car was ready, so, as she only works a half day on Fridays, she picked me up before 1pm and we headed to the dealer. She then headed home and I came back here for a late lunch. Good the software update did not take too long as we need the Touareg for taking the caravan for service on Tuesday. Need to get it all ready over the weekend.

This afternoon we went out to collect prescriptions and also went to our local M&S and treated ourselves to a couple of their Dine Ins, quite a while since have done that.

Hope there are no problems associated with your blood test @Wherenext and you can get away as planned next week.

Fingers crossed that the new hood solves the water leak problems in the jeep @Takethedogalong Have an enjoyable time in Edinburgh.

Pleased to read that your stair lift is fitted and you are having fun using it @richardandros Has your visit to the chemist achieved the results you anticipated? We may be over near Beverley towards the end of next month but not yet fixed up where and when yet, i'll update you if the trip materializes

@KjellNN it is always a concern when taking the van in for a service but perhaps all will be well with yours.

After heavy rain through the night thankfully the morning was dry for packing up though there was light drizzle as we moved across to our latest CL, the one we used over Christmas. It stayed reasonably dry until early evening but has rained on and off since then.

@nelliethehooker - mixed results re the chemists. The lady that did it managed to clear lots of wax out of my ear and it's now clear - so in that respect it was successful. However, hearing hasn't improved that much and I still have tinnitus in that ear - which I've had for years. She also saw what appeared to be a burst blood vessel on my ear drum and recommended yet another trip to the Doctor to get him to look at it. I feel as if I ought to move into the surgery, permanently, at the moment!!🙄

Please get in touch if you do decide to come to Beverley - would be good to see you again!

@richardandros sorry about your extra ear problem I hope that it is easily fixed. Good news for me at the GP surgery yesterday, the nurse finally managed to get the wax out of my ear by using irrigation, all easily sorted in one go. Six months of them trying to suck it out at Specsavers and six visits, with no joy. The nurse did say it was very near to my eardrum. Shame they couldn’t have done it initially though as it would have saved me 3 ear infections and £60. I could clearly hear the birds singing on my walk home, the tv has now been turned down by two notches and our kettle suddenly sounds very loud. 😁

We’ve had a busy week, partly due to getting our 25 year old wooden arch out, chopped up and to the tip. With every wind it was leaning more. The Rambling Rector was cut right back as was the pink rose on the other side. I think the Rector was a mistake as it is a complete thug and grows so fast. A new metal arch there now, so hopefully both roses will grow back over that. I saved the honeysuckle and tied that in. Two clematis in pots will hopefully grow up to hide the spaces this year. It did take us a while to get it out of the ground and sorted, really know that we are getting older and can no longer manage what once we would have done in our stride.

All the caravan bedding etc. now washed and out on the line ready to go back in a few weeks when the site re opens, it’s come round really quickly this year.

Those of you having issues with ear wax I wonder if you use olive oil in the ear for a few days before an appointment to have the wax removed?
