A bit mixed weather wise first thing but OH decided to do some washing and as the sun came out it turned out to be the right decision, as all dried outside. Went to a couple of nature reserves today, Westhay and Ham Walls, and saw some Cattle Egrets, which we've not seen before. Booked our last 3 CLs for this trip today, one at £14 pn and the other two at £15!! Hopefully we will be able to meet up with our son, our daughter, and some friends at each of the sites.

Enjoy your trip to Stowe tomorrow, Hellen, and pleased to read that you are fixed up with a CL for a visit.

Its Called the Crewe North-West Package for want of a sensible name  yell

Probably similar to the A303 upgrade ABM...and we seem to be covered in perpetual dust from it as the ground is still bone dry beneath the surface. It now has the appearance of a lunar surface. Oh well it will help the holiday traffic pile up further along the way. wink

Having a few minutes break from family cooking. Pleased with some potatoes we bought from a nearby Duchy farm, £5 for 25kg, called Sapphire they look better than the previous year although they all last well through the winter.

Planted up three bags of tulips yesterday and a tray of Sweet Williams which I grew from seed. That's about it for winter planting now just lots of leaves to collect, pruning and cutting.

Volunteered to do a village fundraiser, felt good at first now a slight panic.....have till late January for total panic...laughing

Slightly cooler today at only 27°! Perfect for climbing to the summit of Sierra Olta (the left hand summit in the photo taken from the hotel) with spectacular views up and down on the ascent and proof that Mr & Mrs M actually made it to the top! smile

The sign indicates a paltry 587m above sea level, but it's upwards all the way, fortunately through trees for much of the climb. And at the top perfect silence (and a view over to Benidorm! surprised)

Such good news Helen and another step in the right direction. I hope the next tests bring you more good news. Have a wonderful trip away, I am sure it will lift your spirits to get away and I hope you are having the same lovely weather as we are today for your outing to Stowe with your grand-daughter plus son and DIL.

We enjoyed the rest of our holiday in Norfolk. On the Wednesday we caught the bus to Sheringham to have a look round the market (sadly much reduced since the pandemic), a wander round the shops and along the sea front with lunch at our favourite sea front restaurant. Thursday we went to Blickling Hall as we hadn't visited it for years. Such a wonderful old house with very informative room guides. The garden looked as though it had suffered badly during the hot dry summer as they are doing a huge amount of cutting back. We finished the visit with a look round their wonderful second hand bookshop where we spent quite a lot of time (and also quite a lot of money!). On Friday we went to Holt which is much more upmarket than I remembered. OH got up quite a turn of speed as I wandered round the shops! He thought you were very brave to take Mrs WN and your MIL there WN. I did manage to have a browse round some of the shops but was very restrained and we also found a lovely little Italian restaurant for lunch. I have tried to post some photos but this site kept saying they were too big even though I had resized them as usual - very frustrating.

Yesterday afternoon after we had returned to went over to see my greatest friend and her husband as it was his 80th birthday. I think I mentioned that we was very ill with cancer some while ago.  He is now extremely poorly and spending all the time in bed.  Hospice at Home are visiting 2 or 3 times a day and are being absolutely marvellous. It is thought that he will probably go into our local Sue Ryder Hospice quite soon. He seemed pleased to see us though.

Today has been The Great Eastern Run which means that as our road is on the route we couldn't go anywhere.  We wouldn't have wanted to anyway as our SIL was taking part so we all stood outside and cheered him on.

Great photos moulesy and well done to you and Mrs M for climbing to the top.  You actually look quite good considering the climb and the warm weather.

When we had to purchase the power assisted wheel chair as OHs scooter (under warranty) had broken down with a brake fault

We were at Cromer but the local motorbility dealership would not deal with it as it was still under warranty

When we got home I was looking at prices and noticed we had been charged a much higher price than other motorbility dealerships for the same equivalent( taking advantage of the situation?)

One of our neighbours works for HMRC and looked at the paperwork we had from the dealership and said it was not correct?

She said to contact them and if I was not satisfied with their response let her know and she will contact some one and get one in her words "a local terrier to give them a visit, surprised"

Looks like you are having a good time Moulesy and lovely photos. We got back home today around 11.15am as the site we left was about 2 hours away makes a change to get OH off early and a good trip back van unpacked and 1 load of washing done as weather was lovely and warm plus a good wind, will clean inside of van tomorrow  then it will go back to its parking spot. Had a good break and did managed to get to local Bastide village of Pujols lovely views from the top to the south but north more houses and the town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, we liked the site with plenty of shrubs and trees on but not the surroundings as most of local walks not so good and site surrounded by housing estates and busy roads, yesterday was warm sunshine all day in fact the inside of the van got a bit too hot as not used to this heat in October and this week looks like more warm days could even get to 30C but by the weekend will be cooler and stormy just as it is the 2 week school half term this coming weekend, just hope fuel workers call off their strikes.

Spent a lovely afternoon at Stowe Gardens today with our Son and Grand daughter. Weather was perfect. The leaves are just starting to turn, the colours were beautiful. It was very busy, when we arrived but as the gardens are so large it's always possible to find a quieter spot.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Millie, you packed quite a lot in.Well done to you SIL for completing the run. Very sorry to read about your friend but glad he is getting excellent care.

Nellie  forgot to add,we'll done for finding a couple of £15 cls, the one we have booked has gone up to £18, it was only £16 .

He thought you were very brave to take Mrs WN and your MIL there WN.

Millie, I'm not as stupid as I look.wink Before marrying the present Mrs.WN I had her fill out a questionnaire and she ticked the "Dislike" shopping box when asked about clothes buying. Obviously she wasn't too shabby on the rest of the questions either.🤣 So when in Holt I knew I was safe and MiL could spend as much of our inheritance as she wanted.

Still a lovely place. Have they managed to finish rebuilding Budgets yet after the awful fire yet? We have eaten at the pub next to Blickling a few times Millie and found it more than acceptable, just in case you happen to be down that way again.

Quite a lovely morning so we went for a walk locally. First time on with my new walking shoes bought in July. Devastated to find my old ones had worn through the sole so I need to break my new ones in.

Reading your comments WN and just saying - My OH loves shopping! Yes clothes shopping! If I ever suggest going for a walk he refuses, he hates walking. But if in a town or city he will walk around shops for hours. We do split up at shops, he wouldn’t come in a dress shop with me, quite happy with that though. If we are on holiday I love to find somewhere to walk, his suggestion will always be, ‘ let’s go to the shops.

Staying at College Farm, Alkborough.  £18 a night, water and electric on pitch and free WiFi,  what’s not to like!  Lovely so far.  Won’t be doing any shopping though, luckily we both dislike it!! 🥴

    Millie

Have you not discovered the secondhand bookshop in Sheringham, it's on a back street behind the High Street? All the books are sorted by author, I think it's called Peter's Bookshop.

We have just got back from a week at Seacroft, treated ourselves to a serviced pitch, £37 a night but hey ho it's only money! Certainly saves a lot of hassle. Excellent site for local transport  which is just outside the entrance. Managed to visit "The Mo" which is the Sheringham Museum. (last time we were there it was closed) Details of local Life Boats and local history. There was a Station Y listening post nearby that linked back to Bletchley Park in MK.

Great site, one we have visited quite often. Good walking in both directions, heddlo.

Good to read that you had a grand time on your Norfolk trip, Millie Sorry to hear about your friend's husband.

WN, did you manage to sort out the dental appointment for your OH to get the broken tooth fixed?

Glad you had a good day out at Stowe, Helen. It is a few years since we were last there.

It happened after closing time on Friday Nellie so not had a chance yet but we do have a long standing check up appointment tomorrow afternoon so she will give them a ring first thing and ask them to use my check up allotted time as well as her own to extract the other half that is left. I'll just see the hygienist and make a new check up for myself. Hopefully!

    Have a safe journey tomorrow.

Could have done with jobs like that one, Brue !!

I fed certain feathered friends two doors away, then ditto the wild ones chez A B M  and decided to take the rest of the day off.  Sat down & tidied up a pile of catalogues, Scotts n Coopers n Cotton Traders n RSPB n . . . . . until I'd run out of marker pens as well as things to mark with them  smile  so just worked thro the weeks t.v. listings  BUT made one terrible error ~~ I Marked & Logged onto the Sky Arts Channel for Five pm today and ended up, as usual, with soggy eyes.  All because this emotional old goat had clicked on the 25th anniversary edition ( about three hours worth ) of LES MIS at the O2 Arena. I just can't get all the way thro this prog without getting all soppy !!

Yes, Christmas...spent yesterday evening searching for and ordering a new cooker..the Christmas lunch will hopefully now go ahead. wink Our cooker gave up the ghost near the end of cooking the family meal yesterday evening, luckily everything was hot and cooked. Just hoping the new one will be easy to use and reliable. Don't enjoy getting used to new appliances!

Just hope I've made the right choice ABM, I would normally go in and check out what I'm buying but this way our new one will arrive Thursday.

Should add I was sorry to hear about Millie's friends coping with illness, I'm sure they were glad to have your company and friendship.

We rented an NT cottage bear Blickling Hall years ago Millie, enjoyed our stay, the river Bure flowed past the back garden. Must look at some winter cottage holidays, we usually find something. Daughter has found a last minute booking for half-term near Hartland  We will be seeing our other daughter soon who will be cooking a very early Christmas dinner for us....sorry to mention the word again. wink

Hope Nellie catches up with his family too.

I think I may have rattled a couple of cages this morning

I called the UK manufacturers of our wheelchair power pack who advised that there are "copies" being sold cheaper by some companies

About an hour later had a call from the  owner of the company I bought as I thought overpriced power pack to say that he was aware of my concerns and to advise basically the same as the manufacturer and added he had had dealings with copies that people had bought in for repair but had found that most were not repairable and has apologised for the vat problems with invoices but HMRC are aware of a problem he has

I have since contacted our neighbour to hang fire with the "Terrier"surprised

Ouch, that won’t be cheap Brue. We have only had two cookers in the last 38 years, and our old one went to carry on doing sterling service with a not very well off neighbour whose own cooker gave up the ghost the day our new one was installed. I enjoy cooking, so went for a range type this time.

Interesting evening last night. OH was out for a bike ride yesterday afternoon, quietly minding his own business, well lit up, riding just where he was supposed to, doing everything by the book. Not good enough for one nasty piece of work, he failed to get past in time as road narrowed, so set about with verbal abuse, and what’s known as a “punishment pass”. Car was so close it almost brushed OH’s bike handles, and it was at speed as well. It really shook OH up, (he has been knocked off his bike a couple of times). Anyway, we fired up our laptop, had a look at bike cameras, and yes, it’s all there. Place, date, time, road conditions, other users, and clear video of what happened, including how close he was, make and colour of car, and the number plates. I couldn’t believe it when he showed me☹️😬

I hope you have sent a copy of the video to the police? Since the changes to the Highway Code the driver could be in for a hefty fine? Probably could have before if it was so dangerous.

Thank you brue for your kind comments about our friend.  Much appreciated. One of the ladies working in the shop at Blickling mentioned that they had a few holiday cottages on the estate. Something to remember for the future. Best of luck with the new cooker.

What a nasty experience TDA I do hope you and your OH are going to take it further. That driver needs a hefty fine and a course on how to drive safely.

Do not delay in contacting your local police and give if possible a copy of the incident before it goes" cold" the idiot driver needs his time in court
