@MikeyB I think the generall NHS ordering of repeat prescriptions is pretty good with various online options in place including the NHS App. Our issue was the collection of our prescriptions because we are without a car at the moment and neither of us very mobile. The onliine solution seems to suit us and our current situation. I have a second prescription coming tomorrow via Royal Mail who keep us informed when they are due to arrive. We can even nominate a safe place where they can be left so it all seems well organised. For us its almost a needs must situation but I understand others can cope with the normal arrangements.

Had our Flu jabs Tuesday in our local Pharmacie in Limogne as OH needed a another sharps box, no booking needed as they have at least 3 staff that do injections and they always please to see folk having the jabs also another couple waiting, our covid jabs are due mid December, the Pharmacie is moving just up the road next to a carpark and will be much bigger and will have other medical folk there not sure what yet as another two weeks before the big opening. As to repeat prescriptions OH has to a see doctor every 3 months as most folk do here to get his next prescription no online here yet but OH has made his booking for different medical specialists online with no issues he said that La Poste have some arrangement to deliver medications but we do not need that yet.
A very sunny day here which is great after dull damp days some washing done and dried outside and then we both had a go at getting two very old plants out as I have two replacements near where the old ones were to put in tomorrow and a few more things to put in and it looks like rain again for the weekend.
Glad folk are improving from their operations.

Just heading homeward after a few days visiting my brother in Rhoose Point in Wales. Excellent to catch up and remember the old days at home.
Llantwit village church.
Llantwit Major beach.
And this needs no location details for some of you...

Just had confirmaion that my Blue Badge has been approved and should be with me shortly. All I need now is my driving licence reinstated which will allow us to get out and about locally. It's probably a silly thing to say but I haven't been in a shop for over six months! During that time of "Not Going Out" my only outside visits have been to NHS facilities!

Yes some idiot (who shall remain nameless) had his photo taken in that gap between the characters🤐

Had a lovely day in London today with son and grand-daughter. It is my 'home' as it is where I was born and where I grew up until we moved to Peterborough when I was in my teens. We went to see the Cecil Beeton exhibition at the National Portrait gallery and had lunch in The Crypt at St Martins in the Fields.
Grand-daughter and I enjoying part of the exhibition
The Eliza Dolittle dress Cecil Beaton designed for My Fair Lady.
His portrait of Wallis Simpson
His photo of Princess Marina

I wonder just how many other "idiots" have done the same? I guess that's the reason for the gap anyway. C
Grand photos @Cornersteady and @milliehull
Good to read that your Blue Badge has been approved @DavidKlyne Fingers crossed that you now get your licence reinstated and you can make full use of it.
It stayed mainly dry through the day with just an odd shower. I manage to fit a new security light outside this morning along with a couple of other small jobs. Had a lazy afternoon and now can feel no after effects from yesterday's jabs.

Looks like you had a great day out @milliehull - and lovely photos as well. Well done re the Blue Badge @DavidKlyne and I hope you get your licence back soon. Mine's been a help already - except for the fact that I think most of the population of Hornsea seem to have one - and the problem has been finding somewhere to use it!
Had a bit of a mystery this morning…….I was checking my bank statement when I noticed a pending transaction, dated today - for £5 in favour of the Royal British Legion. Now - I wasn't unduly concerned in view of who it was - but on the other hand I knew I hadn't been anywhere to donate to a collector, nor had I done anything on-line. I did buy a few poppy items on-line a couple of weeks ago and made a donation to the Poppy Appeal, but definitely nothing today. Rang the bank - couldn't help but suggested I rang the RBL to see if I had inadvertently signed up to some form of subscription.
When I rang them - I was told "Oh that's interesting - we've had a few people telling us the same thing today and we're investigating it." It turns out I did make a donation - a YEAR ago - when I was caught out in Tesco's without my usual poppy pin on my jacket (forgot to change it over!). Being duly embarrassed, I used my card to make a donation, explaining I'd done the same thing on-line as I had this year. It turns out, that donation didn't go through - but it did do today - when the card machine was turned on again!! Whilst I find that a bit hard to believe, at least I'm not the only one it's happened to. Weird🤔

Lovely familial likeness in the photos @milliehull. Lovely photos as well. Sounds like you had a grand day.
That was weird @richardandros. Still, its going to a good cause and it doesn't sound like a scam, hardly worth it for £5.
I had a weird day myself yesterday. I'd lost some sleep the night before worrying about what I'd done with the information for a savings account that we'd been notified was due to come to an end soon. I normally keep the details safe with others. This one wasn't just password protected but had personal ID numbers. I found one that was MiLs but couldn't find the one belonging to OH. I told her and she rang the company explaining my ineptitude. It transpired that the details I did have wasn't MiLs all along but OHs. Oops! I'm losing it rapidly! Never mind, I'm just grateful my OH is the forgiving gentle kind.
We spent a morning with MiLs bank this morning effecting the POA, a copy of which we obtained from the Solicitors a while back. At the moment she is still lucid enough to make decisions but we wanted to get it in force just in case. She's happy to leave these things to us but is always informed anyway. We've got our own forms downloaded now that we seem to have a few blank days and weeks ahead. So they'll be done soon.
Managed to book 2 nights away in November, using a free night at a Club site, Chester. We can only get respite care for MiL for 1 day due to training requirements but as its only Chester we'll sort MiL out for the other day before we leave.

A strange one that @richardandros you will have to keep your eyes on it to see if further "donations" are taken.
I had a rather traumatic day today. When we were having our injections on Wednesday I was able to book an appointment to see one of our doctor's today, at 1:30. Then I received a text and phone call changing it to 11:30 which suited me. I was initially examined by a student doctor, under supervision, before the doctor decided that I needed to see a dermatologist at the hospital, so that means we won't be getting away until I have been seen. Then later during my afternoon walk I was bitten behind my knees by a terrier, who just grabbed hold of my leg as I walked past it and his elderly lady owner. The bite has bruised my leg and broken the shin through my trousers!! Of course she apologised, but said that the dog had " never done that before " !! As if! Perhaps I should have taken their picture and reported it to the police, but that's not something I even considered at the time & it's too late now. Hopefully she will keep it under better control from now on.

@nelliethehooker I hope the bite doesn't cause any issues, just keep an eye on it.

@nelliethehooker, I hope that your leg is soon better. It seems that we are hearing more people and other pets being bitten by dogs these days, or maybe that’s just because of the internet, still worrying though. Some people need to have more control over their dogs. At that height it could have been a small child’s face. Good luck with the dermatologist appointment, I had a severe scalp problem and our GP made me a referral for the dermatologist,18 months later I got my first appointment. By then damage was done and I needed some considerable treatment, and left with effects that she said won’t now clear up. Had I known it would be that long I would have gone private.
Caravan all packed up for winter, a bit earlier than usual this year. The floe worked perfectly, it can sometimes be a bit temperamental and take a while, but drain down ok yesterday. The journey home wasn’t too bad, we stopped for a pie at Gloucester Services, it’s always busy but it was heaving yesterday, it was lunch time, but never seen it so busy. The blue badge came in really handy as we parked right outside. It was also very useful in Stratford town, OH much happier without the usual long walk from the car park. Different here in Barnstaple as fewer disabled spaces, which are usually full. The traffic going the other way on the motorway yesterday was horrendous, it seemed to be at a complete standstill from Taunton to Bristol. Probably people going home from the West Country after half term. Just so glad that we were going in the other direction.
The birds are sitting in the apple tree looking forlorn, their feeders have run out, I’d best go and refill them.0 -
@nelliethehooker - so sorry to hear about the dog bite - hope you're feeling a bit better by now. As you indicated, I bet it's not the first time this has happened and as far as I'm concerned - it's all down to the owner as to how the dog behaves. I'd bet it's never been allowed off it's lead - and it certainly can't be now.
Pleased to hear you got the van sorted for the winter @DEBSC and that you had a reasonable journey back home. Same problem here with Blue Badge parking spaces as I said, the other day. I've actually taken a big step and ordered a mobility scooter - been putting it off for weeks but made the decision yesterday and ordered one. A Rep is coming to the house to do a demo on Tuesday and if I don't like it, I can cancel the order with no penalty - but I saved £400 doing it this way.
It's called an "Atto Sport" and folds up really well to go in the car. Very clever design and although I'll never need it, is designed to spit into two bits that will actually go into two aircraft overhead lockers. It's the only one I've seen that I'm actually prepared to be seen on!! (It's a man thing, I suppose!) At least, now, we'll be able to get out and about more when we go away in the van.

@nelliethehooker I hope you get a hospital appointment soon. My husband saw a dermatologist at Furness hospital - 12 days after seeing the doctor.
2 -
@nelliethehooker hopefully you can an appointment soon. OH is awaiting a dermatologist appointment and was told it could be about a 50 week wait! You are very lucky with your hospital @Goldie146, good news.
0 -
That’s very good @Goldie146. I was told it could be 6 months but ended up waiting 18 months. OH got his first appointment and they said he needed a mole removed, he ended up waiting another 8 months for that. Postcode lottery I suppose.0
-
Sorry to read about the dog bite @nelliethehooker - hope it's getting a little better.... It certainly seems like a postcode lottery for those awaiting hospital appointments. Carol has waited ages for the hip operation.... she's still a bit worried about it - I suppose that's only natural.... only a few days to go now.
David

So sorry to hear about the dog bite @nelliethehooker I hope you have no ill effects.
Good luck to Carol for her hip operation @DSB I think it is perfectly natural to feel nervous.
We had a family get together yesterday afternoon before our son and grand-daughter left for home this morning. They are now safely back home in N.Ireland and the house seems very quiet.

@DSB David I suspect things like hip and knees are probably both due to delays across the country, no doubt many people waiting for these operations? Given the complete lack of action from the NHS with Margaret's first operation was what prompted us to go private. The second hip was the complete opposite, it came round exceptionally quickly which we could't really understand. The only thing I can think of is the surgeon that did the first one was clear that the second one needed doing which might have prompted faster action, I suspect we will never know?Hope it all goes well for Carol, she should be encouraged by the number of successful hip operations experienced by members of thi forum?

I am pleased to say that the bite seems to be healing nicely, with a bit of bruising around the wound, but no pain. Thanks for all the good wishes. At least it hasn't stopped me working, as I got most of the caravan cleaned inside today, or walking although both Flyte and I did get rather wet a couple of times so far. I hope that I get the call to see the dermatologist as quickly as your OH @Goldie146 as it should be at the same hospital. It's a great shame that you @DEBSC and your OH @heddlo have had such long periods to be seen after being referred. It certainly appears to be just where one lives as I think that @Oneputt didn't have a long waited after seeing his doctor until his latest operation.
That looks a fine bit of kit @richardandros how the demonstration goes well.
Fingers crossed that all goes well with Carol's operation this week @DSB

Those of you on Facebook will see reminders of past posts and events. On mine it has just reminded me that 10 years ago we had a short break in Brussels with our eldest son and his wife. We went by Eurostar which was an amazing experience in itsself. Our hotel was not far from the Grand Place and opposite the hotel was a wonderful Waffle cafe, they also did a sort of English Breakfast which we enjoyed a few times. It was only 10 years ago but oh how life has changed!
David

Yes our life has changed a lot in the last 10 years as well @DavidKlyne. It looks like you had a wonderful time. At least we had some great times while we could and have some lovely memories.
1 -
@milliehull lovely family pictures, hope you all had a wonderful week.
@DavidKlyne great picture David. As you say a lot changes in 10 years, good and bad, it’s good to remember the good ones though.
We have decided (well nearly!) that we must do something about a proper holiday next year. This year, what with our son and family visiting from Macau, dog sitting for other son and family, a fair amount of decorating, and my recent hip operation it seems to have taken a back seat. I would like to go to visit the family in Macau again but it has to be before March really as it gets far too hot and humid. We went last year in April/May when we were babysitting and it was too warm for comfort, for us anyway. However that seems too soon to get organised for, and the thought of another long haul flight is pretty daunting! We would love to get to France again, maybe Austria who knows. OH is 80 later next year and we, and friends of similar ages, seem to be falling apart, so we need to get going if we want to do something at all.@DSB very best wishes for Carol this week. As David said she must be encouraged by lots of us going through the same process very recently.

Haven't had time to get on for a few days. That sounded nasty @nelliethehooker. Good job it wasn't more serious and that you were so restrained. Some others may not have been so kind on both the dog and owner. Hope you get a quick appointment for the hospital visit. You do seem to if past experience anything to go by.
@DavidKlyne - funnily enough we were taking a trip down memory lane this morning. We were out on a walk and some people passed us going the other way and mentioned that they fancied a trip to Bruges. That set us off. A very pretty place but we weren't that impressed with the food, which seemed solely geared to the tourist (even their own Moules et frites) and found the less travelled to places in Belgium, more for locals, much better. Like yourselves, the last few years have wrought huge changes in our touring and lifestyle but at least we have no regrets. Touring really has taken us to places we would never have gone to otherwise and given us so many happy memories. Hopefully we haven't finished yet.
As said we went off for a stroll today in lovely Autumnal sunshine. It stretched out to about 5 miles so quite happy. OH currently out again, this time accompanying her mother on a stroll.

@richardandros - we were in a cafe in Llandudno a few months ago and a woman came in with one of those Atto mobility machines. It folded very neatly beside her chair and we had a conversation with her about it. She was impressed. Hope you were too when you tried it.

Thanks for all the good wishes for Carol's op.... @heddlo @nelliethehooker @milliehull @DavidKlyne and others too. I'll pass it on...

Not been around much. We lost our beloved pooch yesterday, there are a few on here who met him down the years, so hope no one minds me posting. Not unexpected, but that doesn’t lessen the grief felt. Neither of us has been without a dog for nearly sixty years, and a little bit lost to be honest. On the plus side, we gave him a dream life, and in return he provided lots of love, laughs and entertainment down his 15 3/4 years.
Easing ourselves into a different life, keeping busy, hope those with health issues are doing ok. Will be in touch privately with a few folks soon.🥲

@DSB hope all goes well for Carol's operation this week.
@nelliethehooker Glad to hear you are recovering from the dog bite and you get your hospital appointment through soon.
A wet dull weekend here did a couple of outside chores yesterday before the rain and now chilling out after our main meal of the day.
Our local cemetery now full of Chrysanthemums as it was Toussaint holiday yesterday and whilst we were out shopping on Wednesday pm the folk in front and behind us had 4 pots in a trolley and they were 12.50 euros each so 50 euros a trolley phew but lovely flowers and they really go in for plastic flower arrangements as well not our thing at awful as they look a bit tacky, also whilst out OH had is new tyres fitted to the Landcruiser should have been Tuesday but the tyres had not arrived but all done now.
Hope to start some pruning on the Leylandi hedge this week one batch at a time over the next few months as it has not been done for a few years so that will be tired and aching arms ha ha.
