Glad those away have had such a good time and enjoyed the lovely weather. Great photos @Wherenext, @Francis and @nelliethehooker. I have really enjoyed them.
The day here started off bright but chilly but became cloudy and then we had a shower of rain. Not enough to do any good to the garden though. We went to the Palm Sunday service this morning complete with a donkey. We should have had 2 as in previous years but one of them completely refused to get in the horsebox 🤣 This afternoon I watched the Boat Race. Excellent result ( for me anyway 😁). It is the only sporting event that I really enjoy watching.

Takes me back a good few years @milliehull. I was confirmed on Palm Sunday and along with my best friend at the time, 13 years old, we were the first to be confirmed in a new RAF church. I think we were hoping for a party but obviously that was out of the question!😁

I am surprised you were confirmed during Lent @Wherenext. No wonder you didn't have a party 🙄. I was confirmed just before Christmas (many years ago) so we had a good excuse for a bit of a party.

@milliehull - I was just surprised we were that RAF station long enough to be confirmed. New postings played havoc with school, church, friends and everything else in between and I think the timescale for Sunday School was a moveable feast but it was definitely Palm Sunday. Of course I didn't realise the significance at the time.

A bit more cloudy here today with some suggestion of spots of rain. It kept dry for our Palm Sunday procession at the Abbey, with Daisy the donkey.. Daisy behaved herself during the service and the choir children always enjoy saying hello at the end of the morning....

Love the photos off the donkeys, thanks @milliehull and @DSB for sharing.
Glad you had an easy tow home after a good trip away @Francis
Sounds as if you have had a busy day after your trip @Wherenext Great to hear that your trip went well, MIL cope well with her carers, and that you have a longer one planned for next month.
It is very good of you to give away your jigsaws are you complete them, I am sure those that get as much p!measure from them as you obviously do @DavidKlyne
@KjellNN have a safe tow down to York. I am surprised to hear the the East Fortune sites are so quiet for the holiday period especially as the weather has been so good.
We had a little rain during the night but it stayed dry all day although showers in the morning were forecast. We just did a local walk before lunch as our daughter came over to see us this afternoon. Our last night of this trip but the next one is fully booked for after Easter.

We arrived at Thornthorpe CS about 1pm, yesterday. By the time we had finished setting up the van and the awning, it was 5pm!!!! A much needed G&T was the order of the day😀 That Veduta awning is wonderful - but an absolute pig to put up - I very much doubt that anyone else would take so long - but aching joints meant I had to keep stopping for a rest😊
Lovely morning, this morning - sun shining and it promises to be a good day (weather -wise) for Tony's send off. Can't say we are looking forward to today - but I will stand there in church, thinking of all the happy times we have shared together.

I don't think any of the Thule 'rooms' are easy to put up @richardandros. We have a Thule wind out, which we find very good, but gone are the days of an enclosed awning..... all that stretching and pegging!! We find the wind out is sufficient to keep out outside bits and pieces dry, should it rain (all the stuff we have outside is 'rain safe' anyway)... if it's too wet/cold to sit outside, we sit in the caravan.. 😀 There are only the two of us, and the van is quite large, so its not an issue.
All the best for today @richardandros

@richardandros all the best for today.

Up early this morning to do an early food shop as we had to take MiL for a blood test. Beaurocrary gone mad. MiL was put on her meds by the head honcho Stroke doctor following her Stroke last year but GPs have said they won't continue to prescribe them unless she has a blood test. Doesn't matter what the blood test shows as the meds she is on are there to try to prevent a recurrence of a Stroke, namely Blood thinners and B.P. tablets. So more resources wasted.
Used the trip to call into the library to collect a pre ordered book that had arrived.
Hope today wasn't too taxing @richardandros.

@DSB , @Wherenext , @InaD - thank you for your kind wishes. Although a sad day, today was a marvellous tribute to my dear friend. Old Malton Priory Church was absolutely packed - with not only the surviving members of his old Regiment who had come from far and wide, but also most of the village in which he lived. Although, I have to admit there were tears in my eyes when the Last Post was played, I just kept thinking of all the fun we had had together over the years.
Tomorrow is definitely going to be a 'lazy day' - enjoying the peace and tranquility of this site😊

Glad to read that your day wasn't too traumatic @richardandros and that the funeral for your friend was so well attended, he must have been greatly respected.
This morning was thankfully dry although a bit cloudy and we got home without any rain to speak of. There were a few spots of rain as we unloaded the caravan but we were able to get it all done without getting any of the stuff wet. There were a few showers throughout the afternoon however which prevented OH from getting the washing out to dry. We had our Covid booster booked at our doctor's surgery for 16:00, and we were on our way back to the car from having it done, and collecting a prescription from a nearby chemist, as the town hall clock struck the hour…we could not have been in the doctors' more than 5 mins, including waiting time!

Glad to hear that your friend's funeral was so well attended @richardandros and that all went well. These occasions are never easy. Enjoy your rest today.
@Wherenext we have to have annual blood tests at our GP surgery in order for them to contnue with our medications some of them prescribed by a hospital consultant. 🤔
It is grey and raining here today so normal service is resumed. The gardens do need the rain though.

@Wherenext - as @milliehull says - we also have to have annual blood / BP checks for medication to continue. I've been taking BP meds for about 40 years and it's always been the case. One of the problems is that with prolonged use, some BP meds can affect kidney and liver function and this is what they're looking for with the blood tests. It's not that they would stop treating the blood pressure if something untoward was found - just that other meds would be considered. With my anti-coagulant (Edoxaban), it's only necessary for an annual blood test, thank goodness. If it was Warfarin I was taking, it would have to be weekly, which would be an absolute pain.

OH has a kidney function blood test plus other items once every 6 months but he has 1 blood test every 3 months and he had one this am as he has a Pancreas xray/scan tomorrow in Cahors and they wanted a blood test before he went, he just walks in for his tests as long as he gets there ear;y and today he was first in the queue and back in the car by 8am which is when they open and it is for 4 days a week between 9am to 10am very quiet this morning as it was pouring with rain so not many folk about..
Had a thunderstorm last night and rain on and off this week so no outside chores heyho.

Picking up our new moho tomorrow and off to small site near Winchester for the Easter weekend, to play with all the bells and whistles. Will be planning our French/Italian summer hols over the weekend. We will definitely be using the search function on here a fair bit 😁

A bit wet off and on here today, but managed to keep out of the heavy rain.
Yesterday we visited the National Mining Museum on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Plenty to see, and an excellent guided tour from a former miner, really interesting.
Today we are now about to go to North Berwick for some shopping and fuel up the car for our trip down to York tomorrow.
Having observed the activity on the site here, we have concluded that today there are 8 seasonal vans on the site, only one in use at present, plus us and a MH that came last night, and the adjacent CL is now empty.
Price may be putting people off a bit, we pushed the boat out and are on a fully serviced HS which costs £30 per night for 2 adults, grass and non serviced are slightly less expensive, as is the CL. There are no facilities, which suits us fine, but there is a MH service point and a laundry room, plus the usual toilet emptying and refuse disposal. We stay here as it is very close to my old friend that we were supposed to be visiting. The CL, which we used last time is much more shaded and next to a surprisingly busy B road.

It’s been throwing it down all day here, the garden did need it but it does seem to be all or nothing. 2 hour trip to Exeter hospital this morning, it can take that long if Exeter city traffic is heavy. 15 minute appointment and an hour and forty five minutes to get home. I thought it would involve scans etc for radiology but it was more to talk about what would be done and the possible side effects. The NHS has been really good so far but I really think that appointments like that could be carried out at our local hospital or even on the phone. It’s such a long journey for everyone here who has to attend, some very elderly or without their own transport, for a 15 minute chat. We did visit a local Farm shop there, which was nice and I got a nice sourdough loaf and a pork pie for OHs tea. We also had a nice cuppa there. We were going to the IKEA there for lunch but the queues in the restaurant were too long, the place was heaving, and so many children, due to half term I suppose, OH said it was busier than Alton Towers, he wasn’t wrong. I’m now waiting for the appointment to come through that does involve the scans etc before the actual treatment. He did tell me it would be every working day for 3 consecutive weeks though, we will have to work something out as the journey itself is very tiring. Another MRI next Tuesday but at least that is at our local hospital. Son, and family arriving tomorrow for their annual Easter break with us, haven’t seen them since New Year so that will be nice. Not so sure about the dog though now that we’ve had all this rain, shes a springer and loves nothing better than a race around in the mud. Have a good Easter all of those away and those spending it at home.

Welcome to CT @GWagon. Hope everything goes well on the inaugural trip. We changed from a caravan last year to a PVC (Panel Van Conversion) and even after 30+ years of caravanning still found it different in so many ways. When you're ready start a thread asking about foreign trips etc. In fact ask about anything. Enjoy your new hobby.

@DEBSC - It does indeed seem easier to have had your consultation done over the phone. Best wishes to you and your family for what lies ahead.
Re MiL's appointment. I would understand it if she was on medication other than that for the Stroke but even at 90 years old she wasn't on any other meds at all and they didn't bother with her, as evidenced by the recent phone calls about no contact for bone scans in 2015 and 2017.
Talking of meds I had an Iron injection today. Sitting down at dinner table my sweet dear Mother-in-Law asked whether my brownish pallor was down to the Iron. I asked whether she thought I was rusting away! You ever know was her reply.😂

@DEBSC it seem an awful long way to travel for what could have been done over the phone or by an online video chat.
@KjellNN have a safe journey down to York. Hope the weather improves for the rest of your trip.
We had some light rain this morning but it was dry by lunchtime. Returned the caravan to the dealer this afternoon for them to carry out a bit of it warranty work and hopefully we will be picking it up again in a couple today's time. I could do with a fine day tomorrow so as I can get the car cleaned and polished.

I don't know how it will fit in, in terms of distance @KjellNN , but Wetherby services is good for caravans. Drive through parking spaces and the area is usually supervised by an attendant. The signage for the caravan bay is a bit confusing as you enter because although caravans are signposted on the first sign, they're not shown on the second one - but just follow the sign for coaches - they're in the same area. Plus it's close to all the facilities. I always use it on the trips to our dealer in Tebay.

Wetherby is probably your best bet, however, depends if you are using A59, or A64 to get to York and Site. Wetherby is after A59, but before A64 junctions.0

have used weatherby several times but it is almost at our destination!!
Having left at 10 it seems we should be there about 14.30….a few diversions and roadworks on the way…. So I we are now stopped in a lay by for a comfort break and will just press on….we had a good breakfast

Went for our Covid vaccinations today at the Open University (we go there because its easy to park). Clearly not as many people having the vaccination as in the past, virtually straight in and straight out. The guy on the desk mentioned that if we come back in the Autumn we can have our Flu jabs at the same time. Just wondered if they are struggling to keep this vaccination centre open as its probably capable of handling hundreds of people every day and I assume there is a cost to all that?
Called into see number one son on the way back. He has just got back from two weeks walking a section of the Camino de Santiago from near Pamplona to Burgos which is 161 miles. He did the whole route 25 years ago and intends to continue more perhaps later in the year but probably not the whole route this year.

It was the same for us when we went to our local Chemist, David. It's usually heaving but there was no one there apart from us. I wonder if it's because it's for over 75s only? I only scraped in because it's my birthday a few days before the 'end date'.
That said, our GP reckons the average age of Hornsea residents is 70 - so that shoots that theory down!🤔
