OH is with Smarty, has been for a couple of years, her deal is similar but she has 50GB of data. I think it was an offer through MSE.

Very sunny and warm here in Wales, thanks Wherenext, our last day now.

The 3 outfits that were on the CL when we arrived are still here, the one that arrived on Friday left yesterday, and we are heading to the Lakes tomorrow. Hope it stays dry while we are there as DD and the boys will be joining us.

Glad to oblige @KjellNN.😁 We do have our moments. I would have liked to have popped in to see you but as you can tell things have been rather hectic to say the least. Hopefully catch up with you another time.

    Have a safe journey tomorrow.

@Bakers2 I have plantar fasciitis, it’s awful. Had it for years, despite doing all the exercises, losing weight, ball rolling, toe curling, teetering on stairs, etc……..My GP referred me to podiatry at our local hospital, and they made me some custom insoles that I transfer from shoes to shoes. Some shoes are very badly made nowadays, with little or no arch support, and this isn’t just restricted to the cheaper end of the market. With my insoles, I am fine, but they do restrict the kind of shoes/sandals I can wear, have to have a back in otherwise the insoles slide backwards. I exist mainly in Skechers, but they have to be a good fit, cannot do the slide in ones as the insoles raise my heels to high. The only shoes I can wear without my insoles are carefully chosen Vionics, these have very good arch support, but they aren’t cheap. I usually request new insoles around every 18 months, two years, and sometimes they take a new mould of my feet, to create the insoles from. I can’t walk as far as I used to, on a good level surface 5 miles, but uneven surfaces are terrible for me. Most of the time I get by fine, but it’s frustrating not being able to wear sandals, trying to f8nd nice shoes for Weddings, etc….. I think some of my PF might be due to my early sport filled years, I used to play squash, tennis, badminton, etc for hours each week working in Leisure Services, and back in those days, the footwear wasn’t as forgiving, nor the floors as high tech. Paying for it now.

Sorry for the above post. It all went wrong and now I can't delete it! I will try again.

Sorry to hear that your plantar fascilitis is still causing you trouble @Bakers2 and you also @Takethedogalong. It sounds so very difficult to cope with. As regards my cold I thought it was getting better yesterday - not so. Today I have streaming eyes and streaming nose. Not a happy bunny 🤧☹️

OOh I hope you'd have added something I didn't know/do @Takethedogalong. I've worn arch support inner soles for 9 years plus, Vionic shoes/sandals/slippers for years, Hotter do some good walking sandals, don't go with posh outfits 😀. I've had it for just over 3 months so far. Not tried the NHS route because of referal times.

Physio has helped a bit, on top of all you do too. She suggested this 'shock treatment' which I'm off to chat about. DIL a trained physio, not who I consulted but obviously discussed within the family, son sports therapist by training, but neither can offer magic cure! DIL, now a farmer, suggested a coke bottle with frozen water in the same way as the spiky ball - great until your foot comes round again!

Someone else said theirs had gone eventually, 5 years! I hope yours improves.

I hate hot feet, so sandals and toe posts are must haves. I've just been a little silly overdoing it, got over confident!

@Bakers2 Sorry to hear you are suffering from plantar fasciitis. I had that a couple of years ago so on the advice of my son who also suffered, I got a pair of Sketchers (pull on ones) and that seemed to solve the problem. Strange really as I spent the best part of 40 years of my 46 working life on my feet all day and didn't have a problem. It was only when I got a desk job that I started to have issues with my hip and then knees. Could just be an age thing?

In 74 years I’ve been relatively fortunate and cost the NHS little, apart from hospital tests for my heart and then tablets, and then tablets for a thyroid problem. Always thinking I was lucky with my health, appreciating that and making a big effort to keep it that way. This morning I finally got an appointment with a dermatologist, I’ve been waiting 10 months for the appointment. I’ve had a nasty problem with my scalp, my hair is still breaking off in some places but in that waiting time it is not quite so sore and has calmed down a little, so when I finally got the appointment today I was convinced they would say it was getting better and no worries, so I breezed in there today. Not so, they think they know what it is but to be sure I now have to have a scalp biopsy - it’s not pleasant but just a couple of stitches after she said! I’ve cost the NHS more this year than in all my previous years put together. Seems this will mean even more tablets, I’m rattling already. However, it could all be much worse and in the past few months I’ve really counted my blessings.

LovelyI warm here today so we went and got some steak burgers and are cooking them out the back garden on the Cadac first time we have BBQ d at home this year although we have used the Cadac when away in the van a few times already this year

@Bakers2 lovely photos of the postbox toppers, there are some very skilled knitters out there! Hope you get your PF sorted, one way or another.

Sorry to read that your cold is no better, millie

Have a safe drive up to the Lakes, @KjellNN, are you stopping at Spital Farm again?

It has been a lovely warm sunny day and we decided to do one of our favourite walks on the area, through the grounds of Hoddon Castle, past the caravan site, and along by the River Annan. It was warm enough this evening to sit outside reading after our evening meal.

TThanks. I've rested up and out the splint back on. Much more comfy. What gets me the most is the unexpected times it decides to give aggro. Sitting at the table or when my feet are up 😡. Annoying but not life threatening.

@milliehull sorry to read you've got more symptoms today. Are you sure it's not an allergy? I merely speculate because the pollen counts locally are really high. Both grass and tree and maybe aggravating your cold symptoms? Do you have some antihistamine you could try? Wishing you better.

Oh @DEBSC you really have hit a bump in your health road. None of it sounds pleasant but hopefully there'll be answers and cures. Thinking of you.

@DEBSC Thank you, yes, you're right, the weather is certainly helping. Being able to go to different places and have a little walk somewhere different is really good. I'm really sorry to hear about your scalp problem, especially as you were convinced whatever it was, had all but gone. Once again, all the best with the biopsy.

@richardandros Nearly enrolled for this year's London Marathon 🤣 but thought I'd better wait at least another year 🤣 NOT!! As for sparrowhawks: we do get one from time in the garden; at our previous house we also had one, and saw it devouring a collar dove one day. Far from pleasant to see, but as you say, it's nature.

@Bakers2 Love the photos of the toppers, they're wonderful! So creative and imaginative. Yes, beware indeed; I'm a bit impatient really - used to walking everywhere I can, doing long walks etc, so possibly overdoing it at times really; like you, maybe going a bit silly. Went to Rufford Old Hall yesterday (NT) and walked well over 2 miles. Not in 1 go, sitting down at regular intervals. I did enjoy it though. Physio say there's no limit on distance, depending on how you feel. Still get aching/pain around operation site, but as it's only 4 weeks ago tomorrow, that's not surprising. As I say, I'm too impatient. I hope your splints help pending your appointment. Good luck.

Pleased to hear that Margaret is managing to get about after her op. It is hardly a surprise that the pavements are not even and often broken these days as so many heavy, delivery vans drive over them these days. Lovely picture of your latest jigsaw.

Best wishes to those still in recovery from various things, I hate a Summer cold as well Millie. I was thinking of you yesterday, as I planted out my Easton Walled Garden Sweet peas! We followed your recommend and fell in love with that lovely garden first visit.😁 My little plants are already nearly six months old, I followed the advice, planted up in November, lovingly kept them safe all Winter, and now they are ready to romp up the frame I built for them. Photos later at some point.👍

Expecting 26c here today. Already very warm. Don’t forget to put water out in garden for birds and other wildlife👍

On the subject of Yarn Bombing, I found this article about Thirsk. The town is absolutely festooned with creations at various times, anything that is static, bollards, clocks, churches….as well as post boxes are fair game🤣 Fabulously colourful, and adds a real welcome to the town

Wow @Takethedogalong love the Thirsk article. Such imagination! Can't expect our lady to replicate 😉. There is a craft group that meet weekly - never had the time to explore it myself!, but they don't assist our lone creator as far as I know. They did do lots of poppies for the church last year.

We really like Thirsk. It could gave been our move to place. But I'm not sure we'd have left our last house if it wasn't fir needing to be nearer family. Assistance works both ways 😉. We are going to 'entertain or be entertained 😆 ' one afternoon a week come September when the eldest starts school. Arrangements are in the very early stages.....

He's going to their first choice school. So a drive away, it would have been so much easier to lower a ladder, There's a big change in level, to the school field beside us, their 2nd choice, for him to climb up and be home 🤣.

For the first time in 20 plus years I'm not growing sweetpeas, well not much else either!, veg are still in their packets. I took posy's every visit to my dad in hospital for the last years of his life. (He seemed to 'decide' to be admitted about July and come out around September 😢.

@InaD that was a good outing. Probably better offer NT properties and shopping malls 🫣 for walking. Pavements are a nightmare with potholes and uneven slabs. I'm sure the overall cost it's probably higher, but out of a different budget, for not repairing.

We had a delivery van, identified and caught on camera, knocking down our close name sign. Apparently all reported to those responsible. Not back up yet - 12 months on. As for the pavements, on ocassions I have to ask have they become the highway?

Way hotter than I'm comfortable with already 22c. So sitting in the shade. It won't last long so I'm m enjoying it whilst I can. Nothing pressing to do 🤞

    Love the various "Yarn Bombers".

Creeping inflation - Bought some Falafel today for lunch. "Gosh" do a 9 ball packet, except today when I got them home they'd suddenly shrunk to 8. Same price. I buy small fun size Mars bars, mainly as back up carried in my rucksack, when having a cuppa somewhere out as I have allergies so can't always rely on finding anything. 15 bars to a large fun size pack, except now 14 for the price of 15! I know it's been going on for a while now but I wish they'd be honest about it on the pack. Something like:

"Your favourite fun sized Mars bars, same price but now even less. No need to thank us"

Off to take MiL for her hearing test appointment soon. We don't know whether her hearing has deteriorated or become more selective.😂 It's about 2 years since her last one.

Lovely day out there. Enjoy it while it lasts folks, unless you have pollen allergies.

NNice To see Essex getting some good coverage on BBC2 this week on Michael Portillo railway journeys.

EEssex is a very diverse county, and he's bringing out aspects of this. I did have to chuckle over the new railway station at Beaulieu..(Huge ongoing development of houses started in the 1980's and advertised then with its own station!) Due to open later this year. 🤐

It's been really hot here, the car said 22c when I drove off, 28c 3 miles later! Weather officially said 25.6c. My thermometer on the wall on the front porch reached 37.6 😅😅😅

@Wherenext don't talk to me about shrinkflation 😡........

We managed to get Mum outside into her garden today. Her special chair only just fits through the doorways, but we were careful, and she had a lovely half hour sat in the warm shade, looking at the flowers, planes passing over, listening to the birds singing. It’s a rare thing for her nowadays, it has to be warm and still, and she has to be up to it, but it was good to get her into some fresh air and what used to be her favourite place, her garden. Half an hour later, she was fast asleep. Fresh air works wonders😁

How lovely that you were able to get your Mum outside into the garden on such a beautiful day @Takethedogalong She must have really enjoyed it.

Yes @Bakers2 I do take antihistamines. I take Loratidine every day to help with hayfever. It might well be that hayfever was making me feel worse. I feel a lot better today so I have caught up on some outstanding jobs and also some gardening. I then sat on our swing seat at the bottom of our garden in the shade this afternoon. The weather has been glorious. Our wisteria is enjoying the sun as well.

You have had a good start to your latest trip in this wonderful weather @nelliethehooker

How did MIL's hearing test go @Wherenext? Was it 'selected hearing loss' 😁

@Takethedogalong so good to hear you were able to get your Mum outside today, it must have given her a boost to be outside. My Mum always liked a push around outside when the weather permitted.

@nelliethehooker hope the weather stays fine for you. Are you heading up to Scotland? May is a lovely month there, before midge season!

@heddlo we are at the start of our annual trip to Scotland, a bit later than usual but still before the judges come out in force I hope. We are visiting a few sites we haven't visited in a while, intermingled with a few that we try to visit on a fairly regular basis.

Again it was a bright sunny morning, around 17C, when we set off but it clouded up as we headed up the M74 where there were some damp patches on the hard shoulder. We had no problems en route and arrived at lunchtime in rather dull breezy conditions. The THS has gradually filled up somewhat during the day and early evening, and those running it expect around 100 units by the weekend . We generally try to avoid large gatherings but this fitted nicely into out planned trip,

Sort of a run out for us today, OH wanted to pick up some paint for MG from Retford area, so we decided to take the pooch and his chariot. Stopped off at Chesterfield Canal, and managed a short walk with him, but it was red hot with not much shade. We had a nice little picnic lunch. He learned to swim here well over 14 years ago, and it’s always a nice walk, plenty of fish around and we saw some Dragon and Damsel flies. Too hot to do much in garden once we got home. Car was showing 28c late afternoon🥵

@Goldie146 - I'm going to be going through the same process, this weekend. After debating with myself for the last six months, I have finally bitten the bullet and ordered a new iMac which will be here this morning. My present one is now 10 years old and is powered by the old Intel chip and it's so slow, it's frustrating - especially having just made the switch to full fibre broadband. My MacBook which I use when away, has an M1 chip and that's lightening fast but the new iMac has the M4 so goodness knows what that will be like😀

I can thoroughly recommend you using a password manager - stores all your passwords and auto-fills details so you only have to remember your master password, the 'manager' does the rest. I use one called 'Dashlane', although there are others. I have well over 200 different passwords - all very complex and supposedly un-crackable. It just saves so much hassle.
