Yes we too have known of quite a few couples who have moved to mostly Spain on their retirement and then one of the partners have died the surviving partner has eventually moved back to the UK as they didn't wish to be over there on their own.

@DavidKlyne - He won't move back and probably couldn't afford to. He likes the French health system and unfortunately has many problems to keep them occupied. He also has an Irish passport so he's counted as an EU citizen. We all suspected that his wife would outlive him easily but it wasn't to be. It was easier speaking to him when both myself and MiL were recuperating from Strokes as he would ring weekly to get reports but he can now go 5-6 weeks without ringing or writing to any of the family and won't take calls. Not much else we can do. My other brother lives on the south coast and does get over 2 or 3 times a year as he's only an hour from Portsmouth but he can't be there all of the time.

We always thought that he and his wife should have moved into a local town when medical issues raised their heads but they didn't want the hassle.

Nothing much else to be done.

@milliehull I am also having a issue with the photo icon missing. @RowenaBCAMC - I am also getting this message ‘“There was an error rendering this rich post’” - no idea what that is all about! Hopefully someone can look at it tomorrow.

Wherenext…..we will be heading over your way on Friday for 5 nights, can you arrange for some dry, sunny weather please?

Here, near Ashbourne, we are now alone on the CL, everybody else left today. Apart from a couple of dry periods, it has been raining all day, heavier in the afternoon, so we have not ventured out. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and mainly dry, so planning a trip to the Denby village….DD is collecting a particular pattern, so we may buy her a few pieces for her birthday in June.

We also need to call in to the office of those operating the CL, to pay our dues. They did not take a deposit, which was quite surprising. It is a nice CL, very quiet, fully serviced pitches, wi fi, picnic table at each pitch, and a very clean toilet and WHB, with soap and paper towels provided, beside the toilet emptying point. Lots of space and lots of trees all around, the 4 pheasants wandering around are quite entertaining.

Brothers and sisters can be quite concerning as we get older. My oldest sister is now 81, she ended up in hospital a few weeks back with RSV, and mobility problems due to diabetes. She lives alone and her house is not that suitable any more. The stairs are very steep and narrow, bedrooms and shower room are upstairs, but there is a downstairs toilet.

She was discharged to her local old people’s residential centre until her house could be made more suitable, and is now back home with the supervision of one of her daughters, who lives about half an hour away. The district nurses have moved her bed downstairs as she has a large living area, and an extra hand rail has been fitted to the staircase. She will also get a visit from the nurses every so often for help with showering. She is however very independent, so is highly likely to attempt the stairs and the shower without help!

There was a problem with photos which Ro said had been fixed. I could be completely off travk here, but I wonder if those who are having problems might clear the cache memory?? Might this solve it?

Will try my best but we're abandoning you to the fates @KjellNN as we're heading West later this week. I believe it may be dryish. No guarantee though.

Sorry to hear about your brother @Wherenext hope you get an opportunity to visit him and that the French health service keep a good watch over him. Enjoy your time away this weekend coming.

Lovely photos, @milliehull I especially like the display of primulas. Glad you had a lovely day out at Peckover with the family.

It would appear that we have had much better weather than most, for although it did threaten rain very little materialise, and the afternoon ended with warm sunshine. More painting for me, door frames around a small central hall and the skirting board in the bathroom. Now enjoying a glass of an unusual wine from Turkish Makri vineyard, a Karasaki & Gammy.

@RowenaBCAMC Apart from the picture issue I have also noticed that my ‘@addresses’ come up grey and only change red once I have posted. Perhaps this is correct but it’s changed from previously, the comments box is very narrow which is another change. I use an iPad.

We're at Blackpool South CAMC at the moment.... visited my sister yesterday, who has just moved to Longridge (just N of Preston). Site very busy on Sunday, but many headed for home yesterday. Good location for a site.... easy to get to, but felt a bit cramped when it was full on Sunday. Not a fan of having to park the car at the front of the pitch (by the caravan hitch), but serviced pitches tend to be long and thin!!

@RowenaBCAMC I too am suffering the same issues as @milliehull and @heddlo using an android.
Can I also add no photo, probably not the right word! Avatar/image appears when the @ list comes up.
I was impressed with the initial improvements. Sadly, tweaking has caused issues.. obviously to some, not all.

We had that problem at the Moreton in Marsh site @DSB . We had to park the car in front of the caravan near the hitch which we weren't keen on. Nevertheless I hope you enjoy your stay at Blackpool.

Quiet here this morning, son and family went home yesterday. They left at 12pm saying, ‘it’s a nice day we’ll get off early, miss the rush as most will stay on the beach’ wrong. It took them 6 hours to do a 4 hour journey, they said the traffic out of Devon on our Link road was sitting still. Not surprising really on Easter Monday. They have found a house locally and put in an offer but they still have to sell theirs, so we shall see.

On Good Friday we visited our local outlet centre with them, it was pouring with rain and the place was so busy! Difficulty parking and a long queue out of the door at Costa. Never seen the place like it before. We popped in again on Sunday as our granddaughter wanted to get something, what a difference! It was like a different place. Hardly any cars in the car park and just a couple of other shoppers. Costa was empty. The weather was lovely that day so all the holidaymakers were probably on the beach. What a difference nice weather makes, especially to all the visitors to Devon.
We went on with two of our granddaughters to a garden centre that now has, what was the Gnome Reserve, they moved all the gnomes there when the owner of the Reserve gave up. So we had a wander around there reacquainting with all the little gnomes. All set in a space with a little stream and a water mill, very pleasant. Of course I purchased a couple of plants.

MRI this afternoon, Im just not keen on all the noise that it makes whilst one is inside it and it’s a bit claustrophobic but hopefully it doesn’t last for long.

I suspect this might be an Apple device issue. I have all the same problems stated by others. I have cleared my cache, my device is up to date, but I still cannot get it to work as it did. No icons for posting photos, it won’t allow me to quote anyone, and I get the silly “rendering of this rich post” statement. I can live with the name tag changes, that works once you actually post, but does leave you guessing up to posting.

I also have two “Quote” links below. Neither work😡 one comes up with “null” instead of the quote, the other does nothing at all.

Hi Folks Hope that you had a decent Easter holiday and everyone who is recovering from their various medical issues, is getting better. Googling around a few sites yesterday, I see that High Onn is now in private ownership and has a new toilet block built (this may have already been discussed and I may have missed it). It doesn't seem to be a group of companies that have taken it on but whoever it is, they must think that it is a viable investment as building a toilet block would not be cheap.

There's certainly something going on. If I go to 'edit' the posts of those having problems the 'icons' come at the top of the post. If I go to edit the posts of those not having problems, the 'icons' come it the proper plsce, at the foot of the posts. I'll let @Rowena know....
