We are not long home after a first weekend away of the year we were just local at Strathclyde Park club site weather not great but nice to be away although it was bright and sunny this morning when we were packing up. The main toilet block and some of the pitches on site are out of action due to a major flood a few weeks ago so the smaller toilet block was the only one in use the wardens were saying they don’t expect the main blocks to be open again until Easter it was badly damaged by a water main bursting that Scottish Water are responsible for so there are some major works needed to the block. It’s amazing after just 3 months how much you forget we were checking and double checking everything this morning as we packed up. Easy hours tow home and van now back in it’s space on drive we may go away again next weekend not sure where yet but will just be fairly local again.

    @Takethedogalong enjoy your day out

Sitting enjoying an afternoon cuppa, wondering what that bright orange ball thing is in the sky. Not seen much of that lately. Still a few weeks before our first run out with the caravan to Broadway, but we have taken advantage of this meteorological mystery to open the caravan up to give it a bit of an air, not that it is damp.

Hope you enjoyed Strathclyde, @Francis. Sorry to read of the water/flooding problems. We've used Strathclyde CAMC site as a stopover for a couple of nights (I think we were on our way to Grantown-on-Spey... 😀). Convenient site as a stoppover and it enabled us to see some of the locality. I do remember the road noise... 🙂

We're really finding it difficult to get out in the caravan at the moment. We did go out a few weeks ago, but only locally.... the day we went out corresponded with the day my wifes mother was taken into hospital with a couple of small strokes. It's all been a bit difficult since.... she's now recovered from the strokes but is suffering from breathing difficulties. She's still living at home, but at 94 years old, she now requires quite a bit of support, so we've been backwards and forwards every day (....a 45 min journey, each way.....), and my wife has stayed over most nights to support. We're in the process of trying to organise sheltered housing accommodation, but are awaiting a Social Services review.

    Difficult times....

Sadly my brother, Peter, died peacefully last night. I want to thank everyone who passed goodwill messages over the last few days.

@Oneputt condolences to you and your family on the loss of your brother. I'm so pleased you managed to visit him last week.

@DSB testing times, thinking of you and your wife.

We too had a beautiful day, I dried towels outside.

    20260222_173845.jpg

And a beautiful sunset. That's a first for a long long time!

I've actually managed to get everything downstairs in cupboards, not sure some won't be moved. I feel better now it's sorted. That just leaves all the stuff we're not keeping to go to the charity shop…

On the downside I did the initial burn off on both ovens before the decorators came, but on Friday whilst baking with our grandson, the big oven isn't heating 😡. The top one was so the Bluey cakes cooked. Not impressed,I was seduced into buying a cake mix with Bluey decorations, at a price only a very indulgent grandma would pay 🫣. Grandson was thrilled, but 10 extremely small cupcakes. I savoured each of the 3 tiny bites of mine.... I'll reread all the instructions for the oven and try again before phoning the warranty folk tomorrow🤐

A few more days like today and I might be able to venture out to do some gardening 😃

@DSB hope you are soon able to sort out suitable sheltered accommodation for your MIL. It must be a trying time for both you and especially your wife.

Hope the rereading of your oven instructions ensures that you can get the oven working without having to call in outside help @Bakers2

Nice to hear that you enjoyed your first weekend away @Francis It is a pity that there are problems with the toilet block at Strathclyde, it is hoped that they can get it fixed before Easter or there could be lots of disappointed club members of the club has to cancel bookings.

We moved over into Wales today to a rather different CL, on an airfield, where we watch numerous glider coming in to land. The site doe need a bit of TLC, and the directions to the pitch was rather misleading, although we got there in the end, but it will do for us for a few nights.

Everything worked out perfectly for today’s trip. We do the park and ride from Ashton West to the Velopark nowadays. Not a bad drive over Woodhead, but it was very windy. Beautiful scenery though. It was closed from 9pm overnight, but we just managed to get back over as they were putting the road closures up. Great afternoon/evening of racing, we still have some World Class track cyclists, including Emma Finucane and Matthew Richardson, who are the newly crowned European Sprint and Kieren holders.

Wonderful tribute to one of England’s finest ever cyclists, Beryl Burton.

Lovely morning so went for a local walk. Hardly anyone out and about, which was strange seeing we haven't had many good days like today this year. Lovely seeing clumps of Snowdrops and Daffs.

@Wherenext thats not a clematis, that’s a very beautiful Camellia. We enjoyed seeing lots of snowdrops and crocus driving to Manchester yesterday. I have quite a few out in the garden as well. Can’t grow Camellia’s though, soil isn’t right, so only in a pot. I noticed our grass is growing as well, won’t be long to first cut. Awaiting arrival of loved up frogs at the moment……….

So sad to hear your news @Oneputt - we send our condolences as well at this sad time for all of your family.

Bit the bullet, this morning and went to the Pharmacy to make an appointment to get one of my ears syringed out - or whatever it is they do now. Was getting a bit fed up with being told by someone that I'm deaf (well that's the polite version!)🙄 Really looking forward to Thursday😕

Bit of a milestone - weather-wise. Ros did a load of washing this morning and it's the first time for weeks (perhaps, even months) that it's been possible to hang it outside to dry. Nowhere near as warm as forecast but it's dry and there's a very fresh breeze. Still very overcast again, though.

Pleased you have managed to get away on your latest jaunt, @nelliethehooker . Ros was only asking, this morning what you were up to - so now I'll be able to tell her. Sounds like an 'interesting' CL!

I have had this problem since the Stroke. I do it with figures as well. I know what I want to put and then write something different. I wrote a cheque the other day and wrote the words correctly for the amount but changed the 17 to 27 on the figures. Doesn't happen often and I generally notice it but not this time. OH says welcome to her world as she has a dyslexic problem with certain letters.

Lovely morning but have seen a passing shower.

@Wherenext .... my problem is with left and right... it takes me a little while to think it through.....they say that's a dyslexic problem too... although I guess very mild. If I'm driving and Carol is directing me, she has to use 'your way' or 'my way'.... Then the problem comes when she's driving and I'm directing her. Because I usually drive, I have been known to say 'my way' (meaning right), when actually it should be 'your way', because it's her that's driving...... 🤣🤣🤣 ....if you can actually follow what I've just written.

Thank's for your kind comments @Bakers2 and @nelliethehooker . Thanks for the photo's above too, folks. It reminds me that Spring is on the way - thank goodness. I notices all the crocuses and snowdrops along Church Drive yesterday. 👍👍

@Wherenext I am having to double check my posts as I sometimes get wrong letters and have no idea how they got there! It might be that I am typing one handed although I was never a touch typist.

Did you have a ride around the track while you were there, it is a great experience?

I remember having lunch with some very dear friends about 8 months after the Stroke. Sitting there I inadvertently called the woman by a different name. I'm not sure I know anyone by the name I called her. Fortunately she knew that the Stroke could do some funny things. I don't tend to get embarrassed about it, more annoyed, but it is what it is.

I think typing @DavidKlyne is a bit awkward for me as I have to type with my "wrong" hand. I have relearnt how to write with my right hand again but very slowly but find typing a bit of trial with that hand.

@MikeyB I remember you had a ride around, in fact it prompted me to book a session for my OH. We still chuckle about it, as sadly the day after I booked it my OH was whisked off to hospital having a heart attack, so sadly he’s never had the chance to do it. He is too wary of the fixed gear bikes and power effort required to do it nowadays. Looking down the banking slopes on the ends, you don’t realise just how extreme the slopes actually are until you look down. They no longer allow folks to stand right on the barriers during the sprints, in case anyone comes over😱 It was thankfully a quiet day for crashes yesterday, only two minor ones. Last year we were sat opposite the first aid centre in the middle of the track, and they were very busy removing splinters from the riders, some took a good couple of hours. Gruesome. Great place though, and very interesting with all the old bikes, Hall of Fame and other stuff. We have been going on and off for a good few years, lucky enough to see Cav and Wiggo in action. Ben Wiggins was there yesterday, got a Bronze Medal.
