What are you all up to

More grand photos @RedKite I especially like those of the trees, and the sunset too. Pleased to hear that the Cardio doctor was very happy with how your OH is doing.
Hope all goes well with the teacher training that your GD is doing @DEBSC
@KjellNN I spotted a small 20 pitch commercial site that might suit you when looking for one close to the A1(M) near Bedale, Pheasant Hill at Burneston. It appears to have large H/S serviced pitches with a new toilet block for £26 pn out of their high season of July and August.
I noticed today that there was a predictive text error in my post last night, as it should of course said Middleham, not Middleton!!😟

We had some rain through the night but it has been fine for nearly all of the day even though rain and winds had been forecast. We visited Norton Conyers, another first for us, and although the house itself was not open we had a good wander round the large garden. It is rather late in the year for it but they did have a fine border of Dahlias, and the floor of their orchard was littered with windfalls.
The Dahlia Border and the best view I could get of the house.
We stopped off at Wath on the way back to the van for another walk, and called in to see the 13th/14th C St Mary's Church. It contains numerous memorials of the descendents of the Graham family who owned the Norton Conyers estate, and a couple of impressive stain glass windows.

Pleased to report Margaret has had the clips out from her hip operation site today. All redressed with slight concern about some discharge from one part of the wound but doctor did not think it was infected. She goes back in a weeks time so they can have another look and hopefully the dressing off permanently?

Because I have time to think about things I am puzzled by Internet Banking, more specifically about the difference between using the providers website as opposed to usng their banking app on my Smart Phone. Both Margaret and I both have credit cards from the same supplier but separate accounts. Recently we have been informed that they are changing their bank account number and sort code. This means the customer has change any payee instructions they have previously set up. OK not an insummountable problem but it got me wondering why, of the two options for setting up a new payee is so much easier on a Smart Phone? If I set up a new payee online internet banking I need card readers to double check that its me. On the phone more straight forward, just tap in the details and you are good to go. Clearly financial organisations think using online banking is more risky than use the phone, but why? I did mine via online banking and Margaret's on the banking app which was much simpler.

Good news about how Margaret is progressing @DavidKlyne, fingers crossed that all is fine after her next examination. She should feel much more comfortable without the clips.
Enjoy your weekend away @Francis. Is this your last trip out this year?
It has been a fine, and mainly sunny day with another fine sunset, but we have had a shower of rain just now. We moved across to our last site of this trip this morning, and we are the 3rd caravan on the CL.
We stopped off for a few minutes so as not to arrive too early, and this was the view we had!
Tonight's sunset from the site

@nelliethehooker hopefully not we are planning a few nights away in November either in the Lakes or at Blackpool

Got back from Skybarn Farm CL about 1.30 yesterday, after a very windy tow back home. 30 mph restriction on the Humber Bridge, although, surprisingly, that was one of the less windy spots! Thankfully, the road works that hampered our exit on Sunday have now moved on further down the road, so that wasn't an issue.
Fun and games will start on Monday, though. The main road into Hornsea will be closed for two weeks and it will mean either a massive detour or a shorter one through single-track country lanes. Don't know how all the HGVs and buses are going to manage!
After emptying the van and the car, I then set to, connecting the water up. I always do that - mainly because I won't run the Truma heating 'dry' - even though you're supposed to be able to do that - but also because I need hot water in the van to clean the inside today. After the Aquaroll pump had been running for a minute, it started to show the symptoms of sucking air. Stopped it, took it out - gave it a shake - reconnected it and the same thing happened again. I even put my mouth over the socket and sucked water through until it was flowing freely but it didn't make any difference. Been working fine all week whilst away. Tried the spare pump - same thing happened. Eventually, after a lot of messing about, I managed to fill the onboard tank and then set to, filling the boiler and rest of the system. The pump in the onboard tank was sucking air immediately and no end of shaking it about inside the tank could resolve the problem. I was baffled as to why a previously trouble-free system now had both pumps playing up.
According to our neighbour, it turns out that whilst we were away, the water was off and had only just come back on. She was complaining that whilst it was now OK, their water had a sort of milky appearance. I checked ours in the house and sure enough, it was the same. It was full of air! I'm hoping that when I try again this morning, it will be OK - but I've never come across that before.

Glad to hear about Margaret's progress @DavidKlyne and great to see all the photos, ( @RedKite, @nelliethehooker, and others). Pleased that several are still getting 'out and about'.
We'd love to be sble to get away in tbe caravan, but Carol's hip replacement must come first. Next week she has a hospital appointment and blood tests and the week after is the op..... then there's the recovery period.... and Ruth and family are down from Lewis for a week towards the end of November. The we have the usual round of pre-Christmas concerts and Carol services in December, which means getting out i the van is never possible in December. It's looking like no 'trips out' now until after Christmas - and I'm already getting withdrawal symptoms!! 😀

Last day here in Wales, off home tomorrow. Very mixed weather, very sunny now but some torrential rain overnight. We have been alone on the CL since Tuesday, thought there might be some arrivals for the weekend, but nobody has arrived as yet.
Off to see my friend soon for a late lunch, then we need to tidy the van and fill up the car, early start tomorrow.

Lovely bright sunny day here on site but a bit chilly. We left the heating off overnight but put it on first thing when I got up this morning. Will go a wander round the site later it has quite an end of season feel to it here a couple of the toilets in the block are closed off and the site is not very busy they close next Monday for the season. It’s been a quick year we were down here on the opening weekend this year doesn’t seem so long ago
@DSB hope the hip replacement goes well and you can get out and about in the van again after Christmas
@richardandros glad you had a nice trip away

@DavidKlyne pleased to hear Margaret’s clips are all done, hopefully things will be more comfortable soon. The wound discharge will hopefully settle down quicker than mine (mine took 5 weeks, me being allergic to skin glue!).
Had our flu jabs this morning, OH had his Covid as well but as I’ve had a slight cold all week I postponed my Covid for a week. Thought my system may not cope with too much!@DSB (won’t go red!) best wishes to Carol and hope the pre-op goes well and then all set for the operation. Shame about cancelling Hawes, it was always one of our favourite sites when we had the caravan, but as you rightly say hip first and then look forward to next year.
Enjoying all the pictures from all. Lovely Autumn colours.1 -
That was strange. Not been on for 3 days yet club website thought I was new on here, even though I never sign out. I'm not "new" on my phone though.🤷♂️ Anyway we've been away in the Van with no name for a meet up with some friends. We travelled eastwards and they travelled westwards and we met in Grantham. We set off a day earlier than them and spent a night at C&CCs site at Conkers, visiting Moira Kiln en route. For those that don't know the area, Moira Kiln and new forest is only about a mile to the campsite. It made for an interesting few hours as there was a walk through the forest and canal.
The following day we met up with our friends and after lunch visited Belton House. We had feared the weather would interrupt plans but after some initial rain in the mornings travel to Grantham it turned out fine if a tad chilly for the afternoon. Some photos from the house. We didn't get up to see the deer as we ran out of time.
The stained glass window consists of the lineage of the Cust family, owners of Belton House but if one owns the church then I suppose one can put your own window in it. If you haven't been to the house and are fans of the Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth edition) then there are several areas of the house that you will recognise.
We finished our stay by stopping at a CL, Onnerley Cricket Club, just past Stoke to break the journey up. I have to say that I can't remember ever enjoying travelling along the A50 from Derby to Uttoxeter before such was the riot of Autumnal colours showing in lovely sunshine bordering either side of the dual carriageway. We even drove more sedately in order to admire it. Absolutely stunning. Home this morning without any problems.
View from the CL, which very conveniently is situated opposite a very decent Pub. Well, it would have been rude not to wouldn't it?

@Wherenext looks like you had a nice time away great pics. We’ve not done much today been a decent day weather wise didn’t want to cook tonight so went to the chippy for dinner. Now just in the van having a drink and watching the tv cold outside so got the heating on

Have a safe tow home tomorrow @KjellNN
Hope that you have sussed out the problem with the water system @richardandros
Grand photos and sounds like a good trip @Wherenext

It has been another fine day here, with plenty of sunshine, but with a cool breeze at times. We had a couple of walks around Kirby Lonsdale and we surprised how quiet it was for a Saturday. Another shock was finding that the Burger Van at Devil's Bridge was closed, much to the chagrin of the numerous motorbikers there!

I was back at Mum’s yesterday, first time in 10 days as I somehow, somewhere picked up covid☹️Thankfully, very mild this time, although I did get the fatigue element. Missed a family 90th birthday party, but otherwise kept busy while confined to barracks.
Good wishes and speedy recoveries to those having ops, etc….. Enjoying the photos.
Garden full of leaves at the moment🫣 Will be weeks before they are all off, so slowly putting plants into greenhouse for Winter, protecting some other stuff that has to stay outdoors. Plenty to do…….

Sorry to hear of your Covid infection @Takethedogalong. Did OH catch it as well? Hope he's well.
Catching up with jobs today as first day back in the saddle. Shopping for food first thing whilst OH got stuck into clothes washing. Cleaning the house and trying to figure out how the heck the bedside clock works for changing the time. MiL insisted we changed all of her clocks last night. We wondered why she was still up after the heating had gone off and she said it wasn't her time yet, forgetting that the clocks had gone back as per instructions.😁 Do I really want to get that old ?🤔 Sometimes I think not.

We got home earlier from a lovely weekend break at Ayr Craigie Gardens club site weather yesterday was decent nice blue skies a bit cold but a lovely autumn day. Pouring this morning but we managed to get packed up and away in between showers so didn’t get soaked. Made use of our free night voucher. The site is closing next weekend for the season and is getting a refurb over the winter which will be great as the site has been in need of an update for a long time now so looking forward to going back next year when it’s completed. Easy half hour tow home this morning but the roads were wet and we noticed the van was a bit twitchy even although it’s not windy and the wheels were beginning to spin when taking off from roundabouts. The front tyres on the car are quite worn now probably close to the limit so I think that’s was the issue so will get the front tyres replaced in the next couple of weeks before we tow again. Swept all the leaves out of the drive before putting the van back on its space because we live in a cul de sac in the corner all the leaves seem to gather on our drive. At home the next few weeks but hoping to get away for 5 nights near the end of November possibly to the Lakes weather permitting .

@Francis Interesting that Ayr is getting an update. I am sure a while back there was some doubt whether the site would contiue (I think its owned by the University?).Obviously any issues have been sorted and good to see it has a future in the Netwrk. We stayed there a few years ago.

@Wherenext nope, Mr Teflon remained covid free thankfully. Very mild for me, just the fatigue element that hit hard. Goodness knows how OH has not caught it once, but long may it continue.
We have been dealing with one of the most complex clock resetting issues going……….the interior workings of an elderly Labrador🤣His tum knows to the minute when feed time is, and he certainly lets us know. Been easing him out of BST for the last month and have failed miserably. At this rate breakfast will meet dinner at some point🤨

recently returned from a glorious week in Northumberland … looking forward to Norfolk next month for a week - and currently sat listening to the wind and rain and wishing it was summer again

Home now, reasonably quick journey up the M6 and M74. Traffic heading south was much heavier. A couple of sets of roadworks, but no real delays. Weather was very wet most of the way, but sun appeared when we were half way up the M74, so I remained dry while putting the van onto driveway , all done well before before 5pm.
Now need to bring in all the stuff from the van fridge as there is nothing much in the house. Will leave unpacking car and rest of van until tomorrow.2 -
Glad to hear that you have recovered from your latest round of Covid @Takethedogalong and that your OH managed to dodge it again. Unlike your Labrador Flyte doesn't seem the least bit bothered about the change in the timing of his meals, although I suspect that is because he seldom gets it at the same each day.
Pleased to read that those travelling today got home safely and seemed to have managed to dodge the rain both when packing up and at home.
When I took Flyte out for his last walk yesterday there was frost on the cars. This morning all was white and although the sun was out it was still below 0`C. It slowly clouded over but we got packed up and away in the dry. It started to rain about half way home and that persisted until late afternoon, but it wasn't very heavy and we were able to get the van put away and emptied without getting too wet. OH even managed a single round of washing, with more to do tomorrow, which promises to be fine thankfully.

Yes DAvid you are right there was an issue with the lease for many years which is why the upgrade never happened before but I believe the club have secured a long time lease on the site now hence the upgrade. It’s a nice site handy for the town and for us only half an hour so one of our locals will be nice to see it done up

Sitting here, in the hospital car park, while Carol goes in for her bloodtests and pre-op. Thought I'd delete some of the emails from my email account.... I've just managed to delete, just a little over 45,000 emails from the last few years!!! 🤣🤣🤣
David

Goodness me @DSB.😂 I'm surprised your phone worked at all. Hope Carols appointment goes well.
Mixed day weather wise with the showers being on the heavy side. We'll be catching up with neglected jobs this week. Just ordered some new pans to go with the new hob. Need a new wok sometime soon. Daresay I'll end up getting one for Christmas. Beats socks anyway.

😀😀 The phone just loads the last 50 emails @Wherenext - the others are on the server. I delete quite a few as I go (all tbe rubbish ones), but "a few" of the others tend to get missed, or (more usually) are left until later... Appointment seems to have gone well. Off back to the hospital tomorrow for another appointment.... At least it will give me chance to delete the other 45000 emails... 🤣🤣🤣 (Joke! )
